2Abrupt Climate Changes of Holocene显示文摘This paper is a review of studies of abrupt climate changes(ACCs) during the Holocene published during the past ten years.North Atlantic cold events are indicators of ACCs.As indicated by North Atlantic ice-rafted debris(IRD),there were nine confirmed cold events during the Holocene,occurring at 11.1 kyr,10.3 kyr,9.4 kyr,8.1 kyr,5.9 kyr,4.2 kyr,2.8 kyr,1.4 kyr,and 0.4 kyr respectively according to most representative results from Bond et al.(1997).However,the identification of chronology has been made with some uncertainties.Considerable climatic proxy data have shown that,during the cold events,substantial climate abnormalities have occurred widely across the globe,particularly in the areas surrounding the North Atlantic.These abnormalities were in the form of high-latitude cold in the both hemispheres,expansion of the Westerlies to low latitudes,drought in the monsoon regions,recession of summer monsoons,and intensification of the winter monsoons.Studies have indicated that the four ACCs occurring in the early Holocene may be related to freshwater pulses from ice melting in the northern part of the North Atlantic,and the other five ACCs that occurred during the middle and late Holocene may be related to the decreased solar activity.WANG Shaowu GE Quansheng WANG Fang WEN Xinyu HUANG Jianbin 2013Chinese Geographical Science2013,23,1:6
3A Geometric Robust Watermarking Algorithm Based on DWT-DCT and Zernike Moments显示文摘This paper proposed a novel multibits watermarking algorithm providing robustness against geometric attacks. The robustness is achieved from three aspects: ① Choosing the in- scribed disk of the host image as the Zernike moments computa- tion domain and the square in the disk as the watermarking em- bedding domain. ② Embedding the watermark in the cascade discrete wavelet transform-discrete cosine transform (DWT-DCT) domain by modulating the specified coefficient pair in each sub block. ③ Saving two selected Zernike moments of the original watermarked image to estimate and correct the geometric attacks before watermark extraction. 8Effect of microstructure and surface chemistry in liquid-phase adsorptive nicotine by almond-shell-based activated carbon显示文摘The effect of microstructure and surface chemistry on nicotine adsorption capacity of almond-shell-based activated carbon was studied.Almond-shell-based activated carbon was reactivated or modified with steam,ZnCl2and NaHSO4separately.The surface area and pore structure parameters of activated carbon were determined from the adsorption-desorption isotherm of nitrogen at 77K.Boehm titration and FTIR were explored to determine the surface oxygen groups.The results revealed that nicotine adsorption from solution on carbons depend on the micropores and phenolic groups.A strong correlation between the amounts of adsorbed nicotine and the phenolic groups was observed,whereas the higher amounts of carboxylic groups decrease the nicotine adsorption capacity on activated carbons.YANG JiLiang FANG Fang ZHOU JianBin 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,30:1
9Nucleic acids analysis显示文摘Nucleic acids are natural biopolymers of nucleotides that store, encode, transmit and express genetic information, which play central roles in diverse cellular events and diseases in living things. The analysis of nucleic acids and nucleic acids-based analysis have been widely applied in biological studies, clinical diagnosis, environmental analysis, food safety and forensic analysis.During the past decades, the field of nucleic acids analysis has been rapidly advancing with many technological breakthroughs.In this review, we focus on the methods developed for analyzing nucleic acids, nucleic acids-based analysis, device for nucleic acids analysis, and applications of nucleic acids analysis. 10Hydrogen bonding interactions between ethylene glycol and water:density,excess molar volume,and spectral study显示文摘Studies of the density and the excess molar volume of ethylene glycol (EG)-water mixtures were carried out to illustrate the hydrogen bonding interactions of EG with water at different temperatures. The re-sults suggest that a likely complex of 3 ethylene glycol molecules bonding with 4 water molecules in an ethylene glycol-water mixture (EGW) is formed at the maximal excess molar volume,which displays stronger absorption capabilities for SO2 when the concentration of SO2 reaches 400×10?6 (volume ratio) in the gas phase. Meanwhile,FTIR and UV spectra of EGWs were recorded at various EG concentra-tions to display the hydrogen bonding interactions of EG with water. The FTIR spectra show that the stretching vibrational band of hydroxyl in the EGWs shifts to a lower frequency and the bending vibra-tional band of water shifts to a higher frequency with increasing the EG concentration,respectively. Furthermore,the UV spectra show that the electron transferring band of the hydroxyl oxygen in EG shows red shift with increasing the EG concentration. 13Investigation of the mesospheric temperature over Fort Collins region显示文摘The nightly mean mesospheric temperature profiles between 80 and 107 km,observed by Na lidar,over Fort Collins,Colorado(41°N,105°W)from 1990 to 2010,are employed to research the temporal and spatial variations and mesopause.We find that the maximum mean temperature is in summer months above 95 km,but reverse below 95 km,and there is a cooler region below 185 K around 97 km in August.The largest seasonal variation is 39.2 K at 81 km,and the minimum is 6.5 K at 96.5 km.The maximum standard derivation in spring and autumn months are larger than other seasons above 105 km,but the temperatures in March,June and September are lower than the other months between 82 km and 100 km where winter is the largest season.Moreover,the seasonal variations of the temperature are about 36,8 and 21 K at 85,95 and 105 km,respectively.winter is colder and summer is warmer above 97.5 km,but reverse below 92 km.The mesopause height is around 102 km in winter,but 84 km in summer,and the mean speed of decreasing or increasing of the mesopause height is about 5 km/month in spring and autumn months which are about 90 km.The lasting time of the mesopause in winter is near 6 months,longer than other seasons,and the mesopause temperature is about 165 K in cool summer,and 185 K in warm winter.FAN Xin WENG LiBin ZHANG JianBin FANG HanXian XIE YanQiong 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,8:0
14Fundamental problem in optimizing the biaxial testing specimen显示文摘Most of the elements in structural design are subjected to the complex loading conditions that need to be predicted in advance for a reliable design. The failure prediction of these structural elements is based on the failure theories that employ the experimental data of the uniaxial, the biaxial and the shear tests. Among these tests, the biaxial testing is used to model the behavior of the structure loaded in more than one direction. In this study, we discover an interesting fact for the biaxial tension specimen that the thickness reduction of the measuring region cannot increase the stress to a high level. This behavior of the biaxial testing is different from the uniaxial testing where the thickness reduction of the measuring region always increases its stress to a higher level. Therefore, we further investigate the biaxial testing specimen via related fundamental problem, i.e., an axisymmetric plate with varying thickness under axisymmetric tension. We perform the shape optimization based on our analytical solution and the FEM results. For an infinite axisymmetric disk, the optimized design should include a low slope diverging section connecting the inner to outer region. On the contrary, the larger inner measuring region for finite axisymmetric disk would result in higher corresponding stress. 16More Bang for Your Buck:Boosting Performance with Capped Power Consumption显示文摘Achieving faster performance without increasing power and energy consumption for computing systems is an outstanding challenge.This paper develops a novel resource allocation scheme for memory-bound applications running on High-Performance Computing(HPC)clusters,aiming to improve application performance without breaching peak power constraints and total energy consumption.Our scheme estimates how the number of processor cores and CPU frequency setting affects the application performance.It then uses the estimate to provide additional compute nodes to memory-bound applications if it is profitable to do so.We implement and apply our algorithm to 12 representative benchmarks from the NAS parallel benchmark and HPC Challenge(HPCC)benchmark suites and evaluate it on a representative HPC cluster.Experimental results show that our approach can effectively mitigate memory contention to improve application performance,and it achieves this without significantly increasing the peak power and overall energy consumption.Our approach obtains on average 12.69%performance improvement over the default resource allocation strategy,but uses 7.06%less total power,which translates into 17.77%energy savings.Juan Chen Xinxin Qi Feihao Wu Jianbin Fang Yong Dong Yuan Yuan Zheng Wang Keqin Li 2021Tsinghua Science and Technology2021,26,3:0
17High-power continuous-wave optical waveguiding in a silica micro/nanofibre显示文摘As miniature fibre-optic platforms,micro/nanofibres(MNFs)taper-drawn from silica fibres have been widely studied for applications from optical sensing,nonlinear optics to optomechanics and atom optics.While continuous-wave(CW)optical waveguiding is frequently adopted,so far almost all MNFs are operated in low-power region(e.g.,<0.1 W).Here,we demonstrate high-power low-loss CW optical waveguiding in MNFs around 1550-nm wavelength.We show that a pristine MNF,even with a diameter down to 410 nm,can waveguide an optical power higher than 10 W,which is about 30 times higher than demonstrated previously.Also,we predict an optical damage threshold of 70 W.In highpower CW waveguiding MNFs,we demonstrate high-speed optomechanical driving of microparticles in air,and second harmonic generation efficiency higher than those pumped by short pulses.Our results may pave a way towards high-power MNF optics,for both scientific research and technological applications.Jianbin Zhang Yi Kang Xin Guo Yuhang Li Keying Liu Yu Xie Hao Wu Dawei Cai Jue Gong Zhangxing Shi Yingying Jin Pan Wang Wei Fang Lei Zhang Limin Tong 2023Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,5:0
18Empirical Study on Online Political Participation of Young Migrant Workers显示文摘Popularization of network technology and development of online political participation expand approaches of young migrant workers participating in political affairs and raise interest and ability of young migrant workers participating in political affairs. Through questionnaire of young migrant workers participating in political affairs in Xi'an,Xianyang and Yangling,the survey team found that political participation of young migrant workers takes on following characteristics: active and positive online political concern,passive and profit seeking online political expression,and claim of right. Besides,online political participation of young migrant workers is related to region,cultural level,and occupation,but not related with their political status. 19FlowDNN:a physics-informed deep neural network for fast and accurate flow prediction显示文摘For flow-related design optimization problems,e.g.,aircraft and automobile aerodynamic design,computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations are commonly used to predict flow fields and analyze performance.While important,CFD simulations are a resource-demanding and time-consuming iterative process.The expensive simulation overhead limits the opportunities for large design space exploration and prevents interactive design.In this paper,we propose Flow DNN,a novel deep neural network(DNN)to efficiently learn flow representations from CFD results.Flow DNN saves computational time by directly predicting the expected flow fields based on given flow conditions and geometry shapes.Flow DNN is the first DNN that incorporates the underlying physical conservation laws of fluid dynamics with a carefully designed attention mechanism for steady flow prediction.This approach not only improves the prediction accuracy,but also preserves the physical consistency of the predicted flow fields,which is essential for CFD.Various metrics are derived to evaluate Flow DNN with respect to the whole flow fields or regions of interest(RoIs)(e.g.,boundary layers where flow quantities change rapidly).Experiments show that Flow DNN significantly outperforms alternative methods with faster inference and more accurate results.It speeds up a graphics processing unit(GPU)accelerated CFD solver by more than 14000×,while keeping the prediction error under 5%.Donglin CHEN Xiang GAO Chuanfu XU Siqi WANG Shizhao CHEN Jianbin FANG Zheng WANG 2022Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering2022,23,2:0
