| 3 | Identification of sex phero-mones of four economically important species in genus Dendrolimus显示文摘The female-produced sex pheromone of Den-drolimus superans was identified by gas chromatography (GC), coupled GC-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), electroan-tennographic (EAG) studies and field tests as a blend of (Z,E)-5,7-dodecadienal (Z5,E7-12:Ald) and (Z,E)-5,7-dodeca-dien-1-ol (Z5,E7-12:OH). In D. kikuchii, (Z,E)-5,7-dodeca-dien-1-yl acetate (Z5,E7-12:OAc) and Z5,E7-12:OH were found by GC and GC-MS analyses. However, in EAG studies male antennae were more sensitive to Z5,E7-12:OAc and (Z,E)-5,7-dodecadien-l-yl propionate (Z5,E7-12:OPr) than Z5,E7-12:OH. For D. spectabilis, Z5,E7-12:OH had been previously reported as the sex pheromone. However, in our studies, traps baited with Z5,E7-12:OH, Z5,E7-12:OAc and Z5,E7-12:OPr in a ratio of 1:1:1 caught three times more males than those baited with Z5,E7-12:OH alone. | 4 | Alpha-2-macroglobulin as a radioprotective agent: a review显示文摘Radiation is an important modality in cancer treatment, and eighty percent of cancer patients need radiotherapy at some point during their clinical management. However, radiation-induced damage to normal tissues restricts the therapeutic doses of radiation that can be delivered to tumours and thereby limits the effectiveness of the treatment. The use of radioprotectors represents an obvious strategy to obtain better tumour control using a higher dose in radiotherapy. However, most of the synthetic radioprotective compounds studied have shown inadequate clinical efficacy owing to their inherent toxicity and high cost. Hence, the development of radioprotective agents with lower toxicity and an extended window of protection has attracted a great deal of attention, and the identification of alternative agents that are less toxic and highly effective is an absolute necessity. Recent studies have shown that alpha-2-macroglobulin(α2M) possesses radioprotective effects. α2M is a tetrameric, disulfide-rich plasma glycoprotein that functions as a nonselective inhibitor of different types of non-specific proteases and as a carrier of cytokines, growth factors, and hormones. α2M induces protein factors whose interplay underlies radioprotection, which supports the idea that α2M is the central effector of natural radioprotection in the rat. Pretreatment with α2M has also induced a significant reduction of irradiation-induced DNA damage and the complete restoration of liver and body weight. Mihailovi? et al. concluded that the radioprotection provided by α2M was in part mediated through cytoprotection of new blood cells produced in the bone marrow; these authors also indicated that an important aspect of the radioprotective effect of amifostine was the result of the induction of the endogenous cytoprotective capability of α2M. The radioprotective effects of α2M are possibly due to antioxidant, antifibrosis, and anti-inflammatory functions, as well as the maintenance of homeostasis, and enhancement of the DNA repair and cell recovery processes. This review is the first to summarise the observations and elucidate the possible mechanisms responsible for the beneficial effects of α2M. | 5 | Impacts of hydrogen dilution on growth and optical properties of a-SiC:H films显示文摘Hydrogenated amorphous silicon-carbon (a-SiC:H) films were deposited by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) with a fixed methane to silane ratio ([CH4]/[SiH4]) of 1.2 and a wide range of hydrogen dilution (RH=[H2]/[SiH4 + CH4]) values of 12, 22, 33, 102 and 135. The impacts of RH on the structural and optical properties of the films were investigated by using UV-VIS transmission, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) absorption, Raman scattering and photoluminescence (PL) measur- ements. The effects of high temperature annealing on the films were also probed. It is found that with increasing hydrogen dilution, the optical band gap increases, and the PL peak blueshifts from ~1.43 to 1.62 Ev. | 7 | Morphology of irradiated PMMA membranes prepared by phase inversion with supercritical CO_2显示文摘Poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)pellets are irradiated using 60Co gamma-ray in air and successfully formed by hot pressing at constant conditions.The irradiated PMMA membranes are prepared by supercritical carbon dioxide(scCO2)as a physical blowing agent using the pressure quench method.Effects of foaming conditions such as adsorbed dose,saturation temperature,pressure on the morphology and cell size of the microcellular PMMA membranes are investigated in detail.The results showed that the irradiated PMMA membranes possess spherically closed-cell structure with uniform cell size.They have a high cell density compared with virgin PMMA.The cell size uniformity becomes poor at dose lower than 10 kGy,but increases with the dose at dose higher than 10 kGy.The mean cell diameter is less than 10μm and the cell density increases with increasing dose.The average cell size of irradiated PMMA membranes decreases and cell density increases with increased saturation temperature and pressure.The changes in morphology of membranes are attributed to the gamma-ray radiation and scCO2synergistic effect. | TANG Zhongfeng CHEN Youshuang QIU Guangnan TONG Bin LI Hua TANG Xiaoxing KONG Xiangbo | 2013 | Nuclear Science and Techniques2013,24,6: | 0 |
