Olivine-norite rock detected by the lunar rover Yutu-2 likely crystallized from the SPA-impact melt pool显示文摘Chang’E-4 landed in the South Pole-Aitken(SPA)basin,providing a unique chance to probe the composition of the lunar interior. Its landing site is located on ejecta strips in Von Karm´an crater that´possibly originate from the neighboring Finsen crater.A surface rock and the lunar regolith at 10 sites along the rover Yutu-2 track were measured by the onboard Visible and Near-Infrared Imaging Spectrometer in the first three lunar days of mission operations. In situ spectra of the regolith have peak band positions at 1 and 2μm,similar to the spectral data of Finsen ejecta from the Moon Mineralogy Mapper, which confirms that the regolith’s composition of the landing area is mostly similar to that of Finsen ejecta. The rock spectrum shows similar band peak positions, but stronger absorptions, suggesting relatively fresh exposure. The rock may consist of 38.1±5.4%low-Ca pyroxene,13.9±5.1%olivine and 48.0±3.1%plagioclase,referred to as olivine-norite.The plagioclase-abundant and olivine-poor modal composition of the rock is inconsistent with the origin of the mantle, but representative of the lunar lower crust.Alternatively, the rock crystallized from the impact-derived melt pool formed by the SPA-impact event via mixing the lunar crust and mantle materials. This scenario is consistent with fast-cooling thermal conditions of a shallow melt pool, indicated by the fine to medium-sized texture(<3 mm)of the rock and the SPA-impact melting model[Icarus 2012;220:730–43].Honglei Lin Zhiping He Wei Yang Yangting Lin Rui Xu Chi Zhang Meng-Hua Zhu Rui Chang Jinhai Zhang Chunlai Li Hongyu Lin Yang Liu Sheng Gou Yong Wei Sen Hu Changbin Xue Jianfeng Yang Jie Zhong Xiaohui Fu Weixing Wan Yongliao Zou 2020National Science Review2020,7,5:9
Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear. Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks. Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes.MA Yan ZHU Dong Shan CHEN Ren Bo SHI Nan Nan LIU Si Hong FAN Yi Pin WU Gui Hui YANG Pu Ye BAI Jiang Feng CHEN Hong CHEN Li Ying FENG Qiao GUO Tuan Mao HOU Yong HU Gui Fen HU Xiao Mei HU Yun Hong HUANG Jin HUANG Qiu Hua HUANG Shao Zhen JI Liang JIN Hai Hao LEI Xiao LI Chun Yan LI Min Qing LI Qun Tang LI Xian Yong LIU Hong De LIU Jin Ping LIU Zhang MA Yu Ting MAO Ya MO Liu Fen NA Hui WANG Jing Wei SONG Fang Li SUN Sheng WANG Dong Ting WANG Ming Xuan WANG Xiao Yan WANG Yin Zhen WANG Yu Dong WU Wei WU Lan Ping XIAO Yan Hua XIE Hai Jun XU Hong Ming XU Shou Fang XUE Rui Xia YANG Chun YANG Kai Jun YUAN Sheng Li ZHANG Gong Qi ZHANG Jin Bo ZHANG Lin Song ZHAO Shu Sen ZHAO Wan Ying ZHENG Kai ZHOU Ying Chun ZHU Jun Teng ZHU Tian Qing ZHANG Hua Min WANG Yan Ping WANG Yong Yan 2020Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,12:8
FRUCTOKINASE-LIKE PROTEIN 1 interacts with TRXz to regulate chloroplast development in rice显示文摘Chloroplast genes are transcribed by the plastidencoded RNA polymerase(PEP) or nucleus-encoded RNA polymerase. FRUCTOKINASE-LIKE PROTEINS(FLNs) are phosphofructokinase-B(Pfk B)-type carbohydrate kinases that act as part of the PEP complex; however, the molecular mechanisms underlying FLN activity in rice remain elusive.Previously, we identified and characterized a heat-stress sensitive albino(hsa_1) mutant in rice. Map-based cloning revealed that HSA_1 encodes a putative OsFLN_2. Here, we further demonstrated that knockdown or knockout of the OsFLN_1, a close homolog of HSA_1/OsFLN_2, considerably inhibits chloroplast biogenesis and the fln_1 knockout mutants, created by clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR) and CRISPR-associate protein_9, exhibit severe albino phenotype and seedling lethality. Moreover, OsFLN_1 localizes to the chloroplast.Yeast two-hybrid, pull-down and bimolecular fluorescencecomplementation experiments revealed that OsFLN_1 and HSA_1/OsFLN_2 interact with THIOREDOXINZ(OsTRXz) to regulate chloroplast development. In agreement with this, knockout of OsTRXz resulted in a similar albino and seedling lethality phenotype to that of the fln_1 mutants. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and immunoblot analysis revealed that the transcription and translation of PEP-dependent genes were strongly inhibited in fln_1 and trxz mutants, indicating that loss of OsFLN_1, HSA_1/OsFLN_2, or OsTRXz function perturbs the stability of the transcriptionally active chromosome complex and PEP activity. These results show that OsFLN_1 and HSA_1/OsFLN_2 contribute to chloroplast biogenesis and plant growth.Lei He Sen Zhang Zhennan Qiu Juan Zhao Wendan Nie Haiyan Lin Zhengge Zhu Dali Zeng Qian Qian Li Zhu 2018Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2018,60,2:6
Spatial and temporal variation characteristics of ocean waves in the South China Sea during the boreal winter显示文摘The spatial and temporal variation characteristics of the waves in the South China Sea(SCS) in the boreal winter during the period of 1979/1980–2011/2012 have been investigated based on the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts interim(ERA-Interim) reanalysis dataset. The results show that the leading mode of significant wave height anomalies(SWHA) in the SCS exhibits significant interannual variation and a decadal shift around the mid-1990 s, and features a basin-wide pattern in the entire SCS with a center located in the west of the Luzon Strait. The decadal change from a weak regime to a strong regime is mainly associated with the enhancement of winter monsoon modulated by the Pacific decadal oscillation(PDO). The interannual variation of the SWHA has a significant negative correlation with the El Ni?o Southern Oscillation(ENSO) in the same season and the preceding autumn. For a better understanding of the physical mechanism between the SCS ocean waves and ENSO, further investigation is made by analyzing atmospheric circulation. The impact of the ENSO on the SWHA over the SCS is bridged by the East Asian winter monsoon and Pacific-East Asian teleconnection in the lower troposphere. During the El Ni?o(La Ni?a), the anomalous Philippine Sea anticyclone(cyclone) dominates over the Western North Pacific, helps to weaken(enhance) East Asian winter monsoon and then emerges the negative(positive) SWHA in the SCS.ZHU Geli LIN Wantao ZHAO Sen CAO Yanhua 2015Acta Oceanologica Sinica2015,34,1:2

Influencing Factors for Erectile Dysfunction of Young Adults with No Response to PDE5i显示文摘Erectile dysfunction(ED)is a common male disorder.Although orally-administered phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors(PDE5 inhibitors)are now recognized as the primary pharmacological treatment method for ED,20%-30%of the patients treated with PDE5 inhibitors exhibit no significant effects. This study aims to investigate the influencing factors of ED in young adults with no response to PDE5 inhibitors.ED patients who would take PDE5 inhibitors were included and investigated with a questionnaire.Patients with no response to PDE5 inhibitors(tadalafil and sildenafil)served as study group, and those with response to PDE5 inhibitors as control group. Then Chi square test and logistic regression analysis were applied to find the potential influencing factors. In total,378 ED patients were included.Ninety-three(24.6%)cases were non-responsive to PDE5 inhibitors, and the remaining 285(75.4%)responded to PDE5 inhibitors. In multiple logistic regression analysis,we found that history of drinking(OR=3.152;95%CI 1.672-6.975),spousal noncooperation(OR=2.994;95%CI 1.589-5.638),number of fixed sex partners(OR=0.358;95%CI 0.132-0.651),duration of ED(OR=3.356;95%CI 1.352-8.333),and depression(OR=3.689;95%CI 1.579-8.979)could be the influencing factors for ED patients’non-response to PDE5 inhibitors. In conclusion, history of drinking, spousal noncooperation, number of fixed sex partner, long duration of ED,and depression could be the influencing factors for ED patients'non-response to PDE5 inhibitors.Patients and doctors should pay attention to these factors.Jin WANG Yan-li WANG Yao HE Sen LI You-peng ZHANG Yong-biao CHENG Jia-lun GUO Lin SUN Yu XIN Yong TANG Zhao-hui ZHU Han-qing ZENG 2021Current Medical Science2021,41,3:1
Spin-decoupled metalens with intensity-tunable multiple focal points显示文摘The control of spin electromagnetic(EM)waves is of great significance in optical communications.Although geometric metasurfaces have shown unprecedented capability to manipulate the wavefronts of spin EM waves,it is still challenging to independently manipulate each spin state and intensity distribution, which inevitably degrades metasurface-based devices for further applications. Here we propose and experimentally demonstrate an approach to designing spin-decoupled metalenses based on pure geometric phase,i.e.,geometric metasurfaces with predesigned phase modulation possessing functionalities of both convex lenses and concave lenses.Under the illumination of left-/right-handed circularly polarized(LCP or RCP)terahertz(THz)waves, these metalenses can generate transversely/longitudinally distributed RCP/LCP multiple focal points.Since the helicity-dependent multiple focal points are locked to the polarization state of incident THz waves, the relative intensity between two orthogonal components can be controlled with different weights of LCP and RCP THz waves, leading to the intensity-tunable functionality. This robust approach for simultaneously manipulating orthogonal spin states and energy distributions of spin EM waves will open a new avenue for designing multifunctional devices and integrated communication systems.BINGSHUANG YAO XIAOFEI ZANG YANG ZHU DAHAI YU JINGYA XIE LIN CHEN SEN HAN YIMING ZHU SONGLIN ZHUANG 2021Photonics Research2021,9,6:1

A rare variant in COL11A1 is strongly associated with adult height in Chinese Han population显示文摘Human height is a highly heritable trait in which multiple genes are involved. Recent genome-wide association studies(GWASs) have identified that COL11A1 is an important susceptibility gene for human height. To determine whether the variants of COL11A1 are associated with adult and children height,we analyzed splicing and coding single-nucleotide variants across COL11A1 through exome-targeted sequencing and two validation stages with a total 20,426 Chinese Han samples. A total of 105 variants were identified by exome-targeted sequencing, of which 30 SNPs were located in coding region. The strongest association signal was chr1_103380393 with P value of 4.8 * 10^(-7). Chr1_103380393 also showed nominal significance in the validation stage(P = 1.21 * 10^(-6)). Combined analysis of 16,738 samples strengthened the original association of chr1_103380393 with adult height(P_(combined)= 3.1 * 10^(-8)), with an increased height of 0.292sd(standard deviation) per G allele(95% CI:0.19-0.40). There was no evidence(P = 0.843) showing that chr1_103380393 altered child height in 3688 child samples. Only the group of 12-15 years showed slight significance with P value of 0.0258.This study firstly shows that genetic variants of COL11A1 contribute to adult height in Chinese Han population but not to children height, which expand our knowledge of the genetic factors underlying height variation and the biological regulation of human height.Changbing Shen Xiaodong Zheng Jing Gao Caihong Zhu Randy Ko Xianfa Tang Chao Yang Jinfa Dou Yan Lin Yuyan Cheng Lu Liu Shuangjun Xu Gang Chen Xianbo Zuo Xianyong Yin Liangdan Sun Yong Cui Sen Yang Xuejun Zhang Fusheng Zhou 2016Journal of Genetics and Genomics2016,43,9:1
Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector. Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements, such as its low-energy threshold, high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors, and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors. In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable, assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition, approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected. This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter, which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle. Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better, depending on the central value, and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment.Angel Abusleme Thomas Adam Shakeel Ahmad Sebastiano Aiello Muhammad Akram Nawab Ali Fengpeng An Guangpeng An Qi An Giuseppe Andronico Nikolay Anfimov Vito Antonelli Tatiana Antoshkina Burin 15Roadmap for rechargeable batteries:present and beyond显示文摘Rechargeable batteries currently hold the largest share of the electrochemical energy storage market, and they play a major role in the sustainable energy transition and industrial decarbonization to respond to global climate change.Due to the increased popularity of consumer electronics and electric vehicles,lithium-ion batteries have quickly become the most successful rechargeable batteries in the past three decades, yet growing demands in diversified application scenarios call for new types of rechargeable batteries.Tremendous efforts are made to developing the next-generation post-Li-ion rechargeable batteries, which include, but are not limited to solid-state batteries, lithium–sulfur batteries,sodium-/potassium-ion batteries, organic batteries,magnesium-/zinc-ion batteries, aqueous batteries and flow batteries.Despite the great achievements, challenges persist in precise understandings about the electrochemical reaction and charge transfer process, and optimal design of key materials and interfaces in a battery. This roadmap tends to provide an overview about the current research progress, key challenges and future prospects of various types of rechargeable batteries.New computational methods for materials development, and characterization techniques will also be discussed as they play an important role in battery research.Sen Xin Xu Zhang Lin Wang Haijun Yu Xin Chang Yu-Ming Zhao Qinghai Meng Pan Xu Chen-Zi Zhao Jiahang Chen Huichao Lu Xirui Kong Jiulin Wang Kai Chen Gang Huang Xinbo Zhang Yu Su Yao Xiao Shu-Lei Chou Shilin Zhang Zaiping Guo Aobing Du Guanglei Cui Gaojing Yang Qing Zhao Liubing Dong Dong Zhou Feiyu Kang Hu Hong Chunyi Zhi Zhizhang Yuan Xianfeng Li Yifei Mo Yizhou Zhu Dongfang Yu Xincheng Lei Jianxiong Zhao Jiayi Wang Dong Su Yu-Guo Guo Qiang Zhang Jun Chen Li-Jun Wan 2024Science China Chemistry2024,67,1:0
Microstructure characteristics and mechanical properties of Al/Mg joints manufactured by magnetic pulse welding显示文摘The effective connection of 1050 Al and AZ31 Mg was realized by magnetic pulse welding. The maximum tensile-shear force of the dissimilar Al/Mg metal lap joint reached 97%of that of the 1050 Al alloy base material by optimizing the process parameters. The microstructure of dissimilar Al/Mg welded joints was analysed by Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM),Energy Dispersive Spectrometer(EDS)and Electron Backscattered Diffraction(EBSD).The results show that the key to obtaining high shear strength of Al/Mg dissimilar metal joints is mainly due to the following two reasons. On the one hand, grain refinement and element interdiffusion occur at the interface. On the other hand,no intermetallic compounds are formed at the interface.Congcong Zhu Shiwei Xu Wenli Gao Yifan Meng Sen Lin Lu Dai 2023Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2023,11,7:0
Anatomical Evidence for the Neural Connection from the Emotional Brain to Autonomic Innervation in the Anterior Chamber Structures of the Eye显示文摘Objective Previous studies have shown that the autonomic nervous system(ANS),which can be affected by emotions,is important in the occurrence or progression of glaucoma. The autonomic innervation distributed in the anterior chamber(AC)structures might play an efferent role in the neural regulation of intraocular pressure(IOP).This study aimed to investigate the anatomic neural connection from the emotional brain to autonomic innervation in the AC.Methods A retrograde trans-multisynaptic pseudorabies virus encoded with an enhanced green fluorescent protein(PRV531)and non-trans-synaptic tracer FAST Dil were injected into the right eye of mice, respectively.Fluorescent localization in the emotional brain and preganglionic nuclei was studied.Five and a half days after PRV531 injection into the right AC,fluorescent signals were observed in several emotional brain regions, including the amygdala, agranular insular cortex, lateral septal nuclei, periaqueductal gray, and hypothalamus.Autonomic preganglionic nuclei, including Edinger-Westphal nucleus, superior salivatory nucleus, and intermediolateral nucleus, were labeled using PRV531.Results The sensory trigeminal nuclei were not labeled using PRV531.The fluorescence signals in the nuclei mentioned above showed bilateral distribution, primarily on the ipsilateral side.Seven days after injecting FAST Dil into the AC,we observed no FAST Dil-labeled neurons in the central nervous system. Conclusion Our results indicate a neural connection from the emotional brain to autonomic innervation in the AC,which provides anatomical support for the emotional influence of IOP via the ANS.Lin MA Fang YANG Qing LIU Xu-tao ZHU Xin LIU Sen JIN Hua-dong WANG Lei PEI Fu-qiang XU Hai-xia LIU 2022Current Medical Science2022,42,2:0
