Influence of Tanshinone lla on heat shock protein 70,Bcl-2 and Bax expression in rats with spinal ischemia/reperfusion injury显示文摘Tanshinone lla is an effective monomer component of Danshen, which is a traditional Chinese medicine for activating blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis. Tanshinone lla can effectively improve brain tissue ischemia/hypoxia injury. The present study established a rat model of spinal cord ischemia/reperfusion injury and intraperitoneally injected Tanshinone IIa, 0.5 hour prior to model establishment. Results showed that Tanshinone lla promoted heat shock protein 70 and Bcl-2 protein expression, but inhibited Bax protein expression in the injured spinal cord after ischemia/reperfusion injury. Furthermore, Nissl staining indicated a reduction in nerve cell apoptosis and fewer pathological lesions in the presence of Tanshinone lla, compared with positive control Danshen injection. | Li Zhang Weidong Gan Guoyao An | 2012 | Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,36: | 8
A Hu sheep genome with the first ovine Y chromosome reveal introgression history after sheep domestication显示文摘The Y chromosome plays key roles in male fertility and reflects the evolutionary history of paternal lineages. Here,we present a de novo genome assembly of the Hu sheep with the first draft assembly of ovine Y chromosome(o MSY),using nanopore sequencing and Hi-C technologies. The o MSY that we generated spans 10.6 Mb from which 775 Y-SNPs were identified by applying a large panel of whole genome sequences from worldwide sheep and wild Iranian mouflons.Three major paternal lineages(HY1a,HY1b and HY2)were defined across domestic sheep,of which HY2 was newly detected.Surprisingly,HY2 forms a monophyletic clade with the Iranian mouflons and is highly divergent from both HY1a and HY1b.Demographic analysis of Y chromosomes, mitochondrial and nuclear genomes confirmed that HY2 and the maternal counterpart of lineage C represented a distinct wild mouflon population in Iran that diverge from the direct ancestor of domestic sheep, the wild mouflons in Southeastern Anatolia. Our results suggest that wild Iranian mouflons had introgressed into domestic sheep and thereby introduced this Iranian mouflon specific lineage carrying HY2 to both East Asian and Africa sheep populations. | Ran Li Peng Yang Ming Li Wenwen Fang Xiangpeng Yue Hojjat Asadollahpour Nanaei Shangquan Gan Duo Du Yudong Cai Xuelei Dai Qimeng Yang Chunna Cao Weidong Deng Sangang He Wenrong Li Runlin Ma Mingjun Liu Yu Jiang | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,7: | 1

Effectiveness of hospital disinfection and experience learnt from 11 years of surveillance显示文摘This survey was designed to assess the sanitation status of hospitals and the compliance of hospital staff to disinfection strategies within the past 11 years.A total of 199 provincial affiliated tertiary or secondary public hospitals from 2007 to 2017 were investigated and seven critical categories, namely indoor air, work surface, hand hygiene, ultraviolet(UV)irradiation intensity, use of disinfectants, sterilization of medical items, and effects of steam sterilizer, were monitored. The average qualified rates were(94.74±3.54)%(810/855),(97.25±1.65)%(1876/1929),(87.57±4.60)%(2508/2864),(95.00±4.50)%(1196/1259),and(98.76±1.14)%(1599/1619)for indoor air, work surface, hand hygiene,UV irradiation intensity, and sterilization of medical items, respectively. In terms of other categories, few samples were not qualified:3/1575 for use of disinfectants and 1/243 for effects of steam sterilizer. The hospital disinfection monitoring and supervision program effectively improved the effectiveness of disinfection.Routine monitoring and supervision must be conducted to ensure a safe hospital treatment environment. | Chun’ai Tao Yongxin Gan Weidong Su Zhutian Li Xiaolan Tang | 2019 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2019,33,6: | 1
Revisiting GM-CSF as an adjuvant for therapeutic vaccines显示文摘Granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor(GM-CSF)is generally considered to be a proinflammatory cytokine;GM-CSF-based vaccines have been shown to elicit potent antitumor and antiviral immune responses in preclinical experiments. In clinical trials, however, these effects were not as robust and sometimes even contradicted the findings from animal models. In this commentary,we aim to discuss the latest advances in this field, hoping that an upto-date and comprehensive understanding of this molecule will help others design effective GM-CSF-based strategies for antiviral and anticancer vaccines. | Weidong Zhao Gan Zhao Bin Wang | 2018 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,2: | 1

Breakthrough and significance of technology on internal multiple recognition and suppression: A case study of Ordovician Dengying Formation in Central Sichuan Basin, SW China显示文摘Aimed at the serious mismatch between the synthetic seismogram and the real data of the Sinian Dengying Formation and the Lower Cambrian Qiongzhusi Formation in the GS1 well area, Sichuan Basin, four aspects of internal multiples identification and suppression were studied. Firstly, a forward modeling method of internal multiple based on reflectivity method was developed. Through eight means such as post-stack and pre-stack forward modeling of internal multiple, and combined with VSP data, it was demonstrated that well-seismic mismatching in this area is mainly caused by the internal multiples. Secondly, the simulation results of internal multiple forward modeling using the stripping method combined with the internal multiple periodicity analysis showed that four groups of overburden layers with velocity inversion were the main sources of the internal multiples. Thirdly, by identifying internal multiples accurately and using suppression technology based on pattern recognition, an effective and replicable suppression scheme suitable for these formations was established, overcoming the difficulty of the small speed difference between internal multiple and primary reflection wave which makes the current methods ineffective. Fourthly, an evaluation index of internal multiple intensity was proposed, and the internal multiple intensity distribution diagram of the fourth member of Dengying Formation(Deng-4 Member) in Gaoshiti-Moxi area was compiled. This scheme greatly improved the well-seismic match, and the strata sedimentary features are clearer on the new seismic profiles with higher lateral resolution, with which smaller faults and geological anomalies can be identified and a series of the bead reflections in the Dengying Formation are first discovered. The coincidence rate of reservoir prediction based on seismic waveform classification was increased from 60% to 90%, and that of hydrocarbon detection based on dual phase medium theory was increased from 70% to 100%. | GAN Lideng XIAO Fusen DAI Xiaofeng YANG Hao XU Youping RAN Qi WEI Chao XIE Zhan'an ZHANG Xuan LIU Weidong ZHANG Ming SONG Jianyong LI YANDong | 2018 | Petroleum Exploration and Development2018,45,6: | 0
Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector. Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements, such as its low-energy threshold, high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors, and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors. In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable, assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition, approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected. This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter, which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle. Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better, depending on the central value, and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment. | 11 | Differentiate Xp11.2 Translocation Renal Cell Carcinoma from Computed Tomography Images and Clinical Data with ResNet-18 CNN and XGBoost显示文摘This study aims to apply ResNet-18 convolutional neural network(CNN)and XGBoost to preoperative computed tomography(CT)images and clinical data for distinguishing Xp11.2 translocation renal cell carcinoma(Xp11.2 tRCC)from common subtypes of renal cell carcinoma(RCC)in order to provide patients with individualized treatment plans.Data from45 patients with Xp11.2 tRCC fromJanuary 2007 to December 2021 are collected.Clear cell RCC(ccRCC),papillary RCC(pRCC),or chromophobe RCC(chRCC)can be detected from each patient.CT images are acquired in the following three phases:unenhanced, corticomedullary, and nephrographic.A unified framework is proposed for the classification of renal masses. In this framework,ResNet-18 CNN is employed to classify renal cancers with CT images, while XGBoost is adopted with clinical data.Experiments demonstrate that,if applying ResNet-18 CNN or XGBoost singly, the latter outperforms the former, while the framework integrating both technologies performs similarly or better than urologists.Especially, the possibility of misclassifying Xp11.2 tRCC,pRCC,and chRCC as ccRCC by the proposed framework is much lower than urologists. | Yanwen Lu Wenliang Ma Xiang Dong Mackenzie Brown Tong Lu Weidong Gan | 2023 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2023,,7: | 0
Variability of Prorocentrum donghaiense response to allelopathic action from Alexandrium pacificum in laboratory culture显示文摘The dinoflagellates Alexandrium pacificum and Prorocentrum donghaiense are two well-known harmful algal blooms(HABs)-forming species, both were usually found in the same sea areas in form of HABs in China. To date, there is no mechanistic model that can fully explain the occurrence of P.donghaiense blooms with A.pacificum.We found that different strains of P.donghaiense had different intrinsic growth rates of 0.107-0.215/d,and these strains exhibited different responses to the allelopathic action from A.pacificum.Some strains of P.donghaiense could grow well despite some degrees of inhibition in a short period, suggesting the two algal species P.donghaiense and A.pacificum could coexist, even if A.pacificum was allelopathic. Our findings may advance the understanding of phenotypes in P.donghaiense and provide a potential mechanism involved in the coexistence of P.donghaiense and A.pacificum in the same area. | Hongjia HUANG Chuqiao GAN Jiahui HUANG Chen ZOU Hongye LI Jiesheng LIU Weidong YANG | 2021 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,4: | 0
