1Controlling cyanobacterial blooms by managing nutrient ratio and limitation in a large hypereutrophic lake: Lake Taihu, China显示文摘Excessive nitrogen(N) and phosphorus(P) loading of aquatic ecosystems is a leading cause of eutrophication and harmful algal blooms worldwide, and reducing nutrient levels in water has been a primary management objective. To provide a rational protection strategy and predict future trends of eutrophication in eutrophic lakes, we need to understand the relationships between nutrient ratios and nutrient limitations. We conducted a set of outdoor bioassays at the shore of Lake Taihu. It showed that N only additions induced phytoplankton growth but adding only P did not. Combined N plus P additions promoted higher phytoplankton biomass than N only additions, which suggested that both N and P were deficient for maximum phytoplankton growth in this lake(TN:TP = 18.9). When nutrients are present at less than 7.75–13.95 mg/L TN and 0.41–0.74 mg/L TP, the deficiency of either N or P or both limits the growth of phytoplankton. N limitation then takes place when the TN:TP ratio is less than 21.5–24.7(TDN:TDP was 34.2–44.3), and P limitation occurs above this. Therefore, according to this ratio, controlling N when N limitation exists and controlling P when P deficiency is present will prevent algal blooms effectively in the short term. 2Impact of meteorological conditions on a nine-day particulate matter pollution event observed in December 2013,Shanghai,China显示文摘A severe particulate matter pollution event occurred in Shanghai from 1 to 9 December 2013.The mean hourly mass concentrations of PM_(2.5) and PM_(10) were 211.9 and 249.0 μg/m^3,respectively.Reanalysis data,in situ,and remote-sensing measurements were used to examine the impacts of meteorological conditions on this event.It was found that the synoptic pattern of weak pressure,the reduced planetary boundary layer height,and the passage of two cold fronts were key factors causing the event.Four stages were identified during this event based on the evolution of its PM_(2.5) levels and weather conditions.The highest concentration of PM2.5(602 μg/m^3) was observed in stage 3.High PM2.5 concentrations were closely associated with a low local ventilation index,with an average of 505m^2/s,as well as with the influx of pollutants from upstream,transported by the cold fronts.Jianming Xu Fengxia Yan Ying Xie Fengyun Wang Jianbin Wu Qingyan Fu 2015Particuology2015,13,3:17
3Application of next-generation sequencing technology to precision medicine in cancer: joint consensus of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology显示文摘Next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology is capable of sequencing millions or billions of DNA molecules simultaneously.Therefore, it represents a promising tool for the analysis of molecular targets for the initial diagnosis of disease, monitoring of disease progression, and identifying the mechanism of drug resistance. On behalf of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology(CSCO) and the China Actionable Genome Consortium(CAGC), the present expert group hereby proposes advisory guidelines on clinical applications of NGS technology for the analysis of cancer driver genes for precision cancer therapy. This group comprises an assembly of laboratory cancer geneticists, clinical oncologists, bioinformaticians,pathologists, and other professionals. After multiple rounds of discussions and revisions, the expert group has reached a preliminary consensus on the need of NGS in clinical diagnosis, its regulation, and compliance standards in clinical sample collection. 8Fractional Fourier domain hopped communication method based on chirp modulation for underwater acoustic channels显示文摘To improve the data rate of underwater acoustic frequency-hopped communications, frequency hopping is applied to different orders of fractional Fourier domain(Fr FD), to enable non-intrusive, bandwidth-limited acoustic communications.An Fr FD frequency-hopped communication method based on chirp modulation, namely multiple chirp shift keying-Fr FD hopping(MCSK-Fr FDH), is proposed for underwater acoustic channels. Validated by both simulations and experimental results, this method can reach a bandwidth efficiency twice more than conventional frequency-hopped methods with the same data rate and anti-multipath capability, suggesting that the proposed method achieves a better performance than the traditional frequencyhopped communication in underwater acoustic communication channels. 9EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON HIGH-SPEED CHARACTERISTICS OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINE OIL-PUMP CHAIN显示文摘The high-speed multi-cycle impact and speed, load fluctuant characteristics of a kind of narrow-width automotive engine oil-pump chain 06BN-1 are studied through engine assembly and road-drive tests to satisfy the light-weight demand of engine. The worn surface morphologies of rubbing area between pin, bush and roller are also analyzed based on scanning electron microscope. The results show that the main wear mechanism of automotive engine oil-pump chain is fatigue wear, and it's failure mechanism is the forming, extending and flaking of cracks on top layer of pin and bush. Pin and bush both occurred cycle-soften phenomenon, and roller occurred cycle-harden. Fretting wear is one of the most important 'fall to pieces' failure causes of automotive chain. 10Reinforcement effect of fiber and deoiled asphalt on high viscosity rubber/SBS modified asphalt mortar显示文摘In this paper we investigate the reinforcement mechanism of high viscosity rubber/SBS modified asphalt mortar mixed with fiber(mineral, lignin or carbon fiber) and deoiled asphalt(DOA). The softening point, penetration and viscosity tests were conducted to characterize the engineering properties of asphalt-fiber mortar. The microstructure of fiber was observed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and the results indicated that fiber can effectively improve the toughness of asphalt matrix through forming a spatial network structure, and then adhesion and stabilization of asphalt binder. The cone penetration test was designed to study the rheological property of fiber modified asphalt. The results indicated that the reinforcement effect increased with fibers and DOA fraction increasing to a certain threshold, and the optimal fiber content was dependent on the fiber type and its length. 11Controllable hydrothermal synthesis of nanocrystal TiO_2 particles and their use in dye-sensitized solar cells显示文摘A simple method for the controllable hydrothermal synthesis of nanocrystalline anatase TiO2(nc-TiO2) particles involving the selection of suitable organic alkali peptizing agents is reported.A dye-sensitized solar cell(DSSC) with square-like nc-TiO2 particles with side lengths about 8-13 nm-prepared using tetraethylammonium hydroxide(TEAOH)-in the photoelectrode showed higher photovoltaic performance than two other DSSCs with square-like nc-TiO2 particles with side lengths about 7-10 nm-prepared using tetrabutylammonium hydroxide-or elongated nc-TiO2 particles with lengths about 18-35 nm and width about 10 18 nm-prepared using tetramethylammonium hydroxide(TMAOH)-in the photoelectrodes.When a scattering layer prepared from sub-micron size spheres or cone-like nc-TiO2 particles-synthesized using a higher concentration of TMAOH-was added on top of the photoelectrode fabricated from nc-TiO2 synthesized with TEAOH,the energy conversion efficiency of the DSSC was markedly increased from 6.77% to 8.18%.LAN Zhang WU JiHuai LIN JianMing HUANG MiaoLiang 2012Science China Chemistry2012,55,7:7
12Application of upconversion luminescence in dye-sensitized solar cells显示文摘An upconversion luminescence powder TiO2:(Er3+,Yb3+) is prepared by a hydrothermal method and used to fabricate dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC).The TiO2:(Er3+,Yb3+) powder undergoes upconversion luminescence,converting infrared light which the dye can not absorb into visible light with wavelengths of 510-700 nm which the dye can absorb,increasing the photocurrent of the DSSC.TiO2:(Er3+,Yb3+) also acts as a p-type dopant,heightening the Fermi level of the oxide film,which increases the photovoltage of the DSSC.The best performance of the DSSC is found when the ratio of TiO2/luminescence powder is 1/3 in the luminescence layer.Under simulated solar irradiation of 100 mW cm-2 (AM 1.5),the DSSC containing TiO2:(Er3+,Yb3+) doping achieves a light-to-electricity energy conversion efficiency of 7.28% compared with 6.41% for the undoped DSSC.XIE GuiXiang LIN JianMing WU JiHuai LAN Zhang LI QingHua XIAO YaoMing YUE GenTian YUE HaiFeng HUANG MiaoLiang 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,1:6
13Pertuzumab in combination with trastuzumab and chemotherapy for Chinese patients with HER2-positive metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer:a subpopulation analysis of the JACOB trial显示文摘Background:The JACOB trial(NCT01774786)was a double-blinded,placebo-controlled,randomized,multicenter,international,phase III trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of adding pertuzumab to trastuzumab and chemo-therapy in first-line treatment of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-positive metastatic gastric cancer/gastroesophageal junction cancer(GEJC).The aim of this analysis was to investigate efficacy and safety outcomes in the Chinese subpopulation from the JACOB trial.Methods:This post hoc subpopulation analysis included all patients recruited in China's Mainland(n=163;20.9%)between June 2013 and January 2016.The patients were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to receive pertuzumab plus trastuzumab and chemotherapy(pertuzumab group;n=82)or placebo plus trastuzumab and chemotherapy(con-trol group;n=81).Intravenous pertuzumab(840 mg)and trastuzumab(8 mg/kg loading and 6 mg/kg maintenance doses)were given every 3 weeks until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.Chemotherapy was given as per standard regimens/doses of capecitabine or 5-fluorouracil plus cisplatin.The primary endpoint was overall survival(OS);secondary efficacy endpoints included progression-free survival(PFS),and overall objective response rate(ORR).Results:The median OS was 18.7 months in the pertuzumab group and 16.1 months in the control group(hazard ratio[HR]0.75;95%confidence interval[CI]0.49 to 1.14).The median PFS was 10.5 and 8.6 months in the pertuzumab and control groups,respectively(HR 0.85;95%CI 0.60 to 1.21),and the median ORRs were 68.9%and 55.7%,respectively.The treatment effect in this Chinese subpopulation showed consistency with that in the global ITT population with numerically lower HR for OS and PFS compared with the control group.The safety profiles of the pertuzumab and control groups in this Chinese subpopulation analysis were generally comparable.The most common grade 3-5adverse events were neutropenia,anemia,and leukopenia.However,due to the nature of being a post hoc subgroup analysis,the results presented here are descriptive only and need to be interpreted with caution.Conclusions:OS and PFS were numerically improved by adding pertuzumab to trastuzumab and chemotherapy as first-line treatment in Chinese HER2-positive gastric cancer/GEJC patients,and this regimen demonstrated an acceptable safety profile.Tianshu Liu Yanru Qin Jin Li Ruihua Xu Jianming Xu Shujun Yang Shukui Qin Yuxian Bai Changping Wu Yixiang Mao Haiyan Wu Yilin Ge Lin Shen 2019Cancer Communications2019,39,1:6

15Elevated plasma levels of selective cytokines in COVID-19 patients reflect viral load and lung injury显示文摘A recent outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan,China was found to be caused by a 2019 novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV or SARS-CoV-2 or HCoV-19).We previously reported the clinical features of 12 patients with2019-n Co V infections in Shenzhen,China.To further understand the pathogenesis of COVID-19 and find better ways to monitor and treat the disease caused by 2019-n Co V,we measured the levels of 48 cytokines in the blood plasma of those 12 COVID-19 patients.Thirty-eight out of the 48 measured cytokines in the plasma of 2019-n Co V-infected patients were significantly elevated compared to healthy individuals.Seventeen cytokines were linked to 2019-nCoV loads.Fifteen cytokines,namely M-CSF,IL-10,IFN-α2,IL-17,IL-4,IP-10,IL-7,IL-1 ra,G-CSF,IL-12,IFN-γ,IL-1α,IL-2,HGF and PDGF-BB,were strongly associated with the lung-injury Murray score and could be used to predict the disease severity of2019-n Co V infections by calculating the area under the curve of the receiver-operating characteristics.Our results suggest that 2019-nCoV infections trigger extensive changes in a wide array of cytokines,some of which could be potential biomarkers of disease severity of 2019-n Co V infections.These findings will likely improve our understanding of the immunopathologic mechanisms of this emerging disease.Our results also suggest that modulators of cytokine responses may play a therapeutic role in combating the disease once the functions of these elevated cytokines have been characterized.Yingxia Liu Cong Zhang Fengming Huang Yang Yang Fuxiang Wang Jing Yuan Zheng Zhang Yuhao Qin Xiaoyun Li Dandan Zhao Shunwang Li Shuguang Tan Zhaoqin Wang Jinxiu Li Chenguang Shen Jianming Li Ling Peng Weibo Wu Mengli Cao Li Xing Zhixiang Xu Li Chen Congzhao Zhou William J Liu Lei Liu Chengyu Jiang 2020National Science Review2020,7,6:6

17Design and simulation of self-powered radio frequency identification (RFID) tags for mobile temperature monitoring显示文摘This paper presents a design for a self-powered radio frequency identification (RFID) tag with a thin film bulk acoustic reso- nating piezoelectric power supply (PPS), which can be used for portable remote temperature monitoring. We call this system a PPS-RFID for short. The RFID systems have been found to have many applications in the internet of things (IOT) in the past decade. But semi-active RFID tags require an onboard battery which limits their applications in many fields. For these reasons, our research focuses on power sources for the RFID tags. This paper emphasizes the circuit design and simulation of PPS. In our tests, 0.283 mW was generated by PPS at 1 Hz vibration by a 650 N impact force. The results showed that the integrated PPS could supply sufficient power for the designed PPS-RFID tag. 18Clinicopathological features and surgical outcomes of four rare subtypes of primary liver carcinoma显示文摘Objective:This study aimed to analyze clinicopathological and prognostic features of four rare pathological subtypes of primary liver malignancies to make better understanding of their clinical features.Methods:The clinicopathological data of 114 patients who were diagnosed with histologically proven four subtypes:clear cell carcinoma(CCC),giant cell carcinoma(GCC),sarcomatoid carcinoma(SC),and combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma(CHC)between October 1998 and August 2015 were reviewed.Their survival data were compared with those of 908 patients with histologically proven common hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)(early-and advanced-stage HCC)during the same period.Results:The outcome of the CCC group was better than that of the other three subgroups,and was similar to that of the early-stage HCC group.Also,the smallest tumor size and the highest incidence of pseudocapsule formation were observed in the CCC group.The SC group had the worst outcome among these four subgroups;the prognosis was much poorer than that of any other subgroups,even poorer than that of the advanced-stage common HCC group.No statistical difference was observed between the GCC,CHC and advanced-stage HCC groups on survival analysis.The incidences of tumor vascular emboli,TNM staging and non-radical resection were three risk factors of the prognosis.Conclusions:CCC is a low-degree malignancy and relatively favorably prognostic subtype of HCC.However,GCC,SC,and CHC are three rare high-degree malignancy subtypes of HCC with poor prognosis.Zhiyu Li Xiaolong Wu Xinyu Bi Yefan Zhang Zhen Huang Haizhen Lu Hong Zhao Jianjun Zhao Jianguo Zhou Muxing Li Jianming Ying Jianqiang Cai 2018Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,3:6
19Phosphorus utilization and microbial community in response to lead/iron addition to a waterlogged soil显示文摘Constructed wetlands have emerged as a viable option for helping to solve a wide range of water quality problems. However, heavy metals adsorbed by substrates would decrease the growth of plants, impair the functions of wetlands and eventually result in a failure of contaminant removal. Typha latifolia L., tolerant to heavy metals, has been widely used for phytoremediation of Pb/Zn mine tailings under waterlogged conditions. This study examined effects of iron as ferrous sulfate (100 and 500 mg/kg) and lead as lead nitrate (0, 100, 500 and 1000 mg/kg) on phosphorus utilization and microbial community structure in a constructed wetland. Wetland plants (T. latifolia) were grown for 8 weeks in rhizobags filled with a paddy soil under waterlogged conditions. The results showed that both the amount of iron plaque on the roots and phosphorus adsorbed on the plaque decreased with the amount of lead addition. When the ratio of added iron to lead was 1:1, phosphorus utilized by plants was the maximum. Total amount of phospholipids fatty acids (PLFAs) was 23%–59% higher in the rhizosphere soil than in bulk soil. The relative abundance of Gram-negative bacteria, aerobic bacteria, and methane oxidizing bacteria was also higher in the rhizosphere soil than in bulk soil, but opposite was observed for other bacteria and fungi. 20Preparation of Gd_2O_3:Eu^(3+) downconversion luminescent material and its application in dye-sensitized solar cells显示文摘Gd_2O_3 :Eu^(3+) downconversion luminescent powder was prepared using the homogeneous precipitation method. Its optical properties were analyzed and it was introduced into a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). As a luminescence medium, Gd_2O_3 :Eu^(3+) improved light harvesting via conversion luminescence and increased the photocurrent of the DSSC. As a p-type dopant insulating rare earth oxides form an energy barrier, and the Gd_2O_3 :Eu^(3+) elevated the energy level of the oxide film and increased the photovoltage.
