| 1 | Diurnal and Seasonal Dynamics of Soil Respiration at Temperate Leymus Chinensis Meadow Steppes in Western Songnen Plain, China显示文摘To evaluate the diurnal and seasonal variations in soil respiration(Rs) and understand the controlling factors, we measured carbon dioxide(CO2) fluxes and their environmental variables using a LI-6400 soil CO2 flux system at a temperate Leymus chinensis meadow steppe in the western Songnen Plain of China in the growing season(May–October) in 2011 and 2012. The diurnal patterns of soil respiration could be expressed as single peak curves, reaching to the maximum at 11:00–15:00 and falling to the minimum at 21:00–23:00(or before dawn). The time-window between 7:00 and 9:00 could be used as the optimal measuring time to represent the daily mean soil CO2 efflux. In the growing season, the daily value of soil CO2 efflux was moderate in late spring(1.06–2.51 μmol/(m2·s) in May), increased sharply and presented a peak in summer(2.95–3.94 μmol/(m2·s) in July), and then decreased in autumn(0.74–0.97 μmol/(m2·s) in October). Soil temperature(Ts) exerted dominant control on the diurnal and seasonal variations of soil respiration. The temperature sensitivity of soil respiration(Q10) exhibited a large seasonal variation, ranging from 1.35 to 3.32, and decreased with an increasing soil temperature. Rs gradually increased with increasing soil water content(Ws) and tended to decrease when Ws exceeded the optimum water content(27%) of Rs. | 2 | Mercury oxidation and adsorption characteristics of potassium permanganate modified lignite semi-coke显示文摘The adsorption characteristics of virgin and potassium permanganate modified lignite semi-coke(SC)for gaseous Hg0 were investigated in an attempt to produce more effective and lower price adsorbents for the control of elemental mercury emission.Brunauer-EmmettTeller(BET)measurements,X-ray powder diffraction(XRD)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)were used to analyze the surface physical and chemical properties of SC,Mn-SC and Mn-H-SC before and after mercury adsorption.The results indicated that potassium permanganate modification had significant influence on the properties of semi-coke,such as the specific surface area,pore structure and surface chemical functional groups.The mercury adsorption efficiency of modified semi-coke was lower than that of SC at low temperature,but much higher at high temperature.Amorphous Mn7+,Mn6+ and Mn 4+ on the surface of Mn-SC and Mn-H-SC were the active sites for oxidation and adsorption of gaseous Hg0,which oxidized the elemental mercury into Hg2+ and captured it.Thermal treatment reduced the average oxidation degree of Mnx+ on the surface of Mn-SC from 3.80 to 3.46.However,due to the formation of amorphous MnOx,the surface oxidation active sites for gaseous Hg0 increased,which gave Mn-H-SC higher mercury adsorption efficiency than that of Mn-SC at high temperature. | Huawei Zhang Jitao Chen Peng Liang Li Wang | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,12: | 12 |

| 6 | Cloning of catalase and expression patterns of catalase and selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase from Exopalaemon carinicauda in response to low salinity stress显示文摘Catalase(CAT) and selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase(Se-GPx) play a vital role in protecting organisms against various oxidative stresses by eliminating H2O2. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the roles of these antioxidant molecules in the ridgetail white prawn Exopalaemon carinicauda in response to low salinity stress. A complementary DNA(cDNA) containing the complete coding sequence of CAT was cloned from the hepatopancreas using reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and rapid amplification of cDNA ends. The full-length cDNA of CAT(2 649 bp) contains a 5'-untranslated region(UTR) of 78 bp, a 3'- UTR of1 017 bp, with a poly(A) tail, and an open reading frame of 1 554 bp encoding a 517-amino-acid polypeptide with predicted molecular mass of 58.46 kDa and estimated isoelectric point of 6.64. This CAT sequence contained the proximal active site signature(60FDRERIPERVVHAKGAG76), proximal heme-ligand signature sequence(350RLFSYPDTH358) and three catalytic amino acid residues(His71, Asn144 and Tyr354). Sequence comparison showed that the CAT deduced amino acid sequence of E. carinicauda shared 68%-92% of identities with those of other species. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed that CAT m RNA was widely expressed in the hepatopancreas(highest), hemocyte, eyestalk, heart, gill, muscle, ovary and stomach. Under low salinity stress,CAT and GPx m RNA expression levels both in the gill and hepatopancreas increased significantly at the first 48 h and 6 h respectively, indicating a tissue- and time-dependent antioxidant response in E. carinicauda. The individuals of F. chinensis were exposed to 200 and 1000 cells m L-1 of A. tamarense with their superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione S-transferase(GST) activities, malonyldialdehyde(MDA) concentration, and caspase gene(Fc Casp) expression in hepatopancreas determined at 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h. In addition, apoptosis in hepatopancreas of F. chinensis at 96 h after exposure was determined through terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP nick end labeling(TUNEL) assay. The hepatopancreatic SOD and GST activities of F. chinensis exposed to 1000 cells m L-1 of A. tamarense showed a bell-shaped response to exposure time. The hepatopancreatic MDA concentration of F. chinensis exposed to 1000 cells m L-1 of A. tamarense increased gradually from 48 to 96 h, and such a trend corresponded to the decrease of GST activity. The hepatopancreatic Fc Casp transcript abundance of F. chinensis exposed to 1000 cells m L-1 of A. tamarense was positively and linearly correlated to MDA concentration. Results of TUNEL assay showed that exposure to 1000 cells m L-1 of A. tamarense induced apoptosis in the hepatopancreas of F. chinensis. | 13 | Diurnal Variation of Soil CO2 Efflux and Its Optimal Measuring Time-window of Temperate Meadow Steppes in Western Songnen Plain, China显示文摘In order to study the diurnal variation of soil CO_2 efflux from temperate meadow steppes in Northeast China, and determine the best time for observation, a field experiment was conducted with a LI-6400 soil CO_2 flux system under five typical plant communities(Suaeda glauca(Sg), Chloris virgata(Cv), Puccinellia distans(Pd), Leymus chinensis(Lc) and Phragmites australis(Pa)) and an alkali-spot land(As) at the meadow steppe of western Songnen Plain. The results showed that the diurnal variation of soil CO_2 efflux exhibited a single peak curve in the growing season. Diurnal maximum soil respiration(Rs) often appeared between 11:00 and 13:00, while the minimum occurred at 21:00–23:00 or before dawn. Air temperature near the soil surface(Ta) and soil temperature at 10 cm depth(T10) exerted dominant control on the diurnal variations of soil respiration. The time-windows 7:00–9:00 could be used as the optimal measuring time to represent the daily mean soil CO_2 efflux at the Cv, Pd, Lc and Pa sites. The daily mean soil CO_2 efflux was close to the soil CO_2 efflux from 15:00 to 17:00 and the mean of 2 individual soil CO_2 efflux from 15:00 to 19:00 at the As and Sg sites, respectively. During nocturnal hours, negative soil CO_2 fluxes(CO_2 downwards into the soil) were frequently observed at the As and Sg sites, the magnitude of the negative CO_2 fluxes were 0.10–1.55 μmol/(m^2·s) and 0.10–0.69 μmol/(m^2·s)at the two sites. | 14 | Depositional Environments of the Upper Permian Quartzose Sandstone(Shandong Province, North China): Insight from Trace Element Geochemistry显示文摘The depositional environment of the Upper Permian quartzose sandstone(Kuishan sandstone in Shihezi Formation of Upper Permian) in the North China epicontinental basin is controversial. In order to test the previous hypotheses, we analyzed sedimentological characteristics of the Kuishan sandstones in outcrops and boreholes, and carried out trace element geochemical analysis by electron probe microanalyzer. Three lithofacies were recognized, including normal-graded conglomerate(Cng), trough and planar cross-bedded coarse sandstone(CStpc), and planar cross-bedded medium sandstone(MSpc). Normal-graded conglomerate(Cng) formed in the meandering river or deltaic distributary channels. Trough and planar cross-bedded coarse sandstone(CStpc) formed in meandering river or distributary channels of near-source deltaic plain. Planar cross-bedded medium sandstone(MSpc) formed in the siliciclastic beach with high- to moderate-energy conditions. By the petrology and trace elements analysis, three relatively large-scale transgressions were revealed. Each transgression was reflected by the lower content of Ba and ratios of Fe/Mn, and the high content of B and ratios of B/Ga. | 16 | Metasurface empowered lithium niobate optical phased array with an enlarged field of view显示文摘Integrated optical phased arrays(OPAs) have attracted significant interest to steer laser beams for applications including free-space communications, holography, and light detection and ranging. Although many methods have been proposed to suppress grating lobes, OPAs have also been limited by the trade-off between field of view(FOV)and beamforming efficiency. Here, we propose a metasurface empowered port-selected OPA(POPA), an OPA steered by port selection, which is implemented by an aperiodic waveguide array with an average pitch less than the wavelength and phase controlled by coupling among waveguides. A metasurface layer above the POPA was designed to increase wide FOV steering, aliasing-free by polarization division. As a result, we experimentally demonstrate beam scanning over a ±41.04° × 7.06° FOV. | 19 | Isolation of Prawn(Exopalaemon carinicauda) Lipopolysaccharide and β-1,3-Glucan Binding Protein Gene and Its Expression in Responding to Bacterial and Viral Infections显示文摘The pattern recognition proteins(PRPs) play a major role in immune response of crustacean to resist pathogens.In the present study,as one of PRPs,lipopolysaccharide and β-1,3-glucan binding protein(LGBP) gene in the ridge tail white prawn(Exopalaemon carinicauda)(Ec LGBP) was isolated.The full-length c DNA of Ec LGBP was 1338 bp,encoding a polypeptide of 366 amino acid residules.The deduced amino acid sequence of Ec LGBP shared high similarities with LGBP and BGBP from other crustaceans.Some conservative domains were predicted in Ec LGBP sequence.Ec LGBP constitutively expressed in most tissues at different levels,and the highest expression was observed in hepatopancreas.With infection time,the cumulative mortality increased gradually followed by the proliferation of Vibrio parahaemolyticus and white spot syndrome virus(WSSV).The expression of Ec LGBP in response to V.parahaemolyticus infection was up-regulated in hemocytes and hepatopancreas,and the up-regulation in hepatopancreas was earlier than that in hemocytes.Ec LGBP expression after WSSV infection increased at 3 h,then significantly decreased in both hemocytes and hepatopancreas.The results indicated that Ec LGBP was involved in the immune defense against bacterial and viral infections. | GE Qianqian LI Jian DUAN Yafei LI Jitao SUN Ming ZHAO Fazhen | 2016 | Journal of Ocean University of China2016,15,2: | 1 |
