2Characterization and Evaluation of OsLCT1 and OsN ramp5 Mutants Generated Through CRISPR/Cas9-Mediated Mutagenesis for Breeding Low Cd Rice显示文摘To explore how rice(Oryza sativa L.) can be safely produced in Cd-polluted soil, OsLCT1 and OsNramp5 mutant lines were generated by CRISPR/Cas9-mediated mutagenesis. One of OsLCT1 mutant(lct1×1) and two of OsNramp5 mutants(nramp5×7 and nramp5×9) were evaluated for grain Cd accumulation and agronomic performances. In paddy field soil containing approximately 0.9 mg/kg Cd, lct1×1 grains contained approximately 40%(0.17 mg/kg) of the Cd concentration of the wild type parental line, less than the China National Food Safety Standard(0.20 mg/kg). Both OsNramp5 mutants showed low grain Cd accumulation(< 0.06 mg/kg) in the paddy(approximately 0.9 mg/kg Cd) or in pots in soil spiked with 2 mg/kg Cd. However, only nramp5×7 showed normal growth and yield, whereas the growth of nramp5×9 was severely impaired. 3Specific cellular immune responses in mice immunized with DNA,adeno-associated virus and adenoviral vaccines of Epstein-Barr virus-LMP2 alone or in combination显示文摘Cellular immune responses,particularly those associated with CD3+CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL),are critical factors in controlling viral infection.Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is closely associated with persistent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection.NPC vaccine studies have focused on enhancing specific antiviral CTL responses.In this study,three vaccines capable of expressing the EBV-latent membrane protein 2 (LMP2) (a DNA vector,an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector,and a replication-defective adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5) vector) were respectively used to immunize female Balb/c mice (4-6 weeks old) at weeks 0,2 and 4,either alone or in combination.Our results suggest that combined immunization with DNA,AAV,and adenovirus vector vaccines induced specific cellular immunity more effectively than any of these vectors alone or a combination of two of the three,constituting a sound vaccine strategy for the prevention and treatment of NPC.WANG Zhan YANG SongMei ZHOU Ling DU HaiJun MO WuNing ZENG Yi 2011Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,3:10
4Preparation and characterization of the TiO_2-V_2O_5 photocatalyst with visible-light activity显示文摘Visible-light responsive TiO2-V2O5 catalyst was prepared using a binary sol-gel and in-situ intercalation method. The TiO2 sol and V2O5 sol were mixed to disperse the V2O5 species in the TiO2 phase at molecular level. The binary sol was then intercalated into interspaces of polyaniline (PANI) by means of in-situ polymerization of aniline. Conglomeration of the TiO2-V2O5 clusters during the calcination process was avoided because of the wrap of polyaniline. The surface mor- phology, the crystal phases, the structure, and the absorption spectra of (PANI)n/TiO2-V2O5 and the composite catalyst were studied using SEM, XRD, FT-IR, and UV-Vis. The photoactivity of the prepared catalyst under UV and visible light irra- diation were evaluated by decolorization of methylene blue (MB) solution. The results showed that the composite catalyst displayed a homogeneous anatase phase, and the vanadium pentoxide species was highly dispersed in the TiO2 phase. The composite catalyst responded to visible light because of the narrowed band gap. 5Preparation and characterization of high photoactive TiO_2 catalyst using the UV irradiation-induced sol-gel method显示文摘High photoactive TiO2 catalyst was prepared using the sol-gel method through UV irradiation during the formation stage of nuclei. The surface morphology and microstructure of the prepared catalyst were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The photoactivity was evaluated by the degradation of methylene blue. The results show that the photocatalysis of the prepared catalyst is higher than that of conventional heat-treated particles. The higher photoactivity is a combined result of favorable microstructure, appropriate hydroxyl groups, and active sites of Ti3+ ions on the surface of TiO2. 7The subsistence patterns of the Shengedaliang site(-4,000 yr BP)revealed by stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes in northern Shaanxi,China显示文摘In order to explore subsistence patterns in northern Shaanxi Province around 4,000 yr BP,28 human and 24 animal bones from the Shengedaliang site were sampled for stable carbon and nitrogen isotope ratio analysis.The results show that most people primarily subsisted on C_4 resources,e.g.millet and millet-related animal products,despite the fact that there was some intake of C_3 plants by some individuals.Stable nitrogen isotope values indicate that there were differences in meat consumption between individuals at the site.Pigs were mainly foddered with millet and millet byproducts,as well as some cattle,according to their highδ^(13)C values.However,most cattle and the sheep/goats consumed wild C_3 plants at Shengedaliang.Our above findings indicates that subsistence patterns in northern Shaanxi around 4,000 yr BP were characterized by millet farming,while the grassland animal husbandry,e.g.cattle and sheep/goats raising,displayed very little contribution to local economy.The intensive millet farming in northern Shaanxi provided enough food for population growth,ensured the accumulation of wealth,and consequently accelerated social differentiation and complexity.CHEN XiangLong GUO XiaoNing WANG WeiLin HU SongMei YANG MiaoMiao WU Yan HU YaoWu 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,2:2
8Fast Cryomediated Dynamic Equilibrium Hydrolysates towards Grain Boundary-Enriched Platinum Scaffolds for Efficient Methanol Oxidation显示文摘Although platinum nanocrystals have been considered as potential electrocatalysts for methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)in fuel cells,the large-scale practical implementation has been stagnated by their limited abundance,easy poisoning,and low durability.Here,grain boundary-enriched platinum(GB-Pt)scaffolds are produced in large scale via facilely reducing fast cryomediated dynamic equilibrium hydrolysates of platinum salts.Such plentiful platinum grain boundaries are originated from the fast fusion of short platinum nanowires during reduction of the individually and homogeneously dispersed platinum intermediates.These grain boundaries can provide abundant active sites to efficiently catalyze MOR and meanwhile enable to oxidize the adsorbed poisonous CO during the electrocatalytic process.As a consequence,the as-synthesized GB-Pt scaffolds exhibit an impressively high mass activity of 1027.1 mA mgPt^(−1) for MOR,much higher than that of commercial Pt/C(345.2 mA mgPt^(−1)),as well as good stability up to 5000 cycles.We are confident that this synthetic protocol can be further extended to synthesize various grain boundary-enriched metal scaffolds with broad applications in catalysis.Chao Zhang Huajie Huang Jianan Gu Zhiguo Du Bin Li Songmei Li Shubin Yang 2019Research2019,,1:2

11Efficacy of Zhumian Tang formula granules(助眠汤配方颗粒)combined with eszopiclone for the treatment of poor sleep quality:a multi-center,randomized controlled,superiority trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Zhumian Tang formula granules(助眠汤配方颗粒)combined with eszopiclone for treating poor sleep quality.METHODS:This multi-center,dynamic blockrandomized,parallel-group superiority clinical trial included 130 patients.The combined treatment group received Zhumian Tang formula granules combined with eszopiclone treatment,and the control group received eszopiclone treatment only.The group allocation ratio was 1∶1.The duration of treatment was 2 weeks.Participants were asked to complete questionnaires before treatment,after 1 week of the intervention,after 2 weeks of the intervention,and at the follow-up on week 3.The primary outcomes were the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)score and the total effective rate of treatment.The secondary outcome was the rate of adverse effects.RESULTS:Compared with the eszopiclone treatment group,the PSQI score of the combined treatment group was significantly lower after 2 weeks of the intervention(6.98 vs 8.26,P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the mean PSQI score after 1 week of the intervention(9.89 vs 9.15,P=0.124).After the follow-up on week 3,the PSQI score of the combined treatment group remained significantly lower than that of the eszopiclone treatment group(6.12 vs 8.31,P<0.001).The total effective rates of treatment of the combined group and the eszopiclone group were 36.92%vs 35.38%(Z=0.033,P=0.855)after 1 week of the intervention,83.08%vs 58.46%(Z=9.519,P<0.05)after 2 weeks of the intervention,and 83.08%vs 61.54%(Z=7.530,P<0.05)and after the follow-up on week 3,respectively.There was no significant difference in the overall rate of adverse reactions between the combined and eszopiclone treatment groups(21.53%vs 31.8%,P=0.318).CONCLUSION:The combination of Zhumian Tang formula granules with eszopiclone was found to be safe and more effective in improving sleep quality than eszopiclone alone.Traditional Chinese medicine can enhance the effectiveness of Western medicine in the treatment of insomnia.WANG Yichen WU Shiyi WANG Zhengyan CHANG Wenling XIE Zhihao TANG Xing ZHAO Songmei ZHOU Jing CHEN Zehong WANG Chao() YANG Chunxia 2024Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2024,44,1:0
12Revisiting aluminum current collector in lithium-ion batteries:Corrosion and countermeasures显示文摘With the large-scale service of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),their failures have attracted significant attentions.While the decay of active materials is the primary cause for LIB failures,the degradation of auxiliary materials,such as current collector corrosion,should not be disregarded.Therefore,it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive review in this field.In this review,from the perspectives of electrochemistry and materials,we systematically summarize the corrosion behavior of aluminum cathode current collector and propose corresponding countermeasures.Firstly,the corrosion type is clarified based on the properties of passivation layers in different organic electrolyte components.Furthermore,a thoroughgoing analysis is presented to examine the impact of various factors on aluminum corrosion,including lithium salts,organic solvents,water impurities,and operating conditions.Subsequently,strategies for electrolyte and protection layer employed to suppress corrosion are discussed in detail.Lastly and most importantly,we provide insights and recommendations to prevent corrosion of current collectors,facilitate the development of advanced current collectors and the implementation of next-generation high-voltage stable LIBs.Shanglin Yang Jinyan Zhong Songmei Li Bin Li 2024Journal of Energy Chemistry2024,89,2:0
13Quercetin induces autophagy-associated death in HL-60 cells through CaMKKβ/AMPK/mTOR signal pathway显示文摘Acute myeloid leukemia(AML)is one of the most common malignancies of the hematopoietic progenitor cell in adults.Quercetin has gained recognition over the years because of its anti-cancer effect with minimal toxicity.Herein,we aim to investigate the anti-leukemia mechanism of quercetin and to decipher the signaling pathway of quercetin in HL-60 leukemic cells.We observed that quercetin induces apoptosis and autophagic cell death,in which both pathways play an important role in suppressing the viability of leukemia cells.Phosphorylated AMPK(p-AMPK)protein expressions are lower in primary AML cells,HL-60 cells,KG-1 and THP-1 cells than in peripheral blood monocular cells.After quercetin treatment,the expression of p-AMPK is increased while the expression of pmTOR is decreased in a dose-dependent manner.Mechanistically,compound C,an AMPK phosphorylation inhibitor,upregulates the phosphorylation of mTOR and inhibits autophagy and apoptosis in quercetin-induced HL-60 cells,while silencing of CaMKKβinhibits the quercetin-induced phosphorylation of AMPK,resulting in increased mTOR phosphorylation.Furthermore,silencing of CaMKKβinhibits the autophagy in HL-60 cells.Taken together,our data delineate that quercetin plays its anti-leukemia role by inhibiting cell viability and inducing apoptosis and autophagy in leukemia cells.Quercetin inhibits the phosphorylation of mTOR by regulating the activity of AMPK,thus playing a role in the regulation of autophagy and apoptosis.CaMKKβis a potential upstream molecule for AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway,through which quercetin induces autophagy in HL-60 cells.Jie Xiao Ben Zhang Songmei Yin Shuangfeng Xie Kezhi Huang Jieyu Wang Wenjuan Yang Hongyun Liu Guoyang Zhang Xiaoyan Liu Yiqing Li Danian Nie 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,9:0

15Middle Holocene hunting-gathering culture and environmental background of the steppe area of northern China显示文摘For a long time,the academic community has known very little about hunter-gatherers in the steppe area of northern China in the mid-Holocene.This article reports on the Ula Usu West site in Siziwangqi Banner,Inner Mongolia,including basic information about the site,animal bones,lithic artifacts and the environmental background.The age of the site is 4.8–4.4 cal.kyr BP,placing it in the Late Neolithic period.Considering integrated evidence from flotation,zooarchaeology,ZooMS analysis and lithic artifacts,the preliminary inference is that the population lived in a hunting-gathering economy.They used lithic tools represented by arrowheads to hunt mainly Antilopinae animals(e.g.,Procapra gutturosa).Pollen analysis suggests that the climate was relatively humid,providing advantageous living conditions for the population.The climate evidence is consistent with a warm event at approximately 4.7 kyr BP.A dry-cold event(4.5–4.0 kyr BP)and the gradual expansion of agriculture and breeding might have resulted in the final decline of the population.This article provides new materials for research on the“last”hunter-gatherers in the steppe area of northern China.Jiacheng MA Xinying ZHOU Shixia YANG Huiyun RAO Jiaoyang LI Songmei HU Yimin YANG Xiaoqiang LI 2022Science China Earth Sciences2022,65,7:0
