| 1 | Clinical and biochemical indexes from 2019-nCoV infected patients linked to viral loads and lung injury显示文摘The outbreak of the 2019-nCoV infection began in December 2019 in Wuhan,Hubei province,and rapidly spread to many provinces in China as well as other countries.Here we report the epidemiological,clinical,laboratory,and radiological characteristics,as well as potential biomarkers for predicting disease severity in 2019-nCoV-infected patients in Shenzhen,China.All 12 cases of the 2019-nCoV-infected patients developed pneumonia and half of them developed acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).The most common laboratory abnormalities were hypoalbuminemia,lymphopenia,decreased percentage of lymphocytes (LYM) and neutrophils (NEU),elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH),and decreased CD8 count.The viral load of 2019-nCoV detected from patient respiratory tracts was positively linked to lung disease severity.ALB,LYM,LYM (%),LDH,NEU (%),and CRP were highly correlated to the acute lung injury.Age,viral load,lung injury score,and blood biochemistry indexes,albumin (ALB),CRP,LDH,LYM (%),LYM,and NEU (%),may be predictors of disease severity.Moreover,the Angiotensin Ⅱlevel in the plasma sample from 2019-nCoV infected patients was markedly elevated and linearly associated to viral load and lung injury.Our results suggest a number of potential diagnosis biomarkers and angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) drugs for potential repurposing treatment of 2019-nCoV infection. | Yingxia Liu Yang Yang Cong Zhang Fengming Huang Fuxiang Wang Jing Yuan Zhaoqin Wang Jinxiu Li Jianming Li Cheng Feng Zheng Zhang Lifei Wang Ling Peng Li Chen Yuhao Qin Dandan Zhao Shuguang Tan Lu Yin Jun Xu Congzhao Zhou Chengyu Jiang Lei Liu | 2020 | Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,3: | 157 |
| 2 | Future Physics Programme of BESⅢ显示文摘There has recently been a dramatic renewal of interest in hadron spectroscopy and charm physics. This renaissance has been driven in part by the discovery of a plethora of charmonium-like XYZ states at BESⅢ and B factories, and the observation of an intriguing proton-antiproton threshold enhancement and the possibly related X(1835) meson state at BESⅢ, as well as the threshold measurements of charm mesons and charm baryons. We present a detailed survey of the important topics in tau-charm physics and hadron physics that can be further explored at BESⅢ during the remaining operation period of BEPCⅡ. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. | 6 | Ideal cardiovascular health and incidence of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease among Chinese adults:the China-PAR project显示文摘Existing evidence on the relationship between cardiovascular health(CVH) metrics and cardiovascular disease(CVD) was primarily derived from western populations. We aimed to evaluate the benefits of ideal CVH metrics on preventing incident atherosclerotic CVD(ASCVD) in Chinese population. This study was conducted among 93,987 adults from the China-PAR project(Prediction for ASCVD Risk in China) who were followed up until 2015. Cox proportional hazard regression models were used to estimate the hazard ratios(HRs) and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals(CIs) of CVH metrics for the risk of ASCVD, including coronary heart disease(CHD), stroke and ASCVD death. We further estimated the population-attributable risk percentage(PAR%) of these metrics in relation to each outcome. We observed gradient inverse associations between the number of ideal CVH metrics and ASCVD incidence. Compared with participants having ≤2 ideal CVH metrics, the multivariable-adjusted HRs(95% CIs) of ASCVD for those with 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 ideal CVH metrics were 0.83(0.74–0.93), 0.66(0.59–0.74), 0.55(0.48–0.61), 0.44(0.38–0.50) and 0.24(0.18–0.31), respectively(P for trend <0.0001). Approximately 62.1% of total ASCVD, 38.7% of CHD, 66.4% of stroke, and 60.5% of ASCVD death were attributable to not achieving all the seven ideal CVH metrics. After adjusting effects of ideal health factors, having four ideal health behaviors could independently bring adults health benefits in preventing 17.4% of ASCVD, 18.0% of CHD, 16.7% of stroke, and 10.1% of ASCVD death. Among all the seven CVH metrics, to keep with ideal blood pressure(BP) implied the largest public health gains against various ASCVD events(PAR% between 33.0% and 47.2%), while ideal diet was the metric most difficult to be achieved in the long term. Our study indicates that the more ideal CVH metrics adults have, the less ASCVD burden there is in China. | 8 | Analysis of pesticide residues in commercially available chenpi using a modified QuEChERS method and GC-MS/MS determination显示文摘To ensure the safety of the commercially available chenpi,a convenient and fast analytical method was developed for the determination of 133 pesticide residues in chenpi using gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(GC-MS/MS).In this study,different extraction solvents,redissolution solvents and adsorbents were tested according to the recovery and purification effect to obtain a modified QuEChERS method.The samples were extracted with acetonitrile.During the clean-up step,octadecyl-modified silica(C18)and graphitized carbon black(GCB)were selected,and aminopropyl(NH2)was used instead of primary secondary amine(PSA)because of its weaker ion exchange capacity which had little effect on the recovery of ditalimfos.Samples were quantified by matrix-matched calibration with internal standards.All pesticides showed good linearity in the respective range,both with values of r2>0.99.The average recoveries of the pesticides spiked samples ranged from 70.0% to 112.2% with the RSDs of 0.2%–14.4%.The modified QuEChERS method was validated and applied to twenty real samples.Five pesticides were found in eight batches,but no pesticide exceeded the maximum residue limits(MRL,MRL reference to European commission). | Shuang Li Peipei Yu Ceng Zhou Ling Tong Dongxiang Li Zhiguo Yu Yunli Zhao | 2020 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2020,10,1: | 34 |

| 10 | Predicting lifetime risk for developing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in Chinese population:the China-PAR project显示文摘Evidence on the lifetime risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease(ASCVD) is insufficient;yet,estimating an individual's lifetime risk allows for a comprehensive assessment of ASCVD burden.We developed and validated lifetime risk prediction equations for ASCVD using four large and ongoing prospective cohorts of Chinese,the China-PAR project(Prediction for ASCVD Risk in China).Sexspecific equations were developed using two cohorts(as the derivation cohort) of 21,320 participants.Two other independent cohorts with 14,123 and 70,838 participants were used for their external validation,respectively.We evaluated both calibration and discrimination measures for model performance.Furthermore,we estimated ASCVD-free years lost or excess absolute risk attributable to high 10-year risk(!10.0%) and/or high lifetime risk(!32.8%).After 12.3 years' follow-up of the derivation cohort,1048 ASCVD events and 1304 non-ASCVD deaths were identified.Our sex-specific equations had good internal validation,with discriminant C statistics of 0.776(95% confidence interval [CI]:0.757–0.794) and 0.801(95% CI:0.778–0.825),and calibration χ~2 of 9.2(P = 0.418) and 5.6(P = 0.777) for men and women,respectively.Good external validation was also demonstrated with predicted rates closely matched to the observed ones.Compared with men having both low 10-year and low lifetime risk,men would develop ASCVD 3.0,4.6 and 8.6 years earlier if they had high 10-year risk alone,high lifetime risk alone,or both high 10-year and high lifetime risk at the index age of 35 years,respectively.We developed wellperformed lifetime risk prediction equations that will help to identify those with the greatest potential to avert ASCVD burden after implementation of innovative clinical and public health interventions in China. | Fangchao Liu Jianxin Li Jichun Chen Dongsheng Hu Ying Li Jianfeng Huang Xiaoqing Liu Xueli Yang Jie Cao Chong Shen Ling Yu Zhendong Liu Xianping Wu Liancheng Zhao Xigui Wu Dongfeng Gu Xiangfeng Lu | 2018 | Science Bulletin2018,63,12: | 30 |

| 12 | Possible early Neoproterozoic magmatism associated with slab window in the Pingshui segment of the Jiangshan-Shaoxing suture zone: Evidence from zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb geochronology and geochemistry显示文摘We report here geochemical data, U-Pb zircon ages, and Hf isotopes for the high-Mg diorites (HMDs), Nb-enriched basaltic porphyrys (NEBPs) and plagiogranites (PLAGs) in the Pingshui segment of the Jiangshan-Shaoxing suture zone. The HMDs are characterized by high Mg# (>60), high Na and LREE contents, depletion of HREE and HFSE, and pronounced positive εNd(t) values of 7.0 to 7.7, similar to some adakitic high-Mg andesites. The NEBPs are relatively Na-rich (Na2O/K2O>6) and display high abundances of P2O5 (~1.00%), TiO2 (~3.08%) and HFSE (e.g., Nb=9.53-10.27 ppm). Their Nd isotopic compositions (εNd(t)=6.8-8.0) are comparable to those of the HMDs. The PLAGs are metaluminous (A/CNK=0.84-0.89) and sodic (Na2O/K2O>10). Their depletion in HFSE (e.g., Nb, Ta) is consistent with 'SSZ-type' plagiogranite. Zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating yields an age of 932±7 Ma for the HMD, 916±6 Ma for the NEBP, and 902±5 Ma for the PLAG, respectively, indicating that they were products of early Neoproterozoic magmatism. The PLAGs exhibit relatively high zircon Hf isotopes and positive εHf(t) values of 11.0 to 16.2, consistent with their Nd isotopic data (εNd(t)=7.5-8.4). Such features are similar to those of oceanic plagiogranites in ophiolites and distinct from those of crust-derived granites. The PLAGs were most likely derived from partial melting of subducted oceanic crust in an active continental margin. Considering these results in the context of the regional geology, we suggest that a slab window in the subducting oceanic crust between the Yangtze Block and Cathaysia Block was possibly the principal cause for the unique arc magmatism in the area. This study determined the effects of dietary Clostridium butyricum supplementation on growth performance, diarrhea, and immunity of weaned pigs challenged with lipopolysaccharide(LPS).Methods: In Experiment(Exp.) 1,144 weaned piglets were weaned at 21 d and randomly assigned to six groups,with six replicates per group and four pigs per replicate, receiving a control diet(CON) or diet supplemented with antibiotics(AB) or C. butyricum(CB)(0.1%, 0.2%, 0.4%, or 0.8%), respectively. All diets in Exp. 1 were a highly digestible basal diet, with 3,000 mg/kg zinc oxide supplied in the first 2 wk only. In Exp. 2, 180 piglets were weaned at 21 d and randomly assigned to five groups, with six replicates per group and six pigs per replicate, receiving CON, AB, or CB(0.2%, 0.4%, or 0.6%) diets. The digestibility of diets was lower than those in Exp. 1, and did not include zinc oxide. At 36 d of Exp. 2, 12 piglets were selected from each of the CON and 0.4% CB groups, six piglets were intraperitoneally injected with LPS(50 μg/kg body weight) and the other six piglets with normal saline;animals were killed at 4 h after injection to collect blood, intestine, and digesta samples for biochemical analysis.Results: In Exp. 1, CB and AB diets had no effect on growth performance of piglets. In Exp. 2, 0.4% CB decreased feed-gain ratio(P < 0.1), diarrhea score(P < 0.05), and increased duodenal, jejunal, and ileal villus height and jejunal villus height/crypt depth(P < 0.05). The 0.4% CB decreased the plasma tumor necrosis factor(TNF) α(P < 0.05) but increased ileal mucosa IL-10 and TLR2 mRNA expression(P < 0.05). Furthermore, 0.4% CB altered the microbial profile, with Bacillus and Ruminococcaceae UGG-003 at genus level and Lactobacillus casei and Parasutterella secunda at species level were higher than CON in colonic content(P < 0.05).Conclusions: Dietary C. butyricum supplementation had positive effects on growth of weaned piglets with less digestible diets. There was a tendency to reduce the feed-gain ratio, which could reduce feed costs in pig production. | 14 | Hf isotopic composition of zircons from the Huashan-Guposhan intrusive complex and their mafic enclaves in northeastern Guangxi:Implication for petrogenesis显示文摘High precision zircon U-Pb dating indicates that main intrusive bodies (Tong'an,Niumiao,Huashan,Lisong),and a mafic microgranular enclave in the Huashan-Guposhan complex were formed at 160-163 Ma.The εHf(t) values of zircons from the Huashan granite vary from -2.8 to +0.3 and those from the Lisong granite vary from -2.3 to +0.3,which are obviously different with those values (+2.6 to +7.4) of the mafic enclaves from the Lisong granite.These Hf isotopic data indicate that the mafic enclaves and host granites were crystallized from different sources of magmas,providing evidence for mafic-felsic magma mixing processes.The highest εHf(t) value of zircons from the mafic enclaves is up to +7.4,indicating that the mafic magma was originated from a relatively depleted mantle source.Studies on regional geology and the contemporaneous mafic and alkaline rocks in this area indicate that the mafic magma was not originated from reworking of basaltic juvenile crust,but from partial melting of the mantle.However,it remains to be resolved whether the mafic magma was derived from partial melting of the asthenosphere or the lithospheric mantle.The Huashan granite and the Lisong granite were formed from hybrid magma of mantle-derived and crust-derived magmas,and the mafic enclaves are considered as remains of mantle-derived magma during mixing processes.The εHf(t) values of zircons from the Niumiao diorite vary from -1.1 to +2.1,and those from the Tong'an quartz monzonite vary from -1.7 to +1.7.These values are lower than those from the mafic enclaves,suggesting that the diorite and monzonite were formed from different source-derived magmas with the mafic enclaves.The εHf(t) values for the Niumiao diorite and the Tong'an monzonite are only slightly higher than those for the Hushan granite and the Lisong granite.Abundant mafic enclaves also occur in the Niumiao diorite and in the Tong'an monzonite.Thus,we suggest that the Niumiao diorite and the Tong'an monzonite were probably also formed from the same hybrid magma as the granites but come through less degree of fractional crystallization and crustal contamination.The strong mantle-derived and crust-derived magma mixing caused by an intense crustal extension and thinning in the Mid-Late Jurassic may be the major mechanism for generating the diorites and granites in southeastern Hunan and northeastern Guangxi belt in South China. | ZHAO KuiDong JIANG ShaoYong ZHU JinChu LI Liang DAI BaoZhang JIANG YaoHui LING HongFei | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,6: | 24 |
| 15 | Clinical observation on effect of scalp electroacupuncture for mild cognitive impairment显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of scalp electroacupuncture for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in the early stage. METHODS: Two hundred and thirty three MCI patients were randomly divided into three groups: the drug group, the scalp electroacupuncture group, and the syndrome differentiation group. For the scalp electroacupuncture group, the points of Baihui (DU 20), Sishecong (EX-HN1), Fengchi (GB 20), and Shenting (DU 24) were selected. For the syndrome differentiation group, specific acupoints were added on the basis of syndrome differentiation and according to the scale for the differentiation of syndromes in vascular dementia (SDSVD) beside the acupoints used in the scalp electroacupuncture group. For the drug group, nimodipine was orally administered. Each patient was treated for two courses, eight weeks. The score differences in minimental state examination (MMSE), picture recognition, and clock drawing test were observed before and after the treatment. RESULTS: After treatment, the score differences in MMSE and clock drawing test were of obvious statistical significance among three groups (P<0.01, P<0.05). The score differences in picture recognition were of extremely statistical significance between the scalp electroacupuncture group and the syndrome differentiation group (P<0.01), while the difference was not found in the drug group (P>0.05). There were statistical significant differences in therapeutic effects between the scalp electroacupuncture group and the drug group, and between the syndrome differentiation group and the drug group (P<0.05), while no statistical difference was found between scalp electroacupuncture group and the syndrome differentiation group (P>0.05). CONCLUSION: All the three therapies may improve the cognitive function of MCI patients. In China, plants have been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years. Recent development of molecular biology, genomics and functional genomics as well as high-throughput analytical chemical technologies has greatly promoted the research on medicinal plants. In this article, we review recent advances in the elucidation of biosynthesis of specialized metabolites in medicinal plants,including phenylpropanoids, terpenoids and alkaloids. These natural products may share a common upstream pathway to form a limited numbers of common precursors, but are characteristic in distinct modifications leading to highly variable structures. Although this review is focused on traditional Chinese medicine, other plants with a great medicinal interest or potential are also discussed. | 17 | Isolation and characterization of dengue virus serotype 2 from the large dengue outbreak in Guangdong, China in 2014显示文摘Dengue has been well recognized as a global public health threat,but only sporadic epidemics and imported cases were reported in recent decades in China.Since July 2014,an unexpected large dengue outbreak has occurred in Guangdong province,China,resulting in more than 40000 patients including six deaths.To clarify and characterize the causative agent of this outbreak,the acute phase serum from a patient diagnosed with severe dengue was subjected to virus isolation and high-throughput sequencing(HTS).Traditional real-time RT-PCR and HTS with Ion Torrent PGM detected the presence of dengue virus serotype 2(DENV-2).A clinical DENV-2 isolate GZ05/2014 was obtained by culturing the patient serum in mosquito C6/36 cells.The complete genome of GZ05/2014 was determined and deposited in Gen Bank under the access number KP012546.Phylogenetic analysis based on the complete envelope gene showed that the newly DENV-2 isolate belonged to Cosmopolitan genotype and clustered closely with other Guangdong strains isolated in the past decade.No amino acid mutations that are obviously known to increase virulence or replication were identified throughout the genome of GZ05/2014.The high homology of Guangdong DENV-2 strains indicated the possibility of establishment of local DENV-2 circulation in Guangdong,China.These results help clarify the origin of this epidemic and predict the future status of dengue in China. | ZHAO Hui ZHAO Ling Zhai JIANG Tao LI Xiao Feng FAN Hang HONG Wen Xin ZHANG Yu ZHU Qin YE Qing TONG Yi Gang CAO Wu Chun ZHANG Fu Chun QIN Cheng Feng | 2014 | Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,12: | 21 |
| 18 | Electroacupuncture for the prevention of postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction in patients undergoing vascular surgery under general anesthesia: study protocol for a prospective practical randomized controlled trial显示文摘BACKGROUND: Postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction(PGD) is one of the most common complications following major surgeries under general anesthesia(GA). Despite ongoing research and new drug treatments, abdominal distension within 24 h postoperatively occurs in 8%–28% of all surgeries. We aim to analyze the effectiveness of preventing PGD by preoperatively stimulating Neiguan(PC6), Zusanli(ST36) and Shangjuxu(ST37) bilaterally twice a day compared with sham-acupuncture treatment and standard treatment.METHODS AND DESIGN: This is a single-center, prospective practical randomized controlled trial. All groups will be given standard treatments. Patients undergoing vascular surgery under GA will be included from the Vascular Surgery Unit in West China Hospital of Sichuan University, China, and divided into three groups. The experimental group will receive routine treatments and acupuncture at PC6, ST36 and ST37 bilaterally with electrical stimulation twice a day for 20 min preoperatively. The sham-acupuncture group will receive pseudo-electroacupuncture at sham acupoints of PC6, ST36 and ST37, which are 1 cun away from the real acupoints. The routine-treatment group will not receive electroacupuncture. The outcomes include the incidence of abdominal distention, abdominal circumference, the degree of abdominal distension, the fi rst time of fl atus and defecation, and hospitalization duration. DISCUSSION: The results from this study will demonstrate whether preoperative electroacupuncture is an effective method for the prevention of PGD in patients undergoing vascular surgery under GA. This study may also provide a standardized acupuncture treatment for reduction of PGD.
