| 1 | Yangtze Three Gorges Reservoir, China: A holistic assessment of organic pollution, mutagenic effects of sediments and genotoxic impacts on fish显示文摘Besides obvious benefits,the Three Gorges Dam's construction resulted in new pollution scenarios with the potentials to threaten the Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR) ecosystem.In order to record organic contamination,to find links to ecotoxicological impacts and to serve as reference for ensuing monitoring,several sites in the TGR area were screened applying the triad approach with additional lines-of-evidence as a holistic assessment method.Sediments and the benthic fish species Pelteobagrus vachellii were sampled in 2011 and 2012 to determine organic pollution levels,mutagenic potentials and genotoxic impacts.Two regional hot-spots near the cities of Chongqing and Kaixian were identified and further investigated in 2013.Only polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) could be detected in sediments in 2011(165–1653 ng/g),emphasizing their roles as key pollutants of the area.Their ubiquity was confirmed at Chongqing(150–433 ng/g) and Kaixian(127–590 ng/g) in2013.Concentrations were comparable to other major Chinese and German rivers.However,the immense sediment influx suggested a deposition of 216–636 kg PAH/day(0.2–0.6 mg PAH/(m2·day)),indicating an ecotoxicological risk.PAH source analysis highlighted primary impacts of combustion sources on the more industrialized upper TGR section,whereas petrogenic sources dominated the mid-low section.Furthermore,sediment extracts from several sites exhibited significant activities of frameshift promutagens in the Ames fluctuation assay.Additionally,significant genotoxic impairments in erythrocytes of P.vachellii were detected(Chongqing/Kaixian),demonstrating the relevance of genotoxicity as animportant mode of action in the TGR's fish.PAHs,their derivatives and non-target compounds are considered as main causative agents. | Tilman Floehr Bj?rn Scholz-Starke Hongxia Xiao Josef Koch Lingling Wu Junli Hou Anja Wolf Axel Bergmann Kerstin Bluhm Xingzhong Yuan Martina Ro?-Nickoll Andreas Sch?ffer Henner Hollert | 2015 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2015,27,12: | 9 |
| 2 | Genome-wide Characterization of cis-acting Elements in the Promoters of Key Carotenoid Pathway Genes from the Main Species of Genus Citrus显示文摘Carotenoids are indispensable for both human health and plant survival.Citrus,is one of the fruit crops richest in carotenoid compounds,with approximately 115 kinds of carotenoids;tremendous diversity in carotenoids composition and concentration exists among various species,showing different colors from nearly white to crimson.The carotenoid biosynthetic pathway and the key carotenogenic genes have been identified in citrus;however,the underlying regulatory mechanisms remain unclear.In this study,among the main species of genus Citrus(primitive,wild,and cultivated),we detected carotenoids in flavedo using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography,and analyzed variations in cis-acting elements in the promoters of key carotenoid pathway genes.Intriguingly,both carotenoid composition and content were generally increased during the evolution of citrus,and the corresponding variations in the promoters were identified,including the gain or loss of critical environmental stress-responsive elements and hormone-responsive elements,which are closely associated with carotenoid enhancement.In addition,pummelo has the most heat-responsive elements,but the Mangshan mandarin does not have this element in the promoters of PSY,which is highly related to their geographical origin and indicate that temperature is a critical environmental signal influencing carotenoid accumulation.Moreover,the abscisic acid-responsive motif was rich in almost all the seven species,but the ethylene-responsive motif was deficient,which demystified the unique phytohormone regulation mechanism of carotenoid accumulation in citrus.Overall,our study provides new insights into the molecular regulatory mechanism of carotenoid enhancement in the evolution of citrus,which can facilitate breeding and cultivation efforts to improve the nutritional quality and esthetic value in citrus and hopefully other fruit crops. | Kaijie Zhu Qingjiang Wu Yue Huang Junli Ye Qiang Xu Xiuxin Deng | 2020 | Horticultural Plant Journal2020,6,6: | 8 |
| 3 | Distinctive effects of CD34- and CD133-specific antibody-coated stents on re-endothelialization and in-stent restenosis at the early phase of vascular injury显示文摘It is not clear what effects of CD34-and CD133-specific antibody-coated stents have on reendothelialization and in-stent restenosis(ISR)at the early phase of vascular injury.This study aims at determining the capabilities of different coatings on stents(e.g.gelatin,anti-CD133 and anti-CD34 antibodies)to promote adhesion and proliferation of endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs).The in vitro study revealed that the adhesion force enabled the EPCs coated on glass slides to withstand flow-induced shear stress,so that allowing for the growth of the cells on the slides for 48 h.The in vivo experiment using a rabbit model in which the coated stents with different substrates were implanted showed that anti-CD34 and anti-CD133 antibody-coated stents markedly reduced the intima area and restenosis than bare mental stents(BMS)and gelatin-coated stents.Compared with the anti-CD34 antibody-coated stents,the time of cells adhesion was longer and earlier present in the anti-CD133 antibody-coated stents and anti-CD133 antibody-coated stents have superiority in re-endothelialization and inhibition of ISR.In conclusion,this study demonstrated that anti-CD133 antibody as a stent coating for capturing EPCs is better than anti-CD34 antibody in promoting endothelialization and reducing ISR. | Xue Wu Tieying Yin Jie Tian Chaojun Tang Junli Huang Yinping Zhao Xiaojuan Zhang Xiaoyan Deng Yubo Fan Donghong Yu Guixue Wang | 2015 | Regenerative Biomaterials2015,2,2: | 7 |

| 5 | Severity of early allograft dysfunction following donation after circulatory death liver transplantation:a multicentre study显示文摘Background:Early allograft dysfunction(EAD)is associated with decreased graft and patient survival rates.This study aimed to identify the severity of EAD and develop a predictive model for EAD after donation after circulatory death(DCD)liver transplantation(LT).Furthermore,the influence of operative time on EAD incidence was also evaluated.Methods:In this retrospective,multicentre cohort study,nomograms were established based on a single-centre training cohort(n=321)and validated in a 3-center validation cohort(n=501).Results:The incidence rate of EAD was 46.4%(149/321)in the training cohort and 40.5%(203/501)in the validation cohort.Of the 149 EAD patients in the training cohort,77 patients with either elevated alanine aminotransferase(ALT)or aspartate aminotransferase(AST)were classified as having EAD type A,and the rest of the EAD patients were classified as having EAD type B.Recipients with EAD type B had lower graft and patient survival rates than recipients with EAD type A(P=0.043 and 0.044,respectively).We further developed a nomogram to predict EAD(graft weight,cold ischemia time,donor age,model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score)and another nomogram to predict EAD type B(graft weight,cold ischemia time,MELD score).The nomograms for the prediction of EAD and EAD type B had good discrimination[concordance index(C-index)=0.712(0.666-0.758),0.707(0.641-0.773)]and calibration[Hosmer-Lemeshow(HL)P=0.384,P=0.425]in the validation cohort.An increased operative time(>6 h)was associated with increased EAD and EAD type B incidence in the high-risk group(P=0.005,P=0.020,respectively).Conclusions:EAD type B was associated with decreased graft and patient survival rates.The novel nomograms effectively predicted the incidence of EAD and EAD type B in DCD LT patients. | Kun Wang Di Lu Yuhui Liu Wangyao Li Li Zhuang Zhenyu Ma Qinfen Xie Binhua Pan Yichao Wu Junli Chen Lidan Lin Xiaowen Feng Qiang Wei Xuyong Wei Haiyang Xie Zhengxin Wang Shusen Zheng Xiao Xu | 2021 | Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2021,10,1: | 4 |
| 6 | Uptake of oxidative stress-mediated extracellular vesicles by vascular endothelial cells under low magnitude shear stress显示文摘Extracellular vesicles(EVs)are increasingly used as delivery vehicles for drugs and bioactive molecules,which usually require intravascular administration.The endothelial cells covering the inner surface of blood vessels are susceptible to the shear stress of blood flow.Few studies demonstrate the interplay of red blood cell-derived EVs(RBCEVs)and endothelial cells.Thus,the phagocytosis of EVs by vascular endothelial cells during blood flow needs to be elucidated.In this study,red blood cell-derived extracellular vesicles(RBCEVs)were constructed to investigate endothelial cell phagocytosis in vitro and animal models.Results showed that low magnitude shear stress including low shear stress(LSS)and oscillatory shear stress(OSS)could promote the uptake of RBCEVs by endothelial cells in vitro.In addition,in zebrafish and mouse models,RBCEVs tend to be internalized by endothelial cells under LSS or OSS.Moreover,RBCEVs are easily engulfed by endothelial cells in atherosclerotic plaques exposed to LSS or OSS.In terms of mechanism,oxidative stress induced by LSS is part of the reason for the increased uptake of endothelial cells.Overall,this study shows that vascular endothelial cells can easily engulf EVs in areas of low magnitude shear stress,which will provide a theoretical basis for the development and utilization of EVs-based nano-drug delivery systems in vivo. | Xian Qin Kun Zhang Juhui Qiu Nan Wang Kai Qu Yuliang Cui Junli Huang Li Luo Yuan Zhong Tian Tian Wei Wu Yi Wang Guixue Wang | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,3: | 3 |

| 10 | Controlling Factors on Organic Matter Accumulation of Marine Shale across the Ordovician–Silurian Transition in South China: Constraints from Trace-Element Geochemistry显示文摘In recent years,significant progress in shale gas exploration has been achieved in the Upper Ordovician(Wufeng Formation)–Lower Silurian(Longmaxi Formation)shales in the Upper Yangtze area,South China.Although many studies have been carried out on the Upper Ordovician–Lower Silurian shales,the controlling factors causing organic matter accumulation of these shales remain controversial.This study uses trace-element geochemistry and sedimentological methods to evaluate terrigenous input,redox conditions and primary productivity to explore the mechanisms of organic matter accumulation.The variation of terrigenous fraction elements(Al,Th and Sc)concentrations reflect a mixed influence of sea-level change and weathering.The sea-level of the Upper Yangtze Sea went through two cycles of transgression to regression during the Ordovician–Silurian transition.The Linxiang Formation,Kuanyinchiao Bed and the upper part of Longmaxi Formation developed during the periods of regression,whereas the Wufeng Formation and the lower part of the Longmaxi Formation developed during the periods of transgression.The paleo-productivity indexes of TOC content,ratios of Ba/Al and P/Al,and redox conditions proxies of Mo concentration,ratios of U/Th and V/Cr generally display similar variation patterns with respect to the sea-level changes.High TOC contents and Ba/Al and P/Al ratios indicate the paleo-productivity was high on the sea surface,as shown by relatively good positive correlations between Th vs.TOC,and Sc vs.TOC.This indicates that the paleo-productivity was controlled by the nutrients input through weathering.The good positive correlations between redox conditions indexes(U/Th and V/Cr ratios)with TOC content reflects reductive preservation conditions(anoxic to euxinic),thus implying they were an important controlling factor for organic matter accumulation.Nevertheless,redox conditions were closely associated with sea level change and organic matter decomposition.Therefore,the sea-level change and weathering were the primary controlling factors for organic matter enrichment across the Ordovician to Silurian transition. | Zhen Qiu Huifei Tao Bin Lu Zhenhong Chen Songtao Wu Hanlin Liu Junli Qiu | 2021 | Journal of Earth Science2021,32,4: | 2 |

| 12 | Structural variation and parallel evolution of apomixis in citrus during domestication and diversification显示文摘Apomixis,or asexual seed formation,is prevalent in Citrinae via a mechanism termed nucellar or adventitious embryony.Here,multiple embryos of a maternal genotype form directly from nucellar cells in the ovule and can outcompete the developing zygotic embryo as they utilize the sexually derived endosperm for growth.Whilst nucellar embryony enables the propagation of clonal plants of maternal genetic constitution,it is also a barrier to effective breeding through hybridization.To address the genetics and evolution of apomixis in Citrinae,a chromosome-level genome of the Hongkong kumquat(Fortunella hindsii)was assembled following a genome-wide variation map including structural variants(SVs)based on 234 Citrinae accessions.This map revealed that hybrid citrus cultivars shelter genome-wide deleterious mutations and SVs into heterozygous states free from recessive selection,which may explain the capability of nucellar embryony in most cultivars during Citrinae diversification.Analyses revealed that parallel evolution may explain the repeated origin of apomixis in different genera of Citrinae.Within Fortunella,we found that apomixis of some varieties originated via introgression.In apomictic Fortunella,the locus associated with apomixis contains the FhRWP gene,encoding an RWP-RK domain-containing protein previously shown to be required for nucellar embryogenesis in Citrus.We found the heterozygous SV in the FhRWP and CitRWP promoters from apomictic Citrus and Fortunella,due to either two or three miniature inverted transposon element(MITE)insertions.A transcription factor,FhARID,encoding an AT-rich interaction domain-containing protein binds to the MITEs in the promoter of apomictic varieties,which facilitates induction of nucellar embryogenesis.This study provides evolutionary genomic and molecular insights into apomixis in Citrinae and has potential ramifications for citrus breeding. | Nan Wang Xietian Song Junli Ye Siqi Zhang Zhen Cao Chenqiao Zhu Jianbing Hu Yin Zhou Yue Huang Shuo Cao Zhongjie Liu Xiaomeng Wu Lijun Chai Wenwu Guo Qiang Xu Brandon S.Gaut Anna M.G.Koltunow Yongfeng Zhou Xiuxin Deng | 2022 | National Science Review2022,9,10: | 1 |

| 16 | Co-Production of High-Grade Dissolving Pulp,Furfural,and Lignin from Eucalyptus via Extremely Low Acid Pretreatment and Pulping Technologies and Catalysis显示文摘Hemicellulose and lignin are not reasonably utilized during the dissolved pulp preparation process.This work aimed to propose a process for the co-production of dissolving pulp,furfural,and lignin from eucalyptus.High-grade dissolving pulp was prepared from eucalyptus using a combination of extremely low acid(ELA)pretreatment,Kraft cooking,and elementary chlorine-free(ECF)bleaching.The obtained pre-hydrolysate was catalytic conversion into furfural in a biphasic system,and lignin during Kraft cooking and ECF was recovered.The process condition was discussed as well as the mass flow direction.The results showed that ELA pretreatment could effectively remove 80.1%hemicellulose.Compared with traditional hydrothermal pretreatment,the ELA pretreatment significantly increased the xylose yield from 5.05 to 14.18 g/L at 170℃ for 2 h,which had practical significance for furfural production.The 82.7%furfural yield and 82.9%furfural selectivity were obtained from xylose-rich pre-hydrolysate using NaCl as a phase modifier in a biphasic system with 4-methyl-2-pentanone(MIBK)as an organic phase by ion exchange resin catalysts at 190℃ for 2 h.Subsequently,the pretreated eucalyptus was subjected to Kraft cooking,and the optimal alkali amount was 14%.Then,the Kraft pulp was bleached using the O-D1-EP-D_(2) sequence,and dissolving pulp was obtained with an ISO brightness of 86.0%,viscosity of 463 mL/g,andα-cellulose content of 95.4%.The Kraft lignin which has a potential application was investigated by 2D-HSQC NMR and 31P NMR.The results showed that the S/G ratio of Kraft lignin was 1.93,and the content of phenolic hydroxyl groups was 2.53 mmol/g.Moreover,based on the above proposed process,30.5 g dissolving pulp,5.5 g furfural,and 21.2 g lignin per 100 g eucalyptus chips(oven dry)were produced.This research will provide new catalysis and pulping technical routes for dissolving pulp,furfural,and Kraft lignin products,which are in great demand in the chemical industry. | Chengxiang Li Yue Wu Chunhui Zhang Yao Liu Qixuan Lin Junli Ren | 2023 | Journal of Renewable Materials2023,11,6: | 1 |

| 19 | Ultrasound assisted crystallization of cephalexin monohydrate:Nucleation mechanism and crystal habit control显示文摘With the high-quality requirements for cephalexin monohydrate,developing a robust and practical crystallization process to produce cephalexin monohydrate with good crystal habit,appropriate aspect ratio and high bulk density as well as suitable flowability is urgently needed.This research has explored the influence of ultrasound on crystallization of cephalexin monohydrate in terms of nucleation mechanism and crystal habit control.The results of metastable zone width and induction time measurement showed the presence of ultrasound irradiation can narrow the metastable zone and shorten induction time.Cavitation phenomena generated by ultrasound were used to qualitatively explain the mechanism of ultrasound promoting nucleation of cephalexin monohydrate.Furthermore,on the basis of classical nucleation theory and induction time data,a series of nucleation-related parameters(such as crystalliquid interfacial tension,radius of the critical nucleus and etc.)were calculated and showed a decreasing trend under ultrasound irradiation.The diffusion coefficient of the studied system was also determined to increase by 72.73%under ultrasound.The changes in these parameters have quantitatively confirmed the mechanism of ultrasound influence on the nucleation process.In further,the calculated surface entropy factor has confirmed that the growth of cephalexin monohydrate follows continuous growth mechanism under the research conditions of this work.Through the exploration of crystallization conditions,it is found that suitable ultrasonic treatment,seeding,supersaturation control and removal of fine crystals are conducive to improving the quality of cephalexin monohydrate product.Optimizing the crystallization process coupled continuous ultrasound irradiation with fine-crystal dissolution policy has achieved the controllable production of monodisperse cephalexin monohydrate crystal with good performance. | Zeren Shang Mingchen Li Baohong Hou Junli Zhang Kuo Wang Weiguo Hu Tong Deng Junbo Gong Songgu Wu | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,1: | 1 |
