1Identification of coastal wetlands of international importance for waterbirds:a review of China Coastal Waterbird Surveys 2005–2013显示文摘Background:China's coastal wetlands belong to some of the most threatened ecosystems worldwide.The loss and degradation of these wetlands seriously threaten waterbirds that depend on wetlands.Methods:The China Coastal Waterbird Census was organized by volunteer birdwatchers in China's coastal region.Waterbirds were surveyed synchronously once every month at 14 sites,as well as irregularly at a further 18 sites,between September 2005 and December 2013.Results:A total of 75 species of waterbirds met the 1 % population level Ramsar listing criterion at least once at one site.The number of birds of the following species accounted for over 20 % of the total flyway populations at a single site:Mute Swan(Cygnus olor),Siberia Crane(Grus leucogeranus),Far Eastern Oystercatcher(Haematopus osculans),Bar-tailed Godwit(Limosa lapponica),Spotted Greenshank(Tringa guttifer),Great Knot(Calidris tenuirostris),Spoon-billed Sandpiper(Calidris pygmeus),Saunders' s Gull(Larus saundersi),Relict Gull(Larus relictus),Great Cormorant(Phalacrocorax carbo),Eurasian Spoonbill(Platalea leucorodia),Black-faced Spoonbill(Platalea minor) and Dalmatian Pelican(Pelecanus crispus).A total of 26 sites supported at least one species of which their number met the1 % criterion.Forty-two species met the 1 % criterion in the Yellow River Delta,Shandong;29 at the Cangzhou coast,Hebei and 26 species at the Lianyungang coast,Jiangsu.Conclusions:The results highlight the international importance of China's coastal wetlands for waterbirds.This study also demonstrates that participation of local birdwatchers in waterbird surveys results in data that are invaluable not only for understanding the current status of waterbirds in China's coastal regions but also for waterbird conservation and management.Qingquan Bai Jianzhong Chen Zhihong Chen Guotai Dong Jiangtian Dong Wenxiao Dong Vivian Wing Kan Fu Yongxiang Han Gang Lu Jing Li Yang Liu Zhi Lin Derong Meng Jonathan Martinez Guanghui Ni Kai Shan Renjie Sun Suixing Tian Fengqin Wang Zhiwei Xu Yat-tung Yu Jin Yang Zhidong Yang Lin Zhang Ming Zhang Xiangwu Zeng 2015Chinese Birds2015,,3:20

3COVID-19: Challenges to GIS with Big Data显示文摘The outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus disease(COVID-19)has caused more than 100,000 people infected and thousands of deaths.Currently,the number of infections and deaths is still increasing rapidly.COVID-19 seriously threatens human health,production,life,social functioning and international relations.In the fight against COVID-19,Geographic Information Systems(GIS)and big data technologies have played an important role in many aspects,including the rapid aggregation of multi-source big data,rapid visualization of epidemic information,spatial tracking of confirmed cases,prediction of regional transmission,spatial segmentation of the epidemic risk and prevention level,balancing and management of the supply and demand of material resources,and socialemotional guidance and panic elimination,which provided solid spatial information support for decision-making,measures formulation,and effectiveness assessment of COVID-19 prevention and control.GIS has developed and matured relatively quickly and has a complete technological route for data preparation,platform construction,model construction,and map production.However,for the struggle against the widespread epidemic,the main challenge is finding strategies to adjust traditional technical methods and improve speed and accuracy of information provision for social management.At the data level,in the era of big data,data no longer come mainly from the government but are gathered from more diverse enterprises.As a result,the use of GIS faces difficulties in data acquisition and the integration of heterogeneous data,which requires governments,businesses,and academic institutions to jointly promote the formulation of relevant policies.At the technical level,spatial analysis methods for big data are in the ascendancy.Currently and for a long time in the future,the development of GIS should be strengthened to form a data-driven system for rapid knowledge acquisition,which signifies ts that GIS should be used to reinforce the social operation parameterization of models and methods,especially when providing support for social management.Chenghu Zhou Fenzhen Su Tao Pei An Zhang Yunyan Du Bin Luo Zhidong Cao Juanle Wang Wen Yuan Yunqiang Zhu Ci Song Jie Chen Jun Xu Fujia Li Ting Ma Lili Jiang Fengqin Yan Jiawei Yi Yunfeng Hu Yilan Liao Han Xiao 2020Geography and Sustainability2020,1,1:13
4Branched aliphatic alkanes of shell bar section in Qarhan Lake,Qaidam Basin and their paleoclimate significance显示文摘Biomarkers of paleolake deposits from Qarhan Salt Lake in Qaidam Basin,northwest China were sys-tematically analyzed and the A―C series compounds of branched aliphatic alkanes with quaternary substituted carbon atom(BAQCs) were identified. The homologous distinguished three series,A―C,were identified as 5,5-diethylalkanes,6,6-diethylalkanes and 5-butyl,5-ethylalkanes series,and their relative abundance was A > B > C. Series A and C were characterized by odd carbon numbers,whereas series B was characterized by even carbon numbers. The high values of series A corresponded with the high values of series B and C. Therefore,it can be concluded that series A,B and C possess a similar biological origin. The abundance of series A was relatively low in the lower part of the section compared with that in the upper part,implying that these series originated from bacteria and/or algae more prevalent in fresh-mesohaline water,and such kinds of bacteria and/or algae are most likely to be thermophilous species. 5Baicalin extracted from Huangqin(Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis) induces apoptosis in gastric cancer cells by regulating B cell lymphoma(Bcl-2)/Bcl-2-associated X protein and activating caspase-3 and caspase-9显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effects of baicalin in human gastric cancer cells, including apoptosis-inducing effects, and to investigate its underlying mechanisms of action.METHODS:Cell proliferation and apoptosis assays were performed to investigate the anti-proliferation effects of baicalin in human gastric cancer BGC-823 and MGC-803 cells.Real time-quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting analysis were performed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the anti-tumor properties of baicalin.RESULTS:In BGC-823 and MGC-803 gastric cancer cells treated with 80, 120, and 160 μmol/L baicalin for 48 h, a 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide assay showed that baicalin significantly inhibited cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner, while flow cytometric analysis demonstrated that baicalin could induce apoptosis, also in a dose-dependent manner.Moreover, baicalin up-regulated the expression of caspase-3, caspase-9, and B cell lymphoma(Bcl-2)-associated X protein and down-regulated the expression of Bcl-2 at both the m RNA and protein level.CONCLUSION:Baicalin has potential as a therapeutic agent for gastric cancer by inducing apoptosis in cancer cells.Wang Hongwei Li Hailong Chen Fengqin Luo Jun Gu Jing Wang Huping Wu Hongyan Xu Yan 2017Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2017,37,2:13

87,8-Dihydroxyflavone suppresses proliferation and induces apoptosis of human osteosarcoma cells显示文摘Recent studies suggest that 7,8-dihydroxyflavone(7,8-DHF)inhibits the development of several tumors.However,its role in osteosarcoma(OS)remains unknown.This study was designed to investigate the effects and underlying mechanisms of 7,8-DHF that may influence OS development.Human OS cell lines(U2OS and 143B)were treated with 7,8-DHF;cell viability and cell migration were assessed by methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tetrazolium bromide(MTT)assay and wound-healing assay,respectively;and cell death and apoptosis were evaluated by LIVE/DEAD staining and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase(TdT)dUTP nick-end labeling(TUNEL)assay,respectively.Reactive oxygen species production was measured using 2,7-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate probe.Akt,Bcl-xL/Bcl-2 asociated death promoter(Bad),p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK),extracellular regulated protein kinase(ERK),and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)expression and their respective phosphorylation levels were detected by western blot analysis.We found that 7,8-DHF reduced cell viability in a dose-dependent manner and also promoted apoptosis,inhibited migration,and induced oxidative stress in OS cells.Moreover,7,8-DHF inhibited Akt,Bad,and p38MAPK,but activated ERK and JNK signals.In summary,our results suggest that 7,8-DHF inhibits OS progression,possibly by regulating Akt/Bad and MAPK signaling.These findings provide new evidence for the pharmacological effects of 7,8-DHF that may improve drug therapy for OS patients.Jing Zhao Peifeng Li Hua Zhu Fengqin Ge Jie Liu Jingjun Xia Pengzhou Hang 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,7:3

12Corrosion Behavior and Protection Efficiency of 2024Al and SiC_p/2024Al Metal Matrix Composite显示文摘The corrosion resistance of 2024 Al and SiC particle reinforced 2024 Al metal matrix composite (SiCp/2024Al MMC)in 3.5% NaCl solution was investigated with electrochemical method and immersion test, and the corrosion protection of sulfuric acid anodized coatings on both materials was evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that the SiCp/2024Al MMC is more susceptible to corrosion than its matrix alloy in 3.5% NaCl.For 2024Al, the anodized coating provides excellent corrosion resistance to 3.5% NaCl. 13COVID-19 Outbreaks Linked to Imported Frozen Food in China:Status and Challege显示文摘Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)RNA contamination was reported on China’s imported frozen foods and packaging materials.However,there was no evidence of this disease initiated by environment-to-human transmission until the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in Beijing in June 2020.This article aimed to analyze and summarize COVID-19 outbreaks related to cold-chain foods to provide a scientific basis for tracing the epidemiological trajectory of the pandemic,providing risk assessments,and mitigation policies.Overall,37 COVID-19 outbreaks and 5,741 infected cases were reported within the study period.It was found that 7 outbreaks and 689 cases were linked to imported frozen foods.The first index case among the 7 outbreaks was exposed to SARS-CoV-2-contaminated outer packaging of frozen food,triggering the subsequent community transmission.This study supported the speculation that cold-chain foods act as a pathway for SARS-CoV-2 and might present a risk for virus transmission between countries and regions.Handlers and processors exposed to the imported frozen foods should be effectively self-protected,daily monitored for clinical manifestations of COVID-19,and tested for SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid at regular intervals.Jiahui Wang Fengqin Li Zhaoping Liu Ning Li 2022China CDC weekly2022,4,22:2
14Tea polyphenols inhibit the growth and angiogenesis of breast cancer xenografts in a mouse model显示文摘Objective:To investigate the anti-angiogenic effect of tea polyphenols(TPS)on breast cancer and normal tissues in a mouse model.Methods:Breast cancer was successfully implanted into 48 BALB/c mice,which were then randomly divided into a TP oral gavage group,a TP local injection group,a ginsenoside Rg3 group,and a model control group according to a random number table.The tumor inhibitory rates of each group were calculated,while microvessel density(MVD)and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF),and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase(TIMP-2)were detected by immunohistochemistry.Results:TPs could inhibit the growth of breast cancer xenografts in the mouse model.The tumor inhibition rates of the TP oral gavage and TP local injection groups were 37.43%and 40.94%,respectively.Compared with the model control group,MVD and VEGF and bFGF expression was downregulated(all P<.05),whereas TIMP-2 expression was elevated in the TP oral gavage and TP local injection groups(P=.015 and P=.032).TPs showed no significant effect on MVD and VEGF and TIMP-2 expression in the heart,brain,and kidney of the mouse model.Conclusion:TPs can restrict the growth of breast cancer by specifically inhibiting the angiogenesis of breast tumor tissue while having little effect on the normal tissue of important organs including the heart,brain,and kidney.Peng Lv Fengqin Shi Xinyi Chen Li Xu Chong Wang Shaodan Tian Heng Yang Li Hou 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2020,7,2:2
15NiCo_(2)O_(4) hollow microsphere-mediated ultrafast peroxymonosulfate activation for dye degradation显示文摘Morphology and dispersity are key factors for activating peroxymonosulfate(PMS).In this study,we designed a recyclable open-type NiCo_(2)O_(4) hollow microsphere via a simple hydrothermal method with the assistance of an NH_(3) vesicle.The physical structure and chemical properties were characterized using techniques such as scanning electron microscope(SEM),transmission electron microscope(TEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),N2 adsorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The test results confirm that the inner and outer surfaces of open-type NiCo_(2)O_(4) hollow-sphere can be efficiently utilized because of the hole on the surface of the catalyst,which can minimize the diffusion resistance of the reactants and products.Under optimized conditions,the total orga nic carbon(TOC) removal efficiency of rhodamine B(RhB) can reach up to 80% in 40 min,which is almost 50% shorter than the reported values.The reactive radicals were identified and the proposed reaction mechanism was well described.Moreover,the disturbances of HCO_(3)^(-),NO_(3)^(-),Cl^(-)and H_(2) PO_(4)^(-)were further investigated.As a result,HCO_(3)-and NO_(3)-suppressed the reaction while Cl-and H_(2) PO4-had a double effect on reaction.Pengjia Ding Jianrui Niu Fengqin Chang Zhuang He Thomas Wagberg Zaixing Li Guangzhi Hu 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,8:2
