Elevated plasma levels of selective cytokines in COVID-19 patients reflect viral load and lung injury显示文摘A recent outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan,China was found to be caused by a 2019 novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV or SARS-CoV-2 or HCoV-19).We previously reported the clinical features of 12 patients with2019-n Co V infections in Shenzhen,China. To further understand the pathogenesis of COVID-19 and find better ways to monitor and treat the disease caused by 2019-n Co V,we measured the levels of 48 cytokines in the blood plasma of those 12 COVID-19 patients.Thirty-eight out of the 48 measured cytokines in the plasma of 2019-n Co V-infected patients were significantly elevated compared to healthy individuals.Seventeen cytokines were linked to 2019-nCoV loads.Fifteen cytokines, namely M-CSF,IL-10,IFN-α2,IL-17,IL-4,IP-10,IL-7,IL-1 ra,G-CSF,IL-12,IFN-γ,IL-1α,IL-2,HGF and PDGF-BB,were strongly associated with the lung-injury Murray score and could be used to predict the disease severity of2019-n Co V infections by calculating the area under the curve of the receiver-operating characteristics. Our results suggest that 2019-nCoV infections trigger extensive changes in a wide array of cytokines, some of which could be potential biomarkers of disease severity of 2019-n Co V infections. These findings will likely improve our understanding of the immunopathologic mechanisms of this emerging disease. Our results also suggest that modulators of cytokine responses may play a therapeutic role in combating the disease once the functions of these elevated cytokines have been characterized. | Yingxia Liu Cong Zhang Fengming Huang Yang Yang Fuxiang Wang Jing Yuan Zheng Zhang Yuhao Qin Xiaoyun Li Dandan Zhao Shunwang Li Shuguang Tan Zhaoqin Wang Jinxiu Li Chenguang Shen Jianming Li Ling Peng Weibo Wu Mengli Cao Li Xing Zhixiang Xu Li Chen Congzhao Zhou William J Liu Lei Liu Chengyu Jiang | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,6: | 6

A comprehensive analysis of the Bencao(herbal)small RNA Atlas reveals novel RNA therapeutics for treating human diseases显示文摘Cross-kingdom herbal mi RNA was first reported in 2012.Using a modified herbal extraction protocol,we obtained 73,677,287sequences by RNA-seq from 245 traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),of which 20,758,257 were unique sequences. We constructed a Bencao(herbal)small RNA(s RNA)Atlas(http://gffzz4a3adbfa122d4a47hfckffoff9x6b6fpq.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn),annotated the sequences by sequence-based clustering, and created a nomenclature system for Bencao s RNAs.The profiles of 21,757 mi RNAs in the Atlas were highly consistent with those of plant mi RNAs in mi RBase.Using software tools, our results demonstrated that all human genes might be regulated by s RNAs from the Bencao s RNA Atlas, part of the predicted human target genes were experimentally validated, suggesting that Bencao s RNAs might be one of the main bioactive components of herbal medicines. We established roadmaps for oligonucleotide drugs development and optimization of TCM prescriptions. Moreover, the decoctosome,a lipo-nano particle consisting of 0.5%–2.5%of the decoction, demonstrated potent medical effects. We propose a Bencao(herbal)Index, including small-molecule compounds(SM),protein peptides(P),nucleic acid(N),non-nucleic and non-proteinogenic large-molecule compounds(LM)and elements from Mendeleev's periodic table(E),to quantitatively measure the medical effects of botanic medicine. The Bencao s RNA Atlas is a resource for developing gene-targeting oligonucleotide drugs and optimizing botanical medicine, and may provide potential remedies for the theory and practice of one medicine. | Yinghao Cao Yexuan Lin Na Sun Xinyi Du Yixin Dong Song Mei Xingyu Deng Xiaobei Li Shaoting Guo Kegong Tang Jiaqi Liu Xiangyu Qiao Dandan Zhao Yuhao Qin Cong Zhang Tianyi Xin Xiaohu Shi Congzhao Zhou Tao Dong De-an Guo Benedikt MKessler Dong Xu Jingyuan Song Fengming Huang Xiaoyue Wang Chengyu Jiang | 2023 | Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,10: | 2
A one-for-all strategy of polyimide coating layer for resolving the comprehensive issues of phosphorus anode显示文摘Phosphorus is a promising anode with high capacity (2596 mAh g^(-1)and 6075~6924 mAh cm^(-3)),low lithium-ion diffusion barrier (0.08 e V),and appropriate lithiation potential (~0.7 V vs Li+/Li).However,it faces the problems of huge volume expansion (~300%),low electronic conductivity (10^(-14)~10^(2)S cm^(-1)),soluble intermediates (lithium polyphosphides,Li_(x)Ps),degradation in air,and low thermal stability. In this work,phosphorus/carbon nanotube composites were coated with a polyimide layer, which plays the roles of a buffer layer to relieve the volume expansion of phosphorus,an obstruct layer to confine LixPs,an inert layer to prevent the degradation of phosphorus in air,a heat resistant layer to improve the thermal stability of the anode. The resulting composites (P/CNT@PI) display high capacity retention of798.1 m Ah g^(-1)after 150 cycles at 1 A g^(-1),achieving 17 times as much as the control sample (P/CNT). | Muyao Han Shaojie Zhang Yu Cao Chengyu Han Xu Li Yiming Zhang Zhanxu Yang Jie Sun | 2022 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,7: | 2
New Small Shelly Fossils(Acanthocassis and Xinlispina Gen.Nov.) from the Fortunian Stage(Early Cambrian) in Southern China显示文摘We describe new material of three-dimensionally phosphatized small shelly fossils Acanthocassis and Xinlispina gen.nov.from the Fortunian Stage(early Cambrian) of southern Shaanxi and northern Sichuan Provinces. The new materials allow description of the delicate morphology of these skeletons, and also their skeletogenesis.Acanthocassis and Xinlispina have comparable morphological features: a main branch and radially arranged sub-branches.They differ from each other in many details, e.g., the presence of a single central branch only in Xinlispina, and the presence of small nodes only in Acanthocassis.Acanthocassis cannot be a naked anthopolyp or hydropolyp because of the more-or-less stiffened cuticle and the absence of a mouth.Acanthocassisand Xinlispina differ from coeval sponge spicules and chancelloriid sclerites and rosettes of crossed pedicellariae of echinoderms, and might be cuticular ornaments of animals of unclear affinities. They occur in the first small shelly fossil assemblage zone, and could be adopted as auxiliary fossils for biostratigraphic correlation in southern China. | SHAO Tiequan LIU Yunhuan WANG Qi ZHANG Huaqiao TANG Hanhua CAO Xi HE Huahua ZHANG Yanan LI Yuan ZHENG Panlin ZHU Chengyu HU Jiaxi | 2015 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2015,89,5: | 2
L_1 adaptive control with sliding-mode based adaptive law显示文摘This paper presents an adaptive control scheme with an integration of sliding mode control into the(?)_1 adaptive control architecture, which provides good tracking performance as well as robustness against matched uncertainties.Sliding mode control is used as an adaptive law in the(?)_1 adaptive control architecture, which is considered as a virtual control of error dynamics between estimated states and real states.Low-pass filtering mechanism in the control law design prevents a discontinuous signal in the adaptive law from appearing in actual control signal while maintaining control accuracy.By using sliding mode control as a virtual control of error dynamics and introducing the low-pass filtered control signal, the chattering effect is eliminated. The performance bounds between the close-loop adaptive system and the closed-loop reference system are characterized in this paper.Numerical simulation is provided to demonstrate the performance of the presented adaptive control scheme. | Jie LUO Chengyu CAO | 2015 | Control Theory and Technology2015,13,3: | 2

Reduction-responsive nucleic acid nanocarrier-mediated miR-22 inhibition of PI3K/AKT pathway for the treatment of patient-derived tumor xenograft osteosarcoma显示文摘miRNAs are important regulators of gene expression and play key roles in the development of cancer, including osteosarcoma. During the development of osteosarcoma, the expression of miR-22 is significantly downregulated, making miR-22 as a promising therapeutic target against osteosarcoma. To design and fabricate efficient delivery carriers of miR-22 into osteosarcoma cells, a hydroxyl-rich reduction-responsive cationic polymeric nanoparticle, TGIC-CA (TC), was developed in this work, which also enhanced the therapeutic effects of Volasertib on osteosarcoma. TC was prepared by the ring-opening reaction between amino and epoxy groups by one-pot method, which had the good complexing ability with nucleic acids, reduction-responsive degradability and gene transfection performance. TC/miR-22 combined with volasertib could inhibit proliferation, migration and promote apoptosis of osteosarcoma cells in vitro. The anti-tumor mechanisms were revealed as TC/ miR-22 and volasertib could inhibit the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway synergistically. Furthermore, this strategy showed outstanding tumor suppression performance in animal models of orthotopic osteosarcoma, especially in patient-derived chemo-resistant and chemo-intolerant patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models, which reduced the risk of tumor lung metastasis and overcame drug resistance. Therefore, it has great potential for efficient treatment of metastasis and drug resistance of osteosarcoma by the strategy of localized, sustained delivery of miR-22 using the cationic nanocarriers combined with non-traditional chemotherapy drugs. | Dafu Chen Chengyue Lei Weifeng Liu Meiyu Shao Meizhou Sun Jianxun Guo Jingjing Cao Jing-Jun Nie Peng Luo Yuwen Luo Bingran Yu Renxian Wang Shun Duan Fu-Jian Xu | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,10: | 0
