| 1 | Apolipoprotein E, amyloid-beta, and neuroinflammation in Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Alzheimer's disease(AD) is characterized by the accumulation and deposition of amyloid-beta(Aβ) peptides in the brain. Neuroinflammation occurs in the AD brain and plays a critical role in the neurodegenerative pathology. Particularly, Aβ evokes an inflammatory response that leads to synaptic dysfunction, neuronal death, and neurodegeneration. Apolipoprotein E(ApoE) proteins are involved in cholesterol transport, Aβ binding and clearance, and synaptic functions in the brain. The ApoE4 isoform is a key risk factor for AD, while the ApoE2 isoform has a neuroprotective effect. However, studies have reached different conclusions about the roles of the isoforms; some show that both ApoE3 and ApoE4 have anti-infl ammatory effects, while others show that ApoE4 causes a predisposition to inflammation or promotes an inflammatory response following lipopolysaccharide treatment. These discrepancies may result from the differences in models, cell types, experimental conditions, and inflammatory stimuli used. Further, little was known about the role of ApoE isoforms in the Aβ-induced inflammatory response and in the neuroinflammation of AD. Our recent work showed that ApoE isoforms differentially regulate and modify the Aβ-induced infl ammatory response in neural cells, with ApoE2 suppressing and ApoE4 promoting the response. | 4 | Prognostic value of ^(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography using Deauville criteria in diffuse large B cell lymphoma treated with autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation显示文摘Objective: High-dose chemotherapy(HDC) followed by autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(auto-HSCT) plays an important role in improving outcomes of diffuse large B cell lymphoma(DLBCL) patients.18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose(18 F-FDG) positron emission tomography(PET)/computed tomography(CT) has been widely accepted in response assessment and prediction of prognosis in DLBCL. Here, we report the value of 18 FFDG PET/CT pre-and post-HSCT in predicting outcomes of patients with DLBCL.Methods: DLBCL patients who had PET/CT scan before and after HSCT were included. PET results were interpreted based upon Deauville criteria. The prognostic value of 18 F-FDG PET/CT in auto-HSCT was evaluated.Results: Eighty-four patients were enrolled. In univariate analysis, pre-and post-HSCT PET findings were correlated with 3-year progression-free survival(PFS) [hazard ratio(HR)=4.391, P=0.001; HR=7.607, P<0.001] and overall survival(OS)(HR=4.792, P=0.008; HR=26.138, P<0.001). Patients receiving upfront auto-HSCT after firstline treatment had better outcomes than relapsed/refractory DLBCL patients(3-year PFS, P<0.001; 3-year OS,P<0.001). In the relapsed/refractory patients, pre-and post-HSCT PET findings were also associated with 3-year PFS(P=0.003 vs. P<0.001) and OS(P=0.027 vs. P<0.001). A significant correlation was observed between clinical response to chemotherapy before auto-HSCT and outcomes of patients in the entire cohort(3-year PFS, P<0.001;3-year OS, P<0.001) and in the subgroup of 21 patients with positive pre-HSCT PET(3-year PFS, P=0.084; 3-year OS, P=0.240). A significant association between survival and post-HSCT PET findings was observed in multivariate analysis(HR=5.168, P<0.001).Conclusions: PET results before and after HSCT are useful prognostic factors for DLBCL patients receiving HSCT. | 6 | Item-level Forecasting for E-commerce Demand with High-dimensional Data Using a Two-stage Feature Selection Algorithm显示文摘With the rapid development of information technology and fast growth of Internet users,e-commerce nowadays is facing complex business environment and accumulating large-volume and highdimensional data.This brings two challenges for demand forecasting.First,e-merchants need to find appropriate approaches to leverage the large amount of data and extract forecast features to capture various factors affecting the demand.Second,they need to efficiently identify the most important features to improve the forecast accuracy and better understand the key drivers for demand changes.To solve these challenges,this study conducts a multi-dimensional feature engineering by constructing five feature categories including historical demand,price,page view,reviews,and competition for e-commerce demand forecasting on item-level.We then propose a two-stage random forest-based feature selection algorithm to effectively identify the important features from the high-dimensional feature set and avoid overfittlng.We test our proposed algorithm with a large-scale dataset from the largest e-commerce platform in China.The numerical results from 21,111 items and 109 million sales observations show that our proposed random forest-based forecasting framework with a two-stage feature selection algorithm delivers 11.58%,5.81%and 3.68%forecast accuracy improvement,compared with the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average(ARIMA),Random Forecast,and Random Forecast with one-stage feature selection approach,respectively,which are widely used in literature and industry.This study provides a useful tool for the practitioners to forecast demands and sheds lights on the B2C e-commerce operations management. | Hongyan Dai Qin Xiao Nina Yan Xun Xu Tingting Tong | 2022 | Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering2022,31,2: | 1 |

| 15 | Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector.Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements,such as its low-energy threshold,high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors,and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors.In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable,assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition,approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected.This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter,which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle.Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better,depending on the central value,and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment. | 16 | Tellurium intervened Fe-N codoped carbon for improved oxygen reduction reaction and high-performance Zn-air batteries显示文摘Pyrolysis-acquired iron and nitrogen codoped carbon(Fe-N-C)has been comprehensively investigated for its promising oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)catalytic performance and structural complexity.The modification of non-metal elements with larger atomic radius and the corresponding intrinsic microstructure-property relations are rarely reported.In this study,tellurium(Te)intervened Fe-N-C was prepared by micelles-induced polymerization with Te nanowires as an in-situ intervening agent.The out-plane bonding of Te with Fe induced the increase of both N content and proportion of pyridinic N on the material surface,thus improving the ORR catalytic performance.The assembled Zn-air battery demonstrated a maximum power density of 250 mW/cm^(2)and excellent rate capability under various discharge current densities,which was much better than the Pt/C.Overall,the current work demonstrates a novel Te/Fe-N-C material and reveals an original Te intervened Fe-N-C strategy and N reconfiguration mechanism,which is of great significance for the design of key materials in energy-related fields. | Rui Wang Zihan Meng Xuemin Yan Tian Tian Ming Lei Rami Adel Pashameah Hala MAbo-Dief Hassan Algadi Nina Huang Zhanhu Guo Haolin Tang | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,6: | 0 |
| 17 | Fast Evaporation Enabled Ultrathin Polymer Coatings on Nanoporous Substrates for Highly Permeable Membranes显示文摘Thin polymer coatings covering on porous substrates are a common composite structure required in numerous applications,including membrane separation,and there is a strong need to push the coating thicknesses down to the nanometer scale to maximize the performances.However,producing such ultrathin polymer coatings in a facile and efficient way remains a big challenge.Here,uniform ultrathin polymer covering films(UPCFs)are realized by a facile and general approach based on rapid solvent evaporation.By fast evaporating dilute polymer solutions spread on the surface of porous substrates,we obtain ultrathin coatings(down to30 nm)exclusively on the top surface of porous substrates,forming UPCFs with a block copolymer of polystyrene-blockpoly(2-vinyl pyridine)at room temperature or a homopolymer of poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)at elevated temperatures.Upon selective swelling of the block copolymer and crosslinking of PVA,we obtain highly permeable membranes delivering2–10 times higher permeance in ultrafiltration and pervaporation than state-of-the-art membranes with comparable selectivities.We have invented a very convenient but highly efficient process for the direct preparation of defective-free ultrathin coatings on porous substrates,which is extremely desired in different fields in addition to membrane separation. | Xiansong Shi Lei Wang Nina Yan Zhaogen Wang Leiming Guo Martin Steinhart Yong Wang | 2021 | The Innovation2021,2,1: | 0 |
