2Predicting oral disintegrating tablet formulations by neural network techniques显示文摘Oral disintegrating tablets(ODTs) are a novel dosage form that can be dissolved on thetongue within 3 min or less especially for geriatric and pediatric patients. Current ODT for-mulation studies usually rely on the personal experience of pharmaceutical experts andtrial-and-error in the laboratory, which is inefficient and time-consuming. The aim of cur-rent research was to establish the prediction model of ODT formulations with direct com-pression process by artificial neural network(ANN) and deep neural network(DNN) tech-niques. 145 formulation data were extracted from Web of Science. All datasets were dividedinto three parts: training set(105 data), validation set(20) and testing set(20). ANN andDNN were compared for the prediction of the disintegrating time. The accuracy of the ANNmodel have reached 85.60%, 80.00% and 75.00% on the training set, validation set and testingset respectively, whereas that of the DNN model were 85.60%, 85.00% and 80.00%, respec-tively. Compared with the ANN, DNN showed the better prediction for ODT formulations.It is the first time that deep neural network with the improved dataset selection algorithmis applied to formulation prediction on small data. The proposed predictive approach couldevaluate the critical parameters about quality control of formulation, and guide researchand process development. 3Dampness in dwellings and its associations with asthma and allergies among children in Chongqing: A cross-sectional study显示文摘The city of Chongqing has high outdoor temperatures and humidity throughout the year and consequently a high risk of dampness and mold problems in dwellings.As part of the China,Children,Homes,Health(CCHH),associations between home characteristics and children’s asthma,allergies,and related symptoms were investigated in Chongqing,China.A cross-sectional questionnaire survey on home characteristics including dampness and symptoms of asthma and allergies in 5299 children was performed.Data for 4754 children(3–6 years)and their homes were analyzed.Results showed that 35.1%of homes were reported to have'damp bedding',14.3%'condensation on window panes(higher than 5 cm)',11.6%'mouldy odor',9.3%'water leakage',8.3%'damp stains'and 5.3%'visible mould'.Wheezing and rhinitis ever were reported for 27.0%and 51.1%children respectively,and rhinitis,wheezing,cough at night and eczema in the last 12 months were reported for 38.1%,20.5%,18.9%and 13.2%respectively.Doctor-diagnosed asthma was reported for 8.3%of children,and doctor-diagnosed rhinitis for 6.2%.Dampness in homes was generally strongly associated with asthma and allergies among Chongqing children.The strongest association was found between'visible mould'and doctor-diagnosed rhinitis,and the adjusted Odds Ratio(ORA)was 2.27(95%CI:1.48,3.49).'Damp bedding'was significantly associated with all asthma and allergic symptoms,but doctor-diagnosed asthma and rhinitis.The behavior of'putting bedding to sunshine'could effectively reduce the prevalence of asthma and allergic symptoms,and the risk of bedding affected with damp was reduced significantly when bedding was put to sunshine frequently.WANG Han LI BaiZhan YANG Qin YU Wei WANG Juan LIU YiLong OU YangJin SUNDELL Jan 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,34:4
4Who may benefit from lower dosages of intravenous tissue plasminogen activator? Results from a cluster data analysis显示文摘background The risk of symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage(sICH)after thrombolysis is low but severe.Lower dose of alteplase may reduce the risk of sICH.We aim to identify subsets of patients who could benefit from lower dose of alteplase compared with standard dose.Methods Data from two observational registries were pooled together.A total of 3479 patients who had acute ischaemic stroke were entered into the interaction tree model.The response variable was the rate of sICH per the definition of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke Study.Clinical improvement was measured by the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)and defined as NIHSS 0 or 1 or an improvement of more than 4 points(within 7 days or at discharge).Rare event logistic regression was performed to analyse the OR of safety outcome.results To optimise the interaction effect between tissue plasminogen activator(tPA)dosage(standard/lower)and patient subgroups,three subgroups based on the severity of stroke were identified:(1)NIHSS≤4,(2)NIHSS between 5 and 14,and(3)NIHSS≥15.The estimated difference of OR of having sICH was 2.71(95%CI 0.80 to 7.69,p=0.10)for mild,0.13(95%CI 0.02 to 0.68,p=0.01)for moderate,and 0.65(95%CI 0.19 to 2.55,p=0.52)for severe,respectively.In addition,patients who had moderate stroke treated with lower dose had comparable efficacy outcome(OR 1.23,95%CI 0.71 to 2.13,p=0.45).Conclusion Our analysis demonstrated that in patients who had moderate stroke,lower doses of alteplase are associated with significant sICH reduction and non-inferior performance in efficacy,compared with those in the standard dose group.Yi Dong Ye Han Haipeng Shen Yilong Wang Frank Ma Hao Li Yongjun Wang Qiang Dong 2020Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,4:3
5Microsatellite DNA analysis proves nucleus of interspecies reconstructed blastocyst coming from that of donor giant panda显示文摘A method for DNA isolation from early development of blastocyst and further analysis of nuclear and mitochondrial DNA was developed in present study. Total DNA was prepared from interspecies reconstructed blastocyst and a giant panda specific microsatellite locus g010 was successfully amplified. DNA sequencing of the PCR product showed that two sequences of reconstructed blastocysts are the same as that of positive control giant panda. 9Improved Preproduction Conceptual-Numerical Model of the Roosevelt Geothermal Field using Geological, Geochemical and Structural Information显示文摘The Roosevelt Hot Springs Known Geothermal Resource Area(KGRA) is a Basin and Range-type geothermal resource, which is located in southwestern Utah. The integrated multicomponent geothermometry(IMG) approach is used to estimate the reservoir temperature at the Roosevelt Hot Springs KGRA. Geothermometric modeling results indicate the deep reservoir temperature is approximately 284.6°C. A conceptual model of the Roosevelt Hot Spring KGRA is provided through integrating the various pieces of exploration information, including the geological data, geothermometric results, temperature well log and field evidence. A two-dimensional cross-sectional model was thus built to quantitatively investigate the coupled thermal-hydraulic processes in the Roosevelt geothermal field. By matching the preproduction temperature log data of deep wells, parameters controlling flow and heat transport are identified. 10Status of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt for portal hypertension in China:A national survey analysis显示文摘Aim:The transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS)procedure has been performed in China for 30 years,but our understanding of the status and difficulties associated with the use of TIPS for portal hypertension is incomplete.This study aims to investigate the current situation of the use of TIPS for portal hypertension,which should aid the development of TIPS in China.Methods:This study involved a questionnaire survey,initiated by the China Portal Hypertension Alliance(CHESS)to investigate the use of TIPS for portal hypertension in China.Questionnaires were released on the Internet between August 16,2022 and September 16,2022.Detailed information was collected from 545 hospitals contracted by the CHESS in China,which performed TIPS surgery in 2021.Results:The 545 hospitals covers the majority of hospitals in China that conduct TIPS intervention.In the survey,a total of 13,527 TIPS interventions were carried out with 94.1%(498/545)of them had a system of routine follow‐up after TIPS.The majority(42.6%[232/545])believed that the main indication of TIPS was the control of acute bleeding.Overall,48.1%(262/545)carried out early or pre‐emptive TIPS,53.0%(289/545)carried out TIPS for cavernous transformation of the portal vein,and 81.0%(441/545)chose routine embolization of collateral circulation during operation.Most used coils(97.0%[475/490])and biological glue(72.0%[353/490])as embolic materials,and 78.5%(428/545)routinely performed intraoperative portal pressure gradient measurements.When selecting TIPS stents,57.1%(311/545)chose viator‐specific stents,and 57.2%(312/545)chose conventional anticoagulation after TIPS.Conventional anticoagulation after TIPS is over a time interval of 3–6 months(55.4%[173/312]).The limitation of TIPS surgery is mainly its cost(72.3%[394/545])and insufficient understanding of the procedure by doctors in other related departments(77.4%[422/545]).Most of the hospital teams accept the use of domestic instruments in TIPS surgery(92.7%[505/545]).Conclusions:This survey shows that TIPS is an essential part of the treatment of portal hypertension in China.TIPS is widely used in Chinese patients with portal hypertension,and this survey presents a more comprehensive picture of the options and difficulties encountered in the implementation of TIPS.In the future,it is necessary to promote TIPS technology and further standardize surgical indications,routine operations,and instrument application.Haibo Shao Xinwei Han Jianbo Zhao Junhui Sun Zhuting Fang Bin Xiong Xiaoli Zhu Weixin Ren Min Yuan Shiping Yu Meng Niu Weifu Lv Xueqiang Zhang Chunqing Zhang Lei Li Xuefeng Luo Yusheng Song Yilong Ma Tong Dang Hua Xiang Yun Jin Hui Xue Guiyun Jin Xiao Li Jiarui Li Shi Zhou Changlu Yu Song He Lei Yu Hongmei Zu Jun Ma Yanming Lei Ke Xu Xiaolong Qi 2023Portal Hypertension & Cirrhosis2023,2,1:0
11Generalization of the Hall-Petch and inverse Hall-Petch behaviors by tuning amorphous regions in 2D solids显示文摘The strengthσ_(y)(D)of a polycrystal can decrease or increase with the grain diameter D,i.e.,the famous Hall-Petch(HP)and inverse-Hall-Petch(IHP)behaviors,respectively.However,σ_(y)(D)under thick grain boundaries(GBs)(i.e.,GB thickness l>1 particle)andσ_(y)(l)have rarely been explored.Here we measure them by systematically varying D and l of two-dimensional glass-crystal composites in simulations.We demonstrate that increasing l and decreasing D have similar effects on reducing dislocation motions and promoting GB deformations.Consequently,the classical HP-IHP behaviors ofσ_(y)(D,l=1)and our generalized HP-IHP behaviors ofσ_(y)(D,l)share similar mechanisms and can be unified asσ_(y)(AGB/Atot),where AGB/Atot is the fraction of the amorphous region.The results reveal a way to exceed the maximum strength of normal polycrystals.The generalized HP-IHP behaviors ofσ_(y)(D,l)should be similar in 2D and 3D,except that the HP effect in 3D is stronger.Zhibin Xu Mengmeng Li Huijun Zhang Yilong Han 2023National Science Open2023,2,3:0
12Degradation of Rhodamine B by MnFe-LDH/PMS/O3 three-phase catalytic system: performance, mechanism and ecotoxicity studies显示文摘This study developed a novel MnFe-LDH/PMS/O3 three-phase catalytic system to degrade the organic dye RhB, which was used to address the drawbacks of persulfate oxidation and ozonation techniques. The structure, ionic and elemental composition, specific surface area, and magnetic properties of the LDHs were investigated using a variety of physicochemical characterization tools. The results showed that MnFe-LDH had a large specific surface area, a rich crystalline phase composition, and a functional group structure. The RhB degradation rate of MnFe-LDH/PMS/O3 was 0.34 min−1, which was much higher than that of other comparative systems. RhB could be completely degraded in 10 min after optimization and had a significant effect on TOC removal. The system was found to be effective over a wide pH range. Common anions were largely unaffected and humic acid acted as an inhibitor. At the same time, the system had generally effective degradation performance for different dyes. Combined with quenching experiments and EPR, it was found that SO4•−, •OH, O_(2)•−, and 1O_(2) all participated in the reaction, and •OH contributed more. The degradation pathway of RhB was derived by LC-MS, and the T.E.S.T. evaluation found that the toxicity of the intermediate product was significantly reduced. Finally, the stability and availability of LDHs were verified using cycling experiments and metal ion leaching. 13Understanding innovation diffusion and adoption strategies in megaproject networks through a fuzzy system dynamic model显示文摘Innovation and knowledge diffusion in megaprojects is one of the most complicated issues in project management.Compared with conventional projects,megaprojects typically entail large-scale investments,long construction periods,and conflicting stakeholder interests,which result in a distinctive pattern of innovation diffusion.However,traditional investigation of innovation diffusion relies on subjective feedback from experts and frequently neglects inter-organizational knowledge creation,which frequently emerges in megaprojects.Therefore,this study adopted project network theory and modeled innovation diffusion in megaprojects as intra-and interorganizational learning processes.In addition,system dynamics and flizzy systems were combined to interpret experts9 subject options as quantitative coefficients of the project network model.This integrated model will assist in developing an insightful understanding of the mechanisms of innovation diffusion in megaprojects.Three typical network structures,namely,a traditional megaproject procurement organization(TMO),the environ megaproject organization(EMO),and an integrated megaproject organization(IMO),were examined under six management scenarios to verify the proposed analytic paradigm.Assessment of project network productivity suggested that the projectivity of the TMO was insensitive to technical and administrative innovations,the EMO could achieve substantial improvement from technical innovations,and the 1MO trended incompatibly with administrative innovations.Thus,industry practitioners and project managers can design and reform agile project coordination by using the proposed quantitative model to encourage innovation adoption and reduce productivity loss at the start of newly established collaborations.Yan ZHANG His-Hsien WEI Dong ZHAO Yilong HAN Jiayu CHEN 2021Frontiers of Engineering Management2021,8,1:0
14Rational Synthesis of Cylindrical Silver Single-crystalline Nanowires via Poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) Reduction of AgCl显示文摘We presented a simple yet convenient hydrothermal approach for the large-scale synthesis of uniform cylindrical silver (Ag) single-crystalline nanowires with diameters of about 25 nm and lengths of 1-4 μm. Poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) was used as a reducing agent, and AgCl was used as a precursor to deliberately control [Ag^+] at a low degree in the overall reaction process through its dynamic equilibrium by directly reducing AgCl with PVP at a quasi-equilibrium growth condition. The as-obtained products were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), infrared spectra (IR) and Raman spectra. Factors such as [PVP], reaction temperature, time, and species of reducing agents and precursors were investigated to have strong influences on the morphologies and structures of the resultant Ag nanostructures. The wire diameter can conveniently be adjusted between 25 and 50 nm by simply adjusting [PVP], reaction temperature and reducing agent species. The as-synthesized silver nanowires can be self-assembled into perfect order arrays after being dried on tin foil due to the PVP coating on the surface, the circular cross-section and the uniform diameter of the Ag nanowires. 15Rationale and design of a randomised double-blind 2×2 factorial trial comparing the effect of a 3-month intensive statin and antiplatelet therapy for patients with acute mild ischaemic stroke or high-risk TIA with intracranial or extracranial atherosclerosis(INSPIRES)显示文摘Background It remains unclear if intensive antiplatelet and statin treatments begun within 24-72 hours of cerebral ischaemic events from intracranial or extracranial atherosclerosis is effective or safe.Methods The Intensive Statin and Antiplatelet Therapy for High-risk Intracranial or Extracranial Atherosclerosis(INSPIRES)trial is a randomised,double-blind,placebo-controlled,multicentre and 2×2 factorial trial.6100 individuals between the ages of 35 and 80 who have experienced a mild ischaemic stroke or high-risk transient ischaemic attack(TIA)within the previous 72 hours that is attributed to≥50%atherosclerotic stenosis of a major intracranial or extracranial artery or multiple infarctions of atherosclerotic origin will be enrolled in the trial.Eligible subjects will be randomised 1:1:1:1 to one of four groups:(1)intensive antiplatelet therapy(combined clopidogrel and aspirin for days 1-21,then aspirin placebo and clopidogrel for days 22-90)plus immediate intensive statin therapy(atorvastatin at a dose of 80 mg daily for the first 21 days,then 40 mg daily for days 22-90);(2)intensive antiplatelet therapy plus delayed intensive statin therapy(atorvastatin placebo for days 1-3,followed by 40 mg per day of atorvastatin for days 4-90);(3)standard antiplatelet therapy(combination of clopidogrel placebo with aspirin for 90 days)plus immediate intensive statin therapy and(4)standard antiplatelet therapy plus delayed intensive statin therapy.The primary efficacy endpoint is any new stroke(ischaemic or haemorrhagic)within 90 days after randomisation.The primary safety endpoint is moderate to severe bleeding at 90 days.Conclusion The INSPIRES trial will assess the efficacy and safety of intensive antiplatelet therapy and immediate intensive statin therapy begun within 72 hours of onset in decreasing the recurrent stroke at 90 days in patients with acute mild ischaemic stroke or high-risk TIA of intracranial or extracranial atherosclerosis origin.Ying Gao Yuesong Pan Shangrong Han Weiqi Chen Jing Jing Chunjuan Wang Yingying Yang Tingting Wang Xia Meng Xingquan Zhao Liping Liu Hao Li S Claiborne Johnston Pierre Amarenco Philip M Bath Yongjun Wang Yilong Wang 2023Stroke & Vascular Neurology2023,8,3:0
16Anthrax lethal toxin and tumor necrosis factor-a synergize on intestinal epithelia to induce mouse death显示文摘Bacillus anthracis lethal toxin(LT)is a determinant of lethal anthrax.Its function in myeloid cells is required for bacterial dissemination,and LT itself can directly trigger dysfunction of the cardiovascular system.The interplay between LT and the host responses is important in the pathogenesis,but our knowledge on this interplay remains limited.Tumor necrosis factor-a(TNF-a)is a pleiotropic pro-inflammatory cytokine induced by bacterial infections.Since LT accumulates and cytokines,predominantly TNF,amass during B.anthracis infection,co-treatment of TNF+LT in mice was used to mimic in vivo conditions for LT to function in inflamed hosts.Bone marrow transplantation and genetically engineered mice showed unexpectedly that the death of intestinal epithelial cells(IECs)rather than that of hematopoietic cells led to LT+TNF-induced lethality.Inhibition of p38a mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)signaling by LT in IECs promoted TNF-induced apoptosis and necroptosis of IECs,leading to intestinal damage and mouse death.Consistently,p38a inhibition by LT enhanced TNF-mediated cell death in human colon epithelial HT-29 cells.As intestinal damage is one of the leading causes of lethality in anthrax patients,the IEC damage caused by LT+TNF would most likely be a mechanism underneath this clinical manifestation and could be a target for interventions.Xinhe Gao Teng Teng Yifei Liu Tingting Ai Rui Zhao Yilong Fu Peipei Zhang Jiahuai Han Yingying Zhang 2024Protein & Cell2024,15,2:0
17Evaluation of temporal compositing algorithms for annual land cover classification using Landsat time series data显示文摘In this paper, four widely used temporal compositing algorithms, i.e.median, maximum NDVI, medoid, and weighted scoring-basedalgorithms, were evaluated for annual land cover classification usingmonthly Landsat time series data. Four study areas located in California,Texas, Kansas, and Minnesota, USA were selected for image compositingand land cover classification. Results indicated that images compositedusing weighted scoring-based algorithms have the best spatial fidelitycompared to other three algorithms. In addition, the weighted scoringbasedalgorithms have superior classification accuracy, followed bymedian, maximum NDVI, and medoid in descending order. However, themedian algorithm has a significant advantage in computational efficiencywhich was ~70 times that of weighted scoring-based algorithms, andwith overall classification accuracy just slightly lower (~0.13% onaverage) than weighted scoring-based algorithms. Therefore, werecommended the weighted scoring-based compositing algorithms forsmall area land cover mapping, and median compositing algorithm forthe land cover mapping of large area considering the balance betweencomputational complexity and classification accuracy. Few pioneering studies have made some progress on logical reasoning tasks that require partitioned inputs of instances(e.g.,sequential data), from which a final concept is formed based on the complex(perhaps logical) relationships between them. However, they cannot apply to low-level cognitive tasks that require unpartitioned inputs(e.g., raw images), such as object recognition and text classification. In this paper, we propose abductive subconcept learning(ASL) to bridge neural network learning and symbolic reasoning on unsegmented image classification tasks. ASL uses deep learning and abductive logical reasoning to jointly learn subconcept perception and secondary reasoning. Specifically, it first employs meta-interpretive learning(MIL) to induce first-order logical hypotheses capturing the relationships between the high-level subconcepts that account for the target concept. Then, it uses the groundings of the logical hypotheses as labels to train a deep learning model for identifying the subconcepts from unpartitioned data. ASL jointly trains the deep learning model and learns the MIL theory by minimizing the inconsistency between their grounded outputs.
