1Effect of music therapy derived from the five elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine on post-stroke depression显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of five phase music therapy in patients with depression after ischemic stroke.METHODS: A total of 92 patients with post-stroke depression were randomly divided into the control group(32 cases), treatment group A(30 cases), and treatment group B(30 cases). All groups were given basic therapies for cerebral infarction. In addition,the control group was administerd 50 mg of oral sertraline hydrochloride daily, while treatment groups A and B received needling at Baihui(GV 20)plus acupoint injection at Yanglingquan(GB 34) daily; treatment group B also received music therapy derived from the five phases in Traditional ChineseMedicine theory twice daily. All treatments were administered for 5 d per treatment cycle for three cycles, with a 1 d interval between cycles. In all three groups, Hamilton's depression scale(HAMD-17)score and the activities of daily life(ADL) score were measured before and after treatment, and side effects were assessed with the treatment emergent symptom scale.RESULTS: The HAMD-17 score significantly decreased after treatment in all three groups, and the post-treatment reduction in HAMD-17 score was markedly greater in treatment group B than in treatment group A(P < 0.01). The ADL score significantly increased after treatment in all three groups,and the post-treatment increase in ADL score was significantly greater in treatment group B than in treatment group A(P < 0.01). 2Humoral immune response to circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants elicited by inactivated and RBD-subunit vaccines显示文摘SARS-CoV-2 variants could induce immune escape by mutations on the receptor-binding domain(RBD)and N-terminal domain(NTD).Here we report the humoral immune response to circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants,such as 501Y.V2(B.1.351),of the plasma and neutralizing antibodies(NAbs)elicited by CoronaVac(inactivated vaccine),ZF2001(RBD-subunit vaccine)and natural infection.Among 86 potent NAbs identified by high-throughput single-cell VDJ sequencing of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from vaccinees and convalescents,near half anti-RBD NAbs showed major neutralization reductions against the K417N/E484K/N501Y mutation combination,with E484K being the dominant cause.VH3-53/VH3-66 recurrent antibodies respond differently to RBD variants,and K417N compromises the majority of neutralizing activity through reduced polar contacts with complementarity determining regions.In contrast,the 242–244 deletion(242–244Δ)would abolish most neutralization activity of anti-NTD NAbs by interrupting the conformation of NTD antigenic supersite,indicating a much less diversity of anti-NTD NAbs than anti-RBD NAbs.Plasma of convalescents and CoronaVac vaccinees displayed comparable neutralization reductions against pseudo-and authentic 501Y.V2 variants,mainly caused by E484K/N501Y and 242–244Δ,with the effects being additive.Importantly,RBD-subunit vaccinees exhibit markedly higher tolerance to 501Y.V2 than convalescents,since the elicited anti-RBD NAbs display a high diversity and are unaffected by NTD mutations.Moreover,an extended gap between the third and second doses of ZF2001 leads to better neutralizing activity and tolerance to 501Y.V2 than the standard three-dose administration.Together,these results suggest that the deployment of RBD-vaccines,through a third-dose boost,may be ideal for combating SARS-CoV-2 variants when necessary,especially for those carrying mutations that disrupt the NTD supersite.Yunlong Cao Ayijiang Yisimayi Yali Bai Weijin Huang Xiaofeng Li Zhiying Zhang Tianjiao Yuan Ran An Jing Wang Tianhe Xiao Shuo Du Wenping Ma Liyang Song Yongzheng Li Xiang Li Weiliang Song Jiajing Wu Shuo Liu Xuemei Li Yonghong Zhang Bin Su Xianghua Guo Yangyang Wei Chuanping Gao Nana Zhang Yifei Zhang Yang Dou Xiaoyu Xu Rui Shi Bai Lu Ronghua Jin Yingmin Ma Chengfeng Qin Youchun Wang Yingmei Feng Junyu Xiao Xiaoliang Sunney Xie 2021Cell Research2021,31,7:12

5Remote sensing-based global crop monitoring: experiences with China’s CropWatch system显示文摘Monitoring the production of main agricultural crops is important to predict and prepare for disruptions in food supply and fluctuations in global crop market prices.China’s global crop-monitoring system(CropWatch)uses remote sensing data combined with selected field data to determine key crop production indicators:crop acreage,yield and production,crop condition,cropping intensity,crop-planting proportion,total food availability,and the status and severity of droughts.Results are combined to analyze the balance between supply and demand for various food crops and if needed provide early warning about possible food shortages.CropWatch data processing is highly automated and the resulting products provide new kinds of inputs for food security assessments.This paper presents a comprehensive overview of CropWatch as a remote sensingbased system,describing its structure,components,and monitoring approaches.The paper also presents examples of monitoring results and discusses the strengths and limitations of the CropWatch approach,as well as a comparison with other global crop-monitoring systems.Bingfang Wu Jihua Meng Qiangzi Li Nana Yan Xin Du Miao Zhang 2014International Journal of Digital Earth2014,7,2:6
6An option for green and sustainable future: Electrochemical conversion of ammonia into nitrogen显示文摘Green and sustainable options are needed to ease the current energy and environmental crisis, and alleviate the greenhouse effect and energy shortage. As an alternative carbon–neutral synthetic fuel, ammonia shows great potential due to its high energy density, non-toxic by-products, and mature related infrastructures. However, related practical applications have been severely hampered on ammoniaoxidation due to the high cost of catalysts and immature energy utilization systems. Here, we comprehensively summarized the efforts which have been made in recent years with the aim of providing a deep sight into the development and deficiencies in this territory and trying to establish a simple framework of basic knowledge for researchers. The exploration of mechanism is discussed first and then the relevant catalysts studied in recent years are summarized. 7Understanding Sulfur Redox Mechanisms in Different Electrolytes for Room-Temperature Na-S Batteries显示文摘This work reports influence of two different electrolytes,carbonate ester and ether electrolytes,on the sulfur redox reactions in room-temperature Na-S batteries.Two sulfur cathodes with different S loading ratio and status are investigated.A sulfur-rich composite with most sulfur dispersed on the surface of a carbon host can realize a high loading ratio(72%S).In contrast,a confined sulfur sample can encapsulate S into the pores of the carbon host with a low loading ratio(44%S).In carbonate ester electrolyte,only the sulfur trapped in porous structures is active via‘solid-solid’behavior during cycling.The S cathode with high surface sulfur shows poor reversible capacity because of the severe side reactions between the surface polysulfides and the carbonate ester solvents.To improve the capacity of the sulfur-rich cathode,ether electrolyte with NaNO_(3) additive is explored to realize a‘solid-liquid’sulfur redox process and confine the shuttle effect of the dissolved polysulfides.As a result,the sulfur-rich cathode achieved high reversible capacity(483 mAh g^(−1)),corresponding to a specific energy of 362 Wh kg^(−1) after 200 cycles,shedding light on the use of ether electrolyte for high-loading sulfur cathode.Hanwen Liu Wei-Hong Lai Qiuran Yang Yaojie Lei Can Wu Nana Wang Yun-Xiao Wang Shu-Lei Chou Hua Kun Liu Shi Xue Dou 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,8:3
8Melon short internode(CmSi)encodes an ERECTA-like receptor kinase regulating stem elongation through auxin signaling显示文摘Plant height is one of the most important agronomic traits that directly determines plant architecture,and compact or dwarf plants can allow for increased planting density and land utilization as well as increased lodging resistance and economic yield.At least four dwarf/semidwarf genes have been identified in different melon varieties,but none of them have been cloned,and little is known about the molecular mechanisms underlying internode elongation in melon.Here,we report map-based cloning and functional characterization of the first semidwarf gene short internode(Cmsi)in melon,which encodes an ERECTA-like receptor kinase regulating internode elongation.Spatial-temporal expression analyses revealed that CmSI exhibited high expression in the vascular bundle of the main stem during internode elongation.The expression level of CmSI was positively correlated with stem length in the different melon varieties examined.Ectopic expression of CmSI in Arabidopsis and cucumber suggested CmSI as a positive regulator of internode elongation in both species.Phytohormone quantitation and transcriptome analysis showed that the auxin content and the expression levels of a number of genes involved in the auxin signaling pathway were altered in the semidwarf mutant,including several well-known auxin transporters,such as members of the ABCB family and PINFORMED genes.A melon polar auxin transport protein CmPIN2 was identified by protein–protein interaction assay as physically interacting with CmSI to modulate auxin signaling.Thus,CmSI functions in an auxin-dependent regulatory pathway to control internode elongation in melon.Our findings revealed that the ERECTA family gene CmSI regulates stem elongation in melon through auxin signaling,which can directly affect polar auxin transport.Sen Yang Kaige Zhang Huayu Zhu Xiaojing Zhang Wenkai Yan Nana Xu Dongming Liu Jianbin Hu Yufeng Wu Yiqun Weng Luming Yang 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:2
9Hypoxia-induced increase in GABA content is essential for restoration of membrane potential and preventing ROS-induced disturbance to ion homeostasis显示文摘When plants are exposed to hypoxic conditions,the level of g-aminobutyric acid(GABA)in plant tissues increases by several orders of magnitude.The physiological rationale behind this elevation remains largely unanswered.By combining genetic and electrophysiological approach,in this work we show that hypoxia-induced increase in GABA content is essential for restoration of membrane potential and preventing ROS-induced disturbance to cytosolic K+homeostasis and Ca^(2+)signaling.We show that reduced O_(2) availability affects H+-ATPase pumping activity,leading to membrane depolarization and K+loss via outward-rectifying GORK channels.Hypoxia stress also results in H_(2)O_(2) accumulation in the cell that activates ROS-inducible Ca^(2+)uptake channels and triggers self-amplifying'ROS-Ca hub,'further exacerbating K^(+)loss via non-selective cation channels that results in the loss of the cell’s viability.Hypoxia-induced elevation in the GABA level may restore membrane potential by pH-dependent regulation of H^(+)-ATPase and/or by generating more energy through the activation of the GABA shunt pathway and TCA cycle.Elevated GABA can also provide better control of the ROS-Ca^(2+)hub by transcriptional control of RBOH genes thus preventing over-excessive H_(2)O_(2) accumulation.Finally,GABA can operate as a ligand directly controlling the open probability and conductance of K+efflux GORK channels,thus enabling plants adaptation to hypoxic conditions.Qi Wu Nana Su Xin Huang Jin Cui Lana Shabala Meixue Zhou Min Yu Sergey Shabala 2021Plant Communications2021,2,3:2

17Effects of protein oxidation, cathepsins, and various freezing temperatures on the quality of superchilled sturgeon fillets显示文摘Many aquatic products have been stored using superchilling technology, but rarely used for the storage of sturgeon fillets. In this study, we investigated the effects of protein oxidation, cathepsin, and various freezing temperatures on the quality of superchilled sturgeon fillets. Sensory evaluation results showed that the sensory attributes of superchilled (−3 °C) sturgeon fillets were acceptable three times longer (18 days) than samples stored at refrigeration temperatures (4 °C). The sarcoplasmic protein, carbonyl, myofibrillar protein, total sulfhydryl content and the surface hydrophobicity were determined using fluorescence spectrophotometry and SDS-PAGE. Results showed that superchilling might protect myofibrillar proteins from oxidation compared to refrigeration temperatures. The activity of the three cathepsins (B, L, and H) in terms of myofibrillar, mitochondria, lysosomes, and sarcoplasm demonstrated that superchilling can inhibit cathepsins activity in sturgeon and protect its muscle structure. Microscopic observations showed that as the temperature decreased, the gap area of the muscle fibers decreased, and the deformation of cross-sectional slices was gradually reduced. In addition, the freezing rate of ice crystals produced during the freezing process influenced the muscle structure, texture, and sensory attributes. Superchilled sturgeon fillets showed good hardness, chewiness, and water retention. 18Programmed albumin nanoparticles regulate immunosuppressive pivot to potentiate checkpoint blockade cancer immunotherapy显示文摘The therapeutic efficacy of programmed cell death protein 1/programmed cell death-ligand 1(PD-1/PD-L1)blockade immunotherapy is extremely dampened by complex immunosuppressive mechanisms including regulatory T cells(Treg),M2 macrophages(M2),and prostaglandin E2(PGE2).The pivotal roles of PGE2 have been recognized by directly inactivating CD8+T cells and indirectly inducing Treg and M2.Therefore,PGE2 abolishment through inactivating cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2)could be robust to sensitize tumour toward anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy,which has gone into clinical trials.However,exploring this promising strategy in nanomedicine to enhance immunotherapy remains unrevealed.The key challenge to synergistically combine COX-2 inhibition and anti-PD-1/PD-L1 lies in the different pharmacokinetic profiles and the spatial obstacles since PD-1/PD-L1 interaction occurs extracellularly and COX-2 locates intracellularly.Thus,the programmed release nanoparticles(termed as Cele-BMS-NPs)are rationally designed,which are composed of pH-sensitive human serum albumin derivative,BMS-202 compound as PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor,glutathione(GSH)-activatable prodrug of celecoxib(COX-2 inhibitor).The in vitro experiments demonstrate that this smart Cele-BMS-NPs could extracellularly release BMS-202 under the acidic tumour microenvironment,and the intracellularly release of celecoxib in response to the elevated GSH concentration inside tumour cells.After systemic administration,the intratumoral infiltration of CD8+T cells is significantly enhanced and meanwhile immunosuppressive M2,Treg,and PGE2 are reduced,thereby eliciting the anti-tumour immune responses toward low immunogenic tumours and postsurgical tumour recurrences.Liandong Feng Li Yang Longjie Li Junying Xiao Nana Bie Chao Xu Jun Zhou Hongmei Liu Lu Gan Yuzhou Wu 2022Nano Research2022,15,1:1

20Challenges and opportunities in remote sensing-based crop monitoring:a review显示文摘Building a more resilient food system for sustainable development and reducing uncertainty in global food markets both require concurrent and near-real-time and reliable crop information for decision making.Satellite-driven crop monitoring has become a main method to derive crop information at local,regional,and global scales by revealing the spatial and temporal dimensions of crop growth status and production.However,there is a lack of quantitative,objective,and robust methods to ensure the reliability of crop information,which reduces the applicability of crop monitoring and leads to uncertain and undesirable consequences.In this paper,we review recent progress in crop monitoring and identify the challenges and opportunities in future efforts.We find that satellite-derived metrics do not fully capture determinants of crop production and do not quantitatively interpret crop growth status;the later can be advanced by integrating effective satellite-derived metrics and new onboard sensors.We have identified that ground data accessibility and the negative effects of knowledge-based analyses are two essential issues in crop monitoring that reduce the applicability of crop monitoring for decisions on food security.Crowdsourcing is one solution to overcome the restrictions of ground-truth data accessibility.We argue that user participation in the complete process of crop monitoring could improve the reliability of crop information.Encouraging users to obtain crop information from multiple sources could prevent unconscious biases.Finally,there is a need to avoid conflicts of interest in publishing publicly available crop information.Bingfang Wu Miao Zhang Hongwei Zeng Fuyou Tian Andries B Potgieter Xingli Qin Nana Yan Sheng Chang Yan Zhao Qinghan Dong Vijendra Boken Dmitry Plotnikov Huadong Guo Fangming Wu Hang Zhao Bart Deronde Laurent Tits Evgeny Loupian 2023National Science Review2023,10,4:1
