| 1 | Genetic diversity of rice cultivars (Oryza sativa L.) in China and the temporal trends in recent fifty years显示文摘To understand geographical distribution of the genetic diversity of rice cultivars {Oryza sativa L.) and its trends in recent fifty years in China, 453 ’ accessions were analyzed by 36 microsatellites loci and 42 phenotypic traits. Results revealed that the genetic diversity by SSRs is highly consistent with that by phenotypic traits and the genetic diversity of indica cultivars was higher than that of japonica cultivars; the genetic diversity of cultivars declined from 1950s to 1980s and then increased greatly; among the six rice ecological zones (REZs), genetic diversity of REZTl was the highest and those of REZV and REZVT were the lowest at both DNA and phenotypic level. Jiangsu and Jiangxi provinces in the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River and Sichuan province in southwest of China were the areas with the highest genetic diversity. | 3 | Colorectal cancer burden,trends and risk factors in China:A review and comparison with the United States显示文摘Objective:China and the United States(the U.S.)have the heaviest colorectal cancer(CRC)burden with considerable variations in temporal trends.This study aims to analyze the temporal patterns of CRC burden and its risk factors in China and the U.S.across the past three decades.Methods:Data were extracted from the Global Burden of Disease(GBD)Study in 2019,including cases,deaths,disability-adjusted life-years(DALYs),age-standardized rate(ASR),and summary exposure value(SEV)of CRC in China and the U.S.between 1990 and 2019.Annual average percentage changes(AAPCs)of CRC burden were calculated using the Joinpoint regression model.The mortality in CRC attributable to potential risk factors was characterized by countries,gender,and age groups.Results:In 2019,there were 607,900 and 227,241 CRC cases,and 261,777 and 84,026 CRC deaths in China and the U.S.,respectively.The age-standardized incidence rate(ASIR)was 30.55 per 100,000 in China and 41.86 per100,000 in the U.S.,and the age-standardized mortality rate(ASMR)was 13.86 per 100,000 in China and 14.77 per100,000 in the U.S.CRC incidence,mortality,and DALY rate in the U.S.showed downward trends in the past three decades(AAPC=-0.47,-1.06,and-0.88,respectively),while upward trends were observed in China(AAPC=3.11,1.05,and 0.91,respectively).Among the cause of CRC,the leading risk factor contributing to CRC death was low milk in China and smoking in the U.S.,respectively.Conclusions:From 1990 to 2019,the burden of CRC in China increased dramatically,particularly for males and middle-aged and elderly people.The management of the major risk factors associated with the high burden of CRC should be enhanced. | Qianru Li Hongliang Wu Maomao Cao He Li Siyi He Fan Yang Xinxin Yan Shaoli Zhang Yi Teng Changfa Xia Ji Peng Wanqing Chen | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2022,34,5: | 6 |
| 4 | Genetic structure and diversity of Oryza sativa L. in Guizhou,China显示文摘Preserving many kinds of rice resources and rich variations, Guizhou Province is one of the districts with the highest genetic diversity of cultivated rice (Oryza sativa L.) in China. In the current research, genetic diversity and structure of 537 accessions of cultivated rice from Guizhou were studied using 36 microsatellite markers and 39 phenotypic characters. The results showed that the model-based genetic structure was the same as genetic-distance-based one using SSRs but somewhat different from the documented classification (mainly based on phenotype) of two subspecies. The accessions being classified into indica by phenotype but japonica by genetic structure were much more than that being classified into japonica by phenotype but indica by genetic structure. Like Ding Ying’s taxonomic sys- tem of cultivated rice, the subspecific differentiation was the most distinct differentiation within culti- vated rice. But the differentiation within indica or japonica population was different: japonica presented clearer differentiation between soil-watery ecotypes than indica, and indica presented clearer differen- tiation between seasonal ecotypes than japonica. Cultivated rices in Guizhou revealed high genetic diversity at both DNA and phenotypic levels. | 5 | Spatial heterogeneity of lake eutrophication caused by physiogeographic conditions:An analysis of 143 lakes in China显示文摘In order to identify the effect of geographic characteristics on the variations of nutrient concentrations and the utilization efficiency of nutrients by phytoplankton, data from 143 lakes, from 2008 to 2010, including three very different types of topography, i.e., the first topography ladder(FTL), second topography ladder(STL), and third topography ladder(TTL), were statistically analyzed. Lakes in the FTL and STL, located at high elevation(above1000 m) and low longitudes(lower than 105° E), were sporadically oligotrophic, whereas lakes in the TTL were almost all mesotrophic and eutrophic. The trophic level index(TLI)became higher with the rise of longitude. Two turning points(5 and 15°C) on the curve of TLI as function of the average annual temperature(AAT) corresponded with the AAT in different lake regions in the STL and TTL. Because the responses of TLI to AAT differ significantly, there were variations of nutrient and algal biomass concentrations in different lake regions in the same type of topography ladder. According to the differences in utilization efficiency of total nitrogen or total phosphorus by phytoplankton, China could be partitioned into six lake regions. | 8 | An acid-triggered porphyrin-based block copolymer for enhanced photodynamic antibacterial efficacy显示文摘Bacterial infection, especially multidrug-resistant(MDR) bacterial infection has threatened public health drastically. Here, we fabricate an 'acid-triggered' nanoplatform for enhanced photodynamic antibacterial activity by reducing the aggregation of photosensitizers(PSs) in bacterial acidic microenvironment. Specifically, a functional amphiphilic block copolymer was first synthesized by using a pH-sensitive monomer, 2-(diisopropylamino) ethyl methacrylate(DPA) and porphyrin-based methacrylate(TPPC6MA) with poly(oligo(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate)(POEGMA) as the macromolecular chain transfer agent, and POEGMA-b-[PDPA-co-PTPPC6MA] block copolymer was further self-assembled into spherical nanoparticles(PDPA-TPP). PDPA-TPP nanoparticles possess an effective electrostatic adherence to negatively charged bacterial cell membrane, since they could rapidly achieve positive charge in acidic bacterial media. Meanwhile, the acid-triggered dissociation of PDPA-TPP nanoparticles could reduce the aggregation caused quenching(ACQ) of the photosensitizers, leading to around 5 folds increase of the singlet oxygen(1O2) quantum yield. In vitro results demonstrated that the 'acid-triggered' PDPA-TPP nanoparticles could kill most of MDR S. aureus(Gram-positive) and MDR E. coli(Gram-negative) by enhanced photodynamic therapy, and they could resist wound infection and accelerate wound healing effectively in vivo. Furthermore, PDPA-TPP nanoparticles could well disperse the biofilm and almost kill all the biofilm-containing bacteria. | 18 | MED4 gene positively affects preadipocyte differentiation in Chinese red steppe cattle显示文摘Background:The regulatory genes related to lipid metabolism affect the intramuscular fat(IMF)content and improve meat quality traits.Mediator Complex Subunit 4(MED4),a vitamin D receptor protein,affects vitamin D,livestock growth,carcass traits,and triglyceride deposition.However,the physiological function of the MED4 gene on bovine adipocyte differentiation remains unknown.Methods:This study explored the function of the MED4 gene in preadipocyte differentiation in Chinese Red Steppe cattle.The overexpression plasmid and the interference sequences of the MED4 gene were constructed to detect the effects of the MED4 gene on adipogenesis and biomakers using quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blotting.Results:The MED4 gene had significantly high expression during preadipocyte differentiation(p<0.05).Overexpression of the MED4 gene increased the expression of the PPARγgene,a preadipocyte differentiation biomarker,improved cellular lipid droplets and triglycerides accumulation,and positively accelerated adipocyte maturation(p<0.05).Interference of the MED4 gene can negatively regulate preadipocyte differentiation.Conclusion:This study showed that the MED4 gene may affect the preadipocyte differentiation and adipogenesis in Chinese Red Steppe cattle by regulating the PPARγgene. | MINGHONG WEI CHENG XIAO JIAN WU LIHONG QIN HONGLIANG LIU YANG CAO YUMIN ZHAO | 2023 | BIOCELL2023,47,9: | 0 |

| 20 | Intrinsically patterned corrals in monolayer Ag_(5)Se_(2) and selective molecular co-adsorption显示文摘Functionalized two-dimensional(2D)materials play an important role in both fundamental sciences and practical applications.The construction and precise control of patterns at the atomic-scale are necessary for selective and multiple functionalization.Here we report the fabrication of monolayer pentasilver diselenide(Ag_(5)Se_(2)),a new type of intrinsically patterned 2D material,by direct selenization of a Ag(111)surface.The atomic arrangement is determined by a combination of scanning tunneling microscopy(STM),low-energy electron diffraction(LEED),and density-functional-theory(DFT)calculations.Large-scale STM images exhibit a quasi-periodic pattern of stoichiometric triangular domains with a side length of~15 nm and apical offsets.The boundaries between triangular domains are sub-stoichiometric.Deposition of different molecules on the patterned Ag_(5)Se_(2) exhibits selective adsorption behavior.Pentacene molecules preferentially adsorb on the boundaries,while tetracyanoquinodimethane(TCNQ)molecules adsorb both on the boundaries and the triangular domains.By co-depositing pentacene and TCNQ molecules,we successfully construct molecular corrals with pentacene on the boundaries encircling TCNQ molecules on the triangular domains.The realization of epitaxial large-scale and high-quality,monolayer Ag_(5)Se_(2) extends the family of intrinsically patterned 2D materials and provides a paradigm for dual functionalization of 2D materials. | Jianchen Lu Shiru Song Shuai Zhang Yang Song Yun Cao Zhenyu Wang Li Huang Hongliang Lu Yu-Yang Zhang Sokrates T.Pantelides Shixuan Du Xiao Lin Hong-Jun Gao | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,7: | 0 |
