Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear. Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks. Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes.MA Yan ZHU Dong Shan CHEN Ren Bo SHI Nan Nan LIU Si Hong FAN Yi Pin WU Gui Hui YANG Pu Ye BAI Jiang Feng CHEN Hong CHEN Li Ying FENG Qiao GUO Tuan Mao HOU Yong HU Gui Fen HU Xiao Mei HU Yun Hong HUANG Jin HUANG Qiu Hua HUANG Shao Zhen JI Liang JIN Hai Hao LEI Xiao LI Chun Yan LI Min Qing LI Qun Tang LI Xian Yong LIU Hong De LIU Jin Ping LIU Zhang MA Yu Ting MAO Ya MO Liu Fen NA Hui WANG Jing Wei SONG Fang Li SUN Sheng WANG Dong Ting WANG Ming Xuan WANG Xiao Yan WANG Yin Zhen WANG Yu Dong WU Wei WU Lan Ping XIAO Yan Hua XIE Hai Jun XU Hong Ming XU Shou Fang XUE Rui Xia YANG Chun YANG Kai Jun YUAN Sheng Li ZHANG Gong Qi ZHANG Jin Bo ZHANG Lin Song ZHAO Shu Sen ZHAO Wan Ying ZHENG Kai ZHOU Ying Chun ZHU Jun Teng ZHU Tian Qing ZHANG Hua Min WANG Yan Ping WANG Yong Yan 2020Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,12:8
A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. 5Histopathological Effects of the Protein Toxin from Xenorhabdus nematophila on the Midgut of Helicoverpa armigera显示文摘Xenorhabdus nematophila HB310, which is highly virulent for many insects, is symbiotic with Steinernema carpocapsae HB310. Toxin Ⅱ was obtained using methods such as salting out and native-PAGE from the cells of X. nematophila HB310. The histopathology of toxin Ⅱ on H. armigera larvae was studied by dissecting an olefin slice of the midgut. The symptoms showed that the histopathology of the H. armigera midgut was similar to that of other novel midgut-active toxins such as the δ-endotoxins from Bacillus thuringiensis, as well as Tca from Photorhabdus luminescens W14. The midgut tissues of H. armigera fourth-instar larvae began to transform after the oral intake of the toxin Ⅱ over 6 h. First, the anterior region of the peritrophic membrane (PM) began to degrade followed by the elongation of the columnar cells. The epithelium decomposed gradually, and the midgut tissues were either loose or disordered. The PM disappeared after 12 h but reappeared after 72 h following transient or sublethal exposure to the toxin Ⅱ. Toxin Ⅱ also directly destroyed in vitro PMs of H. armigera.NANGONG Zi-yan WANG Qin-ying SONG Ping YANG Jun MAO Wen-jie 2006Agricultural Sciences in China2006,5,9:5
Tannic acid extracted from gallnut prevents post-weaning diarrhea and improves intestinal health of weaned piglets显示文摘This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of different levels of tannic acid(TA)on growth performance, diarrhea rate, nutrient digestibility and intestinal health in weaned piglets.A total of 180 weaned piglets(Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire,24 d of age, initial average BW=7.77±0.17 kg)were allotted to 5 groups(6 pigs/pen and 6 replicates/group)in a randomized complete block design according to their gender and body weight.Piglets were fed a basal diet,or the basal diet supplemented with 0.05%,0.1%,0.2%or 0.4%TA for 28 d.The supplementary levels of TA in the diets were obtained by adding tannalbin containing 51%TA and 40.17%protein.The results showed that, compared with the CON group, dietary TA did not affect ADFI,ADG or F:G,and linearly reduced(P<0.01)the diarrhea rate and diarrhea index of piglets. There were no significant effects on apparent total tract digestibility(ATTD)in the 0.05%,0.1%and 0.2%TA groups, while negative effects(P<0.05)on apparent digestibility of crude protein and gross energy were observed in the 0.4%TA group. In addition, the nutrient digestibility of dry matter, crude protein and gross energy linearly decreased(P<0.01)with the increase of TA dosage.Supplementation of TA increased(P<0.05)the villus height of the duodenum and jejunum,as well as increased(P<0.05)catalase(CAT)activity in serum.Dietary TA improved(P<0.05)the Bacillus counts in cecal digesta.Further,TA significantly improved(P<0.05)Bacillus counts and reduced(P<0.05)the Escherichia coli counts in colonic digesta. The concentration of acetic acid, pro pionic acid, butyric acid and isovaleric acid in cecal digesta were significantly increased(P<0.05).The mRNA expression level of zonula occludens-1(Z0-1),zonula occludens-2(ZI-2),and claudin-2(CLDN-2)in the jejunum were greater(P<0.05)in TA supplemented groups. The study showed that, compared to the control,TA prevented post-weaning diarrhea and improved intestinal health of weaned piglets, and the appropriate level of TA supplementation would be from 0.1%to 0.2%.Yanyan Song Yong Luo Bing Yu Jun He Ping Zheng Xiangbing Mao Zhiqing Huang Junqiu Luo Yuheng Luo Hui Yan Quyuan Wang Huifen Wang Daiwen Chen Jie Yu 2021Animal Nutrition2021,,4:5
The landscape of aging显示文摘Aging is characterized by a progressive deterioration of physiological integrity, leading to impaired functional ability and ultimately increased susceptibility to death. It is a major risk factor for chronic human diseases, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurological degeneration, and cancer. Therefore, the growing emphasis on “healthy aging” raises a series of important questions in life and social sciences. In recent years, there has been unprecedented progress in aging research, particularly the discovery that the rate of aging is at least partly controlled by evolutionarily conserved genetic pathways and biological processes. In an attempt to bring full-fledged understanding to both the aging process and age-associated diseases,we review the descriptive, conceptual, and interventive aspects of the landscape of aging composed of a number of layers at the cellular, tissue, organ, organ system, and organismal levels.Yusheng Cai Wei Song Jiaming Li Ying Jing Chuqian Liang Liyuan Zhang Xia Zhang Wenhui Zhang Beibei Liu Yongpan An Jingyi Li Baixue Tang Siyu Pei Xueying Wu Yuxuan Liu Cheng-Le Zhuang Yilin Ying Xuefeng Dou Yu Chen Fu-Hui Xiao Dingfeng Li Ruici Yang Ya Zhao Yang Wang Lihui Wang Yujing Li Shuai Ma Si Wang Xiaoyuan Song Jie Ren Liang Zhang Jun Wang Weiqi Zhang Zhengwei Xie Jing Qu Jianwei Wang Yichuan Xiao Ye Tian Gelin Wang Ping Hu Jing Ye Yu Sun Zhiyong Mao Qing-Peng Kong Qiang Liu Weiguo Zou Xiao-Li Tian Zhi-Xiong Xiao Yong Liu Jun-Ping Liu Moshi Song Jing-Dong J.Han Guang-Hui Liu 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,12:4
Germacranolide sesquiterpenes from Carpesium cernuum and their anti-leukemia activity显示文摘In this study, three new germacranolide sesquiterpenes(1–3),together with six related known analogues(4–9)were isolated from the whole plant of Carpesium cernuum.Their structures were established by a combination of extensive NMR spectroscopic analysis,HR-ESIMS data, and ECD calculations. The anti-leukemia activities of all compounds towards three cell lines(HEL,KG-1a,and K562)were evaluated in vitro.Compounds 1–3 exhibited moderate cytotoxicity with IC50 values ranging from 1.59 to 5.47μmol·L^(−1).Mechanistic studies indicated that 2 induced apoptosis by decreasing anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 and activating the caspase family in K562 cells. These results suggest that compound 2 is a potential anti-leukemia agent.YAN Chen LONG Qun ZHANG Yun-Dong BABU Gajendran KRISHNAPRIYA Madhu Varier QIU Jian-Fei SONG Jing-Rui RAO Qing YI Ping SUN Mao LI Yan-Mei 2021Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2021,19,7:3
Tannic acid prevents post-weaning diarrhea by improving intestinal barrier integrity and function in weaned piglets显示文摘Background:Tannic acid(TA)is potential to reduce diarrhea in weaning pigs, but knowledge about the influence of TA on intestinal barrier integrity and function is still scarce. This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary TA supplementation on growth performance, diarrhea rate, intestinal barrier integrity and function of weaned pigs. Methods:A total of 108 crossbred(Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire)piglets, with an initial average body weight of 6.60±0.27 kg,were allotted to 3 groups(6 pigs/pen and 6 replicates/group)in a randomized complete block design according to their gender and body weight.Piglets were fed the basal diet with 0(control,CON),0.2%and 1.0%TA,respectively.The trial lasted for 28 d.Results:Compared with the CON group, dietary 0.2%and 1.0%TA supplementation didn’t affect ADFI,ADG and F:G(P>0.05),but reduced diarrhea rate, diarrhea index and diarrhea score of piglets(P<0.05),reduced diamine oxidase(DAO)activity and D-lactic acid concentration in serum(P<0.01).The higher occludin expression and localization were observed in the duodenum, jejunum and ileum after supplementation with 0.2%or 1.0%TA(P<0.05).Adding 0.2%TA to diet significantly decreased crypt depth, increased villus height/crypt depth ratio in the duodenum(P<0.05),and dietary 1.0%TA tended to decrease crypt depth(P<0.10)and significantly decreased villus height(P<0.05)of the ileum. Moreover, lower malondialdehyde content in the ileum was detected in the pigs fed 1.0%TA(P<0.05).In the duodenum, both 0.2%and 1.0%TA groups had higher occludin(OCLN)mRNA and 0.2%TA group had higher zonula occludens-2(ZO-2)level(P<0.05).Meanwhile,dietary 1.0%TA supplementation tended to up-regulate OCLN mRNA levels in the jejunum(P<0.10)and 0.2%TA supplementation tended to up-regulate zonula occludens-1(ZO-1)mRNA levels in the ileum(P<0.10).Conclusion:In conclusion, dietary supplementation of 0.2%or 1.0%TA could effectively alleviate postweaning diarrhea without altering growth performance in weaned piglets, which might be achieved by improving intestinal barrier integrity and function.Jie Yu Yanyan Song Bing Yu Jun He Ping Zheng Xiangbing Mao Zhiqing Huang Yuheng Luo Junqiu Luo Hui Yan Quyuan Wang Huifen Wang Daiwen Chen 2021Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,2:3
Critical Heat Flux(CHF)Correlations for Subcooled Water Flow Boiling at High Pressure and High Heat Flux显示文摘The subcooled water flow boiling is beneficial for removing the high heat flux from the divertor in the fusion reactor, for which an accurate critical heat flux(CHF)correlation is necessary.Up to now, there are many CHF correlations mentioned for subcooled water flow boiling in the open literatures. However, the CHF correlations’accuracies for the prediction of subcooled water flow boiling are not satisfactory at high heat flux and high pressure for reactor divertor. The present paper compiled 1356 CHF experimental data points from 15 independent open literatures and evaluated 10 existing CHF correlations in subcooled water flow boiling. From the evaluation, the W-2 CHF correlation performs best for the experimental CHF data in all existing critical heat flux correlations. However, the predicted mean absolute error(MAE)of the W-2 correlation is not very ideal for all database and the MAE of the W-2 correlation is from 30%to 50%for some database. In order to enhance the CHF prediction accuracy in subcooled water flow boiling at high heat flux and high pressure, the present paper developed a new CHF correlation.Compared with other existing CHF correlations, the new CHF correlation greatly enhances the prediction accuracy over a broad range of pressures and heat fluxes which are desired in the cooling of high heat flux devices, such as those in the fusion reactor divertor. The validation results show that the new correlation has a MAE of 10.05%and a root mean squared error(RMSE)of 16.61%,predicting 68.1%of the entire database within±10%and 81.5%within±15%.The MAE of the new CHF correlation is 7.4%less than that of the best existing one(W-2 correlation),further confirming its superior prediction accuracy and reliability.Besides, the new CHF correlation works well not only for a uniform power profile but also for a non-uniform power profile in subcooled water flow boiling at high pressure and high heat flux.LIU Ping GUO Yusheng DING Wenlong TANG Mingyun SONG Yuntao PENG Xuebing JI Jiadong CHEN Qinghua MAO Xin 2021Journal of Thermal Science2021,30,1:2

Multiple omics datasets reveal significant physical and physiological dormancy in alfalfa hard seeds identified by multispectral imaging analysis显示文摘Physical dormancy(PY) commonly present in the seeds of higher plants is believed to be responsible for the germination failure by impermeable seed coat in hard seeds of legume species, instead of physiological dormancy(PD). In this study, a non-destructive approach involving multispectral imaging was used to successfully identify hard seeds from non-hard seeds in Medicago sativa, with accuracy as high as96.8%–99.0%. We further adopted multiple-omics strategies to investigate the differences of physiology, metabolomics, methylomics, and transcriptomics in alfalfa hard seeds, with non-hard seeds as control. The hard seeds showed dramatically increased antioxidants and 125 metabolites of significant differences in non-targeted metabolomics analysis, which are enriched in the biosynthesis pathways of flavonoids, lipids and hormones, especially with significantly higher ABA, a hormone known to induce dormancy. In our transcriptomics results, the enrichment pathway of “response to abscisic acid” of differential expressed genes(DEG) supported the key role of ABA in metabolomics results. The methylome analysis identified 54,899, 46,216 and 54,452 differential methylation regions for contexts of CpG, CHG and CHH, and 344 DEGs might be regulated by hypermethylation and hypomethylation of promoter and exon regions, including four ABA-and JA-responsive genes. Among 8% hard seeds in seed lots,24.5% still did not germinate after scarifying seed coat, and were named as non-PY hard seeds.Compared to hard seeds, significantly higher contents of ABA/IAA and ABA/JA were identified in nonPY hard seeds, which indicated the potential presence of PD. In summary, the significantly changed metabolites, gene expressions, and methylations all suggested involvement of ABA responses in hard seeds, and germination failure of alfalfa hard seeds was caused by combinational dormancy(PY + PD),rather than PY alone.Xuemeng Wang Han Zhang Rui Song Ming Sun Ping Liu Peixin Tian Peisheng Mao Shangang Jia 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,5:1
Laws,Defects and Countermeasures on the Circulation of Rural Housing Land——From the Perspective of Farmer Rights Protection显示文摘The thesis combs the existing legal provisions about rural housing land from the perspectives of use restriction, means restriction, subject restriction and mortgage prohibition, and finds out their defects, namely, weakening real right, confused knowledge about the integration of house property and land property, the loophole in Land Administration Law,the bans on the rural residents' purchase of housing land and so on.Then the thesis expounds the harms of restricting the circulation of housing land, for example,it will result in underground transaction of housing lands;lead to untenanted lands and waste of resources;bring about financing difficulty for peasants;do harm to the interest of land owners(rural collective economic organizations) and so on.The thesis further proposes to establish the legal lease model to solve the problems in the circulation of housing lands, specifically explains the definition of the legal lease model of housing lands, illustrates its detailed information from the aspects of object, subject and content and elaborates a series of problems involving, how to distribute the rent of housing lands,as well as how to perfect relevant procedures and formalities in the credit circulation of housing lands so as to realize the legitimate and effective circulation of rural housing lands and protect the peasants' interests.MAO Ping SONG Jiao PAN Qiang 2010Asian Agricultural Research2010,2,6:1
Electron-ion collider in China显示文摘Lepton scattering is an established ideal tool for studying inner structure of small particles such as nucleons as well as nuclei. As a future high energy nuclear physics project,an Electron-ion collider in China(EicC)has been proposed. It will be constructed based on an upgraded heavy-ion accelerator,High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility(HIAF)which is currently under construction, together with a new electron ring. The proposed collider will provide highly polarized electrons(with a po-larization of 80%)and protons(with a polarization of 70%)with variable center of mass energies from 15 to 20 GeV and the luminosity of(2–3)×1033 cm^(−2)·s^(−1).Polarized deuterons and Helium-3,as well as unpolarized ion beams from Carbon to Uranium, will be also available at the EicC.The main foci of the EicC will be precision measurements of the structure of the nucleon in the sea quark region, including 3D tomography of nucleon;the partonic structure of nuclei and the parton interaction with the nuclear environment;the exotic states, especially those with heavy flavor quark contents. In addition, issues fundamental to understanding the origin of mass could be addressed by measurements of heavy quarkonia near-threshold production at the EicC.In order to achieve the above-mentioned physics goals,a hermetical detector system will be constructed with cutting-edge technologies. This document is the result of collective contributions and valuable inputs from experts across the globe. The EicC physics program complements the ongoing scientific programs at the Jefferson Laboratory and the future EIC project in the United States. The success of this project will also advance both nuclear and particle physics as well as accelerator and detector technology in China.Daniele PAnderle Valerio Bertone Xu Cao Lei Chang Ningbo Chang Gu Chen Xurong Chen Zhuojun Chen Zhufang Cui Lingyun Dai Weitian Deng Minghui Ding Xu Feng Chang Gong Longcheng Gui Feng-Kun Guo Chengdong Han Jun He Tie-Jiun Hou Hongxia Huang Yin Huang KrešImir KumeričKi LPKaptari Demin Li Hengne Li Minxiang Li Xueqian Li Yutie Liang Zuotang Liang Chen Liu Chuan Liu Guoming Liu Jie Liu Liuming Liu Xiang Liu Tianbo Liu Xiaofeng Luo Zhun Lyu Boqiang Ma Fu Ma Jianping Ma Yugang Ma Lijun Mao Cédric Mezrag HervéMoutarde Jialun Ping Sixue Qin Hang Ren Craig DRoberts Juan Rojo Guodong Shen Chao Shi Qintao Song Hao Sun PawełSznajder Enke Wang Fan Wang Qian Wang Rong Wang Ruiru Wang Taofeng Wang Wei Wang Xiaoyu Wang Xiaoyun Wang Jiajun Wu Xinggang Wu Lei Xia Bowen Xiao Guoqing Xiao Ju-Jun Xie Yaping Xie Hongxi Xing Hushan Xu Nu Xu Shusheng Xu Mengshi Yan Wenbiao Yan Wencheng Yan Xinhu Yan Jiancheng Yang Yi-Bo Yang Zhi Yang Deliang Yao Zhihong Ye Peilin Yin C-PYuan Wenlong Zhan Jianhui Zhang Jinlong Zhang Pengming Zhang Yifei Zhang Chao-Hsi Chang Zhenyu Zhang Hongwei Zhao Kuang-Ta Chao Qiang Zhao Yuxiang Zhao Zhengguo Zhao Liang Zheng Jian Zhou Xiang Zhou Xiaorong Zhou Bingsong Zou Liping Zou 2021Frontiers of physics2021,16,6:1
Scientific objectives of the Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor(HUBS) mission显示文摘The Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor(HUBS) is a proposed space-based X-ray telescope for detecting X-ray emissions from the hot gas content in our universe. With its unprecedented spatially-resolved high-resolution spectroscopy and large field of view, the HUBS mission will be uniquely qualified to measure the physical and chemical properties of the hot gas in the interstellar medium, the circumgalactic medium, the intergalactic medium, and the intracluster medium. These measurements will be valuable for two key scientific goals of HUBS, namely to unravel the AGN and stellar feedback physics that governs the formation and evolution of galaxies, and to probe the baryon budget and multi-phase states from galactic to cosmological scales. In addition to these two goals, the HUBS mission will also help us solve some problems in the fields of galaxy clusters, AGNs, difuse X-ray backgrounds, supernova remnants, and compact objects. This paper discusses the perspective of advancing these fields using the HUBS telescope.Joel Bregman Renyue Cen Yang Chen Wei Cui Taotao Fang Fulai Guo Edmund Hodges-Kluck Rui Huang Luis C.Ho Li Ji Suoqing Ji Xi Kang Xiaoyu Lai Hui Li Jiangtao Li Miao Li Xiangdong Li Yuan Li Zhaosheng Li Guiyun Liang Helei Liu Wenhao Liu Fangjun Lu Junjie Mao Gabriele Ponti Zhijie Qu Chenxi Shan Lijing Shao Fangzheng Shi Xinwen Shu Lei Sun Mouyuan Sun Hao Tong Junfeng Wang Junxian Wang Q.Daniel Wang Song Wang Tinggui Wang Weiyang Wang Zhongxiang Wang Dandan Xu Haiguang Xu Heng Xu Renxin Xu Xiaojie Xu Yongquan Xue Hang Yang Feng Yuan Shuinai Zhang Yuning Zhang Zhongli Zhang Yuanyuan Zhao Enping Zhou Ping Zhou 2023Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2023,66,9:1
