| 1 | Effects of AT1 receptor antagonist,Iosartan,on rat hepatic fibrosis induced by CCl_4显示文摘AIM To investigate effect of losartan,an AT1receptor antagonist,on hepatic fibrosis induced byCCl;and to determine whether or not AT1receptors are expressed on hepatic stellate cells,METHODS AND RESULTS Fifty male Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing(180±20)g,wererandomized into five groups(control group,modelgroup,and three losartan treated groups),inwhich all rats were given the subcutaneousinjection of 40% CCl4(every 3 days for 6 weeks)except for rats of control group.Rats of losartan-treated groups were treated with losartan(20 mg/kg,10 mg/kg,5 mg/kg,daily gavage),After 6weeks liver tissue and serum samples of all ratswere examined.Serum hyaluronic acid(HA),procollagen typeⅢ(PCⅢ)were detected byradioimmunoassays,van Giesion collagen stainingwas used to evaluate the extracellular matrix of ratswith liver fibrosis.The expression of AT1receptors,transforming growth factor-beta(TGF-β),and alpha-smooth muscle actin(a-SMA)inliver tissue were determined byimmunohistochemical techniques.Compared withmodel group,serum ALT and AST of losartan-treated groups were significantly reduced(t=4.20,P<0.01 and t=4.57,P<0.01).Serum HAand PCⅢalso had significant differences(t=3.53,P<0.01 and t=2.20,P<0.05).Thedegree of fibrosis was improved by losartan and correlated with the expressions of AT1 receptors,TGF-β,and α-SMA in liver tissue.CONCLUSION AT1 receptor antagonist,losartan,could limit the progression of the hepatic fibrosisinduced by CCl4.The mechanism may be related tothe decrease in the expression of AT1 receptorsand TGF-β,ameliorating the injury of hepatocytes;activation of local renin-angiotensin system mightrelate to hepatic fibrosis;and during progressionof fibrosis,activated hepatic stellate cells mightexpress AT1 receptors. | Hong Shan Wei Ding Guo Li Han Ming Lu Yu Tao Zhan Zhi Rong Wang Xin Huang Jing Zhang Ji Lin Cheng Qin Fang Xu Department of Gastroenterology,Xinhua Hospital,Shanghai Second Medical University,Shanghai 200092,China | 2000 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,4: | 42 |
| 2 | Activation of gibberellin 2-oxidase 6 decreases active gibberellin levels and creates a dominant semi-dwarf phenotype in rice (Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘Gibberellin (GA) 2-oxidase plays a key role in the GA catabolic pathway through 2β-hydroxylation.In the present study,we isolated a CaMV 35S-enhancer activation tagged mutant,H032.This mutant exhibited a dominant dwarf and GA-deficient phenotype,with a final stature that was less than half of its wild-type counterpart.The endogenous bioactive GAs are markedly decreased in the H032 mutant,and application of bioactive GAs (GA3 or GA4) can reverse the dwarf phenotype.The integrated T-DNA was detected 12.8 kb upstream of the OsGA2ox6 in the H032 genome by TAIL-PCR.An increased level of OsGA2ox6 mRNA was detected at a high level in the H032 mutant,which might be due to the enhancer role of the CaMV 35S promoter.RNAi and ectopic expression analysis of OsGA2ox6 indicated that the dwarf trait and the decreased levels of bioactive GAs in the H032 mutant were a result of the up-regulation of the OsGA2ox6 gene.BLASTP analysis revealed that OsGA2ox6 belongs to the class III of GA 2-oxidases,which is a novel type of GA2ox that uses C20-GAs (GA12 and/or GA53) as the substrates.Interestingly,we found that a GA biosynthesis inhibitor,paclobutrazol,positively regulated the OsGA2ox6 gene.Unlike the over-expression of OsGA2ox1,which led to a high rate of seed abortion,the H032 mutant retained normal flowering and seed production.These results indicate that OsGA2ox6 mainly affects plant stature,and the dominant dwarf trait of the H032 mutant can be used as an efficient dwarf resource in rice breeding. | Jian Huang Ding Tang Yi Shen Baoxiang Qin Lilan Hong Aiqing You Ming Li Xin Wang Hengxiu Yu Minghong Gu Zhukuan Cheng | 2010 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,1: | 36 |

| 5 | The Prevalence of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and its Association with Lifestyle/dietary Habits among University Faculty and Staff in Chengdu显示文摘Objective To investigate the prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) in different university categories and its association with lifestyle/dietary habits.Methods A cross-sectional study was carried out on 9 378 faculty members and staff who participated in an annual health checkup at three universities selected by random cluster sampling.Demographic,anthropometric,biochemical indices and abdominal ultrasound measurements were collected.A nested case-control study was conducted with 200 NAFLD cases and 200 controls matched by gender,age(±3 years),and university.Results The overall prevalence of NAFLD was 10.3%(13.7% in males and 6.8% in females).The prevalence was significantly higher in the science and engineering university(22.1%) than in the comprehensive universities with(6.4%) and without(10.9%) medical colleges.Obesity/overweight,hyperlipidemia,diabetes mellitus,and family history of NAFLD were independently associated with higher risk of NAFLD,as were frequent consumption of desserts and salty/spicy foods.Using nutritional supplements was a protective factor against NAFLD.Intake of coarse cereals,potatoes,vegetables,fruits,and milk was significantly lower,and intake of red meat,viscera,candies and pastries,cooking oil,and total energy was significantly higher in participants with NAFLD than in controls.Conclusion Science and engineering university faculty and staff are key targets for NAFLD prevention.NAFLD is closely associated with age,gender,university type,metabolic diseases,and lifestyle/dietary habits. | SHI Lei LIU Zhong Wu LI Yun GONG Cai ZHANG Huan SONG Li Juan HUANG Cheng Yu LI Ming | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,4: | 16 |

| 8 | Entecavir add-on Peg-interferon therapy plays a positive role in reversing hepatic fibrosis in treatment-naive chronic hepatitis B patients: a prospective and randomized controlled trial显示文摘Background:The efficacy of entecavir(ETV)add-on peg-interferon therapy compared with ETV monotherapy in treatment-naive hepatitis B virus(HBV)patients remains controversial.We investigated whether adding peg-interferon to ongoing ETV treatment leads to a better curative effect or not.Methods:All patients have been recruited between August 2013 and January 2015 from the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center and Zhongshan Hospital(China).Eligible HBV patients(n=144)were randomly divided(1:1)to receive either ETV monotherapy(n=70)or peg-interferon add-on therapy from week 26 to 52(«=74).Patients were followed-up for at least 2 years.Indexes including hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)and hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg)seroconversion rate,sustained virologic response,transient elastography value,and histological scores were evaluated every 3 months until the end of the study.The rate of patients with HBsAg loss was defined as the primary endpoint criteria.Results:At week 26,no patient achieved HBsAg seroconversion in either group.At week 52,one patient in the monotherapy group was HBsAg-negative but there was none in the combination therapy group.The monotherapy group showed significantly better liver function recovery results than the combination therapy group.At week 78,one patient in the combination group had HBsAg seroconverted.At week 104,only three patients in the combination therapy group were HBsAg-negative compared with one patient in monotherapy.The mean alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase levels and transient elastography values decreased significantly compared with baseline.Both groups showed a favorable decrease in alpha-fetoprotein(monotherapy:4.5[2.8,7.1]vs.2.2[1.8,3.1]ng/mL,P<0.001;combination therapy:5.7[3.0,18.8]vs.3.2[2.0,4.3]ng/mL,P<0.001)and an improved result of liver biopsy examination scores.The combination group showed a better improvement in histology compared with the monotherapy group(mean transient elastography value 6.6[4.9,9.8]vs.7.8[5.4,11.1]kPa,P=0.028).But there was no significant difference in HBsAg conversion rate(1.8%[1/56]i^s.4.1%[3/73],P=0.809)and HBeAg conversion rate(12.5%[7/56]i/s.11.0%[8/73],P=0.787),as well as HBV-DNA,sustained virologic response(93.2%vs.98.5%,P=0.150)between the two groups.Conclusions:Both therapies supported liver function recovery and histology improvement.Combination therapy did not show better anti-viral efficacy in HBsAg or HBeAg seroconversion compared with monotherapy.However,combination therapy played a more positive role in reversing hepatic fibrosis compared with monotherapy.Trial registration:ClinicalTrials.gov:NCT02849132;http://gffzzd3f38a9638994581sxxuoqpukbxvo6kx9.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/ct2/show/NCT02849132. | Jing-Mao Yang Li-Ping Chen Ya-Jie Wang Bei Lyu Hong Zhao Zhi-Yin Shang Jun Li Zhen-Yu Fan Sheng-Di Wu Xiao Ming Xian Li Shao-Ping Huang Ji-Lin Cheng | 2020 | Chinese Medical Journal2020,,14: | 11 |
| 9 | ELE restrains empty glumes from developing into lemmas显示文摘Although there is evident homology among reproductive organs when comparing Poaceae (grass) and eudicots, the identity of grass specific organs, such as lodicules, palea, lemma, and glumes has been the subject of a vast and largely inconclusive discussion. Here we provide some direct evidence to support the idea that the empty glumes of rice (Oryza sativa) are counterparts of lemmas. We show that the development of empty glumes is regulated by ELE (elongated empty glume), which belongs to a plant specific novel gene family. Mutations at the ELE locus cause elongated empty glumes, which mimic the lemmas and have the epidermal morphology of lemmas with four or five vascular bundles. As a nuclear-localized gene, ELE is specifically expressed at the empty glumes of immature spikelets, and its ectopic expression causes many floral development defects, including lemma-like palea, extra palea-like structures, elongated lodicules, extra stamens and stigmas. | 14 | Assessment of Iron Bioavailability in Ten Kinds of Chinese Wheat Flours Using an in vitro Digestion/Caco-2 cell Model显示文摘Objective To compare iron bioavailability (Fe BV) from ten selected kinds of Chinese wheat flours in order to provide scientific basis for further human trials and enable plant breeding programs to screen biofortified wheat cultivars. Methods An in vitro digestion/Caco-2 cell model was used to assess Fe BV of ten flour samples from six leading Chinese wheat cultivars and the stability of Fe BV in one cultivar was studied across three growing environments. Results Significant differences were observed in both Fe BV and Fe bioavailability per gram of food (Fe BVPG) among cultivars (P<0.01) grown at the same location with the same flour extraction rate. Zhongyou 9507 and Jingdong 8 had Fe BV 37%-54% and Fe BVPG 103%-154% higher than the reference control. In the Anyang environment, Zhongyou 9507 had a higher wheat flour-Fe level and Fe BVPG. Differences in Fe BV were detected in cultivars with different flour extraction rates. Conclusion Zhongyou 9507 and Jingdong 8 were identified as the most promising cultivars for further evaluation of efficacy by using human subjects. The growing environments had no effect on Fe BV, but did have a significant effect on Fe BVPG. | 16 | An Evaluation of the Investment for Child Development in China显示文摘Objective This study estimated the investment in child development from three aspects-public health,public education,and family investment to establish the level of investment,to provide reference information for government decision making and to provide international comparisons.Methods Public investment in health was measured with macro data related to public health spending and child development in government expenditure.Public education investment was based on basic education data.Family investment evaluation was based on per capita family consumer spending data in different age groups to estimate the input for child development.Results Both public health investment level and the proportion of GDP rose for all age groups over time,but the overall investment level was still insufficient.Public investment in children's education has increased year by year,but the trends in all age groups are unbalanced with much lower investment in early childhood education.Private investment in children has increased over the period,but has declined as a percentage of GDP.International comparisons show that China's investment in child development is much lower than OECD countries.Conclusion The private investment in child development was the main way in China,with public finance contributing only a small proportion.Given the poor international comparisons,the government needs to review the balance of public investment to redirect more towards the development of children under the age of six to their health and education. | ZHENG Xiao Ying CHEN Chun Ming HUANG Cheng Li Han You Li QIU Yue ZHANG Qian Deng CHEN He | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,4: | 4 |

In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L.
