1Changes in the power spectrum of electrical signals in maize leaf induced by osmotic stress显示文摘To quantify the characteristics of the power spectrum of plant electrical signals, we defined the following concepts:spectral edge frequency (SEF), spectral center frequency (SCF), power index (PI) and power spectral entropy (PSE). These parameters were used to examine and quantify changes in the power spectrum of electrical signals in maize leaves under osmotic stress. In the absence of osmotic stress, the SEF of the electrical signal in maize leaves was approx. 0.2 Hz and the SCF was approx. 0.1 Hz. The electrical signal in maize leaves was mainly a slow wave signal with a frequency of 0-0.1 Hz. After 2 h osmotic stress, the SEF and SCF of the electrical signal increased to higher frequencies. The proportion of the fast wave frequency also increased to 0.1-0.2 Hz, resulting in a dramatic increase in PSE. We also found that the changes in PSE and SCF were significantly correlated during osmotic stress. We propose that the changes in the PSE and SCF in maize leaves can be used as a sensitive signal indicating water deficit in leaf cells under osmotic stress. 2The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. 4A NAC transcription factor, NOR-like1, is a new positive regulator of tomato fruit ripening显示文摘Ripening of the model fruit tomato(Solanum lycopersicum)is controlled by a transcription factor network including NAC(NAM,ATAF1/2,and CUC2)domain proteins such as No-ripening(NOR),SlNAC1,and SlNAC4,but very little is known about the NAC targets or how they regulate ripening.Here,we conducted a systematic search of fruit-expressed NAC genes and showed that silencing NOR-like1(Solyc07g063420)using virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS)inhibited specific aspects of ripening.Ripening initiation was delayed by 14 days when NOR-like1 function was inactivated by CRISPR/Cas9 and fruits showed obviously reduced ethylene production,retarded softening and chlorophyll loss,and reduced lycopene accumulation.RNA-sequencing profiling and gene promoter analysis suggested that genes involved in ethylene biosynthesis(SlACS2,SlACS4),color formation(SlGgpps2,SlSGR1),and cell wall metabolism(SlPG2a,SlPL,SlCEL2,and SlEXP1)are direct targets of NOR-like1.Electrophoretic mobility shift assays(EMSA),chromatin immunoprecipitation-quantitative PCR(ChIP-qPCR),and dual-luciferase reporter assay(DLR)confirmed that NOR-like1 bound to the promoters of these genes both in vitro and in vivo,and activated their expression.Our findings demonstrate that NOR-like1 is a new positive regulator of tomato fruit ripening,with an important role in the transcriptional regulatory network.Ying Gao Wei Wei Xiaodan Zhao Xiaoli Tan Zhongqi Fan Yiping Zhang Yuan Jing Lanhuan Meng Benzhong Zhu Hongliang Zhu Jianye Chen Cai-Zhong Jiang Donald Grierson Yunbo Luo Da-Qi Fu 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:9

7Comparative genomic and transcriptomic analyses uncover the molecular basis of high nitrogen-use efficiency in the wheat cultivar Kenong 9204显示文摘Studying the regulatory mechanisms that drive nitrogen-use efficiency(NUE)in crops is important for sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.In this study,we generated a high-quality genome assembly for the high-NUE wheat cultivar Kenong 9204 and systematically analyzed genes related to nitrogen uptake and metabolism.By comparative analyses,we found that the high-affinity nitrate transporter gene family had expanded in Triticeae.Further studies showed that subsequent functional differentiation endowed the expanded family members with saline inducibility,providing a genetic basis for improving the adaptability of wheat to nitrogen deficiency in various habitats.To explore the genetic and molecular mechanisms of high NUE,we compared genomic and transcriptomic data from the high-NUE cultivar Kenong 9204(KN9204)and the low-NUE cultivar Jing 411 and quantified their nitrogen accumulation under high-and low-nitrogen conditions.Compared with Jing 411,KN9204 absorbed significantly more nitrogen at the reproductive stage after shooting and accumulated it in the shoots and seeds.Transcriptome data analysis revealed that nitrogen deficiency clearly suppressed the expression of genes related to cell division in the young spike of Jing 411,whereas this suppression of gene expression was much lower in KN9204.In addition,KN9204 maintained relatively high expression of NPF genes for a longer time than Jing 411 during seed maturity.Physiological and transcriptome data revealed that KN9204 was more tolerant of nitrogen deficiency than Jing 411,especially at the reproductive stage.The high NUE of KN9204 is an integrated effect controlled at different levels.Taken together,our data provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms of NUE and important gene resources for improving wheat cultivars with a higher NUE trait.Xiaoli Shi Fa Cui Xinyin Han Yilin He Long Zhao Na Zhang Hao Zhang Haidong Zhu Zhexin Liu Bin Ma Shusong Zheng Wei Zhang Jiajia Liu Xiaoli Fan Yaoqi Si Shuiquan Tian Jianqing Niu Huilan Wu Xuemei Liu Zhuo Chen Deyuan Meng Xiaoyan Wang Liqiang Song Lijing Sun Jie Han Hui Zhao Jun Ji Zhiguo Wang Xiaoyu He Ruilin Li Xuebin Chi Chengzhi Liang Beifang Niu Jun Xiao Junming Li Hong-Qing Ling 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,9:6
8AFM quantitative analysis and determination of shear angle of {259}_f martensitic surface relief显示文摘An attentive observation and quantitative analysis of {259}f martensitic surface relief in an Fe-23Ni-0.55C alloy are made by means of an atomic force microscope (AFM), and different martensitic variants' shear angles are determined in this paper. The experiments show that {259}f martensitic surface relief exhibits regular shape in many cases, which is in agreement with the prediction of invariant plane strain (IPS). Generally, {259}f martensitic surface relief appears to be 'N'-shaped, but it is tent-shaped in the case of zigzag-shaped martensite. The compressed deformation of parent phase diminishes the surface relief in size but with little change of its relief angle. {259}f martensitic surface relief, large or small, has approximately the same relief angles, exhibiting a good 'self-similar fractal'. 9The influence of atmospheric Hg on Hg contaminations in rice and paddy soil in the Xunyang Hg mining district,China显示文摘To date, the Xunyang mercury(Hg) mining district is the only ongoing large-scale Hg mining district in China. To understand the influence of Hg contamination mode from the Hg mining and smelting activities, 27 sampling sites in the Xunyang Hg mining district were chosen in this study. Total gaseous mercury(TGM) in ambient air was measured using a Lumex-RA915 automatic Hg analyzer in2011. Rice samples and soil samples from rhizosphere were collected systematically and simultaneously. Total Hg(THg) and methylmercury(Me Hg) concentrations in rice grain and soil samples and Hg speciation with modified sequential selective extractions were measured. The local environment was seriously polluted with Hg. The TGM(302 ± 376 ng·m-3, ranging from 24 to 2220 ng·m^(-3)) in the local ambient air, THg(28 ± 30 mg·kg^(-1), ranging from 0.31 to 121 mg·kg^(-1)) and Me Hg(2.3 ± 1.9 lg·kg^(-1),ranging from 0.24 to 8.9 lg·kg^(-1)) in soil samples were at the sample level with Hg contaminated area. The THg concentration(26 ± 16 lg·kg^(-1)ranging from 4.5 to 71 lg·kg^(-1)) in most of the rice grain samples clearly exceeds the threshold level(20 lg·kg^(-1)) in the Chinese national guidelines for cereals(NY 861-2004). The inorganic mercury(IHg)(9.1 ± 5.6 lg·kg^(-1), ranging from 1.2 to 24 lg·kg^(-1)) and Me Hg(14 ± 9.8 lg·kg^(-1), ranging from 2.1 to 59 lg·kg^(-1))concentration in rice grain samples were at the same level with Hg contaminated area. The main species of Hg in paddy soils reveal strong complex Hg and residue Hg. 10Effect of zinc substitution in hydroxyapatite coating on osteoblast and osteoclast differentiation under osteoblast/osteoclast co-culture显示文摘Zinc is an essential trace element required for bone remodelling process,but its role in such process remains to be elucidated.In particular,inconsistent results have been reported on the effect of Zn on osteoclastic responses,and supplement of receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand(RANKL)factors has been commonly adopted.Co-culture is a suitable approach to elucidating the role of Zn in bone remodelling process,by better imitating the cellular environment as the presence of osteoblasts plays critical role in modulating osteoclastic functions.In this study,zincsubstituted HA coatings have been deposited using a liquid precursor plasma spraying process at two different concentrations(1,2 wt.%).The effect of zinc substitution on osteoblastic and osteoclastic differentiation has been studied in vitro.In particular,a cultivation regime was designed to first induce osteoblastic differentiation of rat bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs)for 14 days,and then induce osteoclastic differentiation of osteoclast-like precursor RAW 264.7 cells through the aid of the osteoblasts formed for additional 14 days,in the absence of the external addition of RANKL.The results showed that Zn substitution moderately promoted the BMSC differentiation into the osteoblasts and reduced the osteoclastic activity in early time(1 day co-culture).However,promotion of the osteoclastic activity were observed at later stages,as indicated by the significantly enhanced expressions of trap5b and IL-1(8-and 15-day co-culture)and moderate stimulation of the nucleus integration and formation of the multinucleated cells(14-day co-culture).Such stimulating effect of the osteoclastic activity was absent under mono-culture of RAW 264.7 cell,with simple RANKL supplementation.The results suggest that both the zinc and the presence of MSC/osteoblast play profound and highly interacted roles on osteoclast differentiation and activity,which is critical in modulating the bone remodelling process.Guolong Meng Xiaoli Wu Ruijuan Yao Jing He Wu Yao Fang Wu 2019Regenerative Biomaterials2019,6,6:4
11Computational investigation of hydrodynamics and cracking reaction in a heavy oil riser reactor显示文摘This paper presents a computational investigation of hydrodynamics, heat transfer and cracking reaction in a heavy oil riser operated in a novel operating mode of low temperature contact and high catalyst-to-oil ratio. Through incorporating feedstock vaporization and a 12-lump cracking kinetics model, a validated gas-solid flow model has been extended to the analysis of the hydrodynamic and reaction behavior in an industrial riser. The results indicate that the hydrodynamics, temperature and species concentration exhibit significantly nonuniform behavior inside the riser, especially in the atomization nozzle region. The lump concentration profiles along the riser height provide useful information for riser optimization. 13Spatial and Temporal Evolution Characteristics of PM2.5 in China from 1998 to 2016显示文摘The rapid development of China’s economy and urbanization has given rise to noticeable environmental problems,among which the change of air quality has received extensive attention.The panel data of PM2.5(particles with an aerodynamic diameter of 2.5μm or less)in 343 prefecture-level cities in China from 1998 to 2016 were statistically analyzed to reveal the characteristics of the temporal evolution and spatial variation of China’s air quality in the past two decades.The results show that:1)the overall deterioration trend of air quality is obvious throughout the country.The variation trend of PM2.5 was divided into three phases:rapid-growth phase(1998–2007),lag phase(2006–2011)and mildly-incremental phase(2012–2016),with their average growth rates of 7.19%,-3.59%and 0.52%,respectively.2)The spatial difference of PM2.5 values in China increased significantly with time.Since 2003,the high-value area in the east has expanded rapidly,and polarization became much more pronounced.The change rate of PM2.5 is high in the east and west and low in the middle.The change rates of most areas in the west exceed more than 80%,and in the east lie somewhere between 40%and 60%.In the midlands,the change rate is not large and some regions even show a negative growth.3)The change rate of PM2.5 is also high in areas with higher values.However,in regions where the change rate of PM2.5 is high,the value of PM2.5 is not always high.The high change rate is mainly attributable to the low base value of PM2.5 and the cities concerned belong to sensitive areas.4)According to the PM2.5 warning index,the number of strong,medium,weak and non-warning areas in China is 45,85,159 and 54,respectively.LI Hua TONG Helong WU Xianhua LU Xiaoli MENG Shuhan 2020Chinese Geographical Science2020,30,6:2
14Functional markers developed from TaGS3, a negative regulator of grain weight and size, for marker-assisted selection in wheat显示文摘The TaGS3 homoeologous genes(homoeologs)located on chromosomes 7 A,4 A,and7 D in hexaploid wheat were cloned.Relative expression analysis of the three Ta GS3 homoeologs revealed that the expression levels of TaGS3-4 A and TaGS3-7 D in developing grains were higher than that of TaGS3-7 A.Genetic evidence showed that Ta GS3 was a negative regulator of grain weight and grain size.Fifteen polymorphic sites and five haplotypes were detected in TaGS3-4 A.Two molecular markers were developed to distinguish the five haplotypes.Association analysis using 260 accessions from Chinese wheat mini-core collection(MCC)indicated that TaGS3-4 A affected thousand grain weight(TGW)and grain length(GL).HAP-4 A-1 and HAP-4 A-2 were favorable haplotypes that increased TGW and GL and had undergone strong selection during domestication of wheat.In addition,interaction of the TaGS3-4 A and TaGS3-7 D homoeologs had significant additive effects on the grain traits.Hap-4 A-1/Hap-7 D-2 was the best haplotype combination in increasing TGW and GL.The frequencies and geographic distributions of favorable TaGS3 haplotypes among 1388 wheat accessions from worldwide sources provided clues for selection of yield-related traits.Our findings demonstrated that TaGS3-4 A had significant effects on TGW and GL.Marker-assisted selection of HAP-4 A-1/2 combined with HAP-7 D-2 has potential to increase wheat yields.Wei Zhang Huifang Li Liya Zhi Qiannan Su Jiajia Liu Xiaoli Ren Deyuan Meng Na Zhang Jun Ji Xueyong Zhang Junming Li 2020The Crop Journal2020,8,6:2
15Analysis of the origin of peak aerosol optical depth in springtime over the Gulf of Tonkin显示文摘By aggregating MODIS(moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer) AOD(aerosol optical depth) and OMI(ozone monitoring instrument) UVAI(ultra violet aerosol index)datasets over 2010–2014, it was found that peak aerosol loading in seasonal variation occurred annually in spring over the Gulf of Tonkin(17–23°N, 105–110°E). The vertical structure of the aerosol extinction coefficient retrieved from the spaceborne lidar CALIOP(cloud-aerosol lidar with orthogonal polarization) showed that the springtime peak AOD could be attributed to an abrupt increase in aerosol loading between altitudes of 2 and 5 km.In contrast, aerosol loading in the low atmosphere(below 1 km) was only half of that in winter. Wind fields in the low and high atmosphere exhibited opposite transportation patterns in spring over the Gulf of Tonkin, implying different sources for each level. By comparing the emission inventory of anthropogenic sources with biomass burning, and analyzing the seasonal variation of the vertical structure of aerosols over the Northern Indo-China Peninsula(NIC), it was concluded that biomass burning emissions contributed to high aerosol loading in spring. The relatively high topography and the high surface temperature in spring made planetary boundary layer height greater than 3 km over NIC. In addition, small-scale cumulus convection frequently occurred, facilitating pollutant rising to over 3 km, which was a height favoring long-range transport.
