Cocrystallization of N-donor type compounds with 5-sulfosalicylic acid:The effect of hydrogen-bonding supramolecular architectures显示文摘Benzotriazole,N,N'-dimethylpiperazine and N-methylpiperazine were applied to crystallize with 5-sulfosalicylic acid(5-H2SSA),affording three new binary molecular cocrystals [(C6H6N3+).(C7H5O6S-)].H2O(1),[(C6H16N22+)1/2.(C7H5O6S-)].H2O(2) and [(C5H14N22+).(C7H5O6S-)2].3H2O(3) under general conditions.Proton-transferring occurs from acid to nitrogen of N-donor compounds in all compounds 1,2 and 3.Analysis of the hydrogen-bonding synthons and their effects on crystal packing were also presented in the context of crystal engineering and host-guest chemistry. In compound 1,1-D infinite chains are extended to a 2-D layered architecture via strong O-H...O hydrogen bonds and then to a 3-D network by N-H...O interactions.Compound 2 and 3 both have the 1-D chain which is formed by O-H...O bonds and weak C-H...O hydrogen bonds.A common intramolecular S(6) [synthon I] ring is formed by the hydroxyl with the carboxyl group in all three compounds. | WANG Lei XU LingYan XUE RuiFeng LU XiFeng CHEN RuiXin TAO XuTang | 2012 | Science China Chemistry2012,55,1: | 8
Broadband photonic radio frequency(RF) channelization based on coherent optical frequency combs and polarization I/Q demodulation显示文摘In this work,we analyze and demonstrate a novel photonic-assisted broadband and high-resolution radio frequency(RF) channelization scheme based on dual coherent optical frequency combs(OFCs),regular optical de-muxes,and polarization I/Q demodulators in theory and experiment. The use of two coherent combs avoids precise optical alignment, and a numerical filter in digital signal processor(DSP) enables an ideal rectangular frequency response in each channel without any ultra-narrow optical filters.Besides, due to the use of polarization I/Q demodulation, ambiguous frequency estimate in direct detection can be avoided and the amplitude, phase mismatch in traditional I/Q demodulation can be mitigated. In experiment,we use two coherent OFCs with the free spectrum range(FSR) of about 40 GHz to demonstrate the channelization scheme with seven channels,500 MHz channel spacing and frequency coverage from 3.75 GHz to 7.25 GHz.The input RF tones are accurately down-converted to an intermediate frequency(IF) with a maximum frequency error of 110 kHz.Meanwhile, crosstalk and spurious free dynamic range(SFDR) of the scheme are also discussed. | DAI YiTang XU Kun XIE XiaoJun YAN Li WANG RuiXin LIN JinTong | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,7: | 5
Microwave photonics: radio-over-fiber links, systems, and applications [Invited]显示文摘Microwave photonics(MWPs)uses the strength of photonic techniques to generate, process, control, and distribute microwave signals, combining the advantages of microwaves and photonics. As one of the main topics of MWP,radio-over-fiber(RoF)links can provide features that are very difficult or even impossible to achieve with traditional technologies.Meanwhile,a considerable number of signal-processing subsystems have been carried out in the field of MWP as they are instrumental for the implementation of many functionalities. However, there are still several challenges in strengthening the performance of the technology to support systems and applications with more complex structures, multiple functionality, larger bandwidth, and larger processing capability. In this paper,we identify some of the notable challenges in MWP and review our recent work.Applications and future direction of research are also discussed. | Kun Xu Ruixin Wang Yitang Dai Feifei Yin Jianqiang Li Yuefeng Ji Jintong Lin | 2014 | Photonics Research2014,2,4: | 4
Molecular dynamics simulations of surfactant adsorption at oil/water interface under shear flow显示文摘Surfactants are extensively used in many chemical products to improve their stability, appearance, texture, and rheology. Precise control of the emulsion droplet size distribution, which depends on the characteristics of the surfactant used, is important for target-oriented product design. A complete understand! ng of the structures and dynamics of emulsion droplets at the reactor level requires coupling of two mesoscale physical constraints, that at the interfacial level, i.e., smaller than a single droplet (Mesoscale- 1), and that at the device level, i.e., larger than a single droplet (Mesoscale-2). In this work, the structures and adsorption kinetics of Mesoscale-1 surfactant molecules were studied via coarse-grained molecular dynamics. A non-equilibrium model that could introduce stable shear flow into the simulation box was used to investigate the interfacial structures at the droplet interface under different shear rates. The configurations of the surfactant molecules and adsorption amounts were compared with those obtained without flow. The adsorption kinetics for different shear rates were compared to determine the effects of hydrodynamic interactions. The dominant mechanisms governing the dynamic structures can thus be summarized as maximization of the adsorption density at the interface and minimization of flow resistance in the bulk phase (water and/or oil molecules). A scheme for coupling between Mesoscale-1 and Mesoscale-2 is proposed. This method is promising for the incorporation of interfacial structure effects into the hydrodynamics at the reactor device level for the manipulation of chemical products. | Ying Ren Qiang Zhang Ning Yang Ji Xu Jialin Liu Ruixin Yang Christian Kunkelmann Eduard Schreiner Christian Holtze Kerstin Miilheims Bernd Sachweh | 2019 | Particuology2019,17,3: | 2
Modulating Sand’s time by ion-transport-enhancement toward dendrite-free lithium metal anode显示文摘Metallic lithium is deemed as the“Holy Grail”anode in high-energy-density secondary batteries.Uncontrollable lithium dendrite growth and related issues originated from uneven concentration distribution of Li+in the vicinity of the anode, however, induce severe safety concerns and poor cycling efficiency, dragging lithium metal anode out of practical application.Herein we address these issues by using cross-linked lithiophilic amino phosphonic acid resin as the effective host with the ion-transportenhancement feature.Based on theoretical calculations and multiphysics simulation,it is found that this ion-transportenhancement feature is capable of facilitating the self-concentration kinetics of Li+and accelerating Li^(+)transfer at the electrolyte/electrode interface, leading to uniform bulk lithium deposition.Experimental results show that the proposed lithiumhosting resin decreases the irreversible lithium capacity and improves lithium utilization(with the Coulombic efficiency(CE)of 98.8%over 130 cycles). Our work demonstrates that inducing the self-concentrating distribution of Li+at the interface can be an effective strategy for improving the interfacial ion concentration gradient and optimizing lithium deposition, which opens a new avenue for the practical development of next-generation lithium metal batteries. | Yu Yan Chaozhu Shu Ruixin Zheng Minglu Li Zhiqun Ran Miao He Anjun Hu Ting Zeng Haoyang Xu Ying Zeng | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,4: | 2
Preface显示文摘Owing to the fast economic growing and the concern over greenhouse gases and air pollution, the development of nuclear energy is one important option to meet the expanded energy consumption in our future. To achieve that goal, continuing and reliable supplies of uranium are critical to future nuclear power projects. As is well known, global terrestrial reserves of uranium are limited and the deposits in China are relatively small.Given the projected big growth in nuclear power in the future, reliable supply of uranium at a reasonable price is essential for China. | DAI YiTang XU Kun XIE XiaoJun YAN Li WANG RuiXin LIN JinTong | 2013 | Science China Chemistry2013,56,11: | 2
Evaluation of spatial epitope computational tools based on experimentally-confirmed dataset for protein antigens显示文摘Antibody molecules interact with antigen proteins through the epitope area, where the epitope residues are found to be discontinuous or spatial or conformational rather than linear on the protein surface. There are various computational algorithms to predict the spatial epitopes, and each of them have an outstanding performance based on their individual testing dataset. In this work,an independent dataset was created through collection of the epitope residual sites which have been confirmed by experiments. Based on this dataset,6 popular web-servers developed for B-cell structural epitope prediction, including SEPPA,CEP,DiscoTope,ElliPro,PEPOP and BEpro, were evaluated and compared according to sensitivity, the positive predictive value, the successful pick-up rate and the area under the curve of the receiver operator characteristic(AUC).The results showed that the general performance of spatial epitope prediction tools did obtain substantial advancement, and SEPPA gave the best performance among the 6 tools. However, the current prediction accuracy was still far from satisfaction. Moreover, our comparison elucidated that the performance of the web-servers was significantly affected by their training datasets and the algorithms adopted. In this sense, the results of our research may improve the design of B-cell epitope prediction tools and provide additional clues when the users utilize these tools in their related research. | XU XiaoLian SUN Jing LIU Qi WANG XiaoJing XU TianLei ZHU RuiXin WU Di CAO ZhiWei | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,20: | 2

RIN enhances plant disease resistance via root exudate-mediated assembly of diseasesuppressive rhizosphere microbiota显示文摘The RIPENING-INHIBITOR(RIN)transcriptional factor is a key regulator governing fruit ripening. While RIN also affects other physiological processes, its potential roles in triggering interactions with the rhizosphere microbiome and plant health are unknown. Here we show that RIN affects microbiome-mediated disease resistance via root exudation, leading to recruitment of microbiota that suppress the soil-borne,phytopathogenic Ralstonia solanacearum bacterium.Compared with the wild-type(WT)plant,RIN mutants had different root exudate profiles, which were associated with distinct changes in microbiome composition and diversity.Specifically, the relative abundances of antibiosis-associated genes and pathogensuppressing Actinobacteria(Streptomyces)were clearly lower in the rhizosphere of rin mutants. The composition, diversity, and suppressiveness of rin plant microbiomes could be restored by the application of 3-hydroxyflavone and riboflavin, which were exuded in much lower concentrations by the rin mutant.Interestingly,RIN-mediated effects on root exudates,Actinobacteria, and disease suppression were evident from the seedling stage, indicating that RIN plays a dual role in the early assembly of diseasesuppressive microbiota and late fruit development.Collectively, our work suggests that, while plant disease resistance is a complex trait driven by interactions between the plant, rhizosphere microbiome, and the pathogen,it can be indirectly manipulated using'prebiotic'compounds that promote the recruitment of disease-suppressive microbiota. | Keming Yang Ruixin Fu Haichao Feng Gaofei Jiang Omri Finkel Tianyu Sun Mingchun Liu Baowen Huang Shan Li Xiaofang Wang Tianjie Yang Yikui Wang Shimei Wang Yangchun Xu Qirong Shen Ville-Petri Friman Alexandre Jousset Zhong Wei | 2023 | Molecular Plant2023,16,9: | 0

An effector of Erysiphe necator translocates to chloroplasts and plasma membrane to suppress host immunity in grapevine显示文摘The powdery mildew(Erysiphe necator)is a prevalent pathogen hampering grapevine growth in the vineyard. An arsenal of candidate secreted effector proteins(CSEPs)was encoded in the E.necator genome, but it is largely unclear what role CSEPs plays during the E.necator infection. In the present study,we identified a secreted effector CSEP080 of E.necator, which was located in plant chloroplasts and plasma membrane.Transient expressing CSEP080 promotes plant photosynthesis and inhibits INF1-induced cell death in tobacco leaves. We found that CSEP080 was a necessary effector for the E.necator pathogenicity, which interacted with grapevine chloroplast protein VviB6f(cytochrome b6-f complex iron–sulfur subunit),affecting plant photosynthesis.Transient silencing VviB6f increased the plant hydrogen peroxide production, and the plant resistance to powdery mildew. In addition,CSEP080 manipulated the VviPE(pectinesterase)to promote pectin degradation. Our results demonstrated the molecular mechanisms that an effector of E.necator translocates to host chloroplasts and plasma membrane, which suppresses with the grapevine immunity system by targeting the chloroplast protein VviB6f to suppress hydrogen peroxide accumulation and manipulating VviPE to promote pectin degradation. | Bo Mu Zhaolin Teng Ruixin Tang Mengjiao Lu Jinfu Chen Xiangnan Xu Ying-Qiang Wen | 2023 | Horticulture Research2023,10,9: | 0
Effect of spatial spectrum overlap on Fourier ptychographic microscopy显示文摘Fourier ptychographic microscopy(FPM)is a newly developed imaging technique which stands out by virtue of its high-resolution and wide FOV.It improves a microscope's imaging perfor-mance beyond the diffraction limit of the employed optical components by illuminating the sample with oblique waves of different incident angles, similar to the concept of synthetic aperture. We propose to use an objective lens with high-NA to generate oblique illuminating waves in FPM.We demonstrate utilizing an objective lens with higher NA to iluminate the sample leads to better resolution by simulations,in which a resolution of 0.28 pum is achieved by using a high-NA illuminating objective lens(NA=1.49)and a low-NA collecting objective lens(NA=0.2)in coherent imaging(λ=488 nm).We then deeply study FPM's exact relevance of convergence speed to spatial spectrum overlap in frequency domain. The simulation results show that an overlap of about 60%is the optimal choice to acquire a high-quality recovery(520*520 pixels)with about 2 min's computing time.In addition,we testify the robustness of the algorithm of FPM to additive noises and its suitability for phase objects, which further proves FPM's potential application in biomedical imaging. | Qiulan Liu Cuifang Kuang Yue Fang Peng Xiu Yicheng Li Ruixin Wen Xu Linu | 2017 | Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2017,,2: | 0
Archaea, the tree of life, and cellular evolution in eukaryotes显示文摘The early history of life harbours many unresolved evolutionary questions, none more important than the genomic origin and cellular evolution of eukaryotes. An issue central to eukaryote origin concerns the position of eukaryotes in the tree of life and the relationship of the host lineage that acquired the mitochondrion some two billion years ago to lineages of modern-day archaea. Recent analyses indicate that the host lineage branches within the Archaea, prompting the search for novel archaeal lineages that can improve our understanding of the cellular evolution of eukaryotes. Here we give a brief review of the studies on Archaea, the tree of life and the cellular evolution of eukaryotes, which is followed by an overview of recent progress fueled by new genomic technologies and recent status of archaeal research in China. | 19 | Handwashing quality assessment via deep learning:a modelling study for monitoring compliance and standards in hospitals and communities显示文摘Background Hand hygiene can be a simple, inexpensive, and effective method for preventing the spread of infectious diseases. However,a reliable and consistent method for monitoring adherence to the guidelines within and outside healthcare settings is challenging. The aim of this study was to provide an approach for monitoring handwashing compliance and quality in hospitals and communities. Methods We proposed a deep learning algorithm comprising three-dimensional convolutional neural networks(3D CNNs)and used 230 standard handwashing videos recorded by healthcare professionals in the hospital or at home for training and internal validation. An assessment scheme with a probability smoothing method was also proposed to optimize the neural network’s output to identify the handwashing steps, measure the exact duration, and grade the standard level of recognized steps.Twenty-two videos by healthcare professionals in another hospital and 28 videos recorded by civilians in the community were used for external validation. Results Using a deep learning algorithm and an assessment scheme, combined with a probability smoothing method, each handwashing step was recognized(ACC ranged from 90.64%to 98.87%in the hospital and from 87.39%to 96.71%in the community). An assessment scheme measured each step’s exact duration, and the intraclass correlation coefficients were 0.98(95%CI:0.97-0.98)and 0.91(95%CI:0.88-0.93)for the total video duration in the hospital and community, respectively.Furthermore, the system assessed the quality of handwashing, similar to the expert panel(kappa=0.79 in the hospital;kappa=0.65 in the community). Conclusions This work developed an algorithm to directly assess handwashing compliance and quality from videos, which is promising for application in healthcare settings and communities to reduce pathogen transmis-sion. | Ting Wang Jun Xia Tianyi Wu Huanqi Ni Erping Long Ji-Peng Olivia Li Lanqin Zhao Ruoxi Chen Ruixin Wang Yanwu Xu Kai Huang Haotian Lin | 2022 | Intelligent Medicine2022,2,3: | 0
Benchmark for establishment of organoids from gastrointestinal epithelium and cancer based on available consumables and reagents显示文摘Gastrointestinal cancers are a public health problem that threatens the lives of human being. A good experimental model is a powerful tool to promote the uncovering pathogenesis and establish novel treatment methods. High-quality biomedical research requires experimental models to recapitulate the physiological and pathological states of their parental tissues as much as possible. Organoids are such experimental models. Organoids refer to small organlike cellular clusters formed by the expansion and passaging of living tissues in 3D culture medium in vitro.Organoids are highly similar to the original tissues in terms of cellular composition, cell functions, and genomic profiling. Organoids have many advantages, such as short preparation cycles, long-term storage based on cryopreservation, and reusability. In recent years, researchers carried out the establishment of organoids from gastrointestinal mucosa and cancer tissues, and accumulated valuable experiences. In order to promote effective usage and further development of organoid-related technologies in the research of gastrointestinal diseases, this study proposes a benchmark based on utilization of available experimental consumables and reagents, which are involved in the key steps such as collection and pretreatment of biospecimen, organoid construction, organoid cryopreservation and recovery, growth status evaluation, and organoid quality control. We believe that the standard for the construction and preservation of organoids derived from human gastrointestinal epithelium and cancer tissues can provide an important reference for the majority of scientific researchers. | Ruixin Yang Zhen Xiang Ranlin Yan Wingyan Kwan Lu Zang Zhenggang Zhu Yao Qi Yanping Xu Xiaoyan Zhang Hengjun Gao Yingyan Yu | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2023,35,6: | 0
