| 3 | Prostate cancer identification: quantitative analysis of T2-weighted MR images based on a back propagation artificial neural network model显示文摘Computer-aided diagnosis(CAD) systems have been proposed to assist radiologists in making diagnostic decisions by providing helpful information. As one of the most important sequences in prostate magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), image features from T2-weighted images(T2WI) were extracted and evaluated for the diagnostic performances by using CAD. We extracted 12 quantitative image features from prostate T2-weighted MR images. The importance of each feature in cancer identification was compared in the peripheral zone(PZ) and central gland(CG), respectively. The performance of the computer-aided diagnosis system supported by an artificial neural network was tested. With computer-aided analysis of T2-weighted images, many characteristic features with different diagnostic capabilities can be extracted. We discovered most of the features(10/12) had significant difference(P<0.01) between PCa and non-PCa in the PZ, while only five features(sum average, minimum value, standard deviation, 10 th percentile, and entropy) had significant difference in CG. CAD prediction by features from T2 w images can reach high accuracy and specificity while maintaining acceptable sensitivity. | 5 | Chimeric antigen receptor T cell targeting EGFRvIII for metastatic lung cancer therapy显示文摘Lung cancer is the most common incident cancer and the leading cause of cancer death. In recent years, the development of tumor immunotherapy especially chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell has shown a promising future. Epidermal growth factor receptor variant III (EGFRvlll) is a tumor-specific mutation expressed in various types of tumors and has been detected in non-small cell lung cancer with a mutation rate of 10%. Thus, EGFRvIII is a potential antigen for targeted lung cancer therapy. In this study, CAR vectors were constructed and transfected into virus-packaging cells. Then, activated T cells were infected with retrovirus harvested from stable virus-producing single clone cell lines. CAR expression on the surfaces of the T cells was detected by flow cytometry and Western blot. The function of CAR-T targeting EGFRvIII was then evaluated. The EGFRvIII-CAR vector was successfully constructed and confirmed by DNA sequencing. A stable virus-producing cell line was produced from a single clone by limited dilution. The culture conditions for the cell line, including cell density, temperature, and culture medium were optimized. After infection with retrovirus, CAR was expressed on more than 90% of the T cells. The proliferation of CAR-T cells were induced by cytokine and specific antigen in vitro. More importantly, EGFRvIII-CART specifically and efficiently recognized and killed A549-EGFRvIII cells with an effector/target ratio of 10:1 by expressing and releasing cytokines, including perforin, granzyme B, IFN-γ, and TNF-α. The in vivo study indicated that the metastasis of A549-EGFRvIII cells in mice were inhibited by EGFRvIII-CART cells, and the survival of the mice was significantly prolonged with no serious side effects. EGFRvIII-CART showed significantly efficient antitumor activity against lung cancer cells expressing EGFRvlll in vivo and in vitro. | 6 | Marginal optimization method to improve the inconsistent comparison matrix in the analytic hierarchy process显示文摘To improve the inconsistency in the analytic hierarchy process(AHP), a new method based on marginal optimization theory is proposed. During the improving process, this paper regards the reduction of consistency ratio(CR) as benefit, and the maximum modification compared to the original pairwise comparison matrix(PCM) as cost, then the improvement of consistency is transformed to a benefit/cost analysis problem. According to the maximal marginal effect principle, the elements of PCM are modified by a fixed increment(or decrement) step by step till the consistency ratio becomes acceptable, which can ensure minimum adjustment to the original PCM so that the decision makers' judgment is preserved as much as possible. The correctness of the proposed method is proved mathematically by theorem. Firstly, the marginal benefit/cost ratio is calculated for each single element of the PCM when it has been modified by a fixed increment(or decrement).Then, modification to the element with the maximum marginal benefit/cost ratio is accepted. Next, the marginal benefit/cost ratio is calculated again upon the revised matrix, and followed by choosing the modification to the element with the maximum marginal benefit/cost ratio. The process of calculating marginal effect and choosing the best modified element is repeated for each revised matrix till acceptable consistency is reached, i.e., CR<0.1. | 11 | Multifractal mass exponent spectrum of complex physiological time series显示文摘Physiological signal belongs to the kind of nonstationary and time-variant ones.Thus,the nonlinear analysis methods may be better to disclose its characteristics and mechanisms.There have been plenty of evidences that physiological signal generated by complex self-regulated system may have a fractal structure.In this work,we introduce a new measure to characterize multifractality,the mass exponent spectrum curvature,which can disclose the complexity of fractal structure from total bending degree of the spectrum.This parameter represents the nonlinear superpositions of the discrepancies of fractal dimension from all adjacent points in the curve and therefore solves the problem of original parameters for not fully reflecting the information of entire subsets in the fractal structure.The evaluations of deterministic fractal system Cantor measure validate that it is completely effective in exploring the complexity of chaotic series,and is also not affected by nonstability of the signal as well as disturbances of the noises.We then apply it to the analysis of human heart rate variability(HRV) signals and sleep electroencephalogram(EEG) signals.The experimental results show that this method can be better to discriminate cohorts under different physiological and pathological conditions.Compared with the indicator of singularity spectrum width,there are some improvements both on the computing efficiency and accuracy.Such conclusion may provide some valuable information for clinical diagnoses. | YANG XiaoDong HE AiJun ZHOU Yong NING XinBao | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,19: | 7 |

A statistical wear model and a finite difference thermal contour model of work rolls were described. The comprehensive contour is the equivalence treatment of the sum of grinding, wear, and thermal contours. This comprehensive contour calculation model has been applied successfully in the real on-line strip shape control model. Its high precision has been proved through the large amounts of actual roll profile measurements and theoretical analyses. | 16 | Abundance and biomass of heterotrophic microbes in the Kongsfjorden, Svalbard显示文摘Abundance and biomass of heterotrophic microbes were investigated using epifluorescense microscopy in August 2004 along a transect in the Kongsfjorden, a glacial fjord in the high arctic, located in the north-western part of Svalbard. A bacterial abundance was low at outer fjord stations (on average 2.29×108 ind./dm3) and was higher at inner fjord stations (on average 3.52×108 ind./dm3).The biomass of bacteria ranged from 3.69 to 8.01 mg/m3.The abundance of bacteria was low at the surface of water(0 m), whereas the higher abundances often occurred at depths of 30~50 m.The abundance of heterotrophic flagellates varied from 2.785 to 8.891×104 ind./dm3.The assemblage was numerically dominated by less than 5 μm heterotrophic flagellates (78.67%~94.80%).The biomass of heterotrophic flagellates varied from 0.37 to 2.30 mg/m3.The mean biomass distribution for all stations was 4.91% for less than 5 μm heterotrophic flagellates, 86.74% for 6~20 μm flagellates and 8.35% for greater than 20 μm sized flagellates.The low biomass of heterotrophic flagellates often occurred at the surface of water(0 m),while the maximum value of biomass occurred at different depths. | 17 | Role of Microphysical Parameterizations with Droplet Relative Dispersion in IAP AGCM 4.1显示文摘Previous studies have shown that accurate descriptions of the cloud droplet effective radius(Re) and the autoconversion process of cloud droplets to raindrops(Ar) can effectively improve simulated clouds and surface precipitation, and reduce the uncertainty of aerosol indirect effects in GCMs. In this paper, we implement cloud microphysical schemes including two-moment Ar and Re considering relative dispersion of the cloud droplet size distribution into version 4.1 of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics' s atmospheric GCM(IAP AGCM 4.1), which is the atmospheric component of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Earth System Model. Analysis of the effects of different schemes shows that the newly implemented schemes can improve both the simulated shortwave and longwave cloud radiative forcings, as compared to the standard scheme, in IAP AGCM 4.1. The new schemes also effectively enhance the large-scale precipitation, especially over low latitudes, although the influences of total precipitation are insignificant for different schemes. | 18 | Evaluation of the New Dynamic Global Vegetation Model in CAS-ESM显示文摘In the past several decades, dynamic global vegetation models(DGVMs) have been the most widely used and appropriate tool at the global scale to investigate vegetation-climate interactions. At the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, a new version of DGVM(IAP-DGVM) has been developed and coupled to the Common Land Model(CoLM) within the framework of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Earth System Model(CAS-ESM). This work reports the performance of IAP-DGVM through comparisons with that of the default DGVM of CoLM(CoLM-DGVM) and observations. With respect to CoLMDGVM, IAP-DGVM simulated fewer tropical trees, more 'needleleaf evergreen boreal tree' and 'broadleaf deciduous boreal shrub', and a better representation of grasses. These contributed to a more realistic vegetation distribution in IAP-DGVM,including spatial patterns, total areas, and compositions. Moreover, IAP-DGVM also produced more accurate carbon fluxes than CoLM-DGVM when compared with observational estimates. Gross primary productivity and net primary production in IAP-DGVM were in better agreement with observations than those of CoLM-DGVM, and the tropical pattern of fire carbon emissions in IAP-DGVM was much more consistent with the observation than that in CoLM-DGVM. The leaf area index simulated by IAP-DGVM was closer to the observation than that of CoLM-DGVM; however, both simulated values about twice as large as in the observation. Considering the stochastic packet dropout occuring in two channels between the sensor and the controller, and between the controller and the actuator, networked control systems are modeled as the Markovian jump linear system with four operation modes. Based on this model, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the mean square stability of the deterministic networked control systems and uncertain networked control systems are given by using the theory of the Markovian jump linear system, and corresponding controller design procedures are proposed via the cone complementarity linearization method. | 20 | Heterogeneously integrated,superconducting silicon-photonic platform for measurementdevice-independent quantum key distribution显示文摘Integrated photonics provides a route to both miniaturization of quantum key distribution(QKD)devices and enhancing their performance.A key element for achieving discrete-variable QKD is a singlephoton detector.It is highly desirable to integrate detectors onto a photonic chip to enable the realization of practical and scalable quantum networks.We realize a heterogeneously integrated,superconducting silicon-photonic chip.Harnessing the unique high-speed feature of our optical waveguide-integrated superconducting detector,we perform the first optimal Bell-state measurement(BSM)of time-bin encoded qubits generated from two independent lasers.The optimal BSM enables an increased key rate of measurement-device-independent QKD(MDI-QKD),which is immune to all attacks against the detection system and hence provides the basis for a QKD network with untrusted relays.Together with the timemultiplexed technique,we have enhanced the sifted key rate by almost one order of magnitude.With a 125-MHz clock rate,we obtain a secure key rate of 6.166 kbps over 24.0 dB loss,which is comparable to the state-of-the-art MDI-QKD experimental results with a GHz clock rate.Combined with integrated QKD transmitters,a scalable,chip-based,and cost-effective QKD network should become realizable in the near future. | Xiaodong Zheng Peiyu Zhang Renyou Ge Liangliang Lu Guanglong He Qi Chen Fangchao Qu Labao Zhang Xinlun Cai Yanqing Lu Shining Zhu Peiheng Wu Xiao-Song Ma | 2021 | Advanced Photonics2021,3,5: | 5 |
