| 1 | Electrochemically enhanced adsorption of PFOA and PFOS on multiwalled carbon nanotubes in continuous flow mode显示文摘It is important to develop efficient technologies on removal of perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA)and perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS)from water due to their wide distribution and potential threat to human health.In this work,a durable and convenient electrosorption device was designed in continuous flow mode to investigate the adsorption of PFOX(X=A and S)on multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWNTs)from water under electrochemical assistance.The electrosorption experiments were conducted under different influent and electrolyte concentrations,hydraulic retention time(HRT)and electrode distance to optimize the operation.The results showed that the highest removal efficiencies toward both PFOA and PFOS could come up to 90%at 1 V.Compared with open circuit(OC)adsorption under the same conditions,the removal efficiencies were improved by 4.9 times(PFOA)and 4.2 times(PFOS)respectively.In addition,the MWNTs electrode was found to be reusable.These findings provide an efficient method to remove PFOX from water by electrosorption in continuous flow mode. | Shuangyu Wang Xiaona Li Yaobin Zhang Xie Quan Shuo Chen Hongtao Yu Huimin Zhao | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,23: | 8 |
| 2 | Protective effect of hydroxychloroquine on rheumatoid arthritis-associated atherosclerosis显示文摘Background: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have an increased risk for cardiovascular disease. We examined the effect of gut microbiota in a mouse model of RA that develops atherosclerosis. Methods: We created three groups of K/BxN female mice that were positive for the anti‐glucose‐6‐phosphate isomerase (GPI) antibody: control diet (CD), high fat diet (HFD), and HFD with hydroxychloroquine (HFD + HCQ). Serological tests were used to detect the serum levels of total cholesterol (TCHO), low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C), triglyceride (TG), high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL‐C), anti‐ GPI antibody titers, and serum cytokines. Atherosclerotic plaque was determined by histological analysis, and gut microbiota were determined by 16sV4 sequencing. Results: Relative to mice given the CD, those receiving the HFD had increased serum levels of LDL‐C, TCHO, and TG, decreased serum levels of HDL‐C, increased atherosclerotic lesions in the aortic root, and altered gut microbiota. Addition of HCQ to HFD decreased the serum levels of LDL‐C, TCHO, and TG, increased serum levels of HDL‐C, and decreased the atherosclerotic lesions in the aortic root. Mice receiving HFD + HCQ also had the greatest bacterial diversity among the three experimental groups. Moreover, HCQ treatment significantly increased the abundance of Akkermansia and Parabacteroides, and decreased the abundance of Clostridium sensu stricto cluster 1, and therefore may be responsible for the reduced RA‐associated atherosclerosis and dyslipidemia. | 4 | Facile Synthesis of NiFe_2O_4/Reduced Graphene Oxide Hybrid with Enhanced Electrochemical Lithium Storage Performance显示文摘In this work, a facile, one-pot route has been applied to synthesize nanohybrids based on mixed oxide Ni Fe2O4 and reduced graphene oxide(r GO). The hybrid is constructed by nanosized Ni Fe2O4 crystals confined by fewlayered r GO sheets. The formation mechanism and microstructure of the hybrids have been clarified by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy.Electrochemical tests show that the performance of Ni Fe2O4 can be considerably improved by r GO incorporation. The performance improvement can be attributed to the two-dimensional conductive channels and the unique hybrid structure r GO constructed. | 10 | Single cell transcriptomic analysis identifies novel vascular smooth muscle subsets under high hydrostatic pressure显示文摘Although some co-risk factors and hemodynamic alterations are involved in hypertension progression,their direct biomechanical effects are unclear.Here,we constructed a high-hydrostatic-pressure cell-culture system to imitate constant hypertension and identified novel molecular classifications of human aortic smooth muscle cells(HASMCs)by single-cell transcriptome analysis.Under 100-mmHg(analogous to healthy human blood pressure)or 200-mmHg(analogous to hypertension)hydrostatic pressure for 48 h,HASMCs showed six distinct vascular SMC(VSMC)clusters according to differential gene expression and gene ontology enrichment analysis.Especially,two novel HASMC subsets were identified,named the inflammatory subset,with CXCL2,CXCL3 and CCL2 as markers,and the endothelial-function inhibitory subset,with AKR1C2,AKR1C3,SERPINF1 as markers.The inflammatory subset promoted CXCL2&3 and CCL2 chemokine expression and secretion,triggering monocyte migration;the endothelial-function inhibitory subset secreted SERPINF1 and accelerated prostaglandin F2αgeneration to inhibit angiogenesis.The expression of the two VSMC subsets was greatly increased in arterial media from patients with hypertension and experimental animal models of hypertension.Collectively,we identified high hydrostatic pressure directly driving VSMCs into two new subsets,promoting or exacerbating endothelial dysfunction,thereby contributing to the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. | Zhenzhen Chen Haizeng Zhang Yingnan Bai Changting Cui Shuangyue Li Wenjie Wang Yue Deng Qiannan Gao Lu Wang Wei Qi Lijun Zhang Yan Yang Bin Geng Jun Cai | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,10: | 1 |

| 16 | Insight into the growth behaviors of MoS_(2)nanograins influenced by step edges and atomic structure of the substrate显示文摘The step edges and intrinsic atomic structure of single-crystal substrate play a critical role in determining the growth pathways of transition metal dichalcogenide(TMD)grains,particularly whether the TMDs will grow into wafer-scale single-crystal or anisotropic nanoribbons.Hereby,we investigate the growth behaviours of the MoS_(2)nanograins on(0001)and()sapphire substrates.On one hand,the step edges formed on the(0001)surface after thermal treatment are found to promote the macroscopic aggregation of MoS_(2)nanograins and to form unidirectional large triangular islands along with the<>steps in the annealing process,while on the pristine(0001)surface,the MoS_(2)nanograins grow into a random network-like pattern.Moreover,oxygen treatment on the substrate can further enhance the growth of MoS_(2)nanograins.Transmission electron microscopy and fast Fourier transform patterns reveal that the substrate could modulate the orientation of MoS_(2)nanograins during their growing process.On the other hand,the MoS_(2)nanograins on the surface could self-assemble into one-dimensional nanoribbons due to the strong structural anisotropy of the substrate.In addition,the ratio of Raman intensities for peaks that correspond to the and A1g phonon modes shows a linear relationship with the grain size due to the change of the“phonon confinement”.Moreover,new peaks located at 226 and 280 cm−1 can be observed in the off-resonant and resonant Raman spectra for the MoS_(2)nanograin samples,respectively,which can be attributed to the scatterings from the edges of as-fabricated MoS_(2)nanostructures. | Shuangyue Wang Ni Yang Mengyao Li Ji Zhang Ashraful Azam Yin Yao Xiaotao Zu Liang Qiao Peter Reece John Stride Jack Yang Sean Li | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,8: | 0 |
| 17 | Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector.Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements,such as its low-energy threshold,high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors,and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors.In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable,assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition,approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected.This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter,which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle.Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better,depending on the central value,and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment.
