| 2 | The RNA-binding protein Musashi2 governs osteoblast-adipocyte lineage commitment by suppressing PPARγsignaling显示文摘Osteoporosis caused by aging is characterized by reduced bone mass and accumulated adipocytes in the bone marrow cavity. How the balance between osteoblastogenesis and adipogenesis from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) is lost upon aging is still unclear. Here, we found that the RNA-binding protein Musashi2(Msi2) regulates BMSC lineage commitment. Msi2 is commonly enriched in stem cells and tumor cells. We found that its expression was downregulated during adipogenic differentiation and upregulated during osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs. Msi2 knockout mice exhibited decreased bone mass with substantial accumulation of marrow adipocytes, similar to aging-induced osteoporosis. Depletion of Msi2 in BMSCs led to increased adipocyte commitment. Transcriptional profiling analysis revealed that Msi2 deficiency led to increased PPARγ signaling.RNA-interacting protein immunoprecipitation assays demonstrated that Msi2 could inhibit the translation of the key adipogenic factor Cebpα, thereby inhibiting PPAR signaling. Furthermore, the expression of Msi2 decreased significantly during the aging process of mice, indicating that decreased Msi2 function during aging contributes to abnormal accumulation of adipocytes in bone marrow and osteoporosis. However, formation mechanism of acid-sensitive of the reservoir cannot be interpreted by the existing acid-sensitive evaluation criterion based on damage rate. The contents of acid-sensitive minerals illustrated by bulk-rock XRD, scanning electron microscopy and clay mineral composition analysis exert the dominant control on acid-sensitive flow testing of the reservoir. The ironbearing minerals(including pyrite cements and chlorite cements) mainly deteriorate reservoir quality, while the iron-free minerals(including calcite cements and dolomite cements) mainly improve permeability. The permeability variation of the tested samples is controlled by the relative content of two acid-sensitive minerals. | 8 | Reliability-aware mapping for various No C topologies and routing algorithms under performance constraints显示文摘The flexibility of manycore systems to extensive applications is achieved by reconfiguring the interconnections between processing elements(PEs) and the function of PEs. The efficiency of the system is crucially determined by the mapping technique of applications. In this paper, a highly flexible reliability-aware application mapping approach is proposed for manycore network-on-chip(No C) systems. A reliability cost model(RCM) is first presented to measure the reliability cost for a mapping pattern. This model uses the binary number 0/1 to model the reliability cost of each communication path. The overall reliability cost of a mapping pattern is evaluated by taking the cost of each path as a discrete random variable. Based on RCM,a mapping method called reliability cost ratio based branch and bound(RCRBB) is used. With this method,the best mapping among all the possible patterns is found efficiently by discarding those nonoptimal candidate mappings at early stages. The proposed application mapping approach with reliability awareness is applicable to various No C topologies and routing algorithms, while other state-of-the-art approaches on the same topic are only limited to a specific topology and routing algorithm. Even for the same No C architecture, the proposed approach shows significant superiority in many aspects. Experiments show that RCRBB achieves up to 9.07%reliability enhancement on average. | 14 | Effects of plant diversity on greenhouse gas emissions in microcosms simulating vertical constructed wetlands with high ammonium loading显示文摘Wastewater with relatively high nitrogen concentrations is a major source of nitrous oxide(N_2O) and methane(CH_4) emissions and exerts multiple stresses on the environment.Studies have shown that plant diversity plays an important role in ecosystem functioning.However, the effects of plant species diversity on CH_4 and N_2O emissions under high ammonium(NH_4^+-N) loading rates remain unclear. In this study, a microcosm experiment simulating vertical constructed wetlands supplied with high NH_4^+-N water levels was established. The treatments included four species richness levels(1, 2, 3, 4) and 15 species compositions. There was no significant relationship between species richness and N_2O emissions. However, N_2O emissions were significantly reduced by specific plant species composition. Notably, the communities with the presence of Rumex japonicus L. reduced N_2O emissions by 62% compared to communities without this species. This reduction in N_2O emissions may have been a result of decreased N concentrations and increased plant biomass. CH_4 emissions did not respond to plant species richness or species identity.Overall, plant species identity surpassed species richness in lowering N_2O emissions from constructed wetlands with high NH_4^+-N water. | 19 | A New Discovery of Ag-Pb-Zn Mineralization via Modern Portable Analytical Technology and Stream Sediment Data Processing Methods in Dajiacuo Area, Western Tibet(China)显示文摘Tibet, which is rich in mineral resources, is a treasure trove for geological explorers. However, prospecting work has been slow, especially in the western part, due to the precipitous terrain, changeable climate and low access. Hence, modern advanced field analytical technology and effective data processing methods play significant roles in rapid and efficient exploration in Tibet. In this paper, spectrum-area fractal modeling and portable X-ray fluorescence analysis(pXRFA) were used to identify and verify geochemical anomalies associated with Ag-Pb-Zn mineralization based on a stream-sediment dataset of 39 elements in the Dajiacuo-Xurucuo region of western Tibet. First, staged factor analysis(SFA) was used to obtain the Ag-Pb-Zn-Cd geochemical assemblage. Second, the first-factor pattern obtained using SFA was dissociated by a spectrum-area(S-A) fractal model and a digital elevation model(DEM)-based geochemical model(DGM) was constructed. Finally, the sections of Ag, Cd, Pb, and Zn were obtained using pXRFA. The results show that Ag-Pb-Zn-Cd enrichment zones were mostly located around the contact belt of volcanic rocks and intrusions, or along SE-NW trending faults. Considering the variable terrain and catchment basin, the extension of long axes of Ag-Pb-Zn-Cd anomalies into higher elevation areas that are favorable for Ag-Pb-Zn mineralization should be investigated. Anomaly maps created with the aid of a DGM show promising potential for mineralization in the Dajiacuo-Xurucuo region, and abundant Ag-Pb-Zn mineralization was identified with the assistance of pXRFA in the source areas for the geochemical anomalies in the Dajiacuo. We conclude that SFA and the S-A fractal model constitute a valid tool to identify or verify geochemical anomalies in areas of low-density stream-sediment sampling.
