Clinical research linking Traditional Chinese Medicine constitution types with diseases:a literature review of 1639 observational studies显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To analyze clinical studies on correlations between Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)body constitution types and diseases published in the past 10 years, and to provide an evidence base to support the use of such correlations for health maintenance and disease prevention.METHODS:We searched five databases for the period April 2009 to December 2019:China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,Wanfang Database,China Science and Technology Journal Database,PubMed and Embase.Three types of observational studies on correlation between constitution types and diseases were included:cross-sectional,case-control and cohort studies.Descriptive statistical methods were employed for data analysis.RESULTS:A total of 1639 clinical studies were identified:1452(88.59%)cross-sectional studies,115(7.02%)case-control studies and 72(4.39%)cohort studies covering 30 regions of China and five other countries(Malaysia,South Korea,Singapore,Thailand and France). The collection of studies comprised 19 disease categories and 333 different diseases. The 10 most commonly studied diseases were hypertension, diabetes, stroke, coronary atherosclerotic heart disease(CAHD),sleep disorders, neoplasm of the breast, dysmenorrhea, fatty liver disease, chronic viral hepatitis B and dyslipidemia. We found high distributions for each biased constitution type in different patient populations as follows:Qi-deficiency constitution in stroke, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and hypertension;Yang-deficiency constitution in female infertility, osteoporosis, irritable bowel syndrome, gonarthrosis and dysmenorrhea;Yin-deficiency constitution in hypertension, diabetes, constipation, female climacteric states and osteoporosis;phlegm-dampness constitution in hypertension, stroke, fatty liver disease, diabetes and metabolic syndrome;damp-heat constitution in acne, chronic gastritis, chronic viral hepatitis B,human papillomavirus infection and hyperuricemia;blood-stasis constitution in CAHD,endometriosis and stroke;Qi-stagnation constitution in hyperplasia and neoplasms of the breast, insomnia, depression and thyroid nodules;and inherited-special constitution in asthma and allergic rhinitis.CONCLUSION:Eight biased TCM constitutions were closely related to specific diseases, and could be used to guide individualized prevention and treatment.More rigorously designed studies are recommended to further verify the constitution-disease relationship. | Liang Xue Wang Qi Jiang Zeqiang Li Zhuqing Zhang Mengxing Yang Peiying Wang Xin Wang Yanqiu Qin Yuehua Li Tianxing Zhang Tianyi Wang Yi Sun Jianxiang Li Yusi Luo Hui Li Lingru | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,4: | 29
Toripalimab plus chemotherapy as second-line treatment in previously EGFR-TKI treated patients with EGFR-mutant-advanced NSCLC:a multicenter phase-II trial显示文摘This multicenter phase-II trial aimed to investigate the efficacy, safety, and predictive biomarkers of toripalimab plus chemotherapy as second-line treatment in patients with EGFR-mutant-advanced NSCLC.Patients who failed from first-line EGFR-TKIs and did not harbor T790M mutation were enrolled.Toripalimab plus carboplatin and pemetrexed were administrated every three weeks for up to six cycles, followed by the maintenance of toripalimab and pemetrexed. The primary endpoint was objective-response rate(ORR).Integrated biomarker analysis of PD-L1 expression, tumor mutational burden(TMB),CD8+tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte(TIL)density,whole-exome,and transcriptome sequencing on tumor biopsies were also conducted.Forty patients were enrolled with an overall ORR of 50.0%and disease-control rate(DCR)of 87.5%.The median progression free survival(PFS)and overall survival were 7.0 and 23.5 months, respectively. The most common treatment-related adverse effects were leukopenia,neutropenia,anemia,ALT/AST elevation, and nausea.Biomarker analysis showed that none of PD-L1 expression,TMB level, and CD8+TIL density could serve as a predictive biomarker.Integrated analysis of whole-exome and transcriptome sequencing data revealed that patients with DSPP mutation had a decreased M2 macrophage infiltration and associated with longer PFS than those of wild type.Toripalimab plus chemotherapy showed a promising anti-tumor activity with acceptable safety profiles as the second-line setting in patients with EGFR-mutant NSCLC.DSPP mutation might serve as a potential biomarker for this combination.A phase-III trial to compare toripalimab versus placebo in combination with chemotherapy in this setting is ongoing(NCT03924050). | Tao Jiang Pingyang Wang Jie Zhang Yanqiu Zhao Jianying Zhou Yun Fan Yongqian Shu Xiaoqing Liu Helong Zhang Jianxing He Guanghui Gao Xiaoqian Mu Zhang Bao Yanjun Xu Renhua Guo Hong Wang Lin Deng Ningqiang Ma Yalei Zhang Hui Feng Sheng Yao Jiarui Wu Luonan Chen Caicun Zhou Shengxiang Ren | 2021 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,11: | 8
A four-compartment model for the COVID-19 infection—implications on infection kinetics, control measures, and lockdown exit strategies显示文摘Objective:To analyse the impact and repercussions of the surge in healthcare demand in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, assess the potential effectiveness of various infection/disease control measures, and make projections on the best approach to exit from the current lockdown.Design:A four-compartment model was constructed for SARS-CoV-2 infection based on the Wuhan data and validated with data collected in Italy, the UK,and the US.The model captures the effectiveness of various disease suppression measures in three modifiable factors:(a)the per capita contact rate(β)that can be lowered by means of social distancing,(b)infection probability upon contacting infectious individuals that can be lowered by wearing facemasks, personal hygiene, etc.,and(c)the population of infectious individuals in contact with the susceptible population, which can be lowered by quarantine. The model was used to make projections on the best approach to exit from the current lockdown. Results:The model was applied to evaluate the epidemiological data and hospital burden in Italy, the UK,and the US.The control measures were identified as the key drivers for the observed epidemiological data through sensitivity analyses.Analysing the different lockdown exit strategies showed that a lockdown exit strategy with a combination of social separation/general facemask use may work, but this needs to be supported by intense monitoring whichwould allowre-introduction/tightening of the controlmeasures if the number of newinfected subjects increases again. Conclusions and relevance:Governments should act early in a swift and decisive manner for containment policies.Any lockdown exit will need to be monitored closely, with regards to the potential of lockdown reimplementation. This mathematical model provides a framework for major pandemics in the future. | Tianbing Wang Yanqiu Wu Johnson Yiu-Nam Lau Yingqi Yu Liyu Liu Jing Li Kang Zhang Weiwei Tong Baoguo Jiang | 2020 | Precision Clinical Medicine2020,3,2: | 5

Regulating surface state of WO3 nanosheets by gamma irradiation for suppressing hydrogen evolution reaction in electrochemical N2 fixation显示文摘Realizing the reduction of N2 to NH3 at low temperature and pressure is always the unremitting pursuit of scientists and then electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction offers an intriguing alternative. Here,we develop a feasible way, gamma irradiation, for constructing defective structure on the surface of WO3 nanosheets, which is clearly observed at the atomic scale by high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy(HAADF-STEM).The abundant oxygen vacancies ensure WO3 nanosheets with a Faradaic efficiency of 23%at−0.3 V vs.RHE.Moreover,we start from the regulation of the surface state to suppress proton availability towards hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)on the active site and thus boost the selectivity of nitrogen reduction. | Yanqiu Du Cheng Jiang Li Song Bin Gao Hao Gong Wei Xia Lei Sheng Tao Wang Jianping He | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,10: | 4
PagGRF12a interacts with PagGIF1b to regulate secondary xylem development through modulating PagXND1a expression in Populus alba×P.glandulosa显示文摘Growth-regulating factors(GRFs)are important regulators of plant development and growth, but their possible roles in xylem development in woody plants remain unclear. Here,we report that Populus alba×Papulus glandulosa PagGRF12a negatively regulates xylem development in poplar.PagGRF12a is expressed in vascular tissues.Compared to non-transgenic control plants, transgenic poplar plants overexpressing PagGRF12a exhibited reduced xylem width and plants with repressed expression of PagGRF12a exhibited increased xylem width.Xylem NAC domain 1(XND1)encodes a NAC domain transcription factor that regulates xylem development and transcriptional analyses revealed that PagXND1a is highly upregulated in PagGRF12a-overexpressing plants and downregulated in PagGRF12a-suppressed plants, indicating that PagGRF12a may regulate xylem development through PagXND1a.Transient transcriptional assays and chromatin immunoprecipitation-polymerase chain reaction assays confirmed that PagGRF12a directly upregulates PagXND1a.In addition,PagGRF12a interacts with the GRF-Interacting Factor(GIF)PagGIF1b,and this interaction enhances the effects of PagGRF12a on PagXND1a.Our results indicate that PagGRF12a inhibits xylem development by upregulating the expression of PagXND1a. | Jinnan Wang Houjun Zhou Yanqiu Zhao Cheng Jiang Jihong Li Fang Tang Yingli Liu Shutang Zhao Jianjun Hu Xueqin Song MengZhu Lu | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,10: | 3
Mesoporous TiO_2/Carbon Beads: One-Pot Preparation and Their Application in Visible-Light-Induced Photodegradation显示文摘Mesoporous Ti O2/Carbon beads have been prepared via a facile impregnation-carbonization approach, in which a porous anion-exchange resin and K2 Ti O(C2O4)2were used as hard carbon and titanium source, respectively.Characterization results reveal that the self-assembled composites have disordered mesostructure, uniform mesopores, large pore volumes, and high surface areas. The mesopore walls are composed of amorphous carbon, well-dispersed and confined anatase or rutile nanoparticles. Some anatase phase of Ti O2 was transformed to rutile phase via an increase of carbonization temperature or repeated impregnation of the resin with Ti O(C2O4)22-species. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen element analysis, and thermal gravity analysis results indicate the doping of carbon into the Ti O2 lattice and strong interaction between carbon and Ti O2 nanoparticles. A synergy effect by carbon and Ti O2 in the composites has been discussed herein on the degradation of methyl orange under visible light. The dye removal process involves adsorption of the dye from water by the mesopores in the composites, followed by photodegradation on the separated dye-loaded catalysts. Mesopores allow full access of the dye molecules to the surface of Ti O2 nanoparticles.Importantly, the bead format of such composite enables their straightforward separation from the reaction mixture in their application as a liquid-phase heterogeneous photodegradation catalyst. | Xiaowei Li Yanqiu Jiang Wenjing Cheng Yudong Li Xianzhu Xu Kaifeng Lin | 2015 | Nano-Micro Letters2015,7,3: | 2
Monodomain Liquid Crystals of Two-Dimensional Sheets by Boundary-Free Sheargraphy显示文摘Eliminating topological defects to achieve monodomain liquid crystals is highly significant for the fundamental studies of soft matter and building long-range ordered materials. However, liquid crystals are metastable and sensitive to external stimuli, such as flow, confinement, and electromagnetic fields, which cause their intrinsic polycrystallinity and topological defects. Here,we achieve the monodomain liquid crystals of graphene oxide over 30 cm through boundary-free sheargraphy. The obtained monodomain liquid crystals exhibit large-area uniform alignment of sheets, which has the same optical polarized angle and intensity. The monodomain liquid crystals provide bidirectionally ordered skeletons, which can be applied as lightweight thermal management materials with bidirectionally high thermal and electrical conductivity.Furthermore,we extend the controllable topology of two-dimensional colloids by introducing singularities and disclinations in monodomain liquid crystals.Topological structures with defect strength from−2 to+2 were realized. This work provides a facile methodology to study the structural order of soft matter at a macroscopic level, facilitating the fabrication of metamaterials with tunable and highly anisotropic architectures. | Min Cao Senping Liu Qingli Zhu Ya Wang Jingyu Ma Zeshen Li Dan Chang Enhui Zhu Xin Ming Yingjun Liu Yanqiu Jiang Zhen Xu Chao Gao | 2022 | Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,12: | 2
Synthesis of aza-BODIPY dyes bearing the naphthyl groups at 1,7-positions and application for singlet oxygen generation显示文摘Using 2-vinylnaphthalene,aza-BODIPYs with the naphthyl groups at 1,7-positions were prepared and their photophysical properties were characterized.Due to attachment of the naphthyl groups at1,7-positions,aza-BODIPYs show long-wavelength absorption and emission in the near-infrared region. The singlet oxygen generation of the dibromo substituted aza-BODIPY with the naphthyl groups at1,7-positions as a photosensitizer was more effective than that of the corresponding aza-BODIPY with the phenyl groups at 1,7-positions.No photobleaching of the naphthyl-containing aza-BODIPY was observed and such NIR aza-BODIPY could be used for the singlet oxygen generation. | Xindong Jiang Tingjiang Zhang Changliang Sun Yanqiu Meng Linjiu Xiao | 2019 | Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,5: | 2

Conformation Engineering of Two-Dimensional Macromolecules:A Case Study with Graphene Oxide显示文摘CONSPECTUS:Two-dimensional sheets,a new family of macromolecules with 2D topology, are posed to rapidly extend material technologies and indispensably shape our lives. The great expectations of 2D macromolecules urgently call not only a unified understanding of their macromolecular behavior in the new 2D topology but also a general methodology to guide the precise fabrication to achieve disruptive performances of their macroscopic materials.Motivated by these mutual fundamental problems,we have explored the conformation principle of 2D macromolecules and established a systematic routine for macroscopically assembled materials,in the model of graphene oxide. This Account concludes our recent works in investigating macromolecular conformations and condensed states of 2D graphene oxide and initializes a conceptually new methodology of conformation engineering of 2D macromolecules. In analogy with classic 1D polymers,we have depicted a systematical conformation map of graphene oxide extending from individual to multiple sheets. The conformation map unifies the theoretic description and experimental observations, establishing the conformation principle of 2D polymers. We have found rich liquid crystalline phases of graphene oxide and uncovered their extremely slow relaxation behavior. We have created a liquid meta-crystal of graphene oxide,a new mesophase state with stable meta-periodicity beyond ordinary molecular order,by the invented shearing microlithography to achieve the free design and control of artificial meta-structures.The proposed conformation engineering concept has underpinned the versatile design and rational control of multiscale structures of graphene macroscopic materials and promoted advanced performances of graphene fibers, films, and aerogels. The conformation principle in the case of graphene oxide can establish a unified theory of 2D polymers after the classic 1D antiquity. The conformation engineering will become a useful concept to depict the systematic“fabricationstructureproperties”loop and guide the scalable fabrication of 2D macromolecular materials. | Yanqiu Jiang Ya Wang Zhen Xu Chao Gao | 2020 | Accounts of Materials Research2020,1,3: | 1
