| 1 | Challenges and recent progress in thermal management with heat pipes for lithium-ion power batteries in electric vehicles显示文摘Electric vehicles(EVs)are globally undergoing rapid developments,and have great potentials to replace the traditional vehicles based on fossil fuels.Power-type lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have been widely used for EVs,owing to high power densities,good charge/discharge stability,and long cycle life.The driving ranges and acceleration performances are gaining increasing concerns from customers,which depend highly on the power level of LIBs.With the increase in power outputs,rising heat generation significantly affects the battery performances,and in particular operation safety.Meanwhile,the cold-start performance is still an intractable problem under extreme conditions.These challenges put forward higher requirements for a dedicated battery thermal management system(BTMS).Compared to traditional BTMSs in EVs,the heat pipe-based BTMS has great application prospects owing to its compact structure,flexibility,low cost,and especially high thermal conductivity.Encompassing this topic,this review first introduces heat generation phenomena and temperature characteristics of LIBs.Multiple abuse conditions and thermal runaway issues are described afterward.Typical cooling and preheating methods for designing a BTMS are also discussed.More emphasis on this review is put on the use of various heat pipes for BTMSs to enhance the thermal performances of LIBs.For lack of wide application in actual EVs,more efforts should be made to extend the use of heat pipes for constructing an energy-efficient,cost-effective,and reliable BTMS to improve the performances and safety of EVs. | HUANG Yao TANG Yong YUAN Wei FANG GuoYun YANG Yang ZHANG XiaoQing WU YaoPeng YUAN YuHang WANG Chun LI JinGuang | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,5: | 10 |

| 3 | Leukocyte/platelet hybrid membrane-camouflaged dendritic large pore mesoporous silica nanoparticles co-loaded with photo/chemotherapeutic agents for triple negative breast cancer combination treatment显示文摘Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)is an aggressive subset of breast cancer and currently lacks effective therapeutic targets.As two main phototherapeutic methods,photothermal therapy(PTT)and photodynamic therapy(PDT)show many advantages in TNBC treatment,and their combination with chemotherapy can achieve synergistic therapeutic effects.In the present study,a biomimetic nanoplatform was developed based on leukocyte/platelet hybrid membrane(LPHM)and dendritic large pore mesoporous silicon nanoparticles(DLMSNs).A near infrared(NIR)fluorescent dye IR780 and a chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin(DOX)were co-loaded into the large pores of DLMSNs to prepare DLMSN@DOX/IR780(DDI)nanoparticles(NPs),followed by camouflage with LPHM to obtain LPHM@DDI NPs.Through the mediation of LPHM,LPHM@DDI NPs showed an excellent TNBC-targeting ability and very high PTT/PDT performances in vitro and in vivo.Upon NIR laser irradiation,LPHM@DDI NPs exhibited synergistic cytotoxicity and apoptosis-inducing activity in TNBC cells,and effectively suppressed tumor growth and recurrence in TNBC mice through tumor ablation and anti-angiogenesis.These synergistic effects were sourced from the combination of PTT/PDT and chemotherapy.Altogether,this study offers a promising biomimetic nanoplatform for efficient co-loading and targeted delivery of photo/chemotherapeutic agents for TNBC combination treatment. | Tao Zhang Hui Liu Ling Li Zhaoyang Guo Jia Song Xiaoying Yang Guoyun Wan Rongshan Li Yinsong Wang | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,11: | 4 |
| 4 | The RALF1-FERONIA complex interacts with and activates TOR signaling in response to low nutrients显示文摘Target of rapamycin(TOR)kinase is an evolutionarily conserved major regulator of nutrient metabolism and organismal growth in eukaryotes.In plants,nutrients are remobilized and reallocated between shoots and roots under low-nutrient conditions,and nitrogen and nitrogen-related nutrients(e.g.,amino acids)are key upstream signals leading to TOR activation in shoots under low-nutrient conditions.However,how these forms of nitrogen can be sensed to activate TOR in plants is still poorly understood.Here we report that the Arabidopsis receptor kinase FERON IA(FER)interacts with the TOR pathway to regulate nutrient(nitrogen and amino acid)signaling under low-nutrient conditions and exerts similar metabolic effects in response to nitrogen deficiency.We found that FER and its partner,RPM1-induced protein kinase(RIPK),interact with the TOR/RAPTOR complex to positively modulate TOR signaling activity.During this process,the receptor complex FER/RIPK phosphorylates the TOR complex component RAPTOR1B.The RALF1 peptide,a ligand of the FER/RIPK receptor complex,increases TOR activation in the young leaf by enhancing FER-TOR interactions,leading to promotion of true leaf growth in Arabidopsis under lownutrient conditions.Furthermore,we showed that specific amino acids(e.g.,Gin,Asp,and Gly)promote true leaf growth under nitrogen-deficient conditions via the FER-TOR axis.Collectively,our study reveals a mechanism by which the RALF1-FER pathway activates TOR in the plant adaptive response to low nutrients and suggests that plants prioritize nutritional stress response over RALF1-mediated inhibition of cell growth under low-nutrient conditions. | Limei Song Guoyun Xu Tingting Li Huina Zhou Qinlu Lin Jia Chen Long Wang Dousheng Wu Xiaoxu Li Lifeng Wang Sirui Zhu Feng Yu | 2022 | Molecular Plant2022,15,7: | 2 |

| 13 | The role of corneal endothelium in macular corneal dystrophy development and recurrence显示文摘Macular corneal dystrophy(MCD)is a progressive,bilateral stromal dystrophic disease that arises from mutations in carbohydrate sulfotransferase 6(CHST6).Corneal transplantation is the ultimate therapeutic solution for MCD patients.Unfortunately,postoperative recurrence remains a significant challenge.We conducted a retrospective review of a clinical cohort comprising 102 MCD patients with 124 eyes that underwent either penetrating keratoplasty(PKP)or deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty(DALK).Our results revealed that the recurrence rate was nearly three times higher in the DALK group(39.13%,9/23 eyes)compared with the PKP group(10.89%,11/101 eyes),suggesting that surgical replacement of the corneal endothelium for treating MCD is advisable to prevent postoperative recurrence.Our experimental data confirmed the robust m RNA and protein expression of CHST6 in human corneal endothelium and the rodent homolog CHST5 in mouse endothelium.Selective knockdown of wild-type Chst5 in mouse corneal endothelium(AC^(siChst5)),but not in the corneal stroma,induced experimental MCD with similar extracellular matrix synthesis impairments and corneal thinning as observed in MCD patients.Mice carrying Chst5 point mutation also recapitulated clinical phenotypes of MCD,along with corneal endothelial abnormalities.Intracameral injection of wild-type Chst5 rescued the corneal impairments in AC^(siChst5)mice and retarded the disease progression in Chst5 mutant mice.Overall,our study provides new mechanistic insights and therapeutic approaches for MCD treatment by highlighting the role of corneal endothelium in MCD development. | Bi-Ning Zhang Benxiang Qi Chunxiao Dong Bin Zhang Jun Cheng Xin Wang Suxia Li Xiaoyun Zhuang Shijiu Chen Haoyun Duan Dewei Li Sujie Zhu Guoyun Li Yihai Cao Qingjun Zhou Lixin Xie | 2024 | Science China(Life Sciences)2024,67,2: | 0 |
| 14 | The Jidong Eye Cohort Study:objectives,design,and baseline characteristics显示文摘Background:To describe the objective,design and baseline characteristics of the Jidong Eye Cohort Study(JECS),a community-based cohort in China based on etiology,imaging and biomarkers.The JECS will clarify the pathogenesis of visual impairment and status of ocular indicators in the occurrence and progression of cardiocerebrovascular and neurological diseases.Methods:Between August 2019 and January 2020,the JECS recruited consecutive participants aged 18 years and older from the Jidong communities in China.The demographic and clinical characteristics were collected by trained site personnel via face-to-face interviews.The relevant biological samples were also collected.The participants underwent comprehensive ophthalmic examination,such as retinal photography and optical coherence tomography(OCT)angiography.The following outcomes were measured annually:ocular vascular abnormality,optic nerve degeneration,cardiovascular diseases(CVD)and neurological diseases.The study will be performed until 2024.Results:Among 3377 participants,the average age was 45.0±12.5 years and 1809(53.6%)were women.Hypertension occurred in 825 individuals(25.0%),diabetes in 258(7.7%),hyperglycemia in 474(14.2%),and a CVD history in 100(3.0%).The mean best-corrected visual acuity was 0.1 logMAR in the recruited subjects.The average OCT signal index was 8.2±1.2.Additionally,the mean vessel densities for the entire measured area were 46.4%and 50.8%for the superficial and deep vascular complex,respectively.Mean area and perimeter of foveal avascular zone was 0.3 mm2 and 2.3 mm.Conclusions:The JECS is a large community-based prospective cohort in North China.Rich data collected from this study will provide the opportunity to identify risk factors,imaging,and biomarkers of visual impairment(either ocular vascular anomalies or optic nerve degeneration)and to evaluate their associations with CVD and neurological diseases. | Kai Yang Lele Cui Guoyun Zhang Xianwei Wang Xiaoxuan Zhu Yunfan Xiao Binbin Su Daiyu Song Xinyao Zhang Yang Zheng Fan Lu Jia Qu Ming Li | 2020 | Eye and Vision2020,7,1: | 0 |

| 17 | A chromosome-level genome assembly for Erianthus fulvus provides insights into its biofuel potential and facilitates breeding for improvement of sugarcane显示文摘Erianthus produces substantial biomass,exhibits a good Brix value,and shows wide environmental adaptability,making it a potential biofuel plant.In contrast to closely related sorghum and sugarcane,Erianthus can grow in degraded soils,thus releasing pressure on agricultural lands used for biofuel production.However,the lack of genomic resources for Erianthus hinders its genetic improvement,thus limiting its potential for biofuel production.In the present study,we generated a chromosome-scale reference genome for Erianthus fulvus Nees.The genome size estimated by flow cytometry was 937 Mb,and the assembled genome size was 902 Mb,covering 96.26%of the estimated genome size.A total of 35065 proteincoding genes were predicted,and 67.89%of the genome was found to be repetitive.A recent wholegenome duplication occurred approximately 74.10 million years ago in the E.fulvus genome.Phylogenetic analysis showed that E.fulvus is evolutionarily closer to S.spontaneum and diverged after S.bicolor.Three of the 10 chromosomes of E.fulvus formed through rearrangements of ancestral chromosomes.Phylogenetic reconstruction of the Saccharum complex revealed a polyphyletic origin of the complex and a sister relationship of E.fulvus with Saccharum sp.,excluding S.arundinaceum.On the basis of the four amino acid residues that provide substrate specificity,the E.fulvus SWEET proteins were classified as monoand disaccharide sugar transporters.Ortho-QTL genes identified for 10 biofuel-related traits may aid in the rapid screening of E.fulvus populations to enhance breeding programs for improved biofuel production.The results of this study provide valuable insights for breeding programs aimed at improving biofuel production in E.fulvus and enhancing sugarcane introgression programs. | Ling Kui Aasim Majeed Xianhong Wang Zijiang Yang Jian Chen Lilian He Yining Di Xuzhen Li Zhenfeng Qian Yinming Jiao Guoyun Wang Lufeng Liu Rong Xu Shujie Gu Qinghui Yang Shuying Chen Hongbo Lou Yu Meng Linyan Xie Fu Xu Qingqing Shen Amit Singh Karl Gruber Yunbing Pan Tingting Hao Yang Dong Fusheng Li | 2023 | Plant Communications2023,4,4: | 0 |
