| 4 | Leap Motion-based virtual reality training for improving motor functional recovery of upper limbs and neural reorganization in subacute stroke patients显示文摘Virtual reality is nowadays used to facilitate motor recovery in stroke patients. Most virtual reality studies have involved chronic stroke patients; however, brain plasticity remains good in acute and subacute patients. Most virtual reality systems are only applicable to the proximal upper limbs(arms) because of the limitations of their capture systems. Nevertheless, the functional recovery of an affected hand is most difficult in the case of hemiparesis rehabilitation after a stroke. The recently developed Leap Motion controller can track the fine movements of both hands and fingers. Therefore, the present study explored the effects of a Leap Motion-based virtual reality system on subacute stroke. Twenty-six subacute stroke patients were assigned to an experimental group that received virtual reality training along with conventional occupational rehabilitation, and a control group that only received conventional rehabilitation. The Wolf motor function test(WMFT) was used to assess the motor function of the affected upper limb; functional magnetic resonance imaging was used to measure the cortical activation. After four weeks of treatment, the motor functions of the affected upper limbs were significantly improved in all the patients, with the improvement in the experimental group being significantly better than in the control group. The action performance time in the WMFT significantly decreased in the experimental group. Furthermore, the activation intensity and the laterality index of the contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex increased in both the experimental and control groups. These results confirmed that Leap Motion-based virtual reality training was a promising and feasible supplementary rehabilitation intervention, could facilitate the recovery of motor functions in subacute stroke patients. | 8 | Prognostic evaluation of postoperative adjuvant therapy for operable cervical cancer:10 years'experience of National Cancer Center in China显示文摘Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic factors and to evaluate the impact of adjuvant therapy on clinical outcome for early-stage cervical cancer.Methods: The clinical-pathological data of all 1,335 patients with the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO) Ib–IIa cervical cancer treated with primary radical surgery at the Chinese National Cancer Center between May 2007 and Dec 2013 were retrospectively reviewed.The median follow-up was 70 months.Results: Of all the patients,61.6% of the cases received adjuvant therapy,with 5-year disease-free survival(DFS)of 92.1% and 5-year overall survival(OS) of 95.0%.In multivariate analysis,differentiation of G3(P<0.05),lymph node metastasis(LNM,P<0.05) and lymphovascular space invasion(LVSI,P<0.05) were independent predictors for OS,while LNM(P<0.05),deep stroma invasion(DSI,P<0.05) and LVSI(P<0.05) were independent factors for DFS.The samples were stratified by histologic type,and cervical squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) was found to share the same independent factors except for differentiation of OS.As to patients with cervical adenocarcinoma/adenosquamous carcinoma(AC/ASC),differentiation was the independent predictor of OS(P<0.05); and LVSI of DFS(P<0.05).Of 236 patients with high-risk factors,there was no significant difference in survival between concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT,n=195),radiotherapy(RT,n=24),and chemotherapy(CT,n=17).Among the 190 patients with LNM who underwent CCRT,124 cases showed improved DFS after sequential CT(P=0.118),with a recurrence rate decrease of 14%,though the difference was not statistically significant.Patients with single intermediate-risk factors like DSI or LVSI were found to partially benefit from adjuvant therapy,but the difference was not statistically significant.Conclusions: LNM,LVSI,DSI and differentiation were found to be independent prognostic factors for operable cervical cancer.Aggressive postoperative adjuvant therapy based on single risk factors in Chinese National Cancer Center could benefit survival.CCRT+CT outperformed CCRT in high-risk patients.For patients with single non-high-risk factor,the role of adjuvant therapy needs to be further discussed. | Tong Shu Dan Zhao Bin Li Yating Wang Shuanghuan Liu Pingping Li Jing Zuo Ping Ba i RongZhang Lingying Wu | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,6: | 12 |
| 9 | Effect of drainage on CO_2, CH_4, and N_2O fluxes from aquaculture ponds during winter in a subtropical estuary of China显示文摘Aquaculture ponds are dominant features of the landscape in the coastal zone of China.Generally,aquaculture ponds are drained during the non-culture period in winter.However,the effects of such drainage on the production and flux of greenhouse gases(GHGs)from aquaculture ponds are largely unknown.In the present study,field-based research was performed to compare the GHG fluxes between one drained pond(DP,with a water depth of 0.05 m)and one undrained pond(UDP,with a water depth of 1.16 m)during one winter in the Min River estuary of southeast China.Over the entire study period,the mean CO_2flux in the DP was(0.75±0.12)mmol/(m^2·hr),which was significantly higher than that in the UDP of(-0.49±0.09)mmol/(m^2·hr)(p<0.01).This indicates that drainage drastically transforms aquaculture ponds from a net sink to a net source of CO_2in winter.Mean CH_4and N_2O emissions were significantly higher in the DP compared to those in the UDP(CH_4=(0.66±0.31)vs.(0.07±0.06)mmol/(m^2·hr)and N_2O=(19.54±2.08)vs.(0.01±0.04)μmol/(m^2·hr))(p<0.01),suggesting that drainage would also significantly enhance CH_4and N_2O emissions.Changes in environmental variables(including sediment temperature,p H,salinity,redox status,and water depth)contributed significantly to the enhanced GHG emissions following pond drainage.Furthermore,analysis of the sustained-flux global warming and cooling potentials indicated that the combined global warming potentials of the GHG fluxes were significantly higher in the DP than in the UDP(p<0.01),with values of739.18 and 26.46 mg CO_2-eq/(m^2·hr),respectively.Our findings suggested that drainage of aquaculture ponds can increase the emissions of potent GHGs from the coastal zone of China to the atmosphere during winter,further aggravating the problem of global warming. | Ping Yang Derrick Y.F Lai Jia F.Huang Chuan Tong | 2018 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,3: | 12 |

| 11 | Chinese herbal medicine reduces mortality in patients with severe and critical coronavirus disease 2019: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM)in patients with severe/critical coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).In this retrospective study,data were collected from 662 patients with severe/critical COVID-19 who were admitted to a designated hospital to treat patients with severe COVID-19 in Wuhan before March 20,2020.All patients were divided into an exposed group(CHM users)and a control group(non-users).After propensity score matching in a 1:1 ratio,156 CHM users were matched by propensity score to 156 non-users.No significant differences in seven baseline clinical variables were found between the two groups of patients.All-cause mortality was reported in 13 CHM users who died and 36 non-users who died.After multivariate adjustment,the mortality risk of CHM users was reduced by 82.2%(odds ratio 0.178,95%CI 0.076–0.418;P<0.001)compared with the non-users.Secondly,age(odds ratio 1.053,95%CI 1.023–1.084;P<0.001)and the proportion of severe/critical patients(odds ratio 0.063,95%CI 0.028–0.143;P<0.001)were the risk factors of mortality.These results show that the use of CHM may reduce the mortality of patients with severe/critical COVID-19. | Guohua Chen Wen Su Jiayao Yang Dan Luo Ping Xia Wen Jia Xiuyang Li Chuan Wang Suping Lang Qingbin Meng Ying Zhang Yuhe Ke An Fan Shuo Yang Yujiao Zheng Xuepeng Fan Jie Qiao Fengmei Lian Li Wei Xiaolin Tong | 2020 | Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6: | 10 |

The resultant polymer, with the approximate formula [SiH1.2(CH3)0.71(CH2CH=CH2)0.09CH2]n, has been characterized by 1H, 13C, and 29Si NMR, GPC, TG and elemental analysis. It could be cross-linked thermally at 170℃in the absence of oxygen. | 13 | Correlation of Seven Biological Factors(Hsp90α,p53,MDM2,Bcl-2,Bax,Cytochrome C,and Cleaved caspase3)with Clinical Outcomes of ALK+ Anaplastic Large-cell Lymphoma显示文摘Objective To explore correlation of seven apoptosis‐related proteins (Hsp90α,p53,MDM2,Bcl‐2,Bax,Cytochrome C,and Cleaved caspase3) with clinical outcomes of ALK+ anaplastic large‐cell lymphoma (ALCL).Methods Using immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence double staining methods,the expressions of these seven apoptosis‐associated proteins were studied to clarify their relationship with clinical outcomes of 36 ALK+ and 25 ALK‐ systemic ALCL patients enrolled between 1996 and 2006.The relationship of these apoptosis‐regulating proteins with NPM‐ALK status was also evaluated with the tyrosine inhibitor herbimycin A (HA) in vitro by immunocytochemistry,Western blotting and flow cytometric assays.Results The presence of Hsp90α‐,MDM2‐,Bax‐,Cytochrome C,and Cleaved caspase3‐positive tumor cells was found significantly different in ALK+ and ALK‐ ALCLs ,which was correlated with highly favorable clinical outcome.The Bcl‐2‐ and p53‐positive tumor cells were found in groups of patients with unfavorable prognosis.Inhibition of NPM‐ALK by HA could reactivate the p53 protein and subsequent apoptosis‐related proteins and therefore induced apoptosis in ALK+ ALCL cells.Conclusion Our results suggest that these seven proteins might be involved in apoptosis regulation and associated with clinical outcome of ALK+ systemic ALCLs.We also reveal a dynamic chain relation that NPM‐ALK regulates p53 expression and subsequent apoptosis cascade in ALK+ ALCLs. | LI Hui Ling HUANG Xue Ping ZHOU Xin Hua JI Tian Hai WU Zi Qing WANG Zhi Qiang JIANG Hui Yong LIU Fan Rong ZHAO Tong | 2011 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2011,24,6: | 9 |
| 14 | CNP signal pathway up-regulated in rectum of depressed rats and the interventional effect of Xiaoyaosan显示文摘AIM:To investigate the distribution and expressionof C-type natriuretic peptide(CNP)/natriuretic peptide receptor B(NPR-B) in the rectum of a rodent depression model and the interventional effect of Xiaoyaosan(XYS).METHODS:Male rats(n = 45) of clean grade(200 ± 20 g) were divided into five groups after one week of adaptive feeding:primary control,depression model,low dose XYS,middle dose XYS,and high dose XYS.The animal experiment continued for 3 wk.Primary controls were fed normally ad libitum.The rats of all other groups were raised in solitary and exposed to classic chronic mild unpredictable stimulation each day.XYS groups were perfused intragastrically with low dose,middle dose,and high dose XYS one hour before stimulation.Primary control and depression model groups were perfused intragastrically with normal saline under similar conditions as the XYS groups.Three weeks later,all rats were sacrificed,and the expression levels of CNP and NPR-B in rectum tissues were analyzed by immunohistochemistry,real-time polymerase chain reaction,and Western blotting.RESULTS:CNP and NPR-B were both expressed in the rectum tissues of all rats.However,the expression levels of CNP and NPR-B at both gene and protein levels in the depression model group were significantly higher when compared to the primary control group(n = 9; P < 0.01).XYS intervention markedly inhibited the expression levels of CNP and NPR-B in depressed rats.The expression levels of CNP and NPR-B in the high dose XYS group did not significantly differ from the expression levels in the primary control group.Additionally,the high and middle dose XYS groups(but not the low dose group) significantly exhibited lower CNP and NPR-B expression levels in the rectum tissues of the respectively treated rats compared to the untreated depression model cohort(n = 9; P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:The CNP/NPR-B pathway is upregulated in the rectum of depressed rats and may be one mechanism for depression-associated digestive disorders.XYS antagonizes this pathway at least partially. | Ping Li Xu-Dong Tang Zheng-Xu Cai Juan-Juan Qiu Xue-Lian Lin Tong Zhu Lawrence Owusu Hui-Shu Guo | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,5: | 8 |

| 16 | Adsorptive property of Cu^(2+)-loaded montmorillonite clays for Escherichia coli K_(88) in vitro显示文摘The adsorption properties of Cu 2+ -loaded montmorillonite clays (MMT-Cu) for Escherichia coli K 88 as a function of time,bacteria concentrations,pH,ionic strength and temperature were investigated.The results showed that the bacteria adsorption onto MMT-Cu surface reached equilibrium after 90 min.The percentages of E.coli K 88 adsorbed onto the surfaces of MMT-Cu and montmorillonite clays (MMT) at equilibrium were 88.9% and 56.5%,respectively.Scanning electron microscopy revealed that a lot of E.coli K 88 adhered to the surface of MMT-Cu.The zeta potential of MMT-Cu was relatively high as compared to that of MMT.The adsorptive ability of MMT-Cu for E.coli K 88 was higher than that of MMT (P < 0.05).Moreover,pH,ionic strength and temperature produced a strong influence on the extent of E.coli K 88 adsorption to surface of MMT-Cu and MMT.The mechanism of adsorption of E.coli onto MMT-Cu may involve electrostatic attraction and physiochemical properties of bacterial cell walls and minerals surfaces. | Tong Guo Shoujun Cao Rui Su Zhiqiang Li Ping Hu Zirong Xu | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,11: | 7 |
| 17 | A 14-year multi-institutional collaborative study of Chinese pelvic floor surgical procedures related to pelvic organ prolapse显示文摘Background:It has been a global trend that increasing complications related to pelvic floor surgeries have been reported over time.The current study aimed to outline the development of Chinese pelvic floor surgeries related to pelvic organ prolapse(POP)over the past 14 years and investigate the potential influence of enhanced monitoring conducted by the Chinese Association of Urogynecology since 2011.Methods:A total of 44,594 women with POP who underwent pelvic floor surgeries between October 1,2004 and September 30,2018 were included from 22 tertiary academic medical centers.The data were reported voluntarily and obtained from a database.We compared the proportion of each procedure in the 7 years before and 7 years after September 30,2011.The data were analyzed by performing Z test(one-sided).Results:The number of different procedures during October 1,2011-September 30,2018 was more than twice that during October 1,2004-September 30,2011.Regarding pelvic floor surgeries related to POP,the rate of synthetic mesh procedures increased from 38.1%(5298/13,906)during October 1,2004-September 30,2011 to 46.0%(14,107/30,688)during October 1,2011-September 30,2018,whereas the rate of non-mesh procedures decreased from 61.9%(8608/13,906)to 54.0%(16,581/30,688)(Z=15.53,P<0.001).Regarding synthetic mesh surgeries related to POP,the rates of transvaginal placement of surgical mesh(TVM)procedures decreased from 94.1%(4983/5298)to 82.2%(11,603/14,107)(Z=20.79,P<0.001),but the rate of laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy(LSC)procedures increased from 5.9%(315/5298)to 17.8%(2504/14,107).Conclusions:The rate of synthetic mesh procedures increased while that of non-mesh procedures decreased significantly.The rate of TVM procedures decreased while the rate of LSC procedures increased significantly.Trial registration number:NCT03620565,http://gffzz111276e5ed644ca6squc6vf5c0v0b6wun.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn. | Zhi-Jing Sun Xiu-Qi Wang Jing-He Lang Tao Xu Yong-Xian Lu Ke-Qin Hua Jin-Song Han Huai-Fang Li Xiao-Wen Tong Ping Wang Jian-Liu Wang Xin Yang Xiang-Hua Huang Pei-Shu Liu Yan-Feng Song Hang-Mei Jin Jing-Yan Xie Lu-Wen Wang Qing-Kai Wu Jian Gong Yan Wang Li-Qun Wang Zhao-Ai Li Hui-Cheng Xu Zhi-Jun Xia Li-Na Gu Qing Liu Lan Zhu | 2021 | Chinese Medical Journal2021,,2: | 7 |
| 18 | A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. | 19 | SARS-CoV-2 promotes RIPK1 activation to facilitate viral propagation显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),is the ongoing global pandemic that poses substantial challenges to public health worldwide.A subset of COVID-19 patients experience systemic inflammatory response,known as cytokine storm,which may lead to death.Receptor-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 1(RIPK1)is an important mediator of inflammation and cell death.Here,we examined the interaction of RIPK1-mediated innate immunity with SARS-CoV-2 infection.We found evidence of RIPK1 activation in human COVID-19 lung pathological samples,and cultured human lung organoids and ACE2 transgenic mice infected by SARS-CoV-2.Inhibition of RIPK1 using multiple smallmolecule inhibitors reduced the viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in human lung organoids.Furthermore,therapeutic dosing of the RIPK1 inhibitor Nec-1s reduced mortality and lung viral load,and blocked the CNS manifestation of SARS-CoV-2 in ACE2 transgenic mice.Mechanistically,we found that the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase of SARS-CoV-2,NSP12,a highly conserved central component of coronaviral replication and transcription machinery,promoted the activation of RIPK1.Furthermore,NSP12323L variant,encoded by the SARS-CoV-2 C14408T variant first detected in Lombardy,Italy,that carries a Pro323Leu amino acid substitution in NSP12,showed increased ability to activate RIPK1.Inhibition of RIPK1 downregulated the transcriptional induction of proinflammatory cytokines and host factors including ACE2 and EGFR that promote viral entry into cells.Our results suggest that SARS-CoV-2 may have an unexpected and unusual ability to hijack the RIPK1-mediated host defense response to promote its own propagation and that inhibition of RIPK1 may provide a therapeutic option for the treatment of COVID-19. | Gang Xu Ying Li Shengyuan Zhang Haoran Peng Yunyun Wang Dekang Li Taijie Jin Zhuohao He Yilun Tong Chunting Qi Guowei Wu Kangyun Dong Jizhou Gou Yang Liu Tongyang Xiao Jing Qu Liang Li Liang Liu Ping Zhao Zheng Zhang Junying Yuan | 2021 | Cell Research2021,31,12: | 6 |
