2Programmable time-domain digital-coding metasurface for non-linear harmonic manipulation and new wireless communication systems显示文摘Optical non-linear phenomena are typically observed in natural materials interacting with light at high intensities, and they benefit a diverse range of applications from communication to sensing. However,controlling harmonic conversion with high efficiency and flexibility remains a major issue in modern optical and radio-frequency systems. Here, we introduce a dynamic time-domain digital-coding metasurface that enables efficient manipulation of spectral harmonic distribution. By dynamically modulating the local phase of the surface reflectivity, we achieve accurate control of different harmonics in a highly programmable and dynamic fashion, enabling unusual responses, such as velocity illusion. As a relevant application, we propose and realize a novel architecture for wireless communication systems based on the time-domain digital-coding metasurface, which largely simplifies the architecture of modern communication systems, at the same time yielding excellent performance for real-time signal transmission. 3Effects of penehyclidine hydrochloride on rat intestinal barrier function during cardiopulmonary bypass显示文摘AIM:To test the ability of penehyclidine hydrochloride (PHC) to attenuate intestinal injury in a rat cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) model.METHODS:Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into six groups (eight each):sham-operated control;sham-operated low-dose PHC control (0.6 mg/kg);sham-operated high-dose PHC control (2.0 mg/kg);CPB vehicle control;CPB low-dose PHC (0.6 mg/kg);and CPB high-dose PHC (2.0 mg/kg).Blood samples were collected from the femoral artery 2 h after CPB for determination of plasma diamine oxidase (DAO),D-lactate and endotoxin levels.Spleen,liver,mesenteric lymph nodes and lung were removed for biochemical analyses.Intestinal tissue ultrastructure was examined by electron microscopy.RESULTS:In the sham-operated groups,high-and low-dose-PHC had no significant impact on the levels of DAO,D-lactate and endotoxin,or the incidence of intestinal bacterial translocation (BT).Serum levels of DAO,D-lactate,endotoxin and the incidence of intestinal BT were significantly increased in the surgical groups,compared with the sham-operated groups (0.543 ± 0.061,5.697 ± 0.272,14.75 ± 2.46,and 0/40 vs 1.038 ± 0.252,9.377 ± 0.769,60.37 ± 5.63,and 30/40,respectively,all P < 0.05).PHC alleviated the biochemical and histopathological changes in a dosedependent manner.Serum levels of DAO,D-lactate,and endotoxin and the incidence of intestinal BT in the high-dose PHC group were significantly lower than in the low-dose PHC group (0.637 ± 0.064,6.972 ± 0.349,29.64 ± 5.49,and 14/40 vs 0.998 ± 0.062,7.835 ± 0.330,38.56 ± 4.28,and 6/40,respectively,all P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:PHC protects the structure and function of the intestinal mucosa from injury after CPB in rats.Ying-Jie Sun Hui-Juan Cao Qiang Jin Yu-Gang Diao Tie-Zheng Zhang 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,16:35
4Wheat straw burning and its associated impacts on Beijing air quality显示文摘Based on MODIS images, large-scale flow field charts and environmental monitoring data, we thor- oughly analyzed the spatial distribution of wheat straw burning in North China, with focus on its envi- ronmental impacts on the air quality of Beijing and pollution transport paths. And we anatomized changes of air quality in Beijing under the impacts of pollution generated by wheat straw burning around. The results indicate that: (1) The North China Plain, a winter-wheat growing area, is the main source of pollutants induced by wheat straw burning in Beijing. The direction of south-west is the dominant heavy pollution transport path. (2) Impacts of wheat straw burning on air quality are mainly manifested by significantly increasing CO concentration. (3) Precursors of O3 generated by wheat straw burning, combining with favorable meteorological conditions, can induce increasing O3 concentration greatly. NO concentration will be greatly increased due to decreasing O3 concentration at night. (4) Atmospheric particles, especially the fine ones, from wheat straw burning exert considerable influ- ence on Beijing air quality. (5) Different contributions of wheat straw burning to pollutants are identified. Ratios of PM10/SO2, CO/SO2, etc., can be applied to indicate pollution extent of wheat straw burning. High ratios of PM10/SO2 and CO/SO2 show that the air quality was heavily impacted by wheat straw burning and these ratios can be employed as indicators of contribution of wheat straw burning to the degradation of Beijing air quality. (6) Randomness of wheat straw burning activities renders random outbreak of air pollution of this type. 5Effect of artificial aeration on the performance of vertical-flow constructed wetland treating heavily polluted river water显示文摘Three lab-scale vertical-flow constructed wetlands(VFCWs),including the non-aerated(NA),intermittently aerated(IA) and continuously aerated(CA) ones,were operated at different hydraulic loading rates(HLRs) to evaluate the effect of artificial aeration on the treatment efficiency of heavily polluted river water.Results indicated that artificial aeration increased the dissolved oxygen(DO) concentrations in IA and CA,which significantly favored the removal of organic matter and NH 4 +-N.The DO grads caused by intermittent aeration formed aerobic and anoxic regions in IA and thus promoted the removal of total nitrogen(TN).Although the removal efficiencies of COD Cr,NH 4 +-N and TN in the three VFCWs all decreased with an increase in HLR,artificial aeration enhanced the reactor resistance to the fluctuation of pollutant loadings.The maximal removal efficiencies of COD Cr,NH 4 +-N and total phosphorus(TP)(i.e.,81%,87% and 37%,respectively) were observed in CA at 19 cm/day HLR,while the maximal TN removal(i.e.,57%) was achieved in IA.Although the improvement of artificial aeration on TP removal was limited,this study has demonstrated the feasibility of applying artificial aeration to VFCWs treating polluted river water,particularly at a high HLR.Huiyu Dong Zhimin Qiang Tinggang Li Hui Jin Weidong Chen 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,4:38

8Effect of low-nitrogen stress on photosynthesis and chlorophyll fluorescence characteristics of maize cultivars with different low-nitrogen tolerances显示文摘Nitrogen(N)is a critical element for plant growth and productivity that influences photosynthesis and chlorophyll fluorescence.We investigated the effect of low-N stress on leaf photosynthesis and chlorophyll fluorescence characteristics of maize cultivars with difference in tolerance to low N levels.The low-N tolerant cultivar ZH311 and low-N sensitive cultivar XY508 were used as the test materials.A field experiment(with three N levels:N0,0 kg ha–1;N1,150 kg ha–1;N2,300 kg ha–1)in Jiyanyang,Sichuan Province,China,and a hydroponic experiment(with two N levels:CK,4 mmol L–1;LN,0.04 mmol L–1)in Chengdu,Sichuan Province,China were conducted.Low-N stress significantly decreased chlorophyll content and rapid light response curves of the maximum fluorescence under light(Fm′),fluorescence instable state(Fs),non-photochemical quenching(qN),the maximum efficiency of PSII photochemistry under dark-adaption(Fv/Fm),potential activity of PSII(Fv/Fo),and actual photochemical efficiency of PSII(ΦPSII)of leaves.Further,it increased the chlorophyll(Chl)a/Chl b values and so on.The light compensation point of ZH311 decreased,while that of XY508 increased.The degree of variation of these indices in low-N tolerant cultivars was lower than that in low-N sensitive cultivars,especially at the seedling stage.Maize could increase Chl a/Chl b,apparent quantum yield and light saturation point to adapt to N stress.Compared to low-N sensitive cultivars,low-N tolerant cultivars maintained a higher net photosynthetic rate and electron transport rate to maintain stronger PSII activity,which further promoted the ability to harvest and transfer light.This might be a photosynthetic mechanism by which low-N tolerant cultivar adapt to low-N stress.WU Ya-wei LI Qiang JIN Rong CHEN Wei LIU Xiao-lin KONG Fan-lei KE Yong-pei SHI Haichun YUAN Ji-chao 2019Journal of Integrative Agriculture2019,18,6:25

13Wireless Communications with Programmable Metasurface:Transceiver Design and Experimental Results显示文摘Metasurfaces have drawn significant attentions due to their superior capability in tailoring electromagnetic waves with a wide frequency range, from microwave to visible light. Recently, programmable metasurfaces have demonstrated the ability of manipulating the amplitude or phase of electromagnetic waves in a programmable manner in real time, which renders them especially appealing in the applications of wireless communications. In this paper, we present the fundamental principle of applying programmable metasurface as transmitter for wireless communications. Then, we establish a prototype system of metasurface-based transmitter to conduct several experiments and measurements over the air, which practically demonstrate the feasibility of using programmable metasurfaces in future communication systems. By exploiting the dynamically controllable property of programmable metasurface, the design, implementation and experimental evaluation of the proposed metasurface-based wireless communication system are presented with the prototype, which realizes single carrier quadrature phase shift keying(QPSK) transmission over the air. In the developed prototype, the phase of the reflected electromagnetic wave of programma-ble metasurface is directly manipulated in real time according to the baseband control signal, which achieves 2.048 Mbps data transfer rate with video streaming transmission over the air. In addition, experimental result is provided to compare the performance of the proposed metasurface-based architecture against the conventional one. With the slight increase of the transmit power by 5 dB, the same bit error rate(BER) performance can be achieved as the conventional system in the absence of channel coding. 17Expediting redox kinetics of sulfur species by atomic-scale electrocatalysts in lithium–sulfur batteries显示文摘Lithium–sulfur(Li–S)batteries have extremely high theoretical energy density that make them as promising systems toward vast practical applications.Expediting redox kinetics of sulfur species is a decisive task to break the kinetic limitation of insulating lithium sulfide/disulfide precipitation/dissolution.Herein,we proposed a porphyrinderived atomic electrocatalyst to exert atomic-efficient electrocatalytic effects on polysulfide intermediates.Quantifying electrocatalytic efficiency of liquid/solid conversion through a potentiostatic intermittent titration technique measurement presents a kinetic understanding of specific phase evolutions imparted by the atomic electrocatalyst.Benefiting from atomically dispersed“lithiophilic”and“sulfiphilic”sites on conductive substrates,the finely designed atomic electrocatalyst endows Li–S cells with remarkable cycling stablity(cyclic decay rate of 0.10%in 300 cycles),excellent rate capability(1035 mAh g−1 at 2 C),and impressive areal capacity(10.9 mAh cm−2 at a sulfur loading of 11.3 mg cm−2).The present work expands atomic electrocatalysts to the Li–S chemistry,deepens kinetic understanding of sulfur species evolution,and encourages application of emerging electrocatalysis in other multielectron/multiphase reaction energy systems.Bo-Quan Li Long Kong Chang-Xin Zhao Qi Jin Xiao Chen Hong-Jie Peng Jin-Lei Qin Jin-Xiu Chen Hong Yuan Qiang Zhang Jia-Qi Huang 2019InfoMat2019,1,4:18

19A new procedure to estimate the rainfall erosivity factor based on Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission(TRMM) data显示文摘Soil erosion by water is the most important land degradation problem worldwide.In this paper a new procedure was developed to estimate the rainfall-runoff erosivity factor(R)based on Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission(TRMM)satellite-estimated precipitation data,which consists of 3-h rainfall intensity data.In this method,R was calculated as the product of the maximum 180-min rainfall intensity and the rainfall energy.This procedure was applied to the Daling River basin in Liaoning Province,China,R in terms of yearly,monthly and event-based rainfall in 2005 was computed separately using TRMM 3B42 data.The TRMM data showed a significant correlation with the interpolated rain-gauge data.Furthermore,because the TRMM data are based on rainfall intensity,they can represent the impact on erosion more accurately.It reflects both the spatial distribution and the intensity of rainfall.The procedure is a new approach to estimate the rainfall erosivity for soil water erosion modeling,especially in areas lacking rain-gauge stations.ZHU Qiang CHEN XiuWan FAN QiXiang JIN HePing LI JiRen 2011Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,9:15
20Laparoscopic cystogastrostomy for the treatment of pancreatic pseudocysts: A case report显示文摘Pancreatic pseudocysts(PPs) are collections o pancreatic secretions that are lined by fibrous tissue and may contain necrotic debris or blood. The interventions including percutaneous, endoscopic o surgical approaches are based on the size, location symptoms and complications of a pseudocyst With the availability of advanced imaging system and cameras, better hemostatic equipments and excellent laparoscopic techniques, most pseudocyst can be found and managed by laparoscopy. We describe a case of a 30-year-old male patient with a pancreatic pseudocyst amenable to laparoscopi cystogastrostomy. An incision was made through the anterior gastric wall to expose the posterior gastri wall in close contact with the pseudocyst using an ultrasonically activated scalpel. Then, another incision was made for cystogastrostomy to obtain complete and unobstructed drainage.
