Wet Cupping Therapy Improves Local Blood Perfusion and Analgesic Effects in Patients with Nerve-Root Type Cervical Spondylosis显示文摘Objective: To observe wet cupping therapy(WCT) on local blood perfusion and analgesic effects in patients with nerve-root type cervical spondylosis(NT-CS). Methods: Fifty-seven NT-CS patients were randomly divided into WCT group and Jiaji acupoint-acupuncture(JA) group according a random number table. WCT group(30 cases) was treated with WCT for 10 min, and JA group(27 cases) was treated with acupuncture for 10 min. The treatment efficacies were evaluated with a Visual Analogue Scale(VAS). Blood perfusion at Dazhui(GV 14) and Jianjing(GB 21) acupoints(affected side) was observed with a laser speckle flowmetry, and its variations before and after treatment in both groups were compared as well. Results: In both groups, the VAS scores significantly decreased after the intervention(P<0.01), while the blood perfusion at the two acupoints significantly increased after intervention(P<0.05); however, the increasement magnitude caused by WCT was obvious compared with JA(P<0.05). Conclusion: WCT could improve analgesic effects in patients with NT-CS, which might be related to increasing local blood perfusion of acupunct points.MENG Xiang-wen WANG Ying PIAO Sheng-ai LV Wen-tao ZHU Cheng-hui MU Ming-yuan LI Dan-dan LIU Hua-peng GUO Yi 2018Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2018,24,11:33
Clinical observations on the treatment of prolapsing hemorrhoids with tissue selecting therapy显示文摘AIM:To compare the effects and postoperative complications between tissue selecting therapy stapler(TST)and Milligan-Morgan hemorrhoidectomy(M-M).METHODS:Four hundred and eighty patients with severe prolapsing hemorrhoids, who were admitted to the Shenyang Coloproctology Hospital between 2009and 2012,were randomly divided into observation(n=240)and control(n=240)groups.Hemorrhoidectomies were performed with TST in the observation group and with the M-M technique in the control group. The therapeutic effects, operation security, and postoperative complications in the two groups were compared. The immediate and long-term complications were assessed according to corresponding criteria.Pain was assessed on a visual analogue scale. The efficacy was assessed by specialized criteria. The follow-up was conducted one year after the operation.RESULTS:The total effective rates of the observation and control groups were 99.5%(217/218)and 98.6%(218/221)respectively;the difference was not statistically significant(P=0.322).Their were significant differences between observation and control groups in intraoperative blood loss(5.07±1.14 vs 2.45±0.57,P=0.000),pain(12 h after the surgery:5.08±1.62 vs 7.19±2.01,P=0.000;at first dressing change:2.64±0.87 vs 4.34±1.15,P=0.000;first defecation:3.91±1.47 vs 5.63±1.98,P=0.001),urine retention(n=22 vs n=47,P=0.001),anal pendant expansion after the surgery(2.35±0.56 vs 5.16±1.42,P=0.000),operation time(18.3±5.6 min vs 29.5±8.2 min,P=0.000),and the length of hospital stay(5.3±0.6 d vs 11.4±1.8 d,P=0.000).Moreover TST showed significant reductions compared to M-M in the rates of long-term complications such as fecal incontinence(n=3 vs n=16,P=0.003),difficult bowel movement(n=1 vs n=9,P=0.011),intractable pain(n=2 vs n=12,P=0.007),and anal discharge(n=3 vs n=23,P=0.000).CONCLUSION:TST for severe prolapsing hemorrhoids is a satisfactory technique for more rapid recovery, lower complication rates, and higher operation security.Zhi-Gang Wang Yong Zhang Xian-Dong Zeng Tie-Hui Zhang Qi-Dong Zhu De-Long Liu Yun-Yu Qiao Nan Mu Zhi-Tao Yin 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,8:33
Novel Strategy for Synthesis of High Quality CdTe Nanocrystals in Aqueous Solution显示文摘A novel aqueous route for the synthesis of high-quality CdTe nanocrystals(NCs) is presented in this article. With both glutathione(GSH) and cysteine[n(GSH):n(cysteine)=1:3] as stabilizers, high-quality CdTe NCs with controllable photoluminescence(PL) wavelength from 500 to 630 nm can be prepared within 4 h. As-prepared CdTe NCs show higher photoluminescence quantum yields(PLQY) compared with CdTe NCs prepared via other aqueous methods. When the fluorescent emission peak appeared in orange-red window, the PLQY reaches 70% or above at room temperature without any post-preparative treatment.YAN Yu-xi MU Ying FENG Guo-dong ZHANG Lei ZHU Lin-lin XU Ling YANG Rui JIN Qin-han 2008Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2008,24,1:21

Laser altimetry data of Chang'E-1 and the global lunar DEM model显示文摘The Laser AltiMeter (LAM), as one of the main payloads of Chang'E-1 probe, is used to measure the topography of the lunar surface. It performed the first measurement at 02:22 on November 28th, 2007. Up to December 4th 2008, the total number of measurements was approximately 9.12 million, covering the whole surface of the Moon. Using the LAM data, we constructed a global lunar Digtal Elevation Model (DEM) with 3 km spatial resolution. The model shows pronounced morphological characteristics, legible and vivid details of the lunar surface. The plane positioning accuracy of the DEM is 445 m (1σ), and the vertical accuracy is 60 m (1σ). From this DEM model, we measured the full range of the altitude difference on the lunar sur-face, which is about 19.807 km. The highest point is 10.629 km high, on a peak between crater Korolev and crater Dirichlet-Jackson at (158.656°W, 5.441°N) and the lowest point is -9.178 km in height, inside crater Antoniadi (172.413°W, 70.368°S) in the South Pole-Aitken Basin. By comparison, the DEM model of Chang'E-1 is better than the USA ULCN2005 in accuracy and resolution and is probably identical to the DEM of Japan SELENE, but the DEM of Chang'E-1 reveals a new lowest point, clearly lower than that of SELENE.LI ChunLai1, REN Xin1, LIU JianJun1, ZOU XiaoDuan1, MU LingLi1, WANG JianYu2, SHU Rong2, ZOU YongLiao1, ZHANG HongBo1, Lü Chang1, LIU JianZhong1, ZUO Wei1, SU Yan1, WEN WeiBin1, BIAN Wei1, WANG Min1, XU Chun1, KONG DeQing1, WANG XiaoQian1, WANG Fang1, GENG Liang1, ZHANG ZhouBin1, ZHENG Lei1, ZHU XinYing1, LI JunDuo1 & OUYANG ZiYuan1 1 National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100012, China 2 Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai 200083, China 2010Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,11:19
Efficacy and safety of metformin and sitagliptin based triple antihyperglycemic therapy(STRATEGY):a multicenter,randomized,controlled,non-inferiority clinical trial显示文摘Despite the current guideline's recommendation of a timely stepwise intensification therapy, the 'clinical inertia',termed as the delayed treatment intensification, commonly exists in the real world, which may be partly due to the relatively little substantial evidence and no clear consensus regarding the efficacy and safety of triple oral agents in patients inadequately controlled with dual therapy. In this clinical trial performed in 237 centers in China,5,535 type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled by previous therapies were treated with a stable metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy for 20 weeks. The patients who did not reach the glycated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) goal were then further randomized into glimepiride, gliclazide, repaglinide,or acarbose group for an additional 24-week triple therapy.A mean HbAlc reduction of 0.85%was observed when sitagliptin was added to the patients inadequately controlled with metformin in 16 weeks.Further HbAlc reductions in the 24-week triple therapy stage were 0.65%in glimepiride group,0.70%in gliclazide group,0.61%in repaglinide group, and 0.45%in acarbose group. The non-inferiority criterion for primary hypotheses was met for gliclazide and repaglinide, but not for acarbose, compared with glimepiride, when added to metformin/sitagliptin dual therapy. The incidences of adverse events(AEs) were 29.2%in the dual therapy stage and30.3%in the triple therapy stage.Metformin/sitagliptin as baseline therapy, with the addition of a third oral antihyperglycemic agent, including glimepiride, gliclazide, repaglinide,or acarbose, was effective, safe and well-tolerated for achieving an HbAlc<7.0%goal in type 2 diabetic patients inadequately controlled with previous therapies. The timely augmentation of up to three oral antihyperglycemic agents is valid and of important clinical benefit to prevent patients from exposure to unnecessarily prolonged hyperglycemia.Wen Xu Yiming Mu Jiajun Zhao Dalong Zhu Qiuhe Ji Zhiguang Zhou Bin Yao Anhua Mao Samuel S.Engel Bin Zhao Yan Bi Longyi Zeng Xingwu Ran Juming Lu Linong Ji Wenying Yang Weiping Jia Jianping Weng 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,3:19
Bone morphogenetic protein-7 represses hepatic stellate cell activation and liver fibrosis via regulation of TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway显示文摘BACKGROUND Liver fibrosis is a refractory disease whose persistence can eventually induce cirrhosis or even liver cancer.Early liver fibrosis is reversible by intervention. As a member of the transforming growth factor-beta(TGF-β)superfamily,bone morphogenetic protein 7(BMP7)has anti-liver fibrosis functions. However, little is known about BMP7 expression changes and its potential regulatory mechanism as well as the relationship between BMP7 and TGF-βduring liver fibrosis. In addition, the mechanism underlying the anti-liver fibrosis function of BMP7 needs to be further explored.AIM To investigate changes in the dynamic expression of BMP7 during liver fibrosis, interactions between BMP7 and TGF-β1,and possible mechanisms underlying the anti-liver fibrosis function of BMP7.METHODS Changes in BMP7 expression during liver fibrosis and the interaction between BMP7 and TGF-β1 in mice were observed.Exogenous BMP7 was used to treat mouse primary hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)to observe its effect on activation, migration, and proliferation of HSCs and explore the possible mechanism underlying the anti-liver fibrosis function of BMP7.Mice with liver fibrosis received exogenous BMP7 intervention to observe improvement of liver fibrosis by using Masson’s trichrome staining and detecting the expression of the HSC activation indicator alpha-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA)and the collagen formation associated protein type I collagen(Col I).Changes in the dynamic expression of BMP7 during liver fibrosis in the human body were further observed.RESULTS In the process of liver fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)in mice,BMP7 protein expression first increased, followed by a decrease;there was a similar trend in the human body. This process was accompanied by a sustained increase in TGF-β1 protein expression. In vitro experiment results showed that TGF-β1 inhibited BMP7 expression in a time-and dose-dependent manner. In contrast, high doses of exogenous BMP7 inhibited TGF-β1-induced activation, migration, and proliferation of HSCs;this inhibitory effect was associated with upregulation of pSmad1/5/8 and downregulation of phosphorylation of Smad3 and p38 by BMP7.In vivo experiment results showed that exogenous BMP7 improved liver fibrosis in mice.CONCLUSION During liver fibrosis,BMP7 protein expression first increases and then decreases. This changing trend is associated with inhibition of BMP7 expression by sustained upregulation of TGF-β1 in a time-and dose-dependent manner.Exogenous BMP7 could selectively regulate TGF-β/Smad pathway-associated factors to inhibit activation, migration, and proliferation of HSCs and exert antiliver fibrosis functions.Exogenous BMP7 has the potential to be used as an antiliver fibrosis drug.Gao-Liang Zou Shi Zuo Shuang Lu Rui-Han Hu Yin-Ying Lu Jing Yang Kai-Sheng Deng Ye-Ting Wu Mao Mu Juan-Juan Zhu Jing-Zhang Zeng Bao-Fang Zhang Xian Wu Xue-Ke Zhao Hai-Yang Li 2019World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,30:15
Astragaloside Ⅳ inhibits pathological functions of gastric cancer-associated fibroblasts显示文摘AIM To investigate the inhibitory effect of astragaloside IV on the pathological functions of cancer-associated fibroblasts, and to explore the underlying mechanism.METHODS Paired gastric normal fibroblast(GNF) and gastric cancer-associated fibroblast(GCAF) cultures were established from resected tissues. GCAFs were treated with vehicle control or different concentrations of astragaloside Ⅳ. Conditioned media were prepared from GNFs,GCAFs,control-treated GCAFs,and astragaloside Ⅳ-treated GCAFs,and used to culture BGC-823 human gastric cancer cells. Proliferation, migration and invasion capacities of BGC-823 cells were determined by MTT,wound healing, and Transwell invasion assays, respectively. The action mechanism of astragaloside Ⅳ was investigated by detecting the expression of micro RNAs and the expression and secretion of the oncogenic factor, macrophage colonystimulating factor(M-CSF),and the tumor suppressive factor, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2(TIMP2),in different groups of GCAFs. The expression of the oncogenic pluripotency factors SOX2 and NANOG in BGC-823 cells cultured with different conditioned media was also examined.RESULTS GCAFs displayed higher capacities to induce BGC-823 cell proliferation, migration, and invasion than GNFs(P < 0.01). Astragaloside Ⅳ treatment strongly inhibited the proliferation-,migration-and invasion-promoting capacities of GCAFs(P < 0.05 for 10 μmol/L,P < 0.01 for 20 μmol/L and 40 μmol/L). Compared with GNFs,GCAFs expressed a lower level of micro RNA-214(P < 0.01) and a higher level of micro RNA-301 a(P < 0.01). Astragaloside Ⅳ treatment significantly upregulated micro RNA-214 expression(P < 0.01) and down-regulated micro RNA-301 a expression(P < 0.01) in GCAFs. Reestablishing the micro RNA expression balance subsequently suppressed M-CSF production(P < 0.01) and secretion(P < 0.05),and elevated TIMP2 production(P < 0.01) and secretion(P < 0.05). Consequently, the ability of GCAFs to increase SOX2 and NANOG expression in BGC-823 cells was abolished by astragaloside Ⅳ.CONCLUSION Astragaloside Ⅳ can inhibit the pathological functions of GCAFs by correcting their dysregulation of micro RNA expression, and it is promisingly a potent therapeutic agent regulating tumor microenvironment.Zhen-Fei Wang Da-Guang Ma Zhe Zhu Yong-Ping Mu Yong-Yan Yang Li Feng Hao Yang Jun-Qing Liang Yong-Yan Liu Li Liu Hai-Wen Lu 2017World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,48:15
Nitrous oxide emissions from a maize field during two consecutive growing seasons in the North China Plain显示文摘Nitrous oxide (N 2 O) emissions from a maize field in the North China Plain (Wangdu County,Hebei Province,China) were investigated using static chambers during two consecutive maize growing seasons in the 2008 and 2009.The N 2 O pulse emissions occurred with duration of about 10 days after basal and additional fertilizer applications in the both years. The average N 2 O fluxes from the CK (control plot, without crop, fertilization and irrigation),NP (chemical N fertilizer),SN (wheat straw returning plus chemical N fertilizer),OM- 1/2N (chicken manure plus half chemical N fertilizer) and OMN (chicken manure plus chemical N fertilizer) plots in 2008 were 8.51,72.1,76.6,101,107 ng N/(m 2 ·sec),respectively, and in 2009 were 33.7,30.0 and 35.0 ng N/(m 2 ·sec) from CK,NP and SN plots, respectively. The emission factors of the applied fertilizer as N 2 O-N (EFs) were 3.8% (2008) and 1.1% (2009) for the NP plot,3.2% (2008) and 1.2% (2009) for the SN plot, and 2.8% and 2.2% in 2008 for the OM-1/2N and OMN plots, respectively.Hydromorphic properties of the investigated soil (with gley) are in favor of denitrification. The large differences of the soil temperature and water-filled pore space (WFPS) between the two maize seasons were suspected to be responsible for the significant yearly variations.Compared with the treatments of NP and SN,chicken manure coupled with compound fertilizer application significantly reduced fertilizer loss rate as N 2 O-N.Yuanyuan Zhang Junfeng Liu Yujing Mu Zhu Xu Shuwei Pei Xiaoxiu Lun Ying Zhang 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,1:15
Overexpression of potato miR482e enhanced plant sensitivity to Verticillium dahliae infection显示文摘Verticillium wilt of potato is caused by the fungus pathogen Verticillium dahliae. Present s RNA sequencing data revealed that miR482 was in response to V. dahliae infection but the function in potato is elusive. Here, we characterized potato miR482 family and its putative role resistance to Verticillium wilt. Members of the potato mi R482 superfamily are variable in sequence, but all variants target a class of disease-resistance proteins with nucleotide binding site(NBS)and leucine-rich repeat(LRR) motifs. When potato plantlets were infected with V. dahliae, the expression level of miR482e was downregulated, and that of several NBS-LRR targets of miR482e were upregulated. Transgenic potato plantlets overexpressing miR482e showed hypersensitivity to V. dahliae infection. Using s RNA and degradome datasets, we validated that miR482e targets m RNAs of NBS-LRR disease-resistance proteins and triggers the production of trans-acting(ta)si RNAs, most of which target m RNAs of defense-related proteins. Thus, the hypersensitivity of transgenic potato could be explained by enhanced miR482e and miR482e-derived tasi RNA-mediated silencing on NBS-LRR-disease-resistance proteins. It is speculated that a miR482-mediated silencing cascade mechanism is involved in regulating potato resistance against V. dahliae infection and could be a counter defense action of plant in response to pathogen infection.Liu Yang Xiaoying Mu Chao Liu Jinghui Cai Ke Shi Wenjiao Zhu Qing Yang 2015Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2015,57,12:14
Antagonistic Activities of Volatiles from Four Strains of Bacillus spp. and Paenibacillus spp. Against Soil-Borne Plant Pathogens显示文摘The four effective antagonistic Bacillus strains, isolated from the rhizosphere soil of cucumber in a greenhouse, produced antifungal volatiles. These volatiles strongly inhibited the growth of the most tested pathogenic fungi with wide host plants, induced the mycelial morphological abnormalities, and decreased the sclerotoid production of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in sealed plates. Spores of Botrytis cinerea exposed to these volatiles for 24-48 h in cavity slides cracked and the sporaceous inclusion became brown and effused to the suspension. An interesting phenomenon observed was that all the bacterial volatiles exhibited intense inhibitory activities against the pigment formation of tested pathogenic fungi, including Ascochyta citrullina,Alternaria solani,Alternaria brassicae, and so on. Interactions mediated by microbial volatiles could be widespread in soils, and volatiles may play an important role in reducing disease levels. A phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rDNA sequence placed the four bacteria in three species Paenibacillus polymyxa (BMP-11),Bacillus subtilis (BL02),and Bacillus pumilus (BSH-4 and ZB13). Through headspace sampling and GC-MS analysis,a rich profile was found from B. subtilis and overlapping volatile patterns could be found among the different species. Studies are under the way to find the possible action mechanisms and to seek the effective application of bacterial volatiles in greenhouse.LIU Wei-wei MU Wei ZHU Bing-yu DU You-chen LIU Feng 2008Agricultural Sciences in China2008,7,9:11

Inflammatory biomarkers and cerebral small vessel disease:a community-based cohort study显示文摘Background and purpose Although inflammation has been proposed to be a candidate risk factor for cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD),previous findings remain largely inconclusive and vary according to disease status and study designs. The present study aimed to investigate possible associations between inflammatory biomarkers and MRI markers of CSVD.Methods A group of 15 serum inflammatory biomarkers representing a variety of those putatively involved in the inflammatory cascade was grouped and assessed in a cross-sectional study involving 960 stroke-free subjects. The biomarker panel was grouped as follows:systemic inflammation(high-sensitivity C reactive protein(hsCRP),interleukin 6 and tumour necrosis factorα),endothelial-related inflammation(E-selectin,P-selectin,intercellular adhesion molecule 1,vascular cell adhesion molecule 1(VCAM-1),CD40 ligand,lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2,chitinase-3-like 1 protein and total homocysteine(tHCY))and media-related inflammation(matrix metalloproteinases 2,3 and 9,and osteopontin). The association(s)between different inflammatory groups and white matter hyperintensity(WMH),lacunes, cerebral microbleeds(CMBs),enlarged perivascular space(PVS)and the number of deep medullary veins(DMVs)were investigated. Results High levels of serum endothelial-related inflammatory biomarkers were associated with both increased WMH volume(R^(2)=0.435,p=0.015)and the presence of lacunes(R^(2)=0.254,p=0.027).Backward stepwise elimination of individual inflammatory biomarkers for endothelial-related biomarkers revealed that VCAM-1 was significant for WMH(β=0.063,p=0.005)and tHCY was significant for lacunes(β=0.069,p<0.001).There was no association between any group of inflammatory biomarkers and CMBs or PVS.Systemic inflammatory biomarkers were associated with fewer DMVs(R^(2)=0.032,p=0.006),and backward stepwise elimination of individual systemic-related inflammatory biomarkers revealed that hsCRP(β=−0.162,p=0.007)was significant. Conclusion WMH and lacunes were associated with endothelial-related inflammatory biomarkers, and fewer DMVs were associated with systemic inflammation, thus suggesting different underlying inflammatory processes and mechanisms.Ding-Ding Zhang Yuan Cao Jing-Yu Mu Yi-Ming Liu Feng Gao Fei Han Fei-Fei Zhai Li-Xin Zhou Jun Ni Ming Yao Ming-Li Li Zheng-Yu Jin Shu-Yang Zhang Li-Ying Cui Yong Shen Yi-Cheng Zhu 2022Stroke & Vascular Neurology2022,7,4:11
Liquid propellant analogy technique in dynamic modeling of launch vehicle显示文摘The coupling effects among lateral mode, longitudinal mode and torsional mode of a launch vehicle cannot be taken into account in traditional dynamic analysis using lateral beam model and longitudinal spring-mass model individually. To deal with the problem, propellant analogy methods based on beam model are proposed and coupled mass-matrix of liquid propellant is constructed through additional mass in the present study. Then an integrated model of launch vehicle for free vibration analysis is established,by which research on the interactions between longitudinal and lateral modes, longitudinal and torsional modes of the launch vehicle can be implemented.Numerical examples for tandem tanks validate the present method and its necessity.PAN ZhongWen 1,2 ,XING YuFeng 1 ,ZHU LiWen 2 ,DONG Kai 2 &SUN Mu 2 1Solid Mechanics Research Center,Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics,Beijing 100191,China 2 Beijing Astronautics Systems Engineering Institute,Beijing 100076,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,8:11
Effect of Danshao Huaxian capsule on Gremlin and bone morphogenetic protein-7 expression in hepatic fibrosis in rats显示文摘AIM:To observe the effect of Danshao Huaxian capsule(DHC)on the expression of Gremlin and bone morphogenetic protein-7(BMP-7)in the liver of hepatic fibrosis rats.METHODS:A total of 75 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into a normal control group(A),a CCl4-induced hepatic fibrosis model group(B),a natural recovery group(C),a low-dose DHC-treated group(D),and a high-dose DHC-treated group(E),with 15 rats in each group.Liver fibrosis was induced by subcutaneous injections of carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)and a highlipid/low-protein diet for 8 wk,except for the rats in group A.Then, the rats in the two DHC-treated groups were administered 0.5 and 1.0 g/kg DHC by gastrogavage once per day for 8 successive weeks, respectively.By the end of the experiment, the level of transforming growth factorβ1(TGF-β1)in the liver homogenate was determined by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The mRNA and protein expression of Gremlin and BMP-7 in the liver tissue was determined by reversetranscription polymerase chain reaction,an immunohistochemical assay, and Western blot analysis.RESULTS:Compared with group A,the level of TGF-β1and the mRNA and protein expression of Gremlin were significantly higher in group B(TGF-β1:736.30±24.40μg/g vs 284.20±18.32μg/g,P<0.01;mRNA of Gremlin:80.40±5.46 vs 49.83±4.20,P<0.01;positive protein expression rate of Gremlin:38.46%±1.70%vs 3.83%±0.88%,P<0.01;relative protein expression of Gremlin:2.81±0.24 vs 0.24±0.06,P<0.01),and the mRNA and protein expression of BMP-7was significantly lower in group B(mRNA:54.00±4.34vs 93.99±7.03,P<0.01;positive protein expression rate:28.97%±3.14%vs 58.29%±6.02,P<0.01;relative protein expression:0.48±0.31 vs 1.05±0.12,P<0.01).Compared with groups B and C,the degree of hepatic fibrosis was significantly improved, and the level of TGF-β1 and the mRNA and protein expression of Gremlin were significantly lowered in the two DHCtreated groups(TGF-β1:523.14±21.29μg/g,441.86±23.18μg/g vs 736.30±24.40μg/g,651.13±15.75μg/g,P<0.01;mRNA of Gremlin:64.86±2.83,55.82±5.39 vs 80.40±5.46,70.37±4.01,P<0.01;positive protein expression rate of Gremlin:20.78%±1.60%,17.43%±2.02%vs 38.46%±1.70%,29.50%±2.64%,P<0.01;relative protein expression of Gremlin:1.95±0.26,1.65±0.20 vs 2.81±0.24,2.22±0.63,P<0.01),and the mRNA and protein expression of BMP-7 was higher in the two DHC-treated groups(mRNA:73.52±4.56,81.78±5.38 vs 54.00±4.34,62.28±4.51,P<0.01;positive protein expression rate:41.44%±4.77%,47.49%±4.59%vs28.97%±3.14%,35.85%±3.50%,P<0.01;relative protein expression:0.71±0.06,0.81±0.07 vs 0.48±CONCLUSION:The therapeutic mechanism of DHC forhepatic fibrosis in rats may be associated with inhibitionof the expression of Gremlin and up-regulation of the expression of BMP-7.Xue-Ke Zhao Ming-Liang Cheng Rong-Min Wu Yu-Mei Yao Mao Mu Juan-Juan Zhu Bao-Fang Zhang Ming-Yu Zhou 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,40:11
Concentrations and gas-particle partitioning of PCDD/Fs in the urban air of Dalian,China显示文摘PCDD/Fs in the urban air of Dalian,China were monitored with high-volume active sampler from November 2009 to October 2010.The concentration of Cl 4-8 DD/Fs ranged from 3065 to 49538 fg m-3,with an average of 10249 fg m-3.The international toxic equivalents(I-TEQ) value of that was 61.8 1182 fg m-3,with an average of 235 fg m-3,which was comparable to those in the other urban locations around the world. It was found that the Cl 4 8 DD/Fs appeared to be present mainly in the particle phase during winter, spring and autumn, while during summer which were dominantly in gas phase. The ratio of Cl 4-8 DD/Fs present in particle phase increased with the increasing level of chlorination. The concentrations of PCDFs and PCDDs decreased with the increase of chlorinated level, while the concentrations of 2,3,7,8-PCDDs congeners increased with the increase of chlorination level. The homolog profiles of the concentrations of PCDFs presented were higher than those of the PCDDs,which indicated the PCDD/Fs pollution source of the air in Dalian was characteristic for thermal source pollution. The correlation analysis of meteorological parameters with the concentrations of Cl 4-8 CDD/Fs was conducted using SPSS packages, and it was found that the ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure were important factors influence the concentration of PCDD/Fs in the air.The respiratory risk and intake dioxins of the residents around the sampling sites were studied in the paper. It was found that Junge-Pankow model was much more accurate in predicting the gas-particle partitioning behavior of PCDD/Fs homologues during winter, while the Harner-Bidleman model shows better agreement with the measured data during winter and summer.QIN SongTao ZHU XiuHua WANG Wei CHEN JiPing NI YuWen LI XiaoXiao MU Jun Xu Qian SCHRAMM Karl-Werner 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,26:10
Plasma metabolomic and lipidomic alterations associated with COVID-19显示文摘The pandemic of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has become a global public health crisis. The symptoms of COVID-19 range from mild to severe, but the physiological changes associated with COVID-19 are barely understood. In this study,we performed targeted metabolomic and lipidomic analyses of plasma from a cohort of patients with COVID-19 who had experienced different symptoms. We found that metabolite and lipid alterations exhibit apparent correlation with the course of disease in these patients, indicating that the development of COVID-19 affected their whole-body metabolism. In particular, malic acid of the TCA cycle and carbamoyl phosphate of the urea cycle result in altered energy metabolism and hepatic dysfunction, respectively. It should be noted that carbamoyl phosphate is profoundly down-regulated in patients who died compared with patients with mild symptoms. And,more importantly, guanosine monophosphate(GMP),which is mediated not only by GMP synthase but also by CD39 and CD73,is significantly changed between healthy subjects and patients with COVID-19,as well as between the mild and fatal cases. In addition, dyslipidemia was observed in patients with COVID-19.Overall,the disturbed metabolic patterns have been found to align with the progress and severity of COVID-19.This work provides valuable knowledge about plasma biomarkers associated with COVID-19 and potential therapeutic targets,as well as an important resource for further studies of the pathogenesis of COVID-19.Di Wu Ting Shu Xiaobo Yang Jian-Xin Song Mingliang Zhang Chengye Yao Wen Liu Muhan Huang Yuan Yu Qingyu Yang Tingju Zhu Jiqian Xu Jingfang Mu Yaxin Wang Hong Wang Tang Tang Yujie Ren Yongran Wu Shu-Hai Lin Yang Qiu Ding-Yu Zhang You Shang Xi Zhou 2020National Science Review2020,7,7:9
Sini powder ameliorates the inflammatory response in rats with stress-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by inhibiting the nuclear factor kappa-B/pyrin domain-containing protein 3 pathway显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of Sini powder for the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) in rats and the molecular mechanisms involved.METHODS: A rat model of stress-induced NAFLD was established by a combination of long-term tethering and feeding of a high-fat, high-calorie diet. These rats were then intragastrically administered with either simvastatin, Sini powder, or vehicle for 1 week. The body mass and field test scores for each group were recorded weekly. Serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase activities, and triglyceride, total cholesterol, and free fatty acid concentrations were measured.Liver tissue histopathology was examined on hematoxylin and eosin-stained paraffin sections and oil red O-stained frozen sections. The hepatic m RNA expression of nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB),NOD-, LRR-, and pyrin domain-containing protein 3(NLRP3), apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing CARD(ASC), and caspase-1 were measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). The hepatic protein concentrations of NF-κB and NLRP3, ASC, caspase-1, interleukin-1β(IL-1β), interleukin-6(IL-6), and the serum concentrations of IL-1β and IL-6 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS: Compared with the Blank group, rats in the Compound model group showed significant pathologic manifestations of NAFLD, and the expression of NF-κB, NLRP3, ASC, caspase-1, IL-1βand IL-6 were significantly higher(all P < 0.01). Both simvastatin and Sini powder significantly ameliorated the NAFLD pathology and the abnormal expression of NF-κB, NLRP3, ASC, caspase-1, IL-1β, and IL-6(all P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: Sini powder inhibits the inflamma-tory response in rats with NAFLD, which is mediated by NF-κB/NLRP3, IL-1β, and IL-6, reduces the effects of psychological stress, and improves lipid metabolism. Therefore, Sini powder may be effective for the treatment of stress-related NAFLD through multiple mechanisms.Mu Jie Cheng Fafeng Wang Qingguo Wang Xueqian Zhu Wenxiang Ma Chongyang Yin Xiangjun Ren Beida Lian Yajun Du Xin Zhang Haixia Liu Shuling Zhang Shuang 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,2:9
Pathological and High Resolution CT Findings in Churg-Strauss Syndrome显示文摘Objective To investigate the Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) associated lung involvement, concentrating on clinical characteristics, pathological findings of lung involvements, response to treatment, and prognosis. Methods We retrospectively analyzed the characters of the clinical manifestations,thin-section CT and pathological findings of CSS.The study involved 16 patients.Clinical data were obtained by chart review. All patients underwent transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB).Six of them underwent surgical lung biopsy as well. Results The patients included 7 men and 9 women, aged from 14 to 61 years (median,47.5 years).Extrathoracic organs involved included nervous system (7/16) and skin (5/16).Respiratory symptoms included cough (12/16),exertional dyspnea (11/16),hemoptysis (4/16),and chest pain (3/16).CT findings included bilateral ground-glass opacities (12/16),bilateral patchy opacities (12/16),and centrilobular nodules (6/16).The pathological findings of TBLB demonstrated increased eosinophils (3/16),vasculitis (3/16),and interstitial pneumonia (16/16).The pathological findings of surgical lung biopsy of 6 cases showed necrotizing vasculitis in 4 cases, capillaries in 5,eosinophilic pneumonia in 3,granulomas in 2,and airway abnormalities in 3.All patients improved in symptoms after therapy during the study period (range,3 to 51 months;median,15 months). Conclusions Asthma may be present in CSS patient when there is bronchial involvement.Ground-glass opacities and consolidation seen on high-resolution CT reflect the presence of eosinophilic pneumonia, vasculitis, and pulmonary alveolar hemorrhage.TBLB has significant limitations for the diagnosis of CSS.Early diagnosis and therapy can result in satisfactory prognosis.Rui-e Feng Wen-bing Xu Ju-hong Shi Artin Mahmoudi Wen-bing MU Wen-jie Zheng Yuan-jue Zhu Hong-rui Liu 2011Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2011,26,1:8
