| 2 | Study of atmospheric CO2 and CH4 at Longfengshan WMO/GAW regional station: The variations, trends, influence of local sources/sinks, and transport显示文摘Atmospheric CO_2 and CH_4 have been continuously measured since 2009 at Longfengshan WMO/GAW station(LFS) in China. Variations of the mole fractions, influence of long-distance transport, effects of local sources/sinks and the characteristics of synoptic scale variations have been studied based on the records from 2009 to 2013. Both the CO_2 and CH_4 mole fractions display increasing trends in the last five years, with growth rates of 3.1±0.02 ppm yr.1 for CO_2 and 8±0.04 ppb yr.1(standard error, 1-σ)for CH_4. In summer, the regional CO_2 mole fractions are apparently lower than the Marine Boundary Layer reference, with the lowest value of.13.6±0.7 ppm in July, while the CH_4 values are higher than the MBL reference, with the maximum of 139±6 ppb.From 9 to 17(Local time, LT) in summer, the atmospheric CO_2 mole fractions at 10 m a.g.l. are always lower than at 80 m, with a mean difference of.1.1±0.2 ppm, indicating that the flask sampling approach deployed may underestimate the background mole fractions in summer. In winter, anthropogenic emissions dominate the regional CO_2 and CH_4 mole fractions. Cluster analysis of backward trajectories shows that atmospheric CO_2 and CH_4 at LFS are influenced by anthropogenic emissions from the southwest(Changchun and Jilin city) all year. | 3 | Root growth in response to nitrogen supply in Chinese maize hybrids released between 1973 and 2009显示文摘Root growth has a fundamental role in nitrogen (N) use efficiency.Nevertheless,little is known about how modern breeding progress has affected root growth and its responses to N supply.The root and shoot growth of a core set of 11 representative Chinese maize (Zea mays L.) hybrids released between 1973 and 2009 were investigated under high N (4 mmol L?1,HN) and low N (0.04 mmol L?1,LN) levels in a solution culture system.Compared with LN,HN treatment decreased root dry weight (RDW),the root:shoot ratio (R/S),and the relative growth rate for root dry weight (RGRroot),but increased the total root length (TRL) and the total lateral root length (LRL).The total axial root length (ARL) per plant was reduced under HN,mostly in hybrids released before the 1990s.The number of seminal roots (SRN) was largely unaffected by different N levels.More recently released hybrids showed higher relative growth rates in the shoot under both HN and LN.However,the roots only showed increased RGR under HN treatment.Correspondingly,there was a positive linear relationship with the year of hybrid release for TRL,LRL and ARL under HN treatment.Together,these results suggest that while shoot growth of maize has improved,its root growth has only improved under high N conditions over the last 36 years of selective breeding in China.Improving root growth under LN conditions may be necessary to increase the N use efficiency of maize. | WU QiuPing CHEN FanJun CHEN YanLing YUAN LiXing ZHANG FuSuo MI GuoHua | 2011 | Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,7: | 15 |
| 4 | Effect of stimulating acupoint Guanyuan(CV 4) on lower back pain by burning moxa heat for different time lengths: a randomized controlled clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of different heat-stimulating time lengths on lower back pain.METHODS: Forty participants were randomly assigned to four groups of various heating time lengths. The short heating time length group(SL),moderate heating time length group(ML), and long heating time length group(LL) respectively received 15, 30, and 60 min of moxibustion therapy stimulating the acupoint Guanyuan(CV 4). The conventional acupuncture group(CA) received needle acupuncture treatment as a control group. The participants were treated continuously over a 2-week treatment period for a total of 10 sessions, with five sessions given per week. Participants were assessed weekly by blinded assessors, using the visual analogue scale(VAS) and Roland Morris Questionnaire(RMQ).RESULTS: The VAS and RMQ scores reduced in all four groups during treatment. There were significant differences in VAS scores(P < 0.01) and RMQ scores(P < 0.01) between before treatment and after 2 weeks of treatment in the LL group. | 9 | Warming moxibustion attenuates inflammation and cartilage degradation in experimental rabbit knee osteoarthritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore the molecular mechanism of warming moxibustion(WM)in knee osteoarthritis(KOA).METHODS:The knee joints of 40 New Zealand rabbits were placed in a plaster cast in an extended position to establish a KOA model.The animals were randomly divided into four groups:the control group,model group,WM group,and diclofenac(DF)group.Hematoxylin-eosin staining and the modified Mankin score were applied to evaluate the histopathological changes.Chondrocyte apoptosis was determined by the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling(TUNEL)assay.Western blotting and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction were performed to measure the expression of interleukin-1β(IL-1β),prostaglandin E receptor 3(PTGER3),a disintegrin-like and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin type-1 motifs-5(ADAMTS-5),matrix metalloproteinase-13(MMP-13),and C-terminal telopeptides of collagen typeⅡ(CTX-Ⅱ)in cartilage tissues of the different groups.The concentrations of IL-1β,PTGER3,and CTX-Ⅱin serum were detected by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS:Rabbits with KOA in the WM and DF groups showed significantly reduced cartilage erosion and Mankin scores,compared with the untreated rabbits.The number of TUNEL-positive cells observed in the WM group was much fewer than that in the model group.The expression of PTGER3,MMP-13,CTX-Ⅱ,IL-1β,and ADAMTS-5 in cartilage tissues was remarkably downregulated following therapy with WM and DF.Moreover,a marked reduction was observed in the serum levels of IL-1β,PTGER3,and CTX-Ⅱin the WM and DF groups.CONCLUSION:WM exerts favorable therapeutic effects on articular injuries of KOA by regulating the expression of inflammatory and cartilage degradation-related cytokines. | LIU Di WU Yongli LI Chun WANG Minglei MA Xiaoxiu LIU Junwei ZHANG Yanling YANG Lei | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,6: | 9 |

| 12 | Jiaweisinisan facilitates neurogenesis in the hippocampus after stress damage显示文摘The traditional Chinese medicine Jiaweisinisan has antidepressant effects, and can inhibit hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal gland axis hyperactivity in stress-induced depression. In this study, rat hippocampal neural precursor cells were cultured in serum-free medium in vitro and a stress damage model was established with 120 μM corticosterone. Cells were treated with 10% (v/v) Jiaweisinisan drug-containing serum and the corticosterone antagonist RU38486. Results of the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-3,5-di-phenytetrazoliumromide assay showed that both Jiaweisinisan drug-containing serum and RU38486 promoted the proliferation of neural precursor cells after corticosterone exposure. Immunofluorescence detection showed that after Jiaweisinisan drug-containing serum and RU38486 treatment, the 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine/terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling ratio in hippocampal neural precursor cells significantly increased, and the apoptotic rates of glial cells reduced, and neuron-like cell differentiation from neural precursor cells significantly increased. | 17 | Thrombolysis with alteplase 3-4.5 hours after acute ischaemic stroke:the first multicentre,phase III trial in China显示文摘background and purpose Data on the efficacy and safety of alteplase for acute ischaemic stroke(AIS)administered 3-4.5 hours after the onset of stroke symptoms in Chinese patients is limited.We sought to determine whether AIS patients would benefit from thrombolysis with alteplase between 3 and 4.5 hours after the onset of stroke symptoms in a prospective,multicentre,single-arm trial in China.Materials and methods Eligible AIS patients were given 0.9 mg/kg alteplase intravenously.The primary efficacy endpoint was a favourable outcome at 3 months,defined as a score of 0 or 1 on the modified Rankin Scale.Thresholds for the primary efficacy endpoint were determined to be 40%based on the literature review.The primary safety endpoint was symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage(sICH)according to the European Cooperative Acute Stroke Study III(ECASS III)trial definition.Post hoc analysis between this study and the ECASS III trial were compared using the propensity score matching(PSM)method.results A total of 120 eligible AIS patients from 11 sites in China received thrombolysis therapy in this study.The median time from onset of symptoms to needle was 3 hours 54 min.The percentage of patients with a favourable outcome was 63.3%(95%CI 54.4 to 71.4),significantly higher than the predefined threshold(p<0.0001).Three patients(2.5%,95%CI 0.5 to 7.1)had sICH,including two fatal sICH.Six patients died within 3 months after treatment.The post hoc PSM analysis showed a numerically higher rate of the primary efficacy endpoint in this study(63.3%)than the matched placebo arm(56.7%)in the ECASS III trial.Conclusions Intravenous alteplase with a standard dose administered between 3 and 4.5 hours after onset of symptoms is effective and safe for Chinese AIS patients. | Huaguang Zheng Yi Yang Huisheng Chen Chuanling Li Yangkun Chen Fu-Dong Shi Li Yang Xiaoping Cui Zuneng Lu Yanling Liang Songbiao Cui Anding Xu Yiqing Wu Yaqing Sun Yongjun Wang | 2020 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,3: | 4 |

| 19 | Chemical weathering and CO_2 consumption of a high-erosion-rate karstic river: a case study of the Sanchahe River, southwest China显示文摘The Sanchahe River in southwest China is a tributary of the Wujiang River and experiences high erosion rates. Geochemical analysis was conducted on Sanchahe River basin samples collected in the wet and dry seasons of 2014 in order to better understand local chemical weathering processes, anthropogenic influences, and associated CO2 consumption. The samples' total dissolved solid concentrations were found to be significantly higher than that of the global river average. Ca2+was the dominant cation in the samples and accounted for 64 % and73 % of the total cations in the dry and wet seasons,respectively. HCO3-and SO42-were the dominant anions,accounting for 92 % of the total anions. Stoichiometry analyses of the river waters suggested that the water chemistry is controlled by carbonate dissolution by both carbonic and sulfuric acid. | 20 | Flow synthesis of a novel zirconium-based UiO-66 nanofiltration membrane and its performance in the removal of p-nitrophenol from water显示文摘In this work,a thin zirconium-based UiO-66 membrane was successfully prepared on an alumina hollow fiber tube by flow synthesis,and was used in an attempt to remove p-nitrophenol from water through a nanofiltration process.Two main factors,including flow rate and synthesis time,were investigated to optimize the conditions for membrane growth.Under optimal synthesis conditions,a thin UiO-66 membrane of approximately 2 um in thickness was fabricated at a flow rate of4 mL.h for 30 h.The p-nitrophenol rejection rate for the as-prepared UiO-66 membrane applied in the removal of p-nitrophenol from water was only 78.1%due to the existence of membrane defects caused by coordinative defects during membrane formation.Post-synthetic modification of the UiO-66 membrane was carried out using organic linkers with the same flow approach to further improve the nanofiltration performance.The result showed that the p-nitrophenol rejection for the post-modified membrane was greatly improved and reached over 95%.Moreover,the post-modified UiO-66 membrane exhibited remarkable long-term operational stability,which is vital for practical application. | Feichao Wu Yanling Wang Xiongfu Zhang | 2020 | Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2020,14,4: | 4 |
