1Natural Variation in CCD4 Promoter Underpins Species-Specific Evolution of Red Coloration in Citrus Peel显示文摘Carotenoids and apocarotenoids act as phytohormones and volatile precursors that influence plant development and confer aesthetic and nutritional value critical to consumer preference.Citrus fruits display considerable natural variation in carotenoid and apocarotenoid pigments.In this study,using an integrated genetic approach we revealed that a 5;c/s-regulatory change at CCD4b encoding CAROTENOID CLEAVAGE DIOXYGENASE 4b is a major genetic determinant of natural variation in C3 0 apocarotenoids responsible for red coloration of citrus peel.Functional analyses demonstrated that in addition the known role in synthesizing 3-citraurin,CCD4b is also responsible for the production of another important C3 0 apocarotenoid pigment,p-citraurinene.Furthermore,analyses of the CCD4b promoter and transcripts from various citrus germplasm accessions established a tight correlation between the presence of a putative 5'c/s-regulatory enhancer within an MITE transposon and the enhanced allelic expression of CCD4b in C3 0 apocarotenoid-rich red-peeled accessions.Phylogenetic analysis provided further evidence that functional diversification of CCD4b and naturally occurring variation of the CCD4b promoter resulted in the stepwise evolution of red peels in mandarins and their hybrids.Taken together,our findings provide new insights into the genetic and evolutionary basis of apocarotenoid diversity in plants,and would facilitate breeding efforts that aim to improve the nutritional and aesthetic value of citrus and perhaps other fruit crops.Xiongjie Zheng Kaijie Zhu Quan Sun Weiyi Zhang Xia Wang Hongbo Cao Meilian Tan Zongzhou Xie Yunliu Zeng Junli Ye Lijun Chai Qiang Xu Zhiyong Pan Shunyuan Xiao Paul D.Fraser Xiuxin Deng 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,9:18
2TiO_2-loaded activated carbon fiber:Hydrothermal synthesis,adsorption properties and photo catalytic activity under visible light irradiation显示文摘TiO_2-loaded activated carbon fibers(ACF) were prepared by a hydrothermal method.The samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared(FT1R) spectrometry and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra(DRS).SEM images showed that the TiO_2nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of ACF,and the particle size and loading amount of TiO_2were varied by changing the initial concentration of tetrabutyl titanate(TBOT).The results of an ash experiment showed that the loading amounts of TiO_2 were 18.4%,43.3%,52.5%,75.1%,and 91.1%for initial concentrations of TBOT of 0.07,014,0.21,0.28,and 0.35 mol/L,respectively.Physical interactions played an important role in the formation of TiO_2/ACF composite fibers that absorb UV and visible light.Compared with those of ACF,improved adsorption and photocatalytic activity toward Rhodamine B(RhB)were observed for TiO_2/ACF composite fiber.The Rhodamine B could be removed efficiently by TiO_2/ACF composite fibers,and the TiO_2 loading amount had a significant effect on the photocatalytic activity of TiO_2/ACF composite fibers.Hao Meng Wei Hou Xinxin Xu Junli Xu Xia Zhang 2014Particuology2014,12,3:10
3Activation of anterior thalamic reticular nucleus GABAergic neurons promotes arousal from propofol anesthesia in mice显示文摘Propofol is widely used for the induction and maintenance of anesthesia,which causes a rapid loss of consciousness.However,the mechanisms underlying the hypnosis effect of propofol are still not fully understood.The thalamic reticular nucleus(TRN)is crucial for regulating wakefulness,sleep rhythm generation,and sleep stability,while the role of TRN in the process of propofol-induced anesthesia is still unknown.Here,we investigated the function of the anterior TRN in propofol general anesthesia.Our results demonstrated that the neural activity of anterior TRN is suppressed during propofol anesthesia,whereas it is robustly activated from anesthesia by recording the calcium signals using fiber photometry technology.The results showed that the activation of anterior TRN neurons by chemogenetic and optogenetic methods shortens the emergency time without changing the induction time.Conversely,chemogenetic or optogenetic inhibition of the TRN neurons leads to a delay in the recovery time.Our study showed that anterior TRN is crucial for behavioral arousal without affecting the induction time of propofol anesthesia.Yanjun Liu Bing Chen Yirong Cai Yuan Han Ying Xia Nanqi Li Bingqian Fan Tianjie Yuan Junli Jiang Po Gao Weifeng Yu Yingfu Jiao Wenxian Li 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,7:3

10Fuzheng Huayu preparation(扶正化瘀胶囊/片)combined with tenofovir disoproxil fumarate on hepatitis B:a systematic review and Meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To systematically evaluate the effectiveness of Fuzheng Huayu preparation(扶正化瘀胶囊/片,FZHY)plus tenofovir disoproxil fumarate(TDF)on hepatitis B.METHODS:Numerous databases—PubM ed,Embase,Cochrane Library,China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,WanFang Database,China Science and Technology Journal Database,and China Biological Medicine Database—were searched to identify the randomized controlled trials published from the inception of the database to November 2021.Two researchers independently conducted literature screening,data extraction,and bias risk assessment.Rev Man 5.4 software was used for Meta-analysis.RESULTS:Eight studies involving 990 patients met the inclusion criteria in the current Meta-analysis.Levels of alanine transaminase,aspartate aminotransferase,total bilirubin,hyaluronic acid,typeⅢprocollagen,laminin,and type IV collagen after combination therapy were significantly lower than those after TDF therapy alone.However,albumin levels did not differ significantly between the two regimens.Subgroup analysis based on disease progression suggested that the combination therapy improved albumin levels in patients with chronic hepatitis B but not in patients with hepatitis B-related cirrhosis.Moreover,subgroup analysis based on treatment duration suggested that the albumin levels were increased and the typeⅢprocollagen levels were decreased with the>24-week combination therapy but not with the≤24-week combination therapy.CONCLUSIONS:A combination regimen of TDF and FZHY is more effective in treating hepatitis B than TDF alone.The combination therapy can effectively alleviate hepatic fibrosis and improve liver function.However,more standardized,highquality studies with larger sample sizes are warranted to validate the study results.ZHANG Junli HE Ying ZHANG Xia FU Hongfang HU Xiaoyu 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,2:0
11Exposure to jet lag aggravates depression-like behaviors and age-related phenotypes in rats subject to chronic corticosterone显示文摘Our previous finding demonstrated that chronic corticosterone(CORT)may be involved in mediating the pathophysiology of premature aging in rats.Frequent jet lag increases the risk for many diseases,including obesity and type 2 diabetes,and is associated with the aging processes.However,the effect of jet lag on CORT-induced depression and its association with aging phenotypes remain unclear.In this study,the rats were exposed to both CORT and jet lag treatment,and the differences were analyzed and compared to rats with single CORT treatment.Our results showed that jet lag treatment aggravated CORT-induced depression-like behavior evidenced by sucrose intake test,forced swimming test,and open field test.Additionally,this treatment aggravated the shortening of telomeres,which possibly resulted in decreased telomerase activity,and downregulated the expression of telomere-binding factor 2(TRF2)and telomerase reverse transcriptase compared to that in CORT rats,as revealed by quantitative real-time-polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis,respectively.The shortening of telomeres may have been caused by increased oxidative stress,which was associated with the inhibition of sirtuin 3.Exposure to jet lag also aggravated the degeneration of mitochondrial functions,as shown by the decreases in the mRNA expression of COX1,ND1,and Tfam.Our findings provide physiological evidence that jet lag exposure may worsen stress-induced depression and age-related abnormalities.Qichen Shen Junli Wu Yuehan Ni Xiaoxian Xie Chunan Yu Qingfeng Xiao Jiafeng Zhou Xia Wang Zhengwei Fu 2019Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,8:0
12Interaction of copper with fatty acids in Soxhlet extraction and its influence显示文摘Treatment with metallic copper for the removal of elemental sulfur from bitumen extracted from sedimentary rocks or petroleum is the most widely used method. Little attention has been paid, however, to its disadvantages. It was observed that copper can interact with some polar organic substances during conventional sulfur removal, which can strongly influence the quantitative and qualitative determination of bitumen, as has been confirmed by interaction of long-chain fatty acids with copper. The copper soap generated was analyzed by element analysis, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), thermal analysis (TG-DSC) and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Mechanism of the interaction was investigated and elucidated. 13PRPF19 promotes tongue cancer growth and chemoradiotherapy resistance显示文摘Pre-mRNA processing factor 19(PRPF19)is a multifaceted protein and participates in DNA damage response and pre-mRNA processing.The role of PRPF19 in cancer is unclear.Here,we report that the expression of PRPF19 in human tongue cancer is associated with unfavorable prognosis.Overexpression of PRPF19 promotes while knockdown of PRPF19 inhibits tongue cancer cell migration,proliferation,and tumor growth.Overexpression of PRPF19 increases the resistance of tongue cancer cells to radiation and cisplatin treatment.Furthermore,PRPF19 regulates the expression of solute carrier family 40 member 1(SLC40A1)and mono-ADP ribosylhydrolase 2(MACROD2),knockdown of SLC40A1 or MACROD2 decreases the sensitivity of tongue cancer cells to radiation and cisplatin treatment.Thus,our results establish a key role of PRPF19 in tongue cancer growth and chemoradiotherapy resistance,targeting PRPF19 would be an effective therapeutic strategy for tongue cancer,especially for those resistant to chemoradiotherapy.Yihong He Changhao Huang Kaimei Cai Pei Liu Xueyan Chen Yi Xu Zhengnan Ming Qingqing Liu Qiongxuan Xie Xue Xia Yangqing Sun Junli Luo Rui Wei 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,7:0
