| 8 | Regulation of mitochondrial NAD pool via NAD^+ transporter 2 is essential for matrix NADH homeostasis and ROS production in Arabidopsis显示文摘Reactive oxygen species(ROS) play a crucial role in numerous biological processes in plants, including development, responses to environmental stimuli, and programmed cell death(PCD). Deficiency in MOSAIC DEATH 1(MOD1), a plastid-localized enoyl-ACP reductase essential for de novo fatty acid biosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana, leads to the increased malate export from chloroplasts to mitochondria, and the subsequent accumulation of mitochondria-generated ROS and PCD. In this study, we report the identification and characterization of a mod1 suppressor, som592. SOM592 encodes mitochondrion-localized NAD^+ transporter 2(NDT2). We show that the mitochondrial NAD pool is elevated in the mod1 mutant. The som592 mutation fully suppressed mitochondrial NADH hyper-accumulation, ROS production, and PCD in the mod1 mutant, indicating a causal relationship between mitochondrial NAD accumulation and ROS/PCD phenotypes. We also show that in wild-type plants, the mitochondrial NAD+uptake is involved in the regulation of ROS production in response to continuous photoperiod. Elevation of the alternative respiration pathway can suppress ROS accumulation and PCD in mod1, but leads to growth restriction. | 9 | Characteristics of blood glucose excursions in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with three different Traditional Chinese Medicine syndromes显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore the characteristics of blood glucose excursions of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with three different Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) syndromes.METHODS:One hundred and nine patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were recruited from the Department of Endocrinology and the Department of TCM of the Sixth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University.Subjects were divided into three groups according to TCM syndrome:intrinsic Damp(n- 42),Yin deficiency and internal Heat(n = 25),and Qi and Yin deficiency(n- 42).Subcutaneous interstitial glucose was monitored with a continuous glucose monitoring system for 3consecutive days to investigate the glycemic profile in each group.Plasma C-peptide levels were measured,and an arginine test was taken in 10 patients randomly selected from each group.Glucose data and glycemic variability were analyzed to investigate the differences among the groups.The change in C-peptide levels and the results from arginine trial were used to evaluate β cell function.RESULTS:Indicators reflecting blood glucose level were the highest in subjects with Yin deficiency and internal Heat syndrome,and parameters reflecting glycemic variability were the lowest in those with Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome.The change in C-peptide levels showed that subjects with Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome had the best βcell function among the three groups;this was confirmed by the arginine trial.CONCLUSION:Patients with Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome had a more stable blood glucose profile,as glycemic variability was higher in those with intrinsic Damp syndrome and those with Yin deficiency and internal Heat syndrome. | Zhang Hongyan Zhou Jian Zhang Lei Ma Jianhui Sun Yongning Zhao Yuwu | 2015 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,5: | 4 |
| 10 | DYNAMIC PRICING AND COMPENSATION ON HETEROGENEOUS SALES FORCES显示文摘In this paper, we analyze the pricing decision and the compensation strategy of a firm that relies on a heterogeneous sales force to sell its product in two periods. The sales agents' selling abilities are their private information and will determine the effectiveness of the agents' selling efforts. We introduce three compensation contract strategies, i.e. pooling, semi-separating and separating that the firm can adopt in period one and by applying principle-agent theory, derive the optimal compensation contracts and optimal price for the firm in two periods in each strategy. Comparing these three contract strategies, we found that the optimal strategy for the firm depends on the discount factor. We show that the firm will surely offer separating contracts in period one for some small discount factor, and for some large discount factor pooling contract is certain to be provided in period one. However, semi-separating contracts may be considered for some mediate discount factor, and also may not appear for all discount factors in period one. | 12 | Magnetically levitated/piezoelectric/triboelectric hybrid generator as a power supply for the temperature sensor显示文摘The combination of new intelligent materials and structure technology is becoming an effective way in energy havesting and self-powered sensing. In this work, we demonstrate a magnetically levitated/piezoelectric/triboelectric hybrid generator, which does not use complex structure and has high steady output performance. It includes three parts: magnetically levitated generator(MLG), piezoelectric generator(PNG), triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG). The peak power of each is 135 μW, 22 mW and3.6 mW, which are obtained at 1 MΩ, 10 kΩ and 1 kΩ, respectively. The hybrid generator can completely light up light-emitting diodes(LEDs) under the vibration frequency of 20 Hz and the vibration amplitude of 10 mm. It also can charge a 470 μF capacitor.On this basis, we have integrated the hybrid generaor as a power supply into a self-powered tempreature sensing system. | 15 | Feature Extraction and Dimensionality Reduction of Arc Sound under Typical Penetration Status in Metal Inert Gas Welding显示文摘Arc sound is well known as the potential and available resource for monitoring and controlling of the weld penetration status,which is very important to the welding process quality control,so any attentions have been paid to the relationships between the arc sound and welding parameters.Some non-linear mapping models correlating the arc sound to welding parameters have been established with the help of neural networks.However,the research of utilizing arc sound to monitor and diagnose welding process is still in its infancy.A self-made real-time sensing system is applied to make a study of arc sound under typical penetration status,including partial penetration,unstable penetration,full penetration and excessive penetration,in metal inert-gas(MIG) flat tailored welding with spray transfer.Arc sound is pretreated by using wavelet de-noising and short-time windowing technologies,and its characteristics,characterizing weld penetration status,of time-domain,frequency-domain,cepstrum-domain and geometric-domain are extracted.Subsequently,high-dimensional eigenvector is constructed and feature-level parameters are successfully fused utilizing the concept of primary principal component analysis(PCA).Ultimately,60-demensional eigenvector is replaced by the synthesis of 8-demensional vector,which achieves compression for feature space and provides technical supports for pattern classification of typical penetration status with the help of arc sound in MIG welding in the future. | LIU Lijun LAN Hu ZHENG Hongyan JIAN Xiaoxia | 2012 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2012,25,2: | 2 |

| 19 | Fluorouracil-based preoperative chemoradiotherapy with or without oxaliplatin for stage Ⅱ/Ⅲ rectal cancer:a 3-year follow-up study显示文摘Background:Fluorouracil-based preoperative chemoradiotherapy has become the standard treatment for stage II/III rectal cancer.In order to improve the overall survival(OS) and disease-free survival(DFS),we added oxaliplatin to the standard treatment,and compared the effectiveness of these two treatment patterns.Methods:A total of 206 patients enrolled in the prospective study had histologically confirmed rectal cancer of clinical stage II/III during July 2007 to July 2010.They were randomized into the experimental group received oxaliplatin and capecitabine in combination with radiotherapy,and the control group received capecitabine in combination with radiotherapy.All patients received surgery in 6-10 weeks after chemoradiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy with m FOLFOX6.The primary endpoints were DFS and OS,and the secondary endpoints included toxicity,compliance,and histopathological response.Results:The 3-year OS in the experimental group and the control group was 90.29% vs.86.41%(P>0.05),and the 3-year DFS was 80.58% vs.69.90%(P>0.05).The pathological complete remission(p CR) rates were 23.30% and 19.42%,respectively(P=0.497).The 3-year local recurrence rates were 4.85% vs.5.83%(P=0.694),and the 3-year distant metastasis rates were 16.50% and 28.16%,respectively(P=0.045).There were no significant differences in most grade 3-4 toxicities between two groups,however,grade 3-4 diarrhea occurred in 16.50%(17/103) of the experimental group,compared with 6.80%(7/103) of the control group(P=0.030).Also,the total grade 3-4 acute toxicity showed a significant difference(10.68% vs.21.36%,P=0.037).Conclusions:The experimental treatment did not lead significantly improved OS and DFS,and thus longer follow-up is warranted for our patient cohort.Adding oxaliplatin to capecitabine-based preoperative chemoradiotherapy can significantly reduce metastasis,but has only minimal impact on local recurrence.Although grade 3-4 toxicity rate increased(primarily gastrointestinal toxicity),patients can stand to be followed up with allopathic treatment. | Dexin Jiao Rui Zhang Zhiqiang Gong Fang Liu Yue Chen Qinrui Yu Liping Sun Hongyan Duan Shendong Zhu Fei Liu Jian Wang Jianhui Jia | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2015,27,6: | 2 |
| 20 | Rock crevices determine woody and herbaceous plant cover in the karst critical zone显示文摘The study of the critical zones(CZs) of the Earth link the composition and function of aboveground vegetation with the characteristics of the rock layers, providing a new way to study how the unique rock and soil conditions in karst regions affect the aboveground vegetation. Based on survey results of the rocks, soils and vegetation in the dolomite and limestone distribution areas in the karst area of central Guizhou, it was found that woody plant cover increases linearly with the number of cracks with a width of more than 1 mm, while the cover of herbaceous plants shows the opposite trend(p<0.01). The dolomite distribution area is characterized by undeveloped crevices, and the thickness of the soil layer is generally less than 20 cm, which is suitable for the distribution of herbaceous plants with shallow roots. Due to the development of crevices in the limestone distribution area, the soil is deeply distributed through the crevices for the deep roots of trees, which leads to a diversified species composition and a complicated structure in the aboveground vegetation. Based on moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer(MODIS) remote sensing data from 2001 to 2010, the normalized differentiated vegetation index(NDVI) and annual net primary productivity(NPP) results for each phase of a 16-day interval further indicate that the NDVI of the limestone distribution area is significantly higher than that in the dolomite distribution area, but the average annual NPP is the opposite. The results of this paper indicate that in karst CZs, the lithology determines the structure and distribution of the soil, which further determines the cover of woody and herbaceous plants in the aboveground vegetation. Although the amount of soil in the limestone area may be less than that in the dolomite area, the developed crevice structure is more suitable for the growth of trees with deep roots, and the vegetation activity is strong.
