1Black carbon aerosols and their radiative properties in the Pearl River Delta region显示文摘The climatic and environmental effects of atmospheric aerosols are a hot topic in global science community, and radiative properties of the aerosols are one of the important parameters in assessing climatic change. Here we studied the black carbon concentration and absorption coefficient measured with aethalometers, scattering coefficient measured with nephelometers, and single scattering albedo derived at an atmospheric composition watch station in Guangzhou from 2004 to 2007. Our main results are as follows. The data of black carbon concentration and absorption coefficients measured with instruments cannot be directly used until they are measured in parallel with internationally accepted instruments for comparison, calibration, and reduction. After evaluation of the data, the result shows that the monthly mean of BC concentration varies 3.1―14.8 μg·m-3 and the concentration decreases by about 1 μg·m-3 in average over the four years; It is higher in the dry season with a multi-year mean of 8.9 μg/m3 and lower in the rainy season with a multi-year mean of 8.0 μg·m-3; The extreme maximum of monthly mean concentration occurred in December 2004 and extreme minimum in July 2007, and a 4-year mean is 8.4 μg·m-3. It is also shown that monthly mean scattering coefficient derived varies 129 -565 Mm-1, monthly mean absorption coefficient 32-139 Mm-1, and monthly mean single scattering albedo 0.71-0.91, with annual mean values of 0.80, 0.82, 0.79 and 0.84 for 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007, respectively. Three instruments were used to take simultaneous measurements of BC in PM10, PM2.5, and PM1 and the results showed that PM2.5 took up about 90% of PM10 and PM1 accounted for about 68% of PM2.5, and BC aerosols are mainly present in fine particulates. The variability of BC concentrations is quite consistent between the Nancun station (141 m above sea level) and the Panyu station (13 m above sea level), which are 8 km apart from each other. 2Generation and analysis of expressed sequence tags from the salt-tolerant eelgrass species, Zostera marina显示文摘Zostera marina, a monocotyledonous angiosperm, is one of the most important seagrass species. To investigate the salt-tolerance mechanism and discover salt-tolerant genes in Z. marina, a cDNA library was constructed. Single-pass sequencing of the 5'ends of 4 081 clones yielded 4 002 high quality expressed sequence tags (ESTs), which were assembled into 241 contigs and 1 673 singletons, representing 1 914 unigenes. The average length of the ESTs was 582 bp, with sizes ranging from 100-1 500 bp. Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLASTX) analysis revealed that 1 664 unigenes had significant homology to known genes in the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) non-redundant (nr) database (E-value 5-10). Among them, the two most abundant genes encoded metallothionein (157 ESTs) and chlorophyll a/b-binding protein (38 ESTs), accounting for 7.1% and 1.7% of the total ESTs, respectively. Using Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), 1 462 unigenes were assigned to 1 161 pathways (E-value 5-10). A total of 938 unigenes were assigned Gene Ontology (GO) terms based on the GO hierarchy analysis, and InterProScan searches recognized 1 003 InterPro families. Three genes for metallothionein in Z. marina that belonged to Class II was identified. 7An innovative joint interface design for reducing intermetallic compounds and improving joint strength of thick plate friction stir welded Al/Mg joints显示文摘Friction stir welding of dissimilar Al/Mg thick plates still faces severe challenges, such as poor formability, formation of thick intermetallic compounds, and low joint strength. In this work, two joint configurations, namely inclined butt(conventional butt) and serrated interlocking(innovative butt), are proposed for improving weld formation and joint quality. The results show that a continuous and straight intermetallic compound layer appears at the Mg side interface in conventional butt joint, and the maximum average thickness reaches about 60.1 μm.Additionally, the Mg side interface also partially melts, forming a eutectic structure composed of Mg solid solution and Al_(12)Mg_(17) phase.For the innovative butt joint, the Mg side interface presents the curved interlocking feature, and intermetallic compounds can be reduced to less than 10 μm. The joint strength of innovative butt joint is more than three times that of conventional butt joint. 10Experimental evidence for field-induced metamagnetic transition of EuCd_(2)As_(2)显示文摘Recent studies have shown that layered compound EuCd_(2)As_(2) could exhibit diverse topological states depending on the different magnetic structures,such as Weyl semimetal,Dirac semimetal and topological insulato r.In order to further study the interplay between magnetism and topology of EuCd_(2)As_(2),it is necessary to figure out its magnetic structure.Here,by magnetization(M) measurements and negative magnetostriction(λ) along the [001] direction measured by scanning tunneling microscopy on EuCd_(2)As_(2) single crystals,we observe field-induced metamagnetic phase transition from A-type antiferromagnetic(AFM) ground state to field-polarized state,with canted AFM(CAFM) state in between.Magnetization and magnetostriction are more sensitive to the in-plane field than the out-of-plane field,indicating the magnetic moments lying in the ab plane.The absence of abrupt jump on M-H and λ-H curves demonstrates that the phase transition is a second-order type.In CAFM state,M increases linearly with the field and λ is proportional to M~2.Tunneling conductance spectra show the field-induced evolution of the electronic density of states.Our results provide experimental evidence for understanding the magnetic structure of EuCd_(2)As_(2).Yingkai Sun Yong Li Shuaishuai Li Changjiang Yi Hanbin Deng Xin Du Limin Liu Changjiang Zhu Yuan Li Zheng Wang Hanqing Mao Youguo Shi Rui Wu 2022Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,10:0
11Recognition for avian influenza virus proteins based on support vector machine and linear discriminant analysis显示文摘Total 200 properties related to structural characteristics were employed to represent structures of 400 HA coded proteins of influenza virus as training samples. Some recognition models for HA proteins of avian influenza virus (AIV) were developed using support vector machine (SVM) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA). The results obtained from LDA are as follows: the identification accuracy (Ria) for training samples is 99.8% and Ria by leave one out cross validation is 99.5%. Both Ria of 99.8% for training samples and Ria of 99.3% by leave one out cross validation are obtained using SVM model, respectively. External 200 HA proteins of influenza virus were used to validate the external predictive power of the resulting model. 14Demonstration and operation of quantum harmonic oscillators in an AlGaAs–GaAs heterostructure显示文摘The quantum harmonic oscillator(QHO),one of the most important and ubiquitous model systems in quantum mechanics,features equally spaced energy levels or eigenstates.Here we present a new class of nearly ideal QHOs formed by hydrogenic substitutional dopants in an AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure.On the basis of model calculations,we demonstrate that,when aδ-doping Si donor substitutes the Ga/Al lattice site close to AlGaAs/GaAs heterointerface,a hydrogenic Si QHO,characterized by a restoring Coulomb force producing square law harmonic potential,is formed.This gives rise to QHO states with energy spacing of~8–9 meV.We experimentally confirm this proposal by utilizing gate tuning and measuring QHO states using an aluminum single-electron transistor(SET).A sharp and fast oscillation with period of~7–8 mV appears in addition to the regular Coulomb blockade(CB)oscillation with much larger period,for positive gate biases above 0.5 V.The observation of fast oscillation and its behavior is quantitatively consistent with our theoretical result,manifesting the harmonic motion of electrons from the QHO.Our results might establish a general principle to design,construct and manipulate QHOs in semiconductor heterostructures,opening future possibilities for their quantum applications.Guangqiang Mei Pengfei Suo Li Mao Min Feng Limin Cao 2023Frontiers of physics2023,18,1:0
