2Spatially defined single-cell transcriptional profiling characterizes diverse chondrocyte subtypes and nucleus pulposus progenitors in human intervertebral discs显示文摘A comprehensive understanding of the cellular heterogeneity and molecular mechanisms underlying the development,homeostasis,and disease of human intervertebral disks(IVDs)remains challenging.Here,the transcriptomic landscape of 108108 IVD cells was mapped using single-cell RNA sequencing of three main compartments from young and adult healthy IVDs,including the nucleus pulposus(NP),annulus fibrosus,and cartilage endplate(CEP).The chondrocyte subclusters were classified based on their potential regulatory,homeostatic,and effector functions in extracellular matrix(ECM)homeostasis.Notably,in the NP,a PROCR+resident progenitor population showed enriched colony-forming unit-fibroblast(CFU-F)activity and trilineage differentiation capacity.Finally,intercellular crosstalk based on signaling network analysis uncovered that the PDGF and TGF-βcascades are important cues in the NP microenvironment.In conclusion,a single-cell transcriptomic atlas that resolves spatially regulated cellular heterogeneity together with the critical signaling that underlies homeostasis will help to establish new therapeutic strategies for IVD degeneration in the clinic.Yibo Gan Jian He Jun Zhu Zhengyang Xu Zhong Wang Jing Yan Ou Hu Zhijie Bai Lin Chen Yangli Xie Min Jin Shuo Huang Bing Liu Peng Liu 2021Bone Research2021,9,3:3
3Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas Exhibit Cell Biological and Molecular Signatures of Fetal Hindbrain-Derived Neural Progenitor Cells显示文摘Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma(DIPG) is the main cause of brain tumor-related death among children.Until now, there is still a lack of effective therapy with prolonged overall survival for this disease. A typical strategy for preclinical cancer research is to find out the molecular differences between tumor tissue and para-tumor normal tissue, in order to identify potential therapeutic targets. Unfortunately, it is impossible to obtain normal tissue for DIPG because of the vital functions of the pons.Here we report the human fetal hindbrain-derived neural progenitor cells(pontine progenitor cells, PPCs) as normal control cells for DIPG. The PPCs not only harbored similar cell biological and molecular signatures as DIPG glioma stem cells, but also had the potential to be immortalized by the DIPG-specific mutation H3 K27 M in vitro. 4Seasonal Variability of Phytoplankton Community Structure in Relation to Different Nitrogen-Phosphorus Ratios in the Southern Coastal Waters of Zhejiang, China显示文摘With the rapid development of economy and increase of population in the drainage areas,the nutrient loading has increased dramatically in the Changjiang estuary and adjacent coastal waters.To properly assess the impact of nutrient enrichment on phytoplankton community,seasonal microcosm experiments were conducted during August 2010 July 2011 in the coastal waters of Zhejiang Province.The results of the present study indicated that the chl a concentration,cell abundance,diversity indices,species composition and community succession of the phytoplankton varied significantly with different N/P ratios and seasons.Higher growth was observed in the 64:1(spring),32:1(summer),16:1(autumn)and 128:1,256:1(winter)treatments,respectively.The values of Shannon-Wiener index(H′)and Pielou evenness index(J)were lower in the 8:1 and 16:1 treatments in autumn test,while H'value was higher in the 128:1 and 8:1 treatments in winter test.A definite community succession order from diatoms to dinoflagellates was observed in the autumn and winter tests,while the diatoms dominated the community throughout the culture in the spring and summer tests.HUANG Wei ZHU Xuyu CHEN Quanzhen HE Qing LIAO Yibo DU Ping ZHANG Peng ZENG Jiangning 2013Journal of Ocean University of China2013,12,4:2

7Molecular mechanisms of adaptive evolution in wild animals and plants显示文摘Wild animals and plants have developed a variety of adaptive traits driven by adaptive evolution,an important strategy for species survival and persistence.Uncovering the molecular mechanisms of adaptive evolution is the key to understanding species diversification,phenotypic convergence,and inter-species interaction.As the genome sequences of more and more non-model organisms are becoming available,the focus of studies on molecular mechanisms of adaptive evolution has shifted from the candidate gene method to genetic mapping based on genome-wide scanning.In this study,we reviewed the latest research advances in wild animals and plants,focusing on adaptive traits,convergent evolution,and coevolution.Firstly,we focused on the adaptive evolution of morphological,behavioral,and physiological traits.Secondly,we reviewed the phenotypic convergences of life history traits and responding to environmental pressures,and the underlying molecular convergence mechanisms.Thirdly,we summarized the advances of coevolution,including the four main types:mutualism,parasitism,predation and competition.Overall,these latest advances greatly increase our understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms for diverse adaptive traits and species interaction,demonstrating that the development of evolutionary biology has been greatly accelerated by multi-omics technologies.Finally,we highlighted the emerging trends and future prospects around the above three aspects of adaptive evolution.Yibo Hu Xiaoping Wang Yongchao Xu Hui Yang Zeyu Tong Ran Tian Shaohua Xu Li Yu Yalong Guo Peng Shi Shuangquan Huang Guang Yang Suhua Shi Fuwen Wei 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,3:1
8A joint call for actions to advance taxonomy in China显示文摘Taxonomy plays an important role in understanding the origin, evolution, and ecological functionality of biodiversity. There are large number of unknown species yet to be described by taxonomists, which together with their ecosystem services cannot be effectively protected prior to description. Despite this, taxonomy has been increasingly underrated insufficient funds and permanent positions to retain young talents. Further, the impact factordriven evaluation systems in China exacerbate this downward trend, so alternative evaluation metrics are urgently necessary. When the current generation of outstanding taxonomists retires,there will be too few remaining taxonomists left to train the next generation. 10Rational construction of Ag@MIL-88B(V)-derived hierarchical porous Ag-V_(2)O_(5) heterostructures with enhanced diffusion kinetics and cycling stability for aqueous zinc-ion batteries显示文摘With the advantages of the multiple oxidation states and highly open crystal structures,vanadium-based composites have been considered as the promising cathode materials for aqueous zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs).However,the inherent inferior electrical conductivity,low specific surface area,and sluggish Zn^(2+)diffusion kinetics of the traditional vanadium-based oxides have greatly impeded their development.Herein,a novel hierarchical porous spindle-shaped Ag-V_(2)O_(5) with unique heterostructures was rationally designed via a simple MOF-assisted synthetic method and applied as stable cathode for aqueous ZIBs.The high specific surface area and hierarchically porous superstructures endowed Ag-V_(2)O_(5) with sufficient electrochemical active sites and shortened the diffusion pathways of Zn^(2+),which was beneficial to accelerate the reversible transport of Zn^(2+)and deliver a high specific capacity(426 mA h g^(-1) at 0.1 A g^(-1) and 96.5%capacity retention after 100 cycles).Meanwhile,the self-built-in electric fields at the heterointerface of Ag-V_(2)O_(5) electrode could strengthen the synergistic coupling interaction between Ag and V_(2)O_(5),which can effectively enhance the electric conductivity and maintain the structural integrity,resulting in superb rate capability(326.1 mA h g^(-1) at 5.0 A g^(-1))and remarkable cycling stability(89.7%capacity retention after 2000 cycles at 5.0 A g^(-1)).Moreover,the reversible Zn^(2+)storage mechanism was further investigated and elucidated by kinetics analysis and DFT calculations.Yibo Zhang Zhihua Li Liangjun Gong Xuyu Wang Peng Hu Jun Liu 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,2:1
11Blade Segment with a 3D Lattice of Diamond Grits Fabricated via an Additive Manufacturing Process显示文摘Diamond tools with orderly arrangements of diamond grits have drawn considerable attention in the machining field owing to their outstanding advantages of high sharpness and long service life.This diamond super tool,as well as the manufacturing equipment,has been unavailable to Chinese enterprises for a long time due to patents.In this paper,a diamond blade segment with a 3D lattice of diamond grits was additively manufactured using a new type of cold pressing equipment(AME100).The equipment,designed with a rotary working platform and 16 molding stations,can be used to additively manufacture segments with diamond grits arranged in an orderly fashion,layer by layer;under this additive manufacturing process,at least 216000 pcs of diamond green segments with five orderly arranged grit layers can be produced per month.The microstructure of the segment was observed via SEM and the diamond blade fabricated using these segments was compared to other commercial cutting tools.The experimental results showed that the 3D lattice of diamond grits was formed in the green segment.The filling rate of diamond grits in the lattice could be guaranteed to be above 95%;this is much higher than the 90%filling rate of the automatic array system(ARIX).When used to cut stone,the cutting amount of the blade with segments made by AME100 is two times that of ordinary tools,with the same diamond concentration.When used to dry cut reinforced concrete,its cutting speed is 10%faster than that of ARIX.Under wet cutting conditions,its service life is twice that of ARIX.By applying the machine vision online inspection system and a special needle jig with a negative pressure system,this study developed a piece of additive manufacturing equipment for efficiently fabricating blade segments with a 3D lattice of diamond grits.Bin Chen Peng Chen Yongjun Huang Xiangxi Xu Yibo Liu Shuangxi Wang 2020Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2020,33,5:1
12Corrosion and irradiation behavior of Fe-based amorphous coating in lead-bismuth eutectic liquids显示文摘Lead-bismuth eutectics (LBE) have considerable potential as a candidate material for accelerator-driven sub-critical systems(ADS).However,LBE corrosion and irradiation damage are two urgent challenges remaining to be solved for impellers of primary pumps.In this study,we have explored the possibility of using Fe-based amorphous coatings to overcome LBE corrosion and concurrently to sustain irradiation damage.Specifically,the Fe_(54)Cr_(18)Mo_(2)Zr_(8)B_(18)amorphous coating was prepared by high-velocity oxygen-fuel (HVOF) spraying on 316L steel and exposed to saturated oxygen static LBE for 500 h at 400℃.The coating with high thermal stability (T_(g)=615℃ and T_(x)=660℃) effectively prevented the substrate steel from being corroded by LBE owing to its unique long-range disordered atomic packing.The coating also exhibited strong irradiation resistance when being subjected to 45 dpa (displacement per atom) Au ion irradiation at room temperature,with no sign of crystallization even at the maximum implantation depth of 300 nm.Consequently,the hardness of the coatings before and after irradiation increased slightly.The current findings shed new insights into understanding corrosion mechanism and irradiation behavior of amorphous solids in LBE and expand the application range of amorphous materials.LU ZhiChao PENG Xiang Yang TANG YuHai HAN ShuYin WU Yuan FU EnGang DING XiangBin HOU Shuo LU GuangYao CAO PeiPei ZHANG YiBo LIU XiongJun MA Dong WANG Hui JIANG SuiHe LU ZhaoPing 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,2:1
13Enhanced hydrothermal stability of Cu-SAPO-34 with an ultrathin TiO_(2)coated by atomic layer deposition for NH3-SCR显示文摘Reducing pollution and carbon emissions is an important step toward peaking CO_(2)emissions before 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality before 2060,and heavy diesel vehicle pollution,particularly nitrogen oxides(NOx)emissions,is an essential part.CuSAPO-34 is a CHA-type small pore molecular sieve with excellent ammonia(NH_(3))selective catalytic reduction(NH_(3)-SCR)catalytic activity,but it cannot be stored or applied because of severe degradation caused by low-temperature hydrothermal aging.To improve the hydrothermal stability,TiO_(2)was coated on the surface of Cu-SAPO-34 by the ALD method to form a uniform nanolayer.Though this ultrathin TiO_(2)nanolayer has little effect on NH_(3)-SCR catalytic activity of Cu-SAPO-34,the resistance to low-temperature hydrothermal aging in liquid water at 80℃for 24 h has greatly been improved.A study carried out by SEM,XRD,NH_(3)-TPD,and EPR,showed that the ultra-thin TiO_(2)nanolayers were covered uniformly and hydrolysis of frameworks silicon and the migration of Cu^(2+)was retarded.This method has some implications for the future preparation of highly robust Cu-SAPO-34 catalysts for industrial applications.This research could inspire the development of highly robust CuSAPO-34 catalysts to control the NOx emissions from diesel engines.TIAN HeYuan XI WenChang ZHANG YiBo SUN LiWei LIU Peng WU Fan YANG Guo GUO Feng YANG XiangGuang 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,10:1

15Carbon nanocages bridged with graphene enable fast kinetics for dual-carbon lithium-ion capacitors显示文摘Lithium-ion capacitors(LICs) combining the advantages of lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors are considered a promising nextgeneration energy storage device. However, the sluggish kinetics of battery-type anode cannot match the capacitor-type cathode, restricting the development of LICs. Herein, hierarchical carbon framework(HCF) anode material composed of 0D carbon nanocage bridged with 2D graphene network are developed via a template-confined synthesis process. The HCF with nanocage structure reduces the Li^(+) transport path and benefits the rapid Li^(+) migration, while 2D graphene network can promote the electron interconnecting of carbon nanocages. In addition, the doped N atoms in HCF facilitate to the adsorption of ions and enhance the pseudo contribution, thus accelerate the kinetics of the anode. The HCF anode delivers high specific capacity, remarkable rate capability. The LIC pouch-cell based on HCF anode and active HCF(a-HCF) cathode can provide a high energy density of 162 Wh kg^(-1) and a superior power density of 15.8 kW kg^(-1), as well as a long cycling life exceeding 15,000cycles. 16Ultrafast flash memory with large self-rectifying ratio based on atomically thin MoS_(2)-channel transistor显示文摘Flash memory with high operation speed and stable retention performance is in great demand to meet the requirements of big data.In addition,the realisation of ultrafast flash memory with novel functions offers a means of combining heterogeneous components into a homogeneous device without considering impedance matching.This report proposes a 20 ns programme flash memory with 10^(8) self-rectifying ratios based on a 0.65 nm-thick MoS_(2)-channel transistor.A high-quality van der Waals heterojunction with a sharp interface is formed between the Cr/Au metal floating layer and h-BN tunnelling layer.In addition,the large rectification ratio and low ideality factor(n=1.13)facilitate the application of the MoS_(2)-channel flash memory as a bit-line select transistor.Finally,owing to the ultralow MoS_(2)/h-BN heterojunction capacitance(50 fF),the memory device exhibits superior performance as a high-frequency(up to 1 MHz)sine signal rectifier.These results pave the way toward the potential utilisation of multifunctional memory devices in ultrafast two-dimensional NAND-flash applications.Liwei Liu Yibo Sun Xiaohe Huang Chunsen Liu Zhaowu Tang Senfeng Zeng David Wei Zhang Shaozhi Deng Peng Zhou 2022Materials Futures2022,1,2:0

18The Safe Distance Between Road Lighting Fixtures and Street Trees显示文摘The road lighting system and the road greening system, which are mutually interrelated and independent, are two important parts in the urban road environment. Unreasonable road lighting is easy to induce light pollution and has a great negative impact on the physiology and growth of garden plants in the urban green space. In this paper, 21 kinds of common tree species in the urban green space of Zhengzhou were selected as the research object, and the photosynthetic physiological parameters of landscape trees under the LED light source were observed using LI-6400 Photosynthesis System. This paper attempted to find the critical point for initiating photosynthesis of different types of tree species under a certain light source and then calculated the safe distance between lighting fixtures and landscape trees. The results showed that road lighting interfered with the photosynthetic physiological activities of the surveyed trees, affecting the normal dormancy of the plants at night; the sensitivity of different tree species to night lighting was different, and there were some differences in the light compensation points, so the corresponding safe distance was also different. 19Flexible Monitoring,Diagnosis,and Therapy by Microneedles with Versatile Materials and Devices toward Multifunction Scope显示文摘Microneedles(MNs)have drawn rising attention owing to their merits of convenience,noninvasiveness,flexible applicability,painless microchannels with boosted metabolism,and precisely tailored multifunction control.MNs can be modified to serve as novel transdermal drug delivery,which conventionally confront with the penetration barrier caused by skin stratum corneum.The micrometer-sized needles create channels through stratum corneum,enabling efficient drug delivery to the dermis for gratifying efficacy.Then,incorporating photosensitizer or photothermal agents into MNs can conduct photodynamic or photothermal therapy,respectively.Besides,health monitoring and medical detection by MN sensors can extract information from skin interstitial fluid and other biochemical/electronic signals.Here,this review discloses a novel monitoring,diagnostic,and therapeutic pattern by MNs,with elaborate discussion about the classified formation of MNs together with various applications and inherent mechanism.Hereby,multifunction development and outlook from biomedical/nanotechnology/photoelectric/devices/informatics to multidisciplinary applications are provided.Programmable intelligent MNs enable logic encoding of diverse monitoring and treatment pathways to extract signals,optimize the therapy efficacy,real-time monitoring,remote control,and drug screening,and take instant treatment.Shuo Wang Mengmeng Zhao Yibo Yan Peng Li Wei Huang 2023Research2023,,4:0
20Atypical manifestations of acute coronary syndrome—throat discomfort:a multi-center observational study显示文摘To present the clinical characteristics and the misdiagnosis rate of acute coronary syndrome manifested primarily as throat discomfort,we conducted a multicentric and retrospective study in the cardiology and otorhinolaryngology departments.Records of patients with primary complaint of throat discomfort,absence of chest pain at onset,and an ultimate diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome,as well as patients with pharyngitis(as controls)were collected from May 2015 to April 2016.The patients’main manifestations were compared.Logistic regression results showed that chest tightness,dyspnea,perspiring,and exertional throat symptoms were significantly associated with acute coronary syndrome,with odds ratios of 8.3(95%CI 2.2–31.5),10.9(95%CI 1.8–66.9),25.4(95%CI 3.6–179.9),and 81.2(95%CI 13.0–506.7).A total of 25(56.82%)out of 44 acute coronary syndrome patients,who were first admitted to the otorhinolaryngology department,were misdiagnosed,with a 12%(3/25)mortality rate.Throat discomfort can be the principal manifestation of acute coronary syndrome.Such patients exhibit high misdiagnosis and mortality rates.Exertional throat symptoms,chest tightness,perspiring,and dyspnea were important indicators of acute coronary syndrome in patients whose main complaint was throat discomfort.The awareness of this condition will result in prompt diagnosis and reduce morbidity and mortality.Yanqing Fang Xiaoting Cheng Wenhui Peng Xueying Chen Chunping Tang Qiusheng Huang Sihai Wu Yibo Huang Fanglu Chi Matthew RNaunheim Huawei Li Bing Chen Yilai Shu 2022Frontiers of Medicine2022,16,4:0
