1Arabidopsis F-box gene FOA1 involved in ABA signaling显示文摘The expression of FOA1(F-box overexpressed/oppressed ABA signaling) in different organs of Arabidopsis,and in response to ABA and NaCl,was analyzed.The expression level of FOA1 is higher in the root and is lower in the stem,and is induced rapidly by ABA and NaCl.The phenotypes of T-DNA insertion mutant foa1 and FOA1 overexpression lines FOA1ox1 and FOA1ox2 were analyzed.The foa1 mutant exhibited a lower germination rate,shorter root length,more stomatal opening,increased proline accumulation and hypersensitivity to ABA compared with the wild type.In contrast,the overexpression lines showed lower sensitivity to ABA than the wild type.The expression levels of several ABA and stress-responsive transcription factors and genes were altered in the foa1 mutant in response to ABA.Compared with the wild type,the expression levels of ABA-responsive transcription factors were higher,but ABA and stress-responsive genes were lower in foa1 mutant.This study demonstrates that FOA1 is an ABA signaling-related gene,and may play a negative role in ABA signaling.PENG Juan YU DaShi WANG LiQun XIE MinMin YUAN CongYing WANG Yu TANG DongYing ZHAO XiaoYing LIU XuanMing 2012Science China(Life Sciences)2012,55,6:12
2Waste oyster shell as a kind of active filler to treat the combined wastewater at an estuary显示文摘Estuaries have been described as one of the most difcult environments on Earth. It is difcult to know how to treat the combined wastewater in tidal rivers at the estuary, where the situation is very diferent from ordinary fresh water rivers. Waste oyster shell was used as the active filler in this study in a bio-contact oxidation tank to treat the combined wastewater at the Fengtang Tidal River. With a middle-experimental scale of 360 m3/day, the average removal efciency of COD, BOD, NH3-N, TP and TSS was 80.05%, 85.02%,86.59%, 50.58% and 85.32%, respectively, in this bio-contact oxidation process. The living microbes in the biofilms on the waste oyster shell in this bio-contact oxidation tank, which were mainly composed of zoogloea, protozoa and micro-metazoa species, revealed that waste oyster shell as the filler was suitable material for combined wastewater degradation. This treatment method using waste oyster shell as active filler was then applied in a mangrove demonstration area for water quality improvement near the experiment area, with a treatment volume of 5 × 103m3/day. Another project was also successfully applied in a constructed wetland, with a wastewater treatment volume of 1 × 103m3/day. 4Human ACE2-Functionalized Gold“Virus-Trap”Nanostructures for Accurate Capture of SARS-CoV-2 and Single-Virus SERS Detection显示文摘The current COVID-19 pandemic urges the extremely sensitive and prompt detection of SARS-CoV-2 virus.Here,we present a Human Angiotensin-converting-enzyme 2(ACE2)-functionalized gold“virus traps”nanostructure as an extremely sensitive SERS biosensor,to selectively capture and rapidly detect S-protein expressed coronavirus,such as the current SARS-CoV-2 in the contaminated water,down to the single-virus level.Such a SERS sensor features extraordinary 106-fold virus enrichment originating from high-affinity of ACE2 with S protein as well as“virus-traps”composed of oblique gold nanoneedles,and 109-fold enhancement of Raman signals originating from multi-component SERS effects.Furthermore,the identification standard of virus signals is established by machine-learning and identification techniques,resulting in an especially low detection limit of 80 copies mL^(−1) for the simulated contaminated water by SARS-CoV-2 virus with complex circumstance as short as 5 min,which is of great significance for achieving real-time monitoring and early warning of coronavirus.Moreover,here-developed method can be used to establish the identification standard for future unknown coronavirus,and immediately enable extremely sensitive and rapid detection of novel virus.Yong Yang Yusi Peng Chenglong Lin Li Long Jingying Hu Jun He Hui Zeng Zhengren Huang Zhi-Yuan Li Masaki Tanemura Jianlin Shi John R.Lombardi Xiaoying Luo 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,7:6
5Polymer-based ?exible bioelectronics显示文摘Due to the mechanical mismatch between conventional rigid electronic devices and soft tissues at nature,a lot of interests have been attracted to develop flexible bioelectronics that work well both in vitro and in vivo. To this end, polymers that can be used for both key components and substrates are indispensable to achieve high performances such as high sensitivity and long-term stability for sensing applications.Here we will summarize the recent advances on the synthesis of a variety of polymers, the design of typical architectures and the integration of different functions for the flexible bioelectronic devices. 6Ectopic expression of fungal EcGDH improves nitrogen assimilation and grain yield in rice显示文摘NADP(H)-dependent glutamate dehydrogenases(GDH) in lower organisms have stronger ammonium affinity than those in higher plants. Here we report that transgenic rice overexpressing the EcGDH from Eurotium cheralieri exhibited significantly enhanced aminating activities. 7Charge‑Transfer Resonance and Electromagnetic Enhancement Synergistically Enabling MXenes with Excellent SERS Sensitivity for SARS‑CoV‑2 S Protein Detection显示文摘The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 has seriously threatened human health.Rapidly and sensitively detecting SARSCoV-2 viruses can help control the spread of viruses.However,it is an arduous challenge to apply semiconductor-based substrates for virus SERS detection due to their poor sensitivity.Therefore,it is worthwhile to search novel semiconductor-based substrates with excellent SERS sensitivity.Herein we report,for the first time,Nb2C and Ta2C MXenes exhibit a remarkable SERS enhancement,which is synergistically enabled by the charge transfer resonance enhancement and electromagnetic enhancement.Their SERS sensitivity is optimized to 3.0×10^6 and 1.4×10^6 under the optimal resonance excitation wavelength of 532 nm.Additionally,remarkable SERS sensitivity endows Ta2C MXenes with capability to sensitively detect and accurately identify the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.Moreover,its detection limit is as low as 5×10^−9 M,which is beneficial to achieve real-time monitoring and early warning of novel coronavirus.This research not only provides helpful theoretical guidance for exploring other novel SERS-active semiconductor-based materials but also provides a potential candidate for the practical applications of SERS technology.Yusi Peng Chenglong Lin Li Long Tanemura Masaki Mao Tang Lili Yang Jianjun Liu Zhengren Huang Zhiyuan Li Xiaoying Luo John RLombardi Yong Yang 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,3:3
8Fiber-shaped organic electrochemical transistors for biochemical detections with high sensitivity and stability显示文摘Precise and continuous monitoring of biochemicals by biosensors assists to understand physiological functions for various diagnostics and therapeutic applications.For implanted biosensors,small size and flexibility are essential for minimizing tissue damage and achieving accurate detection.However,the active surface area of sensor decreases as the sensor becomes smaller,which will increase the impedance and decrease the signal to noise ratio,resulting in a poor detection limit.Taking advantages of local amplification effect,organic electrochemical transistors(OECTs)constitute promising candidates for high-sensitive monitoring.However,their detections in deep tissues are rarely reported.Herein,we report a family of implantable,fiber-shaped all-in-one OECTs based on carbon nanotube fibers for versatile biochemical detection including H2O2,glucose,dopamine and glutamate.These fiber-shaped OECTs demonstrated high sensitivity,dynamical stability in physiological environment and antiinterference capability.After implantation in mouse brain,7-day dopamine monitoring in vivo was realized for the first time.These fiber-shaped OECTs could be great additions to the'life science'tool box and represent promising avenue for biomedical monitoring.Xiaoying Wu Jianyou Feng Jue Deng Zhichang Cui Liyuan Wang Songlin Xie Chuanrui Chen Chengqiang Tang Zhengqi Han Hongbo Yu Xuemei Sun Huisheng Peng 2020Science China Chemistry2020,63,9:3
9Holocene Abrupt Climate Shifts and Mid-Holocene Drought Intervals Recorded in Barkol Lake of Northern Xinjiang of China显示文摘Study results in this paper have indicated that the Holocene climate in Xinjiang,Northwestern China has been alternating between wet and dry conditions,and was punctuated with a series of abrupt climate shifts.A sediment core taken from Barkol Lake in the northern Xinjiang of Northwest China was analyzed at 1cm interval for grain-size distribution.Abrupt climate shifts revealed by the grain-size proxy occurred at ca 1.4,3.0,4.3,5.6,8.0 cal kyr B.P.,which were well correlated to both the abrupt shifts recorded in the North Atlantic Ocean(NAO)and the Holocene sea surface temperature(SST)cooling events in the Arabian Ocean.The correlation indicated that the climatic changes in the extreme arid Northwest China were associated with the NAO,probably via the North Atlantic Oscillation-affected westerly winds.The strength and position of westerly winds probably modulated the Siberian-Mongolian high-pressure system(winter monsoon),and played an important role in climate change of Northwest China.Moreover,an evident drought interval during the middle Holocene was also revealed by grain-size proxy.XUE Jibin ZHONG Wei ZHAO Yinjuan PENG Xiaoying 2008Chinese Geographical Science2008,18,1:3

11Small interfering RNA delivery to the neurons near the amyloid plaques for improved treatment of Alzheimer’s disease显示文摘Gene therapy represents a promising treatment for the Alzheimer’s disease(AD). However,gene delivery specific to brain lesions through systemic administration remains big challenge. In our previous work, we have developed an siRNA nanocomplex able to be specifically delivered to the amyloid plaques through surface modification with both CGN peptide for the blood–brain barrier(BBB)penetration and QSH peptide for β-amyloid binding. But, whether the as-designed nanocomplex could indeed improve the gene accumulation in the impaired neuron cells and ameliorate AD-associated symptoms remains further study. Herein, we prepared the nanocomplexes with an siRNA against β-site amyloid precursor protein-cleaving enzyme 1(BACE1), the rate-limiting enzyme of Aβ production, as the therapeutic siRNA of AD. The nanocomplexes exhibited high distribution in the Aβ deposits-enriched hippocampus, especially in the neurons near the amyloid plaques after intravenous administration. In APP/PS1 transgenic mice, the nanocomplexes down-regulated BACE1 in both mRNA and protein levels,as well as Aβ and amyloid plaques to the level of wild-type mice. Moreover, the nanocomplexes significantly increased the level of synaptophysin and rescued memory loss of the AD transgenic mice without hematological or histological toxicity. 12Methylesterification of cell-wall pectin controls the diurnal flower-opening times in rice显示文摘Flowers are the core reproductive organ of plants, and flowering is essential for cross-pollination. Diurnal flower-opening time is thus a key trait influencing reproductive isolation, hybrid breeding, and thermostability in plants. However, the molecular mechanisms controlling this trait remain unknown. Here, we report that rice Diurnal Flower Opening Time 1 (DFOT1) modulates pectin methylesterase (PME) activity to regulate pectin methylesterification levels of the lodicule cell walls, which affect lodicule swelling to control diurnal flower-opening time. DFOT1 is specifically expressed in the lodicules, and its expression gradually increases with the approach to flowering but decreases with flowering. Importantly, a knockout of DFOT1 showed earlier diurnal flower opening. We demonstrate that DFOT1 interacts directly with multiple PMEs to promote their activity. Knockout of PME40 also resulted in early diurnal flower opening, whereas overexpression of PME42 delayed diurnal flower opening. Lower PME activity was observed to be associated with higher levels of pectin methylesterification and the softening of cell walls in lodicules, which contribute to the absorption of water by lodicules and cause them to swell, thus promoting early diurnal flower opening. Higher PME activity had the opposite effect. 13A Multi-interlayer LMAS Joint of C/C-SiC Composites and LAS Glass Ceramics显示文摘Porous C/C-SiC composites were prepared through a two-step chemical vapor infiltration process,and a multi-interlayer joint of Li20-MgO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2(LMAS) was applied to join C/C-SiC composites and lithium aluminum silicate(LAS) glass ceramics by means of a vacuum hot-pressing technique.Plenty of SiC whiskers were generated in the pores of low-density C/C composites during chemical vapor deposition process,which is essentia! to form a zigzag interface structure between C/C-SiC substrate and the LMAS interlayer.The average shear strength of the LMAS joint was improved from 12.17 to 19.91 MPa after changing the composites from high-density C/C composites(1.75 g/cm^3) with a CVD-SiC coating to the C/C-SiC composites with a low density(1.48 g/cm^3).The improvement of the joint strength is mainly attributed to the formation of the inlay structure at the SiC-C/C and SiC-LMAS interfaces.Qiangang Fu Fengling Zhao Hejun Li Han Peng Xiaoying Nan 2015Journal of Materials Science & Technology2015,31,5:2
14An efficient papaya leaf distortion mosaic potyvirus vector for virus-induced gene silencing in papaya显示文摘Papaya(Carica papaya L.)is regarded as an excellent model for genomic studies of tropical trees because of its short generation time and its small genome that has been sequenced.However,functional genomic studies in papaya depend on laborious genetic transformations because no rapid tools exist for this species.Here,we developed a highly efficient virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS)vector for use in papaya by modifying an artificially attenuated infectious clone of papaya leaf distortion mosaic virus(PLDMV;genus:Potyvirus),PLDMV-E,into a stable Nimble Cloning(NC)-based PLDMV vector,pPLDMV-NC,in Escherichia coli.The target fragments for gene silencing can easily be cloned into pPLDMV-NC without multiple digestion and ligation steps.Using this PLDMV VIGS system,we silenced and characterized five endogenous genes in papaya,including two common VIGS marker genes,namely,phytoene desaturase,Mg-chelatase H subunit,putative GIBBERELLIN(GA)-INSENSITIVE DWARF1A and 1B encoding GA receptors;and the cytochrome P450 gene CYP83B1,which encodes a key enzyme involved in benzylglucosinolate biosynthesis.The results demonstrate that our newly developed PLDMV VIGS vector is a rapid and convenient tool for functional genomic studies in papaya.Decai Tuo Pu Yan Guangyuan Zhao Hongguang Cui Guopeng Zhu Yang Liu Xiukun Yang He Wang Xiaoying Li Wentao Shen Peng Zhou 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:2

19Dryness-wetness change and regional differentiation of flood-drought disasters in Guangdong during 1480-1940AD显示文摘Based on the historical records of the drought and flood disasters during 1480-1940AD, this paper reconstructs the sequences of wetness index (WI) and drought and flood disasters. We find a good identical relationship between the fluctuation of WI sequence and the δ18O record of the GISP2 ice core in Greenland, which shows an apparent monsoonal disposal pattern of moisture and temperature. By applying the Morlet Wavelet Transform Method to deal with the data, several apparent periodicities, such as 7-8a, 11-15a, 20-23a and ca 50a, are revealed, among which some can be attributed to the solar forcing. Based on results of Cluster Analysis of dry-wet changes, we resume the regional differentiation pattern of flood-drought disasters all over Guangdong during different climatic intervals in the LIA and, find the western and northern parts of Guangdong have undergone drastic changes in drought-flood regional differentiation, but the eastern part is relatively stable, and the area of the Pearl River Delta shows stable condition of more flood disasters.ZHONG Wei XUE Jibin PENG Xiaoying ZHAO Yinjuan 2005Journal of Geographical Sciences2005,15,3:1
20ABA-mediated regulation of leaf and root hydraulic conductance in tomato grown at elevated CO2 is associated with altered gene expression of aquaporins显示文摘Elevated CO_(2)concentration in the air(e[CO_(2)])decreases stomatal density(SD)and stomatal conductance(gs)where abscisic acid(ABA)may play a role,yet the underlying mechanism remains largely elusive.We investigated the effects of e[CO_(2)](800 ppm)on leaf gas exchange and water relations of two tomato(Solanum lycopersicum)genotypes,Ailsa Craig(WT)and its ABA-deficient mutant(flacca).Compared to plants grown at ambient CO_(2)(400 ppm),e[CO_(2)]stimulated photosynthetic rate in both genotypes,while depressed the gs only in WT.SD showed a similar response to e[CO_(2)]as gs,although the change was not significant.e[CO_(2)]increased leaf and xylem ABA concentrations and xylem sap pH,where the increases were larger in WT than in flacca.Although leaf water potential was unaffected by CO_(2)growth environment,e[CO_(2)]lowered osmotic potential,hence tended to increase turgor pressure particularly for WT.e[CO_(2)]reduced hydraulic conductance of leaf and root in WT but not in flacca,which was associated with downregulation of gene expression of aquaporins.It is concluded that ABA-mediated regulation of gs,SD,and gene expression of aquaporins coordinates the whole-plant hydraulics of tomato grown at different CO_(2)environments.Liang Fang Lamis Osama Anwar Abdelhakim Josefine Nymark Hegelund Shenglan Li Jie Liu Xiaoying Peng Xiangnan Li Zhenhua Wei Fulai Liu 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:1
