| 1 | Pharmacological effects of Astragaloside IV: a literature review显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To review the pharmacological effects and mechanisms of action of Astragaloside IV in Huangqi (Radix Astragali Mongolici). METHODS: Aticles focusing on Astragaloside IV in English and Chinese in databases were collected and reviewed in order to summarize the latest extraction separation, pharmacokinetics, and the pharmacological effects of astrageloside IV. RESULTS: Protective effects of Astrageloside IV on the cardiovascular system, immune, digestive, nervous system were identified, and the action mechanisms were associated with regulation of the calcium balance, anti-oxydant, antiapoptosis, antivirus, and so on. | 3 | Bone morphogenetic protein-7 represses hepatic stellate cell activation and liver fibrosis via regulation of TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway显示文摘BACKGROUND Liver fibrosis is a refractory disease whose persistence can eventually induce cirrhosis or even liver cancer.Early liver fibrosis is reversible by intervention.As a member of the transforming growth factor-beta(TGF-β)superfamily,bone morphogenetic protein 7(BMP7)has anti-liver fibrosis functions.However,little is known about BMP7 expression changes and its potential regulatory mechanism as well as the relationship between BMP7 and TGF-βduring liver fibrosis.In addition,the mechanism underlying the anti-liver fibrosis function of BMP7 needs to be further explored.AIM To investigate changes in the dynamic expression of BMP7 during liver fibrosis,interactions between BMP7 and TGF-β1,and possible mechanisms underlying the anti-liver fibrosis function of BMP7.METHODS Changes in BMP7 expression during liver fibrosis and the interaction between BMP7 and TGF-β1 in mice were observed.Exogenous BMP7 was used to treat mouse primary hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)to observe its effect on activation,migration,and proliferation of HSCs and explore the possible mechanism underlying the anti-liver fibrosis function of BMP7.Mice with liver fibrosis received exogenous BMP7 intervention to observe improvement of liver fibrosis by using Masson’s trichrome staining and detecting the expression of the HSC activation indicator alpha-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA)and the collagen formation associated protein type I collagen(Col I).Changes in the dynamic expression of BMP7 during liver fibrosis in the human body were further observed.RESULTS In the process of liver fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)in mice,BMP7 protein expression first increased,followed by a decrease;there was a similar trend in the human body.This process was accompanied by a sustained increase in TGF-β1 protein expression.In vitro experiment results showed that TGF-β1 inhibited BMP7 expression in a time-and dose-dependent manner.In contrast,high doses of exogenous BMP7 inhibited TGF-β1-induced activation,migration,and proliferation of HSCs;this inhibitory effect was associated with upregulation of pSmad1/5/8 and downregulation of phosphorylation of Smad3 and p38 by BMP7.In vivo experiment results showed that exogenous BMP7 improved liver fibrosis in mice.CONCLUSION During liver fibrosis,BMP7 protein expression first increases and then decreases.This changing trend is associated with inhibition of BMP7 expression by sustained upregulation of TGF-β1 in a time-and dose-dependent manner.Exogenous BMP7 could selectively regulate TGF-β/Smad pathway-associated factors to inhibit activation,migration,and proliferation of HSCs and exert antiliver fibrosis functions.Exogenous BMP7 has the potential to be used as an antiliver fibrosis drug. | Gao-Liang Zou Shi Zuo Shuang Lu Rui-Han Hu Yin-Ying Lu Jing Yang Kai-Sheng Deng Ye-Ting Wu Mao Mu Juan-Juan Zhu Jing-Zhang Zeng Bao-Fang Zhang Xian Wu Xue-Ke Zhao Hai-Yang Li | 2019 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,30: | 15 |
| 4 | Sini powder ameliorates the inflammatory response in rats with stress-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease by inhibiting the nuclear factor kappa-B/pyrin domain-containing protein 3 pathway显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of Sini powder for the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) in rats and the molecular mechanisms involved.METHODS: A rat model of stress-induced NAFLD was established by a combination of long-term tethering and feeding of a high-fat, high-calorie diet. These rats were then intragastrically administered with either simvastatin, Sini powder, or vehicle for 1 week. The body mass and field test scores for each group were recorded weekly. Serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase activities, and triglyceride, total cholesterol,and free fatty acid concentrations were measured.Liver tissue histopathology was examined on hematoxylin and eosin-stained paraffin sections and oil red O-stained frozen sections. The hepatic m RNA expression of nuclear factor kappa-B(NF-κB),NOD-, LRR-, and pyrin domain-containing protein 3(NLRP3), apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing CARD(ASC), and caspase-1 were measured by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). The hepatic protein concentrations of NF-κB and NLRP3, ASC, caspase-1, interleukin-1β(IL-1β), interleukin-6(IL-6), and the serum concentrations of IL-1β and IL-6 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS: Compared with the Blank group, rats in the Compound model group showed significant pathologic manifestations of NAFLD, and the expression of NF-κB, NLRP3, ASC, caspase-1, IL-1βand IL-6 were significantly higher(all P < 0.01). Both simvastatin and Sini powder significantly ameliorated the NAFLD pathology and the abnormal expression of NF-κB, NLRP3, ASC, caspase-1, IL-1β, and IL-6(all P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: Sini powder inhibits the inflamma-tory response in rats with NAFLD, which is mediated by NF-κB/NLRP3, IL-1β, and IL-6, reduces the effects of psychological stress, and improves lipid metabolism. | 7 | Mechanism underlying effect of Chaihu Shugan San(柴胡疏肝散)on major depressive disorder:a network pharmacology-based study显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the mechanism underpinning the effect of Chaihu Shugan San(柴胡疏肝散,CHSGS)on major depressive disorder(MDD).METHODS:We searched the compound components of from seven herbal ingredients of CHSGS from TCMSP,SymMap,ETCM,NPASS databases,and the chemical structure of the compound from PubChem,and collected the compound targets from TCMSP and TargetNet databases,and MDD-related targets from DiseaseGene Network.We established protein-protein interaction in the STRING database.Through gene mapping,topology analysis and enrichment analysis,the core targets and pathways of CHSGS for MDD,and the involved biological processes(BP),cell components(CC),and molecular functions(MF)were predicted.RESULTS:We collected a total of 1135 CHSGS compounds.After screening by ADME standards and the five rules of Ribinski,we obtained 99 different chemical components with different chemical structures,and related targets of 183 different CHSGS compounds.In the DiseaseGene Network,a total of 740 relevant targets for MDD were collected.Through gene mapping and topological analysis,62 related targets of CHSGS for MDD,24 targets with topological Chinese herbal medicine were obtained.Through enrichment analysis,10 relevant pathways and 3 core pathways were obtained with the involvement of 127 BP,27 CC,and 43 MF.CONCLUSION:There are multiple targets and signaling pathways are involved in the action of CHSGS in the treatment of MDD. | MU Jie ZHANG Shuang TANG Feifei LIU Shuling ZHANG Qianyi DU Qianlei WANG Xueqian WANG Qingguo CHENG Fafeng | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,2: | 4 |
| 8 | Effects of Polysaccharides from Pulsatilla Decoction on the Microvascular Endothelial Glycocalyx显示文摘Pulsatilla decoction is a famous traditional Chinese herbal formula for clearing heat and treating dysentery of animals or human. To elucidate its mechanism, many active components have been studied, however, the roles of its polysaccharides still remain unclear. This study aimed to explore effects of polysaccharides from Pulsatilla decoction(PPD) on the microvascular endothelial glycocalyx(e GC). The polysaccharides were extracted from PPD by water extraction and alcohol precipitation method. Mice were administered with PPD for 4 wk, and were then anesthetized with ether inhalation and were fixed by cardiac perfusion with gradient concentration alcian blue solution. The jejunum was sampled and jejunal mucosa was prepared for ultrathin sections by routine method and was analyzed by transmission electron microscope. The results indicated that the e GC was observed as a strong electron-dense smooth linear margin or nonuniform conglomerates coating cell membranes, and PPD significantly increased its thickness from(21.85±1.87) to(28.71±3.61) nm and improved its integrity. | 9 | Heterogeneous electrolyte membranes enabling double-side stable interfaces for solid lithium batteries显示文摘The solid polymer electrolyte(SPE) is one of the most promising candidates for building solid lithium batteries with high energy density and safety due to its advantages of flexibility and light-weight.However,the conventional monolayered electrolytes usually exhibit unstable contacts with either high-voltage cathodes or Li-metal anodes during cell operation.Herein,heterogeneous dual-layered electrolyte membranes(HDEMs) consisting of the specific functional polymer matrixes united with the designed solid ceramic fillers are constructed to address the crucial issues of interfacial instability.The electrolyte layers composed of the high-conductivity and oxidation-resistance polyacrylonitrile(PAN) combined with Li_(0.33)La_(0.557)TiO_(3) nanofibers are in contact with the high-voltage cathodes,achieving the compatible interface between the cathodes and the electrolytes.Meanwhile,the electrolyte layers composed of the highstability and dendrite-resistance polyethylene oxide(PEO) with Li_(6.4)La_(3) Zr_(1.4)Ta_(0.6)O_(12) nanoparticles are in contact with the Li-metal anodes,aiming to suppress the dendrite growth,as well as avoid the passivation between the PAN and the Li-metal.Consequently,the solid LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O2‖Li full cells based on the designed HDEMs show the good rate and cycling performance,i.e.the discharge capacity of 170.1 mAh g^(-1) with a capacity retention of 78.2% after 100 cycles at 0.1 C and 30℃.The results provide an effective strategy to construct the heterogeneous electrolyte membranes with double-side stable electrode/-electrolyte interfaces for the high-voltage and dendrite-free solid lithium batteries. | Shuang Mu Weilin Huang Wuhui Sun Ning Zhao Mengyang Jia Zhijie Bi Xiangxin Guo | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,9: | 2 |

| 11 | Nanoparticle‑Loaded Polarized‑Macrophages for Enhanced Tumor Targeting and Cell‑Chemotherapy显示文摘Cell therapy is a promising strategy for cancer therapy.However,its therapeutic efficiency remains limited due to the complex and immunosuppressive nature of tumor microenvironments.In this study,the“cell-chemotherapy”strategy was presented to enhance antitumor efficacy.M1-type macrophages,which are therapeutic immune cells with both of immunotherapeutic ability and targeting ability,carried sorafenib(SF)-loaded lipid nanoparticles(M1/SLNPs)were developed.M1-type macrophages were used both as therapeutic tool to provide immunotherapy and as delivery vessel to target deliver SF to tumor tissues for chemotherapy simultaneously.M1-type macrophages were obtained by polarizing macrophages using lipopolysaccharide,and M1/SLNPs were obtained by incubating M1-type macrophages with SLNP.Tumor accumulation of M1/SLNP was increased compared with SLNP(p<0.01),which proved M1/SLNP could enhance tumor targeting of SF.An increased ratio of M1-type macrophages to M2-type macrophages,and the CD3^+CD4^+T cells and CD3^+CD8^+T cell quantities in tumor tissues after treatment with M1/SLNP indicated M1/SLNP could relieve the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments.The tumor volumes in the M1/SLNP group were significantly smaller than those in the SLNP group(p<0.01),indicating M1/SLNP exhibited enhanced antitumor efficacy.Consequently,M1/SLNP showed great potential as a novel cellchemotherapeutic strategy combining both cell therapy and targeting chemotherapy. | Teng Hou Tianqi Wang Weiwei Mu Rui Yang Shuang Liang Zipeng Zhang Shunli Fu Tong Gao Yongjun Liu Na Zhang | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,1: | 1 |

| 13 | Genetic Characteristics and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Arcobacter butzleri Isolates from Raw Chicken Meat and Patients with Diarrhea in China显示文摘Arcobacter is an emerging foodborne pathogen worldwide.In this study,the prevalence,antimicrobial susceptibility and genetic characteristics of Arcobacter from different sources were investigated.Eighteen A.butzleri isolates were obtained from 60 raw chicken meat samples(16/60,27%)and 150 patients with diarrhea(2/150,1.3%).The resistance ratios to nalidixic acid,ciprofloxacin,clindamycin,chloramphenicol,and florfenicol were 83.33%(15/18),38.89%(7/18),38.89%(7/18),33.33%(6/18)and 33.33%(6/18),respectively.We performed whole genome sequencing of the 18 isolates,and we predicted antibiotic resistance genes and virulence factors by using assembled genomes through blastx analysis.Two resistance genes,blaOXA-464 and tet(H),and the C254T mutation in gyrA,were identified in the genomes of some resistant isolates.Furthermore,virulence genes,such as flgG,flhA,flhB,fliI,fliP,motA,cadF,cjl349,ciaB,mviN,pldA and tlyA,were found in all strains,whereas hecA,hecB and iroE were found in only some strains.Phylogenetic tree analysis of A.butzleri isolates on the basis of the core-genome single nucleotide polymorphisms showed that two isolates from patients with diarrhea clustered together,separately from the isolates from raw chicken and the chicken strains.This study is the first comprehensive analysis of Arcobacter isolated in Beijing. | WANG Yuan Yuan ZHOU Gui Lan LI Ying GU Yi Xin HE Mu ZHANG Shuang JI Guo Qiang YANG Jie WANG Miao MA Hong Mei ZHANG Mao Jun | 2021 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2021,34,12: | 1 |

| 15 | Differences Between the Concentrations in Rabbit Body Fluid of Berberine Hydrochloride, Chlorogenic Acid, Baicalin, and Their Minimal Inhibitory Concentrations显示文摘To explore the relationship between the heat-clearing and detoxicating functions and the bacteriostatic actions of berberine hydrochloride (Ber. H), chlorogenic acid (Chlo. A), and baicalin (Bai), their concentrations in rabbit body fluid were compared with their minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs). Their concentrations in rabbit blood and tissue fluid were determined by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography, and their MICs to Escherichia coli were determined by tube dilution method. The results showed that the peak concentrations of Ber. H, Chlo. A, and Bai in rabbit blood were 3.2, 5.03, and 7.63 μg mL-1, and in rabbit tissue fluid were 0.12, 0.11, and 0.12 μg mL-1, respectively. Their MICs to E. coli were, respectively, 1.0 × 103, 3.75 × 103, and 6.75 × 103 μg mL-1, which were far higher than the concentrations in rabbit body fluids. This study indicates that Ber. H, Chlo. | 20 | Phosphorus/nitrogen co-doped hollow carbon fibers enabling high-rate potassium storage显示文摘Potassium-ion hybrid capacitors(PIHCs)reconcile the advantages of batteries and supercapacitors,exhibiting both good energy density and high-power density.However,the low-rate performance and poor cycle stability of battery-type anodes hinder their practical application.Herein,phosphorus/nitrogen co-doped hollow carbon fibers(P-HCNFs)are prepared by a facile template method.The stable grape-like structure with continuous and interconnected cavity structure is an ideal scaffold for shortening the ion transport and relieving volume expansion,while the introduction of P atoms and intrinsic N atoms can create abundant extrinsic/intrinsic defects and additional active sites,reducing the K+diffusion barrier and improving the capacitive-controlled capacity.The P-HCNFs delivers a high specific capacity of 310 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1 A·g^(-1)with remarkable ultra-high-rate performance(140 mAh·g^(-1)at 50 A·g^(-1))and retains an impressive capacity retention of 87%after 10,000 cycles at 10 A·g^(-1).As expected,the as-assembled PIHCs present a high energy density(115.8 Wh·kg^(-1)at 378.0 W·kg^(-1))and excellent capacity retention of 91%after 20,000 cycles.This work not only shows great potential for utilizing heteroatom-doping and structural design strategies to boost potassium storage,but also paves the way for advancing the practicality of high-energy PIHCs devices. | Yu Zhou Shuang Tian Min-Yu Jia Pei-Bo Gao Guang-Chao Yin Xiao-Mei Wang Jing-Lin Mu Jin Zhou Tong Zhou | 2023 | Rare Metals2023,42,8: | 1 |
