Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-loaded amniotic membrane for the repair of radial nerve injury显示文摘In this study,we loaded human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells onto human amniotic membrane with epithelial cells to prepare nerve conduits,i.e.,a relatively closed nerve regeneration chamber. After neurolysis, the injured radial nerve was enwrapped with the prepared nerve conduit, which was fixed to the epineurium by sutures, with the cell on the inner surface of the conduit.Simultaneously,a 1.0 mL aliquot of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell suspension was injected into the distal and proximal ends of the injured radial nerve with 1.0 cm intervals.A total of1.75×107cells were seeded on the amniotic membrane. In the control group, patients received only neurolysis. At 12 weeks after cell transplantation, more than 80%of patients exhibited obvious improvements in muscular strength, and touch and pain sensations. In contrast, these improvements were observed only in 55–65%of control patients. At 8 and 12 weeks, muscular electrophysiological function in the region dominated by the injured radial nerve was significantly better in the transplantation group than the control group. After cell transplantation,no immunological rejections were observed. These findings suggest that human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-loaded amniotic membrane can be used for the repair of radial nerve injury. | Zhi Li Hanjiao Qin Zishan Feng Wei Liu Ye Zhou Lifeng Yang Wei Zhao Youjun Li | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,36: | 13
In-plane elastic stability of fixed parabolic shallow arches显示文摘The nonlinear behavior of fixed parabolic shallow arches subjected to a vertical uniform load is inves- tigated to evaluate the in-plane buckling load. The virtual work principle method is used to establish the non-linear equilibrium and buckling equations. Analytical solutions for the non-linear in-plane sym- metric snap-through and antisymmetric bifurcation buckling loads are obtained. Based on the least square method, an approximation for the symmetric buckling load of fixed parabolic arch is proposed to simplify the solution process. And the relation between modified slenderness and buckling modes are discussed. Comparisons with the results of finite element analysis demonstrate that the solutions are accurate. A cable-arch structure is presented to improve the in-plane stability of parabolic arches. The comparison of buckling loads between cable-arch systems and arches only show that the effect of cables becomes more evident with the increase of arch’s modified slenderness. | CAI JianGuo FENG Jian CHEN Yao HUANG LiFeng | 2009 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,3: | 8

The Construction of Active Source Repeated Monitoring in the Qilian Mountain, Gansu Province显示文摘The exciting source of the active source repeated monitoring is located in the Xiliushui Reservoir in Zhangye,Gansu Province. The system began operating normally on July 9,2015,and we had completed a period of 40 days of continuous excitation experiment before November 10,2015. Our results reveal that the airgun source has good consistency and repeatability, and the detective system of active source can record signal clearly. The construction of active source repeated exploration projects has achieved some results, which can provide valuable experience for the research of active source repeated exploration. The observation data we obtained makes it possible to follow the temporal and spatial variations of the deep structure of the Qilian Mountain areas. | Zhang Yuansheng Guo Xiao Qin Manzhong Liu Xuzhou Wei Congxin Shen Xuzhang Yan Wenhua Zou Rui Yin Liang Wang Yahong Sun Dianfeng Feng Hongwu Zhang Lifeng Guo Yingxia | 2016 | Earthquake Research in China2016,30,3: | 4
The Genomes of the Allohexaploid Echinochloa crus-galli and Its Progenitors Provide Insights into Polyploidization-Driven Adaptation显示文摘The hexaploid species Echinochloa crus-galli is one of the most detrimental weeds in crop fields, especially in rice paddies. Its evolutionary history is similar to that of bread wheat, arising through polyploidization after hybridization between a tetraploid and a diploid species. In this study,we generated and analyzed high-quality genome sequences of diploid(E.haploclada),tetraploid(E.oryzicola),and hexaploid(E.crus-galli)Echinochloa species.Gene family analysis showed a significant loss of disease-resistance genes such as those encoding NB-ARC domain-containing proteins during Echinochloa polyploidization, contrary to their significant expansionduring wheat polyploidization, suggesting that natural selection might favor reduced investment in resistance in this weed to maximize its growth and reproduction. In contrast to the asymmetric patterns of genome evolution observed in wheat and other crops,no significant differences in selection pressure were detected between the subgenomes in E.oryzicola and E.crus-galli.In addition, distinctive differences in subgenome transcriptome dynamics during hexaploidization were observed between E.crus-galli and bread wheat.Collectively, our study documents genomic mechanisms underlying the adaptation of a major agricultural weed during polyploidization. The genomic and transcriptomic resources of three Echinochloa species and new insights into the polyploidization-driven adaptive evolution would be useful for future breeding cereal crops. | Chu-Yu Ye Dongya Wu Lingfeng Mao Lei Jia Jie Qiu Sangting Lao Meihong Chen Bowen Jiang Wei Tang Qiong Peng Lang Pan Lifeng Wang Xiaoxiao Feng Longbiao Guo Chulong Zhang Elizabeth A.Kellogg Kenneth M.Olsen Lianyang Bai Longjiang Fan | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,9: | 4
Effect of environmental factors on the complexation of iron and humic acid显示文摘A method of size exclusion chromatography coupled with ultraviolet spectrophotometry and off-line graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry was developed to assess the complexation properties of iron(Fe) and humic acid(HA) in a water environment. The factors affecting the complexation of Fe and HA, such as ionic strength, p H, temperature and UV radiation, were investigated. The Fe–HA complex residence time was also studied. Experimental results showed that p H could influence the deprotonation of HA and hydrolysis of Fe, and thus affected the complexation of Fe and HA. The complexation was greatly disrupted by the presence of Na Cl. Temperature had some influence on the complexation. The yield of Fe–HA complexes showed a small decrease at high levels of UV radiation, but the effect of UV radiation on Fe–HA complex formation at natural levels could be neglected. It took about 10 hr for the complexation to reach equilibrium, and the Fe–HA complex residence time was about 20 hr.Complexation of Fe and HA reached a maximum level under the conditions of p H 6, very low ionic strength, in the dark and at a water temperature of about 25°C, for 10 hr. It was suggested that the Fe–HA complex could form mainly in freshwater bodies and reach high levels in the warm season with mild sunlight radiation. With changing environmental parameters, such as at lower temperature in winter or higher p H and ionic strength in an estuary, the concentration of the Fe–HA complex would decrease. | Kai Fang Dongxing Yuan Lei Zhang Lifeng Feng Yaojin Chen Yuzhou Wang | 2015 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2015,27,1: | 3
Ionic liquids containing the urea moiety for recognition of halides and complex anions显示文摘A series of novel imidazolium based ionic liquids containing the urea moiety were designed and synthesized for anion recognition. 1-Ethylurea-3-methylimidazolium acetate ([Eumim]OAc) was used as the receptor for the halides and complex anions (BF4-, PF6-, BPh4-). 1H NMR spectra showed that the urea protons and imidazolium C(2) proton of the receptor ([Eumim]OAc) moved upfield on addition of various anions. A Job plot showed that the [Eumim]OAc receptor formed a 1:1 complex with BPh4-. X-ray diffraction analysis and the molecular modeling study revealed that the conformations of [Eumim]OAc and [Eumim]BPh4 were different. The conformational change of the cation was caused by anion exchange, and may provide an alternative to current methods for recognition of anions. | DONG ZhiYun YANG Yu ZHANG LiFeng XUE YunRong FENG MeiYun GAO GuoHua | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,5: | 3
Dark,Beyond Deep:A Paradigm Shift to Cognitive AI with Humanlike Common Sense显示文摘Recent progress in deep learning is essentially based on a“big data for small tasks”paradigm, under which massive amounts of data are used to train a classifier for a single narrow task.In this paper,we call for a shift that flips this paradigm upside down.Specifically,we propose a“small data for big tasks”paradigm, wherein a single artificial intelligence(AI)system is challenged to develop“common sense,”enabling it to solve a wide range of tasks with little training data.We illustrate the potential power of this new paradigm by reviewing models of common sense that synthesize recent breakthroughs in both machine and human vision. We identify functionality, physics, intent, causality, and utility(FPICU)as the five core domains of cognitive AI with humanlike common sense. When taken as a unified concept,FPICU is concerned with the questions of“why”and“how,”beyond the dominant“what”and“where”framework for understanding vision. They are invisible in terms of pixels but nevertheless drive the creation, maintenance, and development of visual scenes. We therefore coin them the“dark matter”of vision.Just as our universe cannot be understood by merely studying observable matter,we argue that vision cannot be understood without studying FPICU.We demonstrate the power of this perspective to develop cognitive AI systems with humanlike common sense by showing how to observe and apply FPICU with little training data to solve a wide range of challenging tasks, including tool use, planning, utility inference, and social learning. In summary,we argue that the next generation of AI must embrace“dark”humanlike common sense for solving novel tasks. | Yixin Zhu Tao Gao Lifeng Fan Siyuan Huang Mark Edmonds Hangxin Liu Feng Gao Chi Zhang Siyuan Qi Ying Nian Wu Joshua B.Tenenbaum Song-Chun Zhu | 2020 | Engineering2020,6,3: | 3

Simulation of viscoelastic behavior of defected rock by using numerical manifold method显示文摘Numerical simulations of longitudinal wave propagation in a rock bar with microcracks are conducted by using the numerical manifold method which has great advantages in the simulation of discontinuities.Firstly, validation of the numerical manifold method is carried out by simulations of a longitudinal stress wave propagating through intact and cracked rock bars. The behavior of the stress wave traveling in a one-dimensional rock bar with randomly distributed microcracks is subsequently studied. It is revealed that the highly defected rock bar has significant viscoelasticity to the stress wave propagation.Wave attenuation as well as time delay is affected by the length, quantity, specific stiffness of the distributed microcracks as well as the incident stress wave frequency. The storage and loss moduli of the defected rock are also affected by the microcrack properties;however, they are independent of incident stress wave frequency. | Feng REN Lifeng FAN Guowei MA | 2011 | Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2011,5,2: | 3
Ultrasound speed and attenuation in progressive trypsin digested articular cartilage显示文摘Subtle changes of articular cartilage(AC) can lead to tissue degeneration and even osteoarthritis(OA).The early degeneration of AC is closely related to a change in proteoglycans(PG) content. The observation of PG is therefore an appropriate way of studying OA and evaluating the degree of AC degeneration. In this study,20 cartilage-bone samples were prepared from normal porcine femoral condyle cartilage and 10 samples were digested over 2 h using 0.25% trypsin solution. The dynamic process of PG-digestion was explored using a conventional A-mode ultrasound(US) experimental system with a 10 MHz center frequency.Quantitative acoustic parameters were calculated from ultrasonic radio-frequency echo signals and included US speed(USS),US amplitude attenuation coefficient(UAA) and broadband US attenuation coefficient(BUA).The experimental results showed that the conventional A-mode ultrasound is valuable for tracking the degree of PG-digestion.Histology also confirmed the validity of the ultrasound observations. For every AC sample, the degree of PG-digestion within a given time was different and was affected by individual differences. After two hours of degeneration,USS showed a mean decrease of 0.4%(P<0.05).UAA was significantly lower after a two-hour PG depletion period(from(2.45±0.23) to(2.28±0.41) dB mm?1).BUA showed no significant differences during this process. In conclusion, conventional ultrasound can provide useful information about trypsin-induced progressive PG depletion in AC and can reflect variations of PG content via the quantitative acoustic parameters USS and UAA.The results of this study may be used to identify an indirect indicator of cartilage matrix integrity and OA disease progression. | NIU HaiJun LI LiFeng SUN Feng YAN Yan WANG YueXiang LI DeYu FAN YuBo | 2011 | Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,11: | 3
Combination of NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography offers unique advantages for elucidation of the structural basis of protein complex assembly显示文摘NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography are two premium methods for determining the atomic structures of macro-biomolecular complexes. Each method has unique strengths and weaknesses. While the two techniques are highly complementary, they have generally been used separately to address the structure and functions of biomolecular complexes. In this review,we emphasize that the combination of NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography offers unique power for elucidating the structures of complicated protein assemblies. We demonstrate, using several recent examples from our own laboratory, that the exquisite sensitivity of NMR spectroscopy in detecting the conformational properties of individual atoms in proteins and their complexes, without any prior knowledge of conformation,is highly valuable for obtaining the high quality crystals necessary for structure determination by X-ray crystallography. Thus NMR spectroscopy,in addition to answering many unique structural biology questions that can be addressed specifically by that technique, can be exceedingly powerful in modern structural biology when combined with other techniques including X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy. | FENG Wei PAN LiFeng ZHANG MingJie | 2011 | Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,2: | 3

Arg462Gln and Asp541Glu polymorphisms in ribonuclease L and prostate cancer risk:a meta-analysis显示文摘Objective:The association between ribonuclease L(RNASEL)gene polymorphisms and prostate cancer risk has been widely reported, but the results of these studies remained controversial and underpowered. We performed a meta-analysis of 28 studies to evaluate the association between Arg462Gln and Asp541Glu polymorphisms in the RNASEL gene and prostate cancer risk. Methods:Odds ratios(ORs)with 95%confidence intervals(CIs) were estimated to assess the association between RNASEL polymorphisms and prostate cancer risk. Results:A significantly increased prostate cancer risk was found for the Arg462Gln polymorphism in Africans(Gln/Gln vs Arg/Arg:OR=2.50,95%CI=1.28-4.87;Gln/Gln vs Gln/Arg+Arg/Arg:OR=2.54,95%CI=1.30-4.95),but not in Europeans and Asians.Additionally, the Asp541Glu polymorphism was associated with increased total prostate cancer risk(Glu-allele vs Asp-allele:OR=1.04,95%CI=1.01-1.07;Glu/Glu vs Asp/Asp:OR=1.22,95%CI= 1.03-1.46;Glu/Glu vs Glu/Asp+Asp/Asp:OR=1.09,95%CI=1.02-1.16).In the stratified analysis for the Asp541Glu polymorphism, there was a significantly increased prostate cancer risk in Africans and Europeans, and in hospital-based prostate cancer cases. Conclusion:The meta-analysis results showed evidence that RNASEL Arg462Gln and Asp541Glu polymorphisms are associated with prostate cancer risk and could be low-penetrance prostate cancer susceptibility biomarkers. | Yuanyuan Mi Qianqian Yu Zhichao Min Bin Xu Lifeng Zhang Wei Zhang Ninghan Feng L ixin Hua | 2010 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2010,24,5: | 2
The RALF1-FERONIA complex interacts with and activates TOR signaling in response to low nutrients显示文摘Target of rapamycin(TOR)kinase is an evolutionarily conserved major regulator of nutrient metabolism and organismal growth in eukaryotes. In plants, nutrients are remobilized and reallocated between shoots and roots under low-nutrient conditions, and nitrogen and nitrogen-related nutrients(e.g.,amino acids)are key upstream signals leading to TOR activation in shoots under low-nutrient conditions. However, how these forms of nitrogen can be sensed to activate TOR in plants is still poorly understood. Here we report that the Arabidopsis receptor kinase FERON IA(FER)interacts with the TOR pathway to regulate nutrient(nitrogen and amino acid)signaling under low-nutrient conditions and exerts similar metabolic effects in response to nitrogen deficiency. We found that FER and its partner,RPM1-induced protein kinase(RIPK),interact with the TOR/RAPTOR complex to positively modulate TOR signaling activity.During this process, the receptor complex FER/RIPK phosphorylates the TOR complex component RAPTOR1B.The RALF1 peptide,a ligand of the FER/RIPK receptor complex, increases TOR activation in the young leaf by enhancing FER-TOR interactions, leading to promotion of true leaf growth in Arabidopsis under lownutrient conditions.Furthermore,we showed that specific amino acids(e.g.,Gin,Asp,and Gly)promote true leaf growth under nitrogen-deficient conditions via the FER-TOR axis.Collectively, our study reveals a mechanism by which the RALF1-FER pathway activates TOR in the plant adaptive response to low nutrients and suggests that plants prioritize nutritional stress response over RALF1-mediated inhibition of cell growth under low-nutrient conditions. | Limei Song Guoyun Xu Tingting Li Huina Zhou Qinlu Lin Jia Chen Long Wang Dousheng Wu Xiaoxu Li Lifeng Wang Sirui Zhu Feng Yu | 2022 | Molecular Plant2022,15,7: | 2
EGFR TKIs impair lysosome-dependent degradation of SQSTM1 to compromise the effectiveness in lung cancer显示文摘Tyrosine kinase inhibitors for epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR TKIs)greatly improved clinical outcomes of patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Unfortunately, primary and acquired resistance limits their clinical benefits. To overcome such resistance, new generations of EGFR TKIs have been developed by targeting newly identified mutations in EGFR.However, much less effort has been put into alternative strategies, such as targeting the intrinsic protective responses to EGFR TKIs.In this study,we found that EGFR TKIs,including gefitinib and AZD9291,impaired lysosome-dependent degradation of SQSTM1,thus compromising their anti-cancer efficiency.By accumulating in the lysosome lumen, gefitinib and AZD9291 attenuated lysosomal acidification and impaired autolysosomal degradation of SQSTM1 owing to their intrinsic alkalinity. As a result,SQSTM1 protein was stabilized in response to gefitinib and AZD9291 treatment and conferred EGFR TKI resistance.Depleting SQSTM1 significantly increased the sensitivity of NSCLC cells to gefitinib and AZD9291 both in vitro and in vivo.Furthermore,a chemically modified gefitinib analog lacking alkalinity displayed stronger inhibitory effects on NSCLC cells. Therefore, targeting accumulated SQSTM1 or chemically modified EGFR TKIs may represent new strategies to increase the effectiveness of EGFR targeted therapy. | Lixian Yang Shilong Ying Shiman Hu Xiangtong Zhao Muchun Li Miaoqin Chen Yiran Zhu Ping Song Liyuan Zhu Tingting Jiang Huimin An Neelum Aziz Yousafzai Wenxia Xu Zhiguo Zhang Xian Wang Lifeng Feng Hongchuan Jin | 2019 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1: | 2
Remote Sense and GIS-Based Division of Landslide Hazard Degree in Wanzhou District of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area显示文摘An evaluation model divided landslide hazard degrees in Wanzhou District of Three Gorges Reservoir Area. The model was established by GIS techniques and took land use/cover, stratum characters, slope aspect, slope gradient, elevation difference and slope shape as evaluation factors. The data of land use/cover were obtained by remote sensing, and the weights of the factors mentioned above were established by the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The results indicate, low danger areas in the studied area account for 66.51%, and high danger areas and very high danger areas occupy 1/3 of the total area. The regions of high and very high danger are mainly located around the urban area of Wanzhou District and on the banks of the Yangtze River with a relatively large area , where collapse and landslide directly threats densely populated areas and Three Gorges Reservoir. Slope destabilization, if occurs, will bring huge loss to social economy. All research results are consistent with the actual conditions; therefore, they can be regarded as a useful basis for planning and constructing of the reservoir area. | ZHOU Qigang FENG Wenlan SONG Shujun YUAN Lifeng ZHOU Wancun | 2006 | Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences2006,11,4: | 1

Catalytic asymmetric synthesis of chiral azo compounds via interrupted Japp-Klingemann reaction with aryldiazonium salts显示文摘Asymmetric synthesis of enantioenriched azo compounds bearing tetrasubstituted stereocenter was achieved through chiral N,N′-dioxide/metal Lewis acid promoted interrupted Japp-Klingemann reaction of aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborate salts with nucleophiles under mild conditions. This protocol features wide substrate scope and good functional group compatibility.Azaarene-containing chiral azo compounds were stable enough in Japp-Klingemann reaction condition. The key to success of the reaction was the employment of metal salt/N,N′-dioxide ligand and the dual-task roles of the base. Moreover, the X-ray crystal structure of Ni(II)/N,N′-dioxide/substrate complex confirmed that the substrate was activated by bidentate coordination, which shed light on the origin of chiral control of the reaction. | Yan Wang Aying Yihuo Lifeng Wang Shunxi Dong Xiaoming Feng | 2022 | Science China Chemistry2022,65,3: | 1
