2Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging for focal liver lesions in Chinese patients:a multicenter,open-label,phase Ⅲ study显示文摘BACKGROUND:Contrast agents help to improve visibility in magnetic resonance(MR)imaging.However,owing to the large interstitial spaces of the liver,there is a reduction in the natural contrast gradient between lesions and healthy tissue.This study was undertaken to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the liverspecific MR imaging contrast agent gadoxetate disodium(GdEOB-DTPA)in Chinese patients.METHODS:This was a single-arm,open-label,multicenter study in patients with known or suspected focal liver lesions referred for contrast-enhanced MR imaging.MR imaging was performed in 234 patients before and after a single intravenous bolus of Gd-EOB-DTPA(0.025 mmol/kg body weight).Images were evaluated by clinical study investigators and three independent,blinded radiologists.The primary efficacy endpoint was sensitivity in lesion detection.RESULTS:Gd-EOB-DTPA improved sensitivity in lesion detection by 9.46%compared with pre-contrast imaging for the average of the three blinded readers(94.78%vs 85.32%for Gd-EOB-DTPA vs pre-contrast,respectively).Improvements in detection were more pronounced in lesions less than 1cm.Gd-EOB-DTPA improved diagnostic accuracy in lesion classification.CONCLUSIONS:This open-label study demonstrated that Gd-EOB-DTPA improves diagnostic sensitivity in liver lesions,particularly in those smaller than 1 cm.Gd-EOB-DTPA also significantly improves the diagnostic accuracy in lesion classification,and furthermore,Gd-EOB-DTPA is safe in Chinese patients with liver lesions.Meng-Su Zeng Hui-Yi Ye Liang Guo Wei-Jun Peng Jian-Ping Lu Gao-Jun Teng Josy Breuer Yi Huan Ping Li Jian-Rong Xu Chang-Hong Liang 2013Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2013,12,6:31

4The Association of Maternal Body Composition and Dietary Intake with the Risk of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus during the Second Trimester in a Cohort of Chinese Pregnant Women显示文摘Objective To investigate the association of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). Methods A total 154 GDM subjects and 981 controls were enrolled in a prospective cohort study in 11 hospitals from May 20, 2012 to December 31, 2013. Bioelectrical impedance analysis and dietary surveys were used to determine body composition and to evaluate the intake of nutrients in subjects at 21-24 weeks' gestation(WG). Logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the relationships of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of GDM morbidity. Results Age, pre-pregnant body weight(BW), and body mass index(BMI) were associated with increased risk of GDM. Fat mass(FM), fat mass percentage(FMP), extracellular water(ECW), BMI, BW, energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates at 21-24 WG were associated with an increased risk of GDM. In contrast, fat free mass(FFM), muscular mass(MM), and intracellular water(ICW) were associated with a decreased risk of GDM. 5Biological effects of low-dose-rate irradiation of pancreatic carcinoma cells in vitro using ^(125)I seeds显示文摘AIM:To determine the mechanism of the radiationinduced biological effects of 125I seeds on pancreatic carcinoma cells in vitro.METHODS:SW1990 and PANC-1 pancreatic cancer cell lines were cultured in DMEM in a suitable environment.Gray’s model of iodine-125(125I)seed irradiation was used.In vitro,exponential phase SW1990,and PANC-1cells were exposed to 0,2,4,6,and 8 Gy using 125I radioactive seeds,with an initial dose rate of 12.13c Gy/h.A clonogenic survival experiment was performed to observe the ability of the cells to maintain their clonogenic capacity and to form colonies.Cell-cycle and apoptosis analyses were conducted to detect the apoptosis percentage in the SW1990 and PANC-1 cells.DNA synthesis was measured via a tritiated thymidine(3H-Td R)incorporation experiment.After continuous low-dose-rate irradiation with 125I radioactive seeds,the survival fractions at 2 Gy(SF2),percentage apoptosis,and cell cycle phases of the SW1990 and PANC-1 pancreatic cancer cell lines were calculated and compared.RESULTS:The survival fractions of the PANC-1 andSW1990 cells irradiated with 125I seeds decreased exponentially as the dose increased.No significant difference in SF2 was observed between SW1990 and PANC-1 cells(0.766±0.063 vs 0.729±0.045,P<0.05).The 125I seeds induced a higher percentage of apoptosis than that observed in the control in both the SW1990and PANC-1 cells.The rate of apoptosis increased with increasing radiation dosage.The percentage of apoptosis was slightly higher in the SW1990 cells than in the PANC-1 cells.Dose-dependent G2/M cellcycle arrest was observed after 125I seed irradiation,with a peak value at 6 Gy.As the dose increased,the percentage of G2/M cell cycle arrest increased in both cell lines,whereas the rate of DNA incorporation decreased.In the 3H-Td R incorporation experiment,the dosimetry results of both the SW1990 and PANC-1cells decreased as the radiation dose increased,with a minimum at 6 Gy.There were no significant differences in the dosimetry results of the two cell lines when they were exposed to the same dose of radiation.CONCLUSION:The pancreatic cancer cell-killing effects induced by 125I radioactive seeds mainly occurred via apoptosis and G2/M cell cycle arrest.Zhong-Min Wang Jian Lu Li-Yun Zhang Xiao-Zhu Lin Ke-Min Chen Zhi-Jin Chen Fen-Ju Liu Fu-Hua Yan Gao-Jun Teng Ai-Wu Mao 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,8:27
6Comparative effect of electroacupuncture and moxibustion on the expression of substance P and vasoactive intestinal peptide in patients with irritable bowel syndrome显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To compare the impacts of electroacupuncture(EA) and moxibustion(Mox) on the primary gastrointestinal symptoms and the expressions of colonic mucosa-associated neuropeptide substance P(SP) and vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP)in patients with either diarrhea-predominant or constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D and IBS-C,respectively).METHODS: Eighty-five IBS patients were randomly allocated to the EA and Mox groups. Zusanli(ST 36)and Shangjuxu(ST 37) were selected as acupoints for electroacupuncture or warm moxibustion treatment once a day for 14 consecutive days. Before and after the treatment sessions,a Visual Analog Pain Scale and the Bristol Stool Form Scale were used to evaluate gastrointestinal symptoms. There were four dropout cases,leaving 81 participants(41 with IBS-D and 40 with IBS-C) who volunteered to undergo colonoscopy before and after the treatment sessions. During colonoscopy,sigmoid mucosa were collected to detect SP and VIP expression using immunohistochemistry assay.RESULTS: Both EA and Mox treatments were effective at relieving abdominal pain in IBS-D and IBS-C patients. However,Mox was more effective at reducing diarrhea in IBS-D patients,whereas EA was more effective at improving constipation in IBS-C patients. 7Clinical and experimental study on regional administration of phosphorus32 glassmicrospheres in treating hepatic carcinoma显示文摘AIM To study the therapeutical effectiveness, dosage range and toxic adverse effects of domestic phosphorus 32 glass microsphere and evaluate its clinical significance. METHODS Ⅰ. Fifty two BALB/*!c tumor bearing male nude mice were allocated into treatment group( n =38) and control group( n =14). In the former group different doses of 32 P GMS were injected into the tumor mass, while in the latter 31 P GMS or no treatment was given. The experimental animals were sacrificed in batches, and then the tumors and their nearby tissues were examined by light and electron microscopy. Ⅱ. Through selective catheterization of hepatic artery, 32 P GMS was infused to 5 healthy domestic pigs in a dosage equivalent to the therapeutic dose for human being, and 31 P GMS was infused to another 5 healthy domestic pigs. Two pigs infused with contrast medium served as whole course blank controls. One pig from each group was surrendered to euthanasia at week 1, 4, 8 and 16 respectively. The ultrastructural histopath ological changes in liver tissues taken from different sites were evaluated semiquan titatively. Ⅲ. One hundred and twenty seven times of 32 P GMS intrahepatic artery interventional therapies were performed on 93 patients with hepatic carcinoma, including 79 cases of primary hepatic carcinoma and 14 cases of secondary hepatic carcinoma. 32 P GMS ( n =30), and group B, 32 P GMS and half dose of trans hepatic artery embolization (TAE) ( n =49) , and 18 patients with HCC by TAE only as control group C. Fourteen patients with secondary hepatic carcinoma were treated in the same way as group B or C. RESULTS Ⅰ. Comparing with the control group, the treatment group of tumor bearing nude mice attained the tumor inhibition rates of 59 7%-93 7% ( F =579 62, P <0 01) at 14*!d . At an absorbed dose of 7320Gy, the tumor cells were completely destroyed. When the absorbed doses ranged from 1830Gy to 3660Gy, most of the tumor cells showed the evidences of injury or necrosis, but there appeared some well differentiated tumor cells and enhanced effect of the autoimmunocytes. At an absorbed dose of 366Gy or less, some tumor cells still remained active proliferative ability. The definite anticancer effect appeared as early as 3d after intratumoral injection of 32 P GMS. Ⅱ. The cumulative amount of 32 P GMS in the target tissue after trans hepatic artery instillation attained more than 90% of the total dose administrated. Semiquantitative analysis of ultrastructral morphology in the experimental group showed no statistical difference between the nuclear abnormality (N abn ) and mitochondrial variability (M var ) at week 1 or 2, but revealed prominent difference (χ 2=6 70-9 68, P <0 01 , χ 2=65 09-115 09, P <0 001 ) as compared with those in the other groups. In the experimental group the N abn in tissues showed no significant difference between week 8 and week 16. No apparent changes were found in the stomach, spleen, kidney and lung tissues of the experimental pigs. Ⅲ. The therapeutical results of HCC patients in group A were closely approximated to those of group C, no hematological toxic side effects were noted, and the systemic reaction was mild. In some patients 2*!mos - 3*!mos after treatment some secondary foci appeared around the periphery of the primary lesion. In general better effectiveness was obtained in patients with small lesion. After analyzing by RIDIT method, the therapeutic result in group B was significantly better than that in group C, and secondary foci around the original lesion were rarely seen at 3*!mos after treatment. In group C the collateral circulation was reestablished along the periphery of primary foci and the secondary foci appeared more frequently, and required to undergo several courses of treatment. 9Landslide monitoring with high-resolution SAR data in the Three Gorges region显示文摘Employing the well-known D-InSAR technique,we investigated landslide monitoring in the Three Gorges region using TerraSAR-X data.The experiment demonstrates that using both the amplitude and differential phase allows us to identify the precise location,deformation and time range of occurrence of certain landslides.To overcome the atmospheric effect on D-InSAR results,a time-series analysis was also carried out.The observed nonlinear relationship between the deformation and water level suggests that reservoir water level fluctuation is one of the major causes of landslides,which is significant in terms of issuing landslide warnings.In addition,the comparison of TerraSAR-X and C-band ASAR data results indicates that TerraSAR-X data provide far more reasonable deformation measurements because of their high temporal and spatial resolutions.MingSheng Liao Jing Tang Teng Wang Timo Balz Lu Zhang 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,4:15
10Tissue-specific transcription reprogramming promotes liver metastasis of colorectal cancer显示文摘Metastasis,the development of secondary malignant growths at a distance from a primary tumor,is the cause of death for 90%of cancer patients,but little is known about how metastatic cancer cells adapt to and colonize new tissue environments.Here,using clinical samples,patient-derived xenograft(PDX)samples,PDX cells,and primary/metastatic cell lines,we discovered that liver metastatic colorectal cancer(CRC)cells lose their colon-specific gene transcription program yet gain a liver-specific gene transcription program.We showed that this transcription reprogramming is driven by a reshaped epigenetic landscape of both typical enhancers and super-enhancers.Further,we identified that the liver-specific transcription factors FOXA2 and HNF1A can bind to the gained enhancers and activate the liver-specific gene transcription,thereby driving CRC liver metastasis.Importantly,similar transcription reprogramming can be observed in multiple cancer types.Our data suggest that reprogrammed tissue-specific transcription promotes metastasis and should be targeted therapeutically.Shuaishuai Teng Yang Eric Li Ming Yang Rui Qi Yiming Huang Qianyu Wang Yanmei Zhang Shanwen Chen Shasha Li Kequan Lin Yang Cao Qunsheng Ji Qingyang Gu Yujing Cheng Zai Chang Wei Guo Pengyuan Wang Ivan Garcia-Bassets Zhi John Lu Dong Wang 2020Cell Research2020,30,1:11
11The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. 12Waxy allelic diversity in common millet(Panicum miliaceum L.) in China显示文摘A set of 132 accessions of common millet,Panicum miliaceum L.,from 12 provinces of China were assessed for endosperm starch type(waxy or non-waxy)using I_2-KI staining,amylose and amylopectin contents using the dual-wavelength colorimetric method,and genotype of Waxy genes conditioning amylose content by gene sequencing.Endosperm starch content varied from57.69%to 74.70%,while the amylose and amylopectin contents of the starch ranged from 0 to23.29%and from 41.99%to 70.24%,respectively.Sequencing two Wx genes,including Wx-L(intron 5-exon 7 and intron 8–9)and Wx-S(exon 9–intron 10)revealed several polymorphisms(S_0,S_(-15),L_C,L_F,L_Y).Marker M5-R11 linking to the Wx-S gene may be used to discriminate waxy common millet accessions from non-waxy ones.Among the 132 accessions,68 with the S_(-15)allele had waxy endosperm starch with the amylose content range 0–2.58%and 64 accessions with the S_0allele had non-waxy endosperm starch with amylose content range 3.94%–23.29%.Five genotypes including S_(-15)/L_F(45%of the accessions),S_0/L_F(25%),S_0/L_Y(12%),S_0/L_C(11%),and S_(-15)/L_Y(7%)were identified.Six new SNPs were detected at the Wx-L locus.These results will facilitate common millet breeding,especially of cultivars free of amylose.Ruiyun Wang Haigang Wang Xiaohuan Liu Xu Ji Ling Chen Ping Lu Minxuan Liu Bin Teng Zhijun Qiao 2018The Crop Journal2018,6,4:10
13NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF TURBULENT FREE SURFACE FLOW OVER OBSTRUCTION显示文摘A two-dimensional hybrid numerical model, FEM-LES-VOF, for free surface flows is proposed in this study, which is a combination of three-step Taylor-Galerkin finite element method, large eddy simulation with the Smagorinsky sub-grid model and Computational Lagrangian-Eulerian Advection Remap Volume of Fluid (CLEAR-VOF) method. The present FEM-LES-VOF model allows the fluid flows involving violent free surface and turbulence subject to complex boundary configuration to be simulated in a straightforward manner with unstructured grids in the context of finite element method. Numerical simulation of a benchmark problem of dam breaking is conducted to verify the present model. Comparisons with experimental data show that the proposed model works well and is capable of producing reliable predictions for free surface flows. Using the FEM-LES-VOF model, the free surface flow over a semi-circular obstruction is investigated. The simulation results are compared with available experimental and numerical results. Good performance of the FEM-LES-VOF model is demonstrated again. 14Supplementation with sodium butyrate improves growth and antioxidant function in dairy calves before weaning显示文摘Background: There is increasing research interest in using short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs) including butyrate as potential alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters in animal production. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of supplementation of sodium butyrate(SB) in liquid feeds(milk, milk replacer, and the mixture of both)on the growth performance, rumen fermentation, and serum antioxidant capacity and immunoglobins in dairy calves before weaning. Forty healthy female Holstein calves(4-day-old, 40 ± 5 kg of body weight) were housed in individual hutches and randomly allocated to 1 of 4 treatment groups(n = 10 per group) using the RAND function in Excel. The control group was fed no SB(SB0), while the other three groups were supplemented with 15(SB15),30(SB30), or 45(SB45) g/d of SB mixed into liquid feeds offered. The calves were initially fed milk only(days 2 to 20), then a mixture of milk and milk replacer(days 21 to 23), and finally milk replacer only(days 24 to 60).Results: The SB supplementation enhanced growth and improved feed conversion into body weight gain compared with the SB0 group, and the average daily gain increased quadratically with increasing SB supplementation. No significant effect on rumen pH;concentrations of NH_3-N, individual and total VFAs;or acetate:propionate(A:P) ratio was found during the whole experimental period. Serum glutathione peroxidase activity increased linearly with the increased SB supplementation, while the serum concentration of maleic dialdehyde linearly decreased. Serum concentrations of immunoglobulin A, immunoglobulin G, or immunoglobulin M were not affected by the SB supplementation during the whole experimental period.Conclusions: Under the conditions of this study, SB supplementation improved growth performance and antioxidant function in pre-weaned dairy calves. 17Research on the ecological risk of heavy metals in the soil around a Pb–Zn mine in the Huize County, China显示文摘The soil pollution by heavy metals was characterized in the mine tailings and surrounding soils of an old Pb–Zn mine in Huize County. Three hundred and ninety-six samples of agricultural and non-agricultural soil were analyzed for the total metal concentration by acid digestion and sixty-eight selected soil samples were used to determine the chemical fractionation of heavy metals with the modified BCR sequential extraction method. The pollution index of the heavy metals indices for As, Cd, Cr, Cu,Hg, Pb and Zn of non-agricultural soil and agricultural soils in the study area indicated the spreading of heavy metal pollution. Sequential extraction showed that most of Cd existed in an exchangeable form(31.2 %). The available content of Pb, Cu and Zn was mainly distributed in acid extractable fractions and Fe/Mn oxide fractions(27.9, 30 and 27.2 %), and Hg, As and Cr were mainly associated with residual fractions(90.4, 72.9 and 76.8 %). The risks of heavy metals were also evaluated by the risk assessment code(RAC) and potential ecological risk index, respectively. The results of RAC showed a medium and high risk of Cd(45.6 and 54.4 %), medium risk of Zn(100 %), low and medium risk of Cu(41.2 and 58.8 %), largely no risk of Hg(97.1 %), and mainly low risk of As and Pb(92.6and 91.8 %). The range of the potential ecological risk of soil was 58.2–1839.3, revealing a considerably high ecological risk in the study area, most likely related to acid mine drainage and the mining complexes located in the area. 18Insight-HXMT:China's First X-Ray Astronomical Satellite显示文摘The Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope(HXMT) satellite is the first X-ray astronomical satellite in China. Utilizing the 'direct demodulation image reconstruction method', HXMT will perform broad band(1-250 keV) survey of large sky areas in scanning mode, which can result in source detection characterized with high sensitivity and spatial resolution. Point observation is another key working mode of HXMT, and is specified for observations of galactic bright sources like X-Ray Binary(XRB) and others. Additionally, HXMT also has a powerful capability developed for monitoring gamma-ray bursts, which is quite unique in the world due to its energy coverage of 200 keV-3 MeV and largest detection area. The HXMT satellite was launched by a Long March 4 B(LM-4 B) rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on June 15, 2017. 19Effect of Silicon on Growth, Physiology, and Cadmium Translocation of Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) in Cadmium-Contaminated Soil显示文摘Silicon(Si) offers beneficial effect on plants under cadmium(Cd) stress such as promoting plant growth and increasing resistance to heavy metal toxicity. In this study, a pot experiment was performed to study the role of Si in alleviating Cd toxicity in tobacco(Nicotiana tabacum L.) plants on a yellow soil taken from Guiyang, China. Nine treatments consisting of three concentrations of Cd(0, 1, and 5 mg kg^(-1)) together with three Si levels(0, 1, and 4 g kg^(-1)) were established. Plant growth parameters, Cd concentration,and the malondialdehyde(MDA), chlorophyll, and carotenoid contents were determined 100 d after transplanting of tobacco seedlings.Application of exogenous Si enhanced the growth of tobacco plants under Cd stress. When 5 mg kg^(-1) Cd was added, Si addition at 1 and 4 g kg^(-1) increased root, stem, and leaf biomass by 26.1%–43.3%, 33.7%–43.8%, and 50.8%–69.9%, respectively, compared to Si addition at 0 g kg^(-1). With Si application, the transfer factor of Cd in tobacco from root to shoot under both 1 and 5 mg kg^(-1) Cd treatments decreased by 21%. The MDA contents in the Si-treated tobacco plants declined by 5.5%–17.1% compared to those in the non-Si-treated plants, indicating a higher Cd tolerance. Silicon application also increased the chlorophyll and carotenoid contents by 33.9%–41% and 25.8%–47.3% compared to the Cd only treatments.
