1Flavor Characteristics of Different Crops of Laver(Porphyra yezoensis)During One Harvest Cycle显示文摘The taste and odor analysis of the first,second,fourth and sixth crops of laver(Porphyra yezoensis)was obtained by electronic tongue,taste-related compound,electronic nose and gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometer(GC-IMS).Through the detection of the electronic tongue,the pleasant tastes such as umami and richness are more intense in the early crops,which is consistent with the analysis results of free amino acids and flavored nucleotides.The electronic nose can clearly distinguish between different laver crops.GC-IMS separated and identified 36 volatile components from lavers,mainly including aldehydes,ketones,alcohols,esters,acids and aromatic substances.For the early harvested crops,nonanal,octanal,hexanal and benzaldehyde have a significant contribution to odor because of the high concentration and low threshold of these compounds.For the later harvested crops,the concentration of most ketones and some aldehydes increased.1-Octen-3-ol,malondialdehyde and heptanal constituted the main odor characteristics.CAO Rong HU Mengyue ZHAO Ling WANG Lianzhu LIU Qi 2021Journal of Ocean University of China2021,20,1:5
2Pancreatic head cancer: Open or minimally invasive pancreaticoduodenectomy?显示文摘Pancreatic head cancer still represents an insurmountable barrier for patients and pancreatic surgeons.Pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD)continues to be the operative standard of care and potentially curative procedure for pancreatic head cancer.Despite the rapid development of minimally invasive techniques,whether the efficacy of minimally invasive pancreaticoduodenectomy(MIPD)is noninferior or superior to open pancreaticoduodenectomy(OPD)remains unclear.In this review,we summarized the history of OPD and MIPD and the latest staging and classification information for pancreatic head cancer as well as the proposed recommendations for MIPD indications for patients with pancreatic head cancer.By reviewing the MIPD-vs.OPD-related literature,we found that MIPD shows noninferiority or superiority to OPD in terms of safety,feasibility,enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS)and several short-term and long-term outcomes.In addition,we analyzed and summarized the different MIPD outcomes in the USA,Europe and China.Certain debates over MIPD have continued,however,selection bias,the large number of low-volume centers,the steep MIPD learning curve,high conversion rate and administration of neoadjuvant therapy may limit the application of MIPD for pancreatic head cancer.Mengyu Feng Zhe Cao Zhiwei Sun Taiping Zhang Yupei Zhao 2019Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2019,31,6:4

4High‑Performance Flexible Microneedle Array as a Low‑Impedance Surface Biopotential Dry Electrode for Wearable Electrophysiological Recording and Polysomnography显示文摘Microneedle array(MNA)electrodes are an effective solution to achieve high-quality surface biopotential recording without the coordination of conductive gel and are thus very suitable for long-term wearable applications.Existing schemes are limited by flexibility,biosafety,and manufacturing costs,which create large barriers for wider applications.Here,we present a novel flexible MNA electrode that can simultaneously achieve flexibility of the substrate to fit a curved body surface,robustness of microneedles to penetrate the skin without fracture,and a simplified process to allow mass production.The compatibility with wearable wireless systems and the short preparation time of the electrodes significantly improves the comfort and convenience of electrophysiological recording.The normalized electrode–skin contact impedance reaches 0.98 kΩcm^(2)at 1 kHz and 1.50 kΩcm^(2)at 10 Hz,a record low value compared to previous reports and approximately 1/250 of the standard electrodes.The morphology,biosafety,and electrical/mechanical properties are fully characterized,and wearable recordings with a high signal-to-noise ratio and low motion artifacts are realized.The first reported clinical study of microneedle electrodes for surface electrophysiological monitoring was conducted in tens of healthy and sleep-disordered subjects with 44 nights of recording(over 8 h per night),providing substantial evidence that the electrodes can be leveraged to substitute for clinical standard electrodes.Junshi Li Yundong Ma Dong Huang Zhongyan Wang Zhitong Zhang Yingjie Ren Mengyue Hong Yufeng Chen Tingyu Li Xiaoyi Shi Lu Cao Jiayan Zhang Bingli Jiao Junhua Liu Hongqiang Sun Zhihong Li 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,8:1
5Study of sodium lignosulfonate prepare low-rank coal-water slurry:Experiments and simulations显示文摘The effect of sodium lignosulfonate(SL)as additive on the preparation of low-rank coal-water slurry(LCWS)was studied by experiments and molecular dynamics(MD)simulation s.The experimental results show that the appropriate amount of additives is beneficial to reduce the viscosity of LCWS and increase the slurry concentration.Adsorption isotherm studies showed that SL conforms to single-layer adsorption on the coal surface,andΔG_(ads)^(0) was negative,proving that the reaction was spontaneous.Zeta potential measurements showed that SL increased the negative charge on coal.FTIR scanning and XPS wide-range scanning were performed on the coal before and after adsorption,and it was found that the content of oxygen functional groups on coal increased after adsorption.Simulation results show that when a large number of SL molecules exist in the solution,some SL molecules will bind to hydrophobic hydrocarbon groups on coal.The rest of the SL molecule s,their hydrophobic alkyl tails,come into contact with each other and aggregate in solution.The agglomeration of SL molecules and the surface of coal with static electricity will also produce electrostatic interaction,which is conducive to the even dispersion of coal particles.The results of mean square displacement(MSD)and self-diffusion coefficient(D)show that the addition of SL reduces the diffusion rate of water molecules.Simulation results correspond to experimental results,indicating that MD simulation is accurate and feasible.Lin Li Chuandong Ma Mengyu Lin Mingpu Liu Hao Yu QingbiaoWang Xiaoqiang Cao Xiaofang You 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,1:1
6Comparison of Flavor Substances in Dried Shrimp Products Processed by Litopenaeus Vannamei from Two Aquaculture Patterns显示文摘Dried shrimp is a popular aquatic food worldwide due to its unique flavor.However,its flavor qualities on the market remain uneven.This study aimed to compare flavor substances in dried shrimp processed by Litopenaeus vannamei from two aquaculture patterns(earthen pond and greenhouse)using amino acid automatic analyzer,high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC),gas chromatography(GC)-ion mobility spectrometry(IMS),and GC-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).The results revealed that dried shrimp from earthen pond had significantly higher free amino acids and 5’-nucleotides than those from greenhouse(P<0.05),and their corresponding equivalent umami concentrations(EUCs)were 23.45 g MSG(100 g)^(−1)and 14.86 g MSG(100 g)^(−1),respectively.For volatile compounds,GC-IMS analysis indicated significant differences in volatile compounds between dried shrimp from different aquaculture patterns.According to the quantitative analysis of GC-MS,11 volatile compounds were identified as aroma-active compounds(AACs),of which six AACs(1-octen-3-ol,3-methylbutanal,nonanal,trimethylamine,2,5-dimethylpyrazine,and 2,3,5-trimethylpyrazine)were found in all dried shrimp samples.Although dried shrimp from greenhouse possesses higher OAVs,OAVs of(E,E)-2,4-nonadienal(fishy smell),and 3,5-diethyl-2-methylpyrazine(burnt smell)reached 171.2 and 333 respectively,imparting negative effects on flavor.In general,dried shrimp from earthen pond had a better flavor profile than those from greenhouse.HU Mengyue XUE Yong ZHAO Ling LIU Qi CAO Rong 2022Journal of Ocean University of China2022,21,6:1

11Use of the ulcerative colitis endoscopic index of severity and Mayo endoscopic score for predicting the therapeutic effect of mesalazine in patients with ulcerative colitis显示文摘Objective:The ulcerative colitis endoscopic index of severity(UCEIS)and the Mayo endoscopic score(MES)are developed as objective methods of evaluating endoscopic severity in patients with ulcerative colitis(UC).The aim of this study is to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of the UCEIS and MES in predicting the patient's response to mesalazine.Methods:Consecutive patients with UC who had undergone colonoscopy within 1 month before starting mesalazine between October 2011 and July 2016 were retrospectively collected at the Department of Gastroenterology,Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital,Zhejiang University School of Medicine.The median follow-up was 81 months,and all the data were analyzed in January 2021.The primary outcome was the need for step-up treatment,which included the use of corticosteroids,immunomodulatory,or surgery during admission and follow-up.Data were analyzed using the c2 or Fisher exact test,Spearman test,t-test,and ManneWhitney U test.Results:Totally,65 patients were enrolled,of whom 12(18.5%)needed step-up treatment due to nonresponse to mesalazine.The UCEIS score,MES,and the ulcerative colitis disease activity index(UCDAI)score were significantly higher in patients who had nonresponse to mesalazine(UCEIS score:6.92±0.69 vs.4.45±1.17,p<0.001;MES:2.67±0.49 vs.2.15±0.69,p=0.024;UCDAI score:9.33±1.87 vs.6.70±2.38,p=0.002).In the multivariate analysis,the UCEIS score(OR=25.65,95%CI:3.048 e45.985,p=0.003),UCDAI score(OR=1.605,95%CI:1.144e2.254,p=0.006),and C-reactive protein level(OR=1.056,95%CI:1.006e1.108,p=0.026)were independent risk factors of nonresponse.The area under the ROC curve of UCEIS was 0.95,with a sensitivity of 100%and specificity of 84.6%,a cut-off value of 6,which outperformed the MES with an area under the ROC curve of 0.70.When the UCEIS score≥6,60%of patients eventually needed step-up treatment.Conclusions:The UCEIS is a useful instrument for predicting the therapeutic effect in patients with UC treated with mesalazine.The high probability of mesalazine treatment failure and benefits of other therapies should be discussed in patients with baseline UCEIS score≥6.Haotian Chen Lexi Wu Mengyu Wang Bule Shao Lingna Ye Yu Zhang Qian Cao 2021Laparoscopic, Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery2021,4,2:0
12Natural high-porous diatomaceous-earth based self-floating aerogel for efficient solar steam power generation显示文摘The application of solar steam generation in seawater desalination is an effective way to solve the shortage of fresh water resources.At present,many kinds of photothermal conversion materials have been developed and used as evaporators in seawater desalination.However,some evaporators need additional thermal insulation or water supply devices to achieve efficient photothermal conversion.In addition,their complex,time consuming and no scalable preparation process,high cost of raw materials and poor salt resistance hinder the practical application of these evaporator.Owing to its distinctive nanoporous structure,diatomite as fossilized single-cells algae diatoms is a promising natural silica-based material for seawater desalination.They are taken from sea and that makes true sense to use them in the sea.Herein,we report the first example of synthesis robust three-dimensional(3D)natural-diatomite composite by assembling polyaniline nanoparticles covered diatomite into the polyvinyl alcohol pre-treated melamine foam frameworks and demonstrate its application as new evaporator for seawater desalination.The porous framework does not only improve the sunlight scattering efficiency,but also offer large network of channels for water transportation.The inherent mechanism behind salt desalination process involves the absorption of water molecules on the surface of the internal silica micro-nano pores,and evaporation under the heat induced by the polyaniline absorbed sunlight.Meanwhile,the metal ions are segregated by many available pores and channels to achieve the self-desalting effect.The developed evaporator possesses the superiority of multi-stage pore structure,strong hydrophilicity,low thermal conductivity,excellent light absorption,fast water transportation and salt-resistant crystallization as well as good durability.The evaporation rate without an additional device is found to be 1.689 kg m^(-2)h^(-1)under 1-Sun irradiation,and the energy conversion efficiency is as high as 95%.This work creates a platform and develops the prospect of employing green and sustainable natural-diatomite composite evaporator for practical applications of seawater desalination.Aitang Zhang Kai Wang Md Julker Nine Mengyu Cao Hanwen Zong Zhiqiang Liu Hanwen Guo Jingquan Liu Dusan Losic 2024Green Energy & Environment2024,9,2:0

14Universal transfer of full-class metal electrodes for barrier-free two-dimensional semiconductor contacts显示文摘Metal–semiconductor contacts are crucial components in semiconductor devices.Ultrathin two-dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenide semiconductors can sustain transistor scaling for next-generation integrated circuits.However,their performance is often degraded by conventional metal deposition,which results in a high barrier due to chemical disorder and Fermi-level pinning(FLP).Although,transferring electrodes can address these issues,they are limited in achieving universal transfer of full-class metals due to strong adhesion between pre-deposited metals and substrates.Here,we propose a nanobelt-assisted transfer strategy that can avoid the adhesion limitation and enables the universal transfer of over 20 different types of electrodes.Our contacts obey the Schottky–Mott rule and exhibit a FLP of S=0.99.Both the electron and hole contacts show record-low Schottky barriers of 4.2 and 11.2 meV,respectively.As a demonstration,we construct a doping-free WSe2 inverter with these high-performance contacts,which exhibits a static power consumption of only 58 pW.This strategy provides a universal method of electrode preparation for building high-performance post-Moore electronic devices.Mengyu Hong Xiankun Zhang Yu Geng Yunan Wang Xiaofu Wei Li Gao Huihui Yu Zhihong Cao Zheng Zhang Yue Zhang 2024InfoMat2024,6,1:0
15A mechanistic consideration of oxygen enhancement ratio, oxygen transport and their relevancies for normal tissue sparing under FLASH irradiation显示文摘Our study investigated the role of oxygen in mediating the FLASH efect.This efect,which was frst reported in vitro in the 1950s and in vivo in the 1970s,recently gained prominence with a number of publications showing diferential sparing between normal tissues and tumors.Oxygen depletion(and subsequent induction of transient hypoxia)is the oldest and most prominent hypothesis to explain this efect.To better understand how the oxygen depletion hypothesis and oxygen enhancement ratio(OER)are relevant for interpreting FLASH benefts,an analytical model was proposed to estimate the sparing factor.The model incorporated factors such as OER,oxygen partial pressure(pO_(2)),loco-regional oxygen difusion/metabolism,total dose and dose rate.The sparing factor,was used to quantify the sparing of normal tissue(initially physoxic).The radiosensitivity parameters of two cell types(V79 Chinese hamster cells and T1 human kidney cells)were selected.Furthermore,the transient behavior of OER during fnite time intervals was modeled,for both without and with the presence of oxygen transport using a difusion model.For tissues with an oxygen consumption rate of 20mmHg/s and a distance of 60μm away from blood vessels,the sparing factor demonstrates an increase from 1.03/1.06(V79/T1)at 2.5Gy/s up to 1.28/1.72(V79/T1)at 100Gy/s(total dose:10Gy).For normal tissues of initial pO_(2) between 1.5 and 8mmHg,the beneft from pushing the dose rate above 100Gy/s is found to be marginal.Preliminary animal experiments have been conducted for validation.Overall,our study predicts that the dose rate associated with maximum normal tissue protection is between 50Gy/s and 100Gy/s.Other than the postulation of the hypoxic stem cell niches in normal tissues,we believe that a framework based upon the oxygen depletion hypothesis and OER is not able to efciently interpret diferential responses between normal and tumor tissue under FLASH irradiation.Mengyu Jia Xu Cao Brian W.Pogue Hao Peng 2022Holistic Integrative Oncology2022,1,1:0

18Durable and enhanced immunity against SARS-CoV-2 elicited by manganese nanoadjuvant formulated subunit vaccine显示文摘Dear editor,Vaccines are the most efficient and effective means to prevent infectious diseases,but improving the long-term protective efficacy is still a major challenge in contemporary vaccine development.1 The waning immunity varies depending on the diversification of the pathogen and the number of booster doses.1 Strategies to overcome this warrant is using adjuvants that amplify the immune response,and drive the production of memory B and T cells or long-lived plasma cells that recognize the pathogen for durable protection.2–4 Although existing adjuvants have achieved promising results,research on generating durable protective immunity is lacking in promoting vaccine development and staying ahead of global pandemics such as coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).The precisely designed nanoadjuvants can enhance lymph node targeting and increase antigenpresenting cell(APCs)uptake,achieving the co-delivery of adjuvants and antigens and activating innate and adaptive immune responses.5 Previously,we reported a manganese nanoadjuvant(MnARK)and receptor-binding domain(RBD)monomer antigen formulated nanovaccine.6 MnARK transported antigens to lymph nodes,activated the STING pathway,elicited strong neutralizing abilities and increased immune memory T cell percentage against the infection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).6 Regarding the long-term protection potential of MnARK for subunit vaccine development,we further explored the durable immune regulation abilities of MnARK to a SARS-CoV-2 RBD dimer antigen,which has been used in an approved COVID-19 subunit vaccine ZF2001 with aluminum adjuvant(alum).7,8 TEM result revealed that RBD dimer could interact with BSA on MnARK surface and epitope can be well preserved(Supplementary Fig.1a).The size and zeta potential of MnARK-RBD dimer nanovaccine was~58 nm and-14 mV,respectively(Supplementary Fig.1b,c).Mengyu Guo Mingjing Cao Jiufeng Sun Ziwei Chen Xin Wang Lianpan Dai George F.Gao Yuliang Zhao Yaling Wang Chunying Chen 2024Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2024,9,1:0
