| 1 | Nickel accumulation and its effects on the survival rate of Spodoptera litura Fabricius under continuous nickel stress显示文摘The artificial diets mixed with various concentrations of nickel were offered to the larvae of the phytophagous insect Spodoptera litura Fabricius for 3 generations. Nickel accumulations in the 6th instar larvae, pupae and newly emerged adults of the corresponding generations of S. litura were investigated by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES), and the effects of nickel accumulations on the survival rate of S. litura were also evaluated by individual rearing. The results showed that nickel accumulated in the 6th instar larvae, pupae and adults of S. litura, and the accu- mulated nickel in all the tested developmental stages within a generation increased with the increase of the nickel doses in the treated diets and showed significant dose-dependent relationship with the nickel doses in the artificial diets. The results also indicated that the nickel accumulations in the 6th instar larvae, pupae, and newly emerged adults from the 3rd generation were higher than those from the 2nd generation, which were also higher than those from the 1st generation. Nickel concentrations in pupae and adults were significantly lower than those in larvae, which indicated that the excessive nickel might be excreted during metamorphosis. | 2 | Application of next-generation sequencing technology to precision medicine in cancer: joint consensus of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology显示文摘Next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology is capable of sequencing millions or billions of DNA molecules simultaneously.Therefore, it represents a promising tool for the analysis of molecular targets for the initial diagnosis of disease, monitoring of disease progression, and identifying the mechanism of drug resistance. On behalf of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology(CSCO) and the China Actionable Genome Consortium(CAGC), the present expert group hereby proposes advisory guidelines on clinical applications of NGS technology for the analysis of cancer driver genes for precision cancer therapy. This group comprises an assembly of laboratory cancer geneticists, clinical oncologists, bioinformaticians,pathologists, and other professionals. After multiple rounds of discussions and revisions, the expert group has reached a preliminary consensus on the need of NGS in clinical diagnosis, its regulation, and compliance standards in clinical sample collection. The aim of the investigation is to determine the adsorption behavior of azo dyes in aqueous solution on DG06, GSE17200, and GSE17201 soils using C. I. Acid Red 14 (AR14) as example. The experimental results indicate that the Freundlich model expresses the adsorption isotherm better than the Langmuir model and the pseudo-second-order model achieves adsorption of AR14 on the three soils well. Based on the pseudo- second-order model, the adsorption thermodynamic of AR14 on DG06 soil have been studied and the thermodynamics parameter of ΔG0 is determined and ΔG0 value shows the adsorption process of AR14 on DG06 is mainly physical in nature. Furthermore, the effects of temperature, pH and salinity (NaCl) on adsorption have been investigated. | 6 | Breast cancer-specific serum peptide profiles显示文摘Early detection of breast cancer is paramount to successful clinical therapy. Yet, early-stage breast cancer lacks specific symptoms or biomarkers. With the emerging of the mass spectrometric (MS) -based signatures as biomarkers, we investigated breast cancer-related serum profile pattern through class prediction and independent validation, and used Fourier transfer MS to identify breast cancer signature. We now show a distinctive serum peptide pattern that discriminates breast cancer from healthy controls with 93.2% sensitivity and 95.4% specificity. m/z 5901.70 and 4465.74 of ion fragment of FPA and alpha1-antichymotrypsin are found in the signatures that predominantly discriminate breast cancer from healthy individuals. | 10 | Effects of dietary nickel on apoptosis of hemocytes of Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) larvae显示文摘Effects of dietary nickel on apoptosis of hemocytes of the 6th instar larvae of Spodoptera litura Fabricius were evaluated using flow cytometry and Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy (LSCM) by feeding S. litura larvae with artificial diets amended with different concentrations of nickel (1, 5, 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg) for 3 generations. Results showed that the hemocyte apoptosis rate of the 1st generation larvae increased with the increasing nickel concentrations in diet, and the apoptosis rate in the treatment with 40 mg/kg nickel was significantly higher than that in other treatments. In the 2nd generation, the highest hemocytes apoptosis rate was recorded in the treatment of the larvae exposed to 5 mg/kg nickel. The apoptosis rates in the larvae stressed by higher concentrations of nickel were lower than that in control. The apoptosis rates in the larvae exposed to nickel for 3 generations showed similar concentration-responses with that in the 2nd generation. However, the apoptosis rates in the larvae stressed with higher levels of nickel were all significantly inhibited in comparison with that in control. | 12 | Association between p21 Ser31Arg polymorphism and cancer risk:a meta-analysis显示文摘P21(CDKN1A),a key cell cycle regulatory protein that governs cell cycle progression from G1 to S phase,can regulate cell proliferation,growth arrest,and apoptosis.The Ser31Arg polymorphism is located in the highly conserved region of p21 and may encode functionally distinct proteins.Although many epidemiological studies have been conducted to evaluate the association between the p21 Ser31Arg polymorphism and cancer risk,the findings remain conflicting.This meta-analysis with 33 077 cases and 45 013 controls from 44 published case-control studies showed that the variant homozygous 31Arg/Arg genotype was associated with an increased risk of numerous types of cancers in a random-effect model(homozygote comparison:OR = 1.17,95% CI = 0.99 to 1.37,P = 0.0002 for the heterogeneity test;recessive model comparison:OR = 1.16,95% CI = 1.01 to 1.33,P = 0.0001 for the heterogeneity test).Stratified analysis revealed that increased cancer risk associated with the 31Arg/Arg genotype remained significant in subgroups of colorectal cancer,estrogen-related cancer,Caucasians,population-based studies,studies with matching information or a larger sample size.Heterogeneity analysis showed that tumor type contributed to substantial between-study heterogeneity(recessive model comparison:χ2 = 21.83,df = 7,P = 0.003).The results from this large-sample sized meta-analysis suggest that the p21 31Arg/Arg genotype may serve as a potential marker for increased cancer risk. | Hongxia Ma Ziyuan Zhou Sheng Wei Qingyi Wei | 2011 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2011,30,4: | 3 |

| 20 | Microstructure and mechanical properties of cast Mg-15Al-xNd alloy by permanent mold显示文摘To improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of Mg-15Al magnesium alloy,different amounts(from 0 to 4.0wt.%)of Nd were added to the alloy and six Mg-15Al-xNd alloys were prepared by metal mould casting.The effect of Nd content on microstructure of the alloys was investigated by means of OM,SEM,EDS,TEM,and XRD.The tensile properties were tested at room temperature(RT)and high temperature(473 K).The results indicate that the primaryα-Mg dendrite is significantly refined with the addition of Nd.The best refinement is reached at 1.0wt.%Nd content and the average dendrite arm spacing decreases from 80-100μm(without Nd addition)to^20μm.A further increase in Nd content leads to the coarsening of the primaryα-Mg dendrite.The addition of Nd improves the tensile properties of Mg-15Al both at RT and 473 K.The Mg-15Al alloy containing 1.0wt.%Nd exhibits the best tensile properties.Compared with the alloy without Nd,the yield and ultimate tensile strength of the Mg-15Al-1.0Nd alloy at RT increase from 132.3 to 148.6 MPa and 152.3 to 189.6MPa,increase by 12.3%and 24.5%,respectively;and the elongation at RT increases from 0.05%to 1.24%.The yield and tensile strength of the alloy at 473 K increase from 97.9 to 115.3 MPa and 121.6 to 140.1 MPa,increase by 15.2%and 20%,respectively.Further increment of Nd content to 1.5wt.%degrades the tensile properties,which is ascribed to grain coarsening and growth of the Al-Nd phase. | Zhou Kangkang Wang Hongxia Liang Wei Zhang Jinshan Zhang Hongxia | 2013 | China Foundry2013,10,5: | 2 |
