| 1 | The zinc transporter Slc39a5 controls glucose sensing and insulin secretion in pancreatic β-cells via Sirt1- and Pgc-1α-mediated regulation of Glut2显示文摘Zinc levels are high in pancreatic β-cells, and zinc is involved in the synthesis, processing and secretion of insulin in these cells. However, precisely how cellular zinc homeostasis is regulated in pancreatic β-cells is poorly understood. By screening the expression of 14 Slc39a metal importer family member genes, we found that the zinc transporter Slc39a5 is significantly downregulated in pancreatic β-cells in diabetic db/db mice, obese ob/ob mice and high-fat diet-fed mice. Moreover,β-cell-specific Slc39a5 knockout mice have impaired insulin secretion. In addition, Slc39a5-deficient pancreatic islets have reduced glucose tolerance accompanied by reduced expression of Pgc-1α and its downstream target gene Glut2. The down-regulation of Glut2 in Slc39a5-deficient islets was rescued using agonists of Sirt1, Pgc-1α and Ppar-γ. At the mechanistic level, we found that Slc39a5-mediated zinc influx induces Glut2 expression via Sirt1-mediated Pgc-1α activation. | 5 | Long-term declining in carbon monoxide(CO)at a rural site of Beijing during 2006-2018 implies the improved combustion efficiency and effective emission control显示文摘Carbon monoxide(CO)is primarily the result of incomplete combustion,which has impor-tant impacts on the atmospheric chemical cycle and climate.Improved quantitative char-acterization of long-term CO trends is important for both atmospheric modeling and the design and implementation of policies to efficiently control multiple pollutants.Due to the limitations of high time-resolution and high-quality long-term observational data,studies on long-term trends in the CO concentration in China are quite limited.In this study,the observational data of the concentration of CO in a rural site of Beijing during 2006-2018 was used to analyze the long-term trend in CO concentration in Beijing.The Theil-Sen method and the generalized additive model(GAM)-based method,were used to conduct the trend estimation analysis.We found that the concentration of CO at the Shangdianzi site showed a significant downward trend during 2006-2018,with a decline rate of 22.8±5.1 ppbV per year.The declining trend in CO also showed phasic characteristics,with a fast decreasing rate during the period of 2006-2008,stable variations during the period of 2009-2013 and a continuous downward trend after 2013.The declining trend in the CO concentration in the south to west(S-W)sectors where the polluted air masses come from is more rapid than that in the sectors where the clean air masses come from.The declining trend in the CO concentration implies the improved combustion efficiency and the successful air pollution control policies in Beijing and the surrounding area. | Yingruo Li Zhiqiang Ma Tingting Han Weijun Quan Junxia Wang Huaigang Zhou Di He Fan Dong | 2022 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,5: | 1 |

| 10 | Exploring the nonlinear piezoresistive effect of 4HSiC and developing MEMS pressure sensors for extreme environments显示文摘Microelectromechanical system(MEMS)pressure sensors based on silicon are widely used and offer the benefits of miniaturization and high precision.However,they cannot easily withstand high temperatures exceeding 150 ℃ because of intrinsic material limits.Herein,we proposed and executed a systematic and full-process study of Sic-based MEMS pressure sensors that operate stably from-50 to 300 ℃.First,to explore the nonlinear piezoresistive effect,the temperature coefficient of resistance(TCR)values of 4H-SiC piezoresistors were obtained from-50 to 500 ℃.A conductivity variation model based on scattering theory was established to reveal the nonlinear variation mechanism.Then,a piezoresistive pressure sensor based on 4H-SiC was designed and fabricated.The sensor shows good output sensitivity(3.38 mVN/MPa),accuracy(0.56%FS)and low temperature coefficient of sensitivity(TCS)(-0.067%FS/℃)in the range of-50 to 300 ℃.In addition,the survivability of the sensor chip in extreme environments was demonstrated by its anti-corrosion capability in H_(2)SO_(4) and NaOH solutions and its radiation tolerance under 5 W X-rays.Accordingly,the sensor developed in this work has high potential to measure pressure in high-temperature and extreme environments such as are faced in geothermal energy extraction,deep well dilling,aeroengines and gas turbines. | Chen Wu Xudong Fang Qiang Kang Ziyan Fang Junxia Wu Hongtao He Dong Zhang Libo Zha Bian Tian Ryutaro Maedai Zhuangde Jjang | 2023 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2023,9,2: | 1 |

| 17 | Selective harvesting at rational intervals promotes carbon sequestration in temperate coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forests in China显示文摘Evidence-based selective cutting at prescribed intervals as part of good forest management can enhance the carbon sequestration capacity of the forest.The effect of forest management on carbon sequestration has,however,not been quantified.Thus,carbon content of various organs was measured for 323 tree species,247 shrub species,and233 herb species in seven temperate coniferous and broadleaved mixed forests that were subjected to selective cutting with restoration durations of 100,55,45,36,25,14,and6 years to explore dynamic changes in carbon storage.The results showed that biomass carbon allocation in different organs followed a pattern:trunk>root>branch>leaf for all forests.With longer restoration durations,more carbon accumulated in different organs and in soils.Interestingly,when the restoration duration exceeded 50 years,carbon storage in ecosystem was larger than that in primary forests with 100-year cutting intervals,suggesting that a reasonable selective cutting interval can increase forest carbon sequestration.Mean diameter at breast height(DBH)and forest carbon storage were significantly positively correlated,and carbon storage of selectively cut forests exceeded that of primary forests when the stand mean DBH exceeded 15.66 cm.Therefore,mean DBH of forests can be an indicator for combining sustainable forest management and forest carbon sequestration.Additionally,the classic coefficients of 0.45 and 0.50 used to estimate carbon sequestration underestimated values by 2.65%and overestimated by 8.16%,respectively,in comparison with the measured carbon content from different plant organs. | Jihua Hou Junxia Tian Li Xu Zihao Zhang Zhi Chen Nianpeng He | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,3: | 0 |

| 19 | HSPA8 acts as an amyloidase to suppress necroptosis by inhibiting and reversing functional amyloid formation显示文摘Ultra-stable fibrous structure is a hallmark of amyloids.In contrast to canonical disease-related amyloids,emerging research indicates that a significant number of cellular amyloids,termed‘functional amyloids’,contribute to signal transduction as temporal signaling hubs in humans.However,it is unclear how these functional amyloids are effectively disassembled to terminate signal transduction.RHIM motif-containing amyloids,the largest functional amyloid family discovered thus far,play an important role in mediating necroptosis signal transduction in mammalian cells.Here,we identify heat shock protein family A member 8(HSPA8)as a new type of enzyme—which we name as‘amyloidase’—that directly disassembles RHIM-amyloids to inhibit necroptosis signaling in cells and mice.Different from its role in chaperone-mediated autophagy where it selects substrates containing a KFERQ-like motif,HSPA8 specifically recognizes RHIM-containing proteins through a hydrophobic hexapeptide motif N(X_(1))φ(X_(3)).The SBD domain of HSPA8 interacts with RHIM-containing proteins,preventing proximate RHIM monomers from stacking into functional fibrils;furthermore,with the NBD domain supplying energy via ATP hydrolysis,HSPA8 breaks down pre-formed RHIM-amyloids into non-functional monomers.Notably,HSPA8’s amyloidase activity in disassembling functional RHIM-amyloids does not require its co-chaperone system.Using this amyloidase activity,HSPA8 reverses the initiator RHIM-amyloids(formed by RIP1,ZBP1,and TRIF)to prevent necroptosis initiation,and reverses RIP3-amyloid to prevent necroptosis execution,thus eliminating multi-level RHIM-amyloids to effectively prevent spontaneous necroptosis activation.The discovery that HSPA8 acts as an amyloidase dismantling functional amyloids provides a fundamental understanding of the reversibility nature of functional amyloids,a property distinguishing them from disease-related amyloids that are unbreakable in vivo. | Erpeng Wu Wenyan He Chenlu Wu Zhangcheng Chen Shijie Zhou Xialian Wu Zhiheng Hu Kelong Jia Jiasong Pan Limin Wang Jie Qin Dan Liu Junxia Lu Huayi Wang Jixi Li Sheng Wang Liming Sun | 2023 | Cell Research2023,33,11: | 0 |
